Do not use them

I will just relate the facts: my solar project is six months behind and incomplete, the installation was done improperly - not once but twice - including not grounding the system which is a severe fire hazard, they just outsource their installations to local people who don't about doing the job right, I am unable to get any help finishing my project because the contact person for my project has change 4 times. I have had 8 different representatives leave. I literally don't know who is in charge of my project.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

We deeply regret the problems you experienced during this project and will be taking a number of lessons learned from it as we continue to revamp our operations process to serve homeowners better. We're pleased to see that your system is now on and producing. Thanks for your patience through this difficult process.

Very unresponsive

Started the project last June... It is still not done...... Every request or question takes weeks to get answered/resolved. The system is still not finished/connected, 9 months later.... Was requested to submit the final payment, but the system is not even functional. I have never seen it work so far, but already paid ~80% of the total cost. Zenernet praises itself on customer service. What customer service? The one that does not exist?

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

Hello Olga - we apologize for the poor experience and lack of communication. We have been in contact with you and are making progress toward completing your project and commissioning your system. We will do our best to leave you with a better impression of Zenernet as we work to get your project across the finish line.

My experience was very poor

It too six months to get the system turned on and 45 days later I still do not have my monitoring ability in place. I don't know how my system is doing. I fell ignored. Throughout the entire process, I have had to reach out to Zenernet, not the other way around. The sale people are wonderful and tell a good story, but the company does not do what the sales person tells you they will do. Just beware if you are looking at this company. Save yoursalf the headache.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

Hi Susan - we're sorry to hear about the poor experience. We would love to get your monitoring configured - we'll need a little more information from you to find your record and ensure we get this solved quickly. Please contact us at monitoring@zenernet.com so we can assist you. Thank you for your patience.

Terrible

I started my solar process in April 2021… it’s now January 2022 and I still don’t have solar. Their company even sent an email acknowledging their short comings, stating I’d be contacted in a few days. It’s once again been 3 weeks. Don’t let them fool you into thinking they’re a responsive company. They are absolutely not. They can’t even get the initial steps done. What will they do with anything else, like warranty. Avoid this company.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

Hello. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention and will do everything we can to get your project completed quickly and make up for the delays throughout the process. Your project manager has contacted you to discuss these concerns and is working on solutions now. Thank you for your patience and willingness to work with us to finish this project on a positive note.

Communication breakdown.

Had discussed project since July of this year. Money sent and Sales representative and Project Manager stated that solar will be installed by late September or October. It’s now getting closer to January of 2022. Permit was eventually approved. No further update since then. Been leaving email and phone messages but still no response from them. I emailed and left messages to cancel project and for my money to be returned back to me. Still waiting.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

Hello Patrice. We apologize for the unsatisfactory communication, and that PG&E unexpectedly requiring an underground service upgrade made continuing with your solar project unfeasible for you. I see that a member of our team and our accounting department has now processed your refund. Please reach out to your project coordinator if there is anything else we can do for you.

Cant Finish The Job

We are still in the middle of a solar install. After the panels were installed and the main service panel (11/19/2021) was updated we payed the final payment. The initial inspection was not passed (11/29/2021). Since then Zenernet employees have basically refused to answer email or phone calls. Only by calling the main office and complaining did I get a phone call back from the person responsible for handling the inspections. At this point my stucco around the main service panel still needs to be patched and rework needs to be performed to pass inspections. So we have been in limbo for a month (12/17/2021) and there is no signs that Zeneret is going to complete the job. They have the money and it is no longer in their interest to finish.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

Hi Nathan - we apologize for the delays and frustration. We have been in communication and are working to schedule completion of the remaining work on your installation. We appreciate your patience and look forward to finishing your project on a positive note.

Nightmare

Zenernet has a lot of good reviews. Probably because they start asking for reviews prior to performing any work. Our experience with Zenernet has been a nightmare. We signed up in March and our panels were not fully installed until September. Even then, we had to ask them to come back to correct framing sticking out from under the panels. Their contractor fixed the problem on one side and left framing sticking out the other side. They also did nothing to prevent pigeons from nesting under the panels. Our roof is now covered with pigeon poop. Upon inspection of our roof, we discovered numerous cracked and broken tiles leading to, surrounding and even under the new solar panels. Further, tiles were removed from the opposite side of our roof leaving two holes for today's rain to poor into. Weeks have passed since we complained about the roof damage and no one has as yet come out to inspect or repair our roof. We now need to access the attic to inspect for water damage. In addition to the above, So Cal Edison has repeatedly rejected Zenernet's application for permission to operate the new solar panels. It's now December and we still do not have SCE approval.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

Hi Bernie - we are sorry to hear about the poor experience and we are actively working to resolve your concerns. We are close to obtaining permission to operate from SCE and are working to schedule a site visit to assess and repair the tile damage to your roof. We will be in contact about these steps and look forward to getting your project completed to your satisfaction and ours.

