Vivint Solar has partnered with SolarEdge as its inverter supplier for its residential solar installations. SolarEdge makes inverters and power optimizers, which Vivint Solar will use in its systems across the country.
“SolarEdge has established itself as a key inverter supplier to Vivint Solar,” said Jan Newman, Vice President of Business Development for Vivint Solar. “This collaboration enables Vivint Solar to continue to provide our customers with advanced technology while also improving the financials of PV to accelerate adoption across the country.”
The DC optimizers will allow Vivint Solar and its customers to see how much power each solar panel in an array is producing and if modules in a system aren’t performing as they should, they can be checked out and replaced or fixed. The optimizers also allow for rapid system shutdown, which makes it safer for firefighters and rescue personnel.
SolarEdge’s system includes an inverter with DC optimizers on each module in a system. The optimizers allow the systems to provide data used to provide performance-based financial incentives like metering for solar arrays.
“SolarEdge is proud to be a key supplier to Vivint Solar, supporting its leading position in the U.S. PV market,” said Peter Mathews, North America General Manager for SolarEdge. “Together, we have created a highly compelling offering that integrates the features and technologies that Vivint Solar requires for faster, more cost-effective installations.”
The SolarEdge systems are also in accordance with the 2014 National Electric Code. The code was designed for additional safety in solar systems. When a home or business with a solar array is burning a solar array can present a electrocution hazard for firefighters and rescue personnel. However, systems can be designed to reduce the likelihood of such hazards when the modules stop producing electricity automatically.Tweet
