There can be solar tax credits and incentives available at the federal, state and local levels. The calculator above will show you the value of all incentives your home is eligible for.
Louisiana has some work to do to instill strength in the state residential solar market. State lawmakers let net metering expire, which makes it impossible for homeowners to get credits for the solar energy they can’t use onsite.
Just a few short years ago, solar was an amazing deal in Louisiana. Let’s hope it doesn’t take another massive hurricane to improve those prospects again. Regardless, solar power can still make a lot of sense here, because the state has abundant natural sunshine to take advantage of.
Learn what solar incentives are available to Louisiana homeowners
See what Louisiana solar incentives you qualify for based on your utility company and city
Find out how much these incentives and/or Louisiana solar tax credits will reduce your cost to go solar and add batteries
The federal solar investment tax credit will have the biggest impact on the cost you will face to go solar in Louisiana
If you install your photovoltaic system before the end of 2032, the federal tax credit is 30% of the cost of your solar panel system. This is 30% off the entire cost of the system including equipment, labor, and permitting.
Example: If your solar energy system costs $20,000, your federal solar tax credit would be $20,000 x 30% = $6,000.
The federal tax credit falls to 26% starting in 2033.
With net metering in some states, you get full retail rate credit for the amount of electricity you send back into the grid with your solar panels.
While Louisiana does not have a dedicated state rebate for solar panel installation, some manufacturers like LG offer their own solar rebates. These programs are usually time sensitive. For example, LG offers a $600 solar rebate on their equipment, which your installer can help you redeem over the next year.
Louisiana offers a solar property tax exemption to help make solar power more attractive. You are 100% exempt from all property taxes associated with the increase in home value caused by installing a solar power system. And there is a significant increase. That’s going to save you a pretty nice chunk of change every year.

They do a fine job keeping in contact and returning phone calls until they have your money and are finished. Good luck getting anyone to help with any questions or concerns after they are finished. I've been trying to reach out to anyone from the company for months to just ask a basic question about how to adjust my wifi details and I can't get anyone to return my phone calls what so ever. If they also tell you that you get a refund on your taxes, its a lie. You get a rebate, not a refund. The rebate goes towards your taxes, and has no cash dollar value.

My husband and I used South Coast Solar. We found them to be very detailed, transparent and supportive. There was absolutely no pressure and our rep, Charro Hanahan, was very patient during our virtual and in-person meetings. She wanted to make sure we were clearly understanding all elements of the process. Since our initial purchase of 28 panels, we have added a Tesla power wall from South Coast Solar. Our experience with Charro and other members at South Coast Solar has been very professional, punctual, and supportive.

When you need straight forward answers, to question my rep Ellie, is the Best. What I need was a person who would answer my question without trying to bait a swich, me into buying something that I did not need. This Company has great reviews and That is what motived me to check them out.

I had my solar panels installed through this company or the company. They took over 4, I've called 30 or 40 times and nobody calls me back about upgrading my 3G card to 4G or 5G. Someone did call me from the company twice. And I've never heard from him again. And I've called them back numerous times, I've called 4or 5 different numbers, and nobody's called me back from customer service to technical assistance. Tell her I hear back from them if I ever do I will leave this review here.

Our installation was done about five years ago. When it was done we paid the full price and it took Gulf South Solar about 6 more months to finish installing the ducts to our heating system that had been moved as part of the istallation. The result was that we had carbon monoxide going into our attic the every time we used the heat and we did not know it. Our heating company told us about it.

We have been without our solar power since Thanksgiving, almost four months now. First, one board in one of the inverters quit and then the second board quit. The repair person is very nice and competent. But it takes forever to get things repaired and they typically do not return my emails.

Eddie Haynes and crew KNOW solar energy. I had all sorts of issues regarding the age of my solar power system. Eddie took the time to research all available options and costs associated with getting me back up to speed. My wife and I are far more pleased with JEH than we’ve ever been with the outfit that did our initial installation. If you’re considering going solar, save yourself a lot of headaches and unnecessary costs. Give Eddie a call!

We purchased our solar system in 2015 right before the state tax credits where due to expire. When we submitted the paperwork to the state we where rejected because the paperwork provided by the installer was incomplete. When we contacted the installer they said they no longer did solar and come to find out a lot of companies did the same after the tax credit expiration. Luckily for us a friend recommended Raji Mugrabi with Bayou Solar and he walked us through getting our tax credit money back and since then on several occasions has helped with minor maintenance since then. Its sad that the tax credit expiration shut down nearly 200 installers in Louisiana but thank god a few of them stayed around to help people out like Bayou Solar has.