Run away fast

All I wanted was for my sysyem to be up and running before end of year. Needed it for taxes. Well they took my money but never performed. Have been rejected by my utility company 4 times now. No explanation from Zenernet. I mean, all they do is solar. Why can't they design a system that meets approval? So I have no panels, no batteries, no inverter and no money. They ask for most of the money up front telling you they are buying your equipment now. Too late to go with someone else. I started this in July. Now the end of November. Run away fast from this company. Oh, and just so you know, Zenernet reached out to me to install not the other way around. Run, run, run.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

Hi there - although we are unable to locate your project based on the information provided, we absolutely want to deliver on our installation plan as quickly as possible and will work with you to accomplish that objective. Unfortunately, obtaining approvals from utilities and other authorities can be complex and time consuming. Please reach out to your project coordinator for a detailed update on your project's status, and we'll do our best to complete your installation in a timely manner.

Lackluster experience

One of the more frustrating experiences I've dealt with in a long time.... Communication was terrible never had answers ready for any questions I had... "installation day" turned into almost a week long with installers only working a couple hours on day one and a few more the next couple of days. Told it was finished only to come home to an incomplete job. Whether it was wrong installation day set up or communicating with staff it was an overall disappointing experience. Would definitely not recommend to anyone.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

Hello. We're sorry your installation ended up being a more protracted process than you were expecting. If you haven't already done so, please also make your project coordinator aware of the issues. Thanks for taking time to give us your feedback.

Still paying electric bills

5 months later and no working system

Signed the contract with Zenernet in the first week of May and still do not have a working system over 5 months later. The sales experience was positive with the salesperson being very responsive when creating my proposal. But that was the only positive experience. Since then, it has been nothing but delays, poor communication, screwups and apathy from Zenernet. In choosing Zenernet you are then dealing with two separate companies Zenernet and whatever installer they choose. The first indication was a letter I received from the installer notifying me that they could place a lien against my property if they were not paid by Zenernet. The installer, Ecobright, was also located > 300 miles away from my home, so everything took a long time to schedule. The inspection took weeks to get scheduled after the install. On the first attempt the inspection failed due to incorrect electrical work. The 2nd inspection was scheduled for two weeks later. The inspector showed up, but the installer was nowhere to be found. On the third attempt the inspection failed yet again because the plans were wrong. That was ~2 weeks ago, and the 4th attempt has yet to be scheduled. It behooves me why a company that is in the Solar business can’t seem to get things right. When emailing the project coordinator and the installer I often received no responses. The project coordinator was replaced with someone who at least returns emails however nothing has improved. At one point in this saga, I was told by the installer that the installation was complete. This was confirmed by the project coordinator. The installer then showed up two weeks later unannounced to finish the installation which was news to me. I had to cancel my plans so the installer could get into my house. Zenernet was completely clueless of the status of what was going on with the installation. If you want to have a painless experience with Solar, I suggest you look elsewhere. In fact, I have friends who started Solar contracts with other companies such as Sunrun later than I did. Their systems have already been in operation for several weeks. I sit waiting with an expensive boat anchor on my roof with nothing but excuses from Zenernet. I am sure I will get a stock “I am sorry you had a bad experience” message from Zenernet in response to this. But that is what I would expect. Words but no actions.

Solar panels issue

Back in 2019, I was looking for a solar company. I found Zenernet, I saw the reviews and it sounded legit. I made a call, spoke to one of their employees, they explained to me how the system worked. We agreed on 32 panels, the process taking about 2 months. The installers did a great job, however recently my bill went from $14 to $40. My Edison bills changed between $145 to $185. I reached out to Zenernet's customer service, tried to get a hold of them for a week with zero response. I then decided to speak to the sales department, explained the problem. Customer service then called me back, the person Muzala, requested my Edison bills. She stated that she'll get back to me in 2 days. I waited a week without any response. I decided to take the proactive approach and call them back. She then told me that I'd have to pay for the technicians they sent even though I had my warranty. Waited another 2 weeks for a response, all the while I find out that I have a broken panel. Then called customer service again, the same service representative stated that she would call some other day to sort out the problem. However, she has failed at her job and it's been 3 weeks since I last spoke to her. Their customer service is abysmal, and now regretting hiring this company to do my solar panels. My biggest issue is that I have the warranty for my solar panels but due to their horrid customer service they have done nothing to fix my solar panels. Now, I am stuck with a 25 year contract with a company with one of the worst customer services I have ever encountered. If your planning to get Zenernet, I implore you to hire a local company that will honor your warranty.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

Hi Juan, We apologize for the unclear communication and the delays in getting your system serviced. We appreciate your patience and willingness to work with us to resolve your issues and compensate you for the downtime.

Hello - we're sorry to see this feedback and we've looked into your installation project to investigate the holdup. We are working on obtaining permission to operate from your local utility - the timeline for this is out of our hands, as we are beholden to an inspection from the utility. We'll continue to do everything possible to expedite the process. We appreciate your patience and willingness to work with our team today and hope we were able to alleviate your concerns.

