Strung along since June 2021
I signed my contract in June 2021. The expectation set was that worse case permit will take 3 months and I am still waiting and it is May 2022. Almost a year! Their sales was efficient. Their customer service sucks - high churn on the point of contact. And zero transparency to permitting process. Each time response is that city asked for more details every other month. When I ask for details on what details got missed - silence!
Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)
We sincerely apologize for the lengthy permitting process that has caused this project to drag on. It's not always that things get "missed," it's that sometimes local authorities can have poor documentation on their requirements, or be arbitrary in asking for additional information that they did not say they required. It's extremely frustrating for us as well. We are doing all we can to move things along. We appreciate your patience.

Nothing but issues
We had our solar installed by one of their subcontractors in 2021. It took almost a year to have them resolve a HUGE issue. When they initially went to install our solar system at our home, they started to place the box / dig a trench that was not what we signed for in our contract. Thank goodness my husband was home and spoke to the foreman who then had to remove everything and backfill the trench. We had to buy grass seed and fix the mud / dirt they left behind from the trench was at least 25 feet long. The holes on our new home and metal garage were "patched" however we wanted it fixed to be like it was initially. After not paying our final installment for several months, the CIO? of Zenernet called us. Why hadn't we paid our final bill? He had NO CLUE what had happened however we had photos, emails, and text messages. We ended up settling for the damages however I am warning anyone who wants to use them that they use subcontractors that are NOT LICENSED. These subs were out of Missouri.

We're sorry that the experience during your project didn't meet your expectations or the standards we set for ourselves. In regards to the installers, all of the third-party installers who we work with are licensed in the state where they operate. However, it looks like in this case the installer we contracted may have in turned hired a subcontractor to cover their projects while some of their staff were out ill. Although this was outside our control, we do take note of it when deciding which third-party installers we will continue to work with, and we are assembling our own Zenernet install teams in our busiest markets to better ensure we deliver the install experience our customers deserve. We apologize once again for our shortcomings in your project and we do appreciate your feedback.

Disappointed But Hopeful
I revied 5 different solar power suppliers in my area. I looked at reviews Cost per watt, BBB references etc, and spent two weeks reviewing my options. Eventually, in late august, I decide that Zernernet would be my supplier of choice, and signed an agreement in august of 2021. At that time, I was told that typical installations would take about 90 days. At that time, I hoped to get the 2021 solar tax rebates on my 2021 tax filing. By signing in august, I assumed the system would be installed by thanksgiving. When I signed my paperwork, I was told I needed to add a new switch panel in my basement, at a cost of 2000$. Well, as I waited I got various Emails that this, or that project manager had taken over my project. 30 days came and went, 60 days came and went, 90 days came and went. In mid-December I received an E mail giving me a copy of the drawings Zenernet’s engineers had produced for my job, and submitted to my utility for approval. December, 120 days, came and went, with a new project manager. January, 150 days came, and went. On February 14, 2022, I received a phone call, by my local installer, that he wished to install my system the next day, Tuesday Feb 15, 2022. No notice, call or E Mail by Zenernet, at all. The system was installed in one day. More waiting, and waiting. Another Project manager, I think. On March 9, I received a phone call from Joshua, an inspector for Zenernet, that Saint Charles city was sending an inspector to review and approve my installation. At that time I noticed , the extra fuse box I paid about 2000$ for was not installed, and I asked the Zenernet representative to not this on his review. I notified my Project manager I needed a refund for the missing panel. On Friday, March 11, I contacted my local utility, about applying for my utility solar rebate. Then a surprise, a BIG surprise, my system design drawings had been rejected in December, with a request for drawing revisions to be made. I Immediately contacted my project manager, and, as an engineer myself, was ably to explain that system SIZE approval was NOT approval of the nots, bolts, wiring, and switches, and the letter thay had received needed action on their part. Also, I was notified automatic checkbook deductions would start a month later. On March 14, drawings were submitted to my utility, with a comment asking for a not to be added to my drawings. It is now March 22, 2022, Revised drawing have not been submitted to my utility, which takes 30 days to review submittals, my billing starts in 3 weeks, and I do not know when the system will be operational. I still hope my solar system will be operational soon. I assume that when turned on it will function as promised.

One thing after another
Not even sure where to start. The sales process was great. Then install kept being delayed for months. We were patient as they were very communicative through the process. As it got closer, the actual install day was changed 4 times the week before, which was frustrating. The install initially seemed to go well, until the team left and we realized they had broken our garage door. It took a a week and a half to get them back, by which time we found out our system was installed incorrectly from the utility company. Three more times and 8 weeks later they finally got it right (or so we thought), only to have the system turned on and the battery backup system to not be functioning at all. So now we're waiting for them to come put yet again (3 emails and no response to the first two) and will be waiting another two weeks to have it fixed. Extremely unhappy with this company that initially seemed to have it all together.