Worst service ever

I signed my contract April 12th, 2021 and still trying to get the solar system done. The sales guy Stand was awesome, but once they had me in contract it was all downhill! They don’t even do the install. They subcontract the work to a local business near me. The company is ecobright solar and they are the worst!!!! They failed inspection 3 times! This whole ordeal has been a horrible experience!! I would not recommend Zenernet your better off finding a company near you because that’s what there going to do. HORRIBLE Company!!!

Find another solar provider

It's been 5 months (and counting) since we signed our solar agreement with Zenernet. They did not come over to do the preliminary inspection and after that, kept making mistake after mistake. Their team has been over at our house over 8 times now (and counting) with many problems still to be fixed. The inspectors even came before Zenernet returned to fixed all their problems and found out even more issues with the solar system that they installed. When we tried to reach out to them, they were extremely slow in their responses, extremely. It took 2 months for them to return one email. Then they left our home with 3 unsightly holes (one of them was extremely large!). How can a professional business come and drill a bunch of holes in our house, not do anything about it, and not respond to our emails and calls to do something proactive about this? We are still waiting for the last microinverter and all the fixes that they have to do, but we don't even know when this is going to be finished. All this to say, even though they may seem prompt and provide the best quote upfront, DON'T BE DECEIVED! They are extremely negligent and unresponsive!

No stars...they wanted info they weren't entitled to

The two men I worked with at Zenernet were very nice and helpful. But when Sunnova got into the picture, things changed. They started asking me for information they had no right to (like my will) and then said they couldn't do business with me because I refused to provide them with the information they wanted. They couldn't give me a legal reason for wanting it, just "because I said so". Since I was planning on leasing the equipment, not buying it, they would not have any legal interest in my property. My attorney provided them with the limited information I was ok with, but they still wanted more. I still have not heard any reason from them why they'd want the info they requested, but I certainly wouldn't provide them (or any other company) with what they wanted. I never was able to speak with the same person twice. People would call at all hours and leave messages for me to call them, but I could never reach the person who actually made the call. And every one of them was rude. I give them no stars, but I guess I have to give them one in order for the review to register. My advice, find another solar company.

Good sales proposal, poor execution

The sales proposal was very collaborative, informative, and transparent. Zenernet works with Sunlight Financial who got me a 20 year fixed rate that sealed the deal because the total monthly cost of a fully owned system to produce 100% of my usage was 65% of my monthly electricity bill. Another major factor was that of five companies I contacted for a proposal only two responded in a ten day search.

Great Salesman Terrible Customer Service

Everyone in my family was getting solar for their homes at the same time. My wife and I got several quotes for a solar system, Zenernet was not the cheapest, but their salesman Mike was fantastic. He was trustworthy and because of that we decided to go with them. Mike explained all the systems that we would be getting, and then when we went to go sign the contract they substituted the inverter with one that we did not discuss. My brothers went with another company and we signed our contracts on the same week. My brothers got their solar systems designed and installed before December 31 so that they could get the extra tax credit. Once we signed the papers we knew that it would be a push to close out by the end of the year, but we were assigned a project manager who did not do his job. They told us about the buildersnet site and how we would be able to monitor the construction, that was an awesome site, but the guys at Zenernet refused to update it with anything. We had to ask repeatedly for information about our project and we would hear nothing. Four months later our system was finally installed and it only took the guys from Zenernet 5 days to contact the city so we could start using the system. Once everything was working we were pleased, but that was short lived. After 2 months we noticed a drop in our daily production We were approaching the long summer months and for some reason we were not producing as much energy as we were in the early spring. Currently (September) we are producing approximately 20 KWH less than we were in March and have so all summer. Heather from Zenernet told us to wait for 6 months results to verify that there is a problem. In August because of COVID and kids at home attending school virtually we needed to upgrade our WIFI and because of this we lost connection of our monitoring system. It took 6 weeks for Zenernet to get us back on line. Now they are saying that because they don't have a clear reading of our solar production that they want to wait 2 more months. They are literally the worst company and I regret that we used them. I was duped, and paid more for this,

Bad Experience with Zenernet

The process started well enough. Heather was quite perceptive and helpful; she explained the options and the preliminary steps of the process. However, once the ball moved to David, everything went downhill. First, my solar panels did not pass city inspection on January 6, which delayed the process by 23 days. It passed the next inspection on January 29; however, there was no word on connecting to the grid. In the meantime, I have been paying the PG&E bill without reduction. After emailing David multiple times and not getting a straight answer, I called PG&E and was able to speak with someone in their solar division who looked up my account and said that they had received my signed agreement document on February 20th, almost a month after the house panels passed inspection! It took Zenernet almost a month to send PG&E my signed document. Given my terrible experience, I cannot recommend Zenernet to anyone.
