Thieves

This guy's were so good to us before we signed up with them but once they got our money they switched to being liar's and thieves! At 5his point we're not even sure the company still exists, we have called and emailed for months and all we get is silence from them. We really regret being dupped by them and being so stupid to believe that they actually cared about their customers. If anyone is thinking of using them, DON'T!! spare yourself the pain and heartache. I give them a negative 1000 star review. Insert all manner of insults here!

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

I assure you we still exist, Robert, and we're very troubled to read this review. Please reach out to dmiddleton@zenernet.com so I can look up your project to see what's going on. I can't locate it with just your first name and city.

Nothing but issues

We had our solar installed by one of their subcontractors in 2021. It took almost a year to have them resolve a HUGE issue. When they initially went to install our solar system at our home, they started to place the box / dig a trench that was not what we signed for in our contract. Thank goodness my husband was home and spoke to the foreman who then had to remove everything and backfill the trench. We had to buy grass seed and fix the mud / dirt they left behind from the trench was at least 25 feet long. The holes on our new home and metal garage were "patched" however we wanted it fixed to be like it was initially. After not paying our final installment for several months, the CIO? of Zenernet called us. Why hadn't we paid our final bill? He had NO CLUE what had happened however we had photos, emails, and text messages. We ended up settling for the damages however I am warning anyone who wants to use them that they use subcontractors that are NOT LICENSED. These subs were out of Missouri.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

We're sorry that the experience during your project didn't meet your expectations or the standards we set for ourselves. In regards to the installers, all of the third-party installers who we work with are licensed in the state where they operate. However, it looks like in this case the installer we contracted may have in turned hired a subcontractor to cover their projects while some of their staff were out ill. Although this was outside our control, we do take note of it when deciding which third-party installers we will continue to work with, and we are assembling our own Zenernet install teams in our busiest markets to better ensure we deliver the install experience our customers deserve. We apologize once again for our shortcomings in your project and we do appreciate your feedback.

Poor project management

This company has poor project management. Sales are great and nice. Promise you that the team will be there with you but after you sign the contract and have a project management assign to you. You are left in the dark in regards to the status of your project unless you keep contacting the customer service line because your project manager will not respond. We are still waiting for the blueprint and waiting for to get the engineering to approve of the plan so that it can be sent for permitting. They told us it should take 1-3 days been it’s almost 1.5-2 months. Take the reviews with 5 stars with a grain of salt. Project management sucks at this company. It is not a smooth process like the sales represented said it will be.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

We're sorry for the delays in your project and that the communication hasn't been up to the standard you deserve. Since the beginning of the year have been working to add staff and improve procedures in our operations department to give homeowners the experience during the install process they deserve. We understand your frustration and appreciate your continued patience.

Awesome, reliable and honest!

This company is the real deal! When I was looking for a solar company, I went with Zenernet due to the superior quality of materials and best pricing all-around. I want to give kudos to all the folks that helped me along the way from my salesman, John Eddleman, to my project manager, Sarah Hansen, to the owner JP Gerken; it has been a pleasure to work with such amazing folks. It has been evident from my experience that their staff is experienced, and they exude professionalism with everything they do. My transaction had hiccups along the way, but the friendly support staff was understanding and helped me when I needed them most. I really enjoyed working with such professionals and will highly recommend to all my friends. Thank you so much Zenernet, for helping me go green and in doing so, saving me money, helping the planet and for all that you guys do! Keep up the great work!

BUYER BEWARE!

My husband and I began our journey in August 2021. No transparency whatsoever as salesman said this company is big in communication and transparency. Extremely Once they rope you in, it's all downhill from there. After paying $31, 800, we feel ripped off. I went to the County and got the permits myself (Zenernet strung us along with poor excuses regarding obtaining the permits). Called the installer to set everything up and wrote numerous emails asking for updates. Even CC'd the VP on the emails to the project manager (new one) and still just excuse after excuse. Had we known how much frustration this company would give us we would have definitely gone with a different company. we have a flat roof and some of the screws went through the ceiling and split a beam as well. No one ever addressed it. We sent pictures and still nothing. I don't write reviews but felt compelled to write about our horrible experience. Hope you think twice if planning on using Zenernet for your solar.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

We're sorry we haven't been able to give you the experience that we set out to deliver and that you deserved. As Jeremy assured you in his call earlier this week, we will be updating you regularly on the status as we work to get this one over the finish line.

Terrible project management and poor communication

Sales rep was excellent, so we decided to go with Zenernet, but after signing the contract, it has been a hell. We got 4 different project managers/concierge, none of them were responsive. We had to ask sales rep to get project managers contact me several times, as we did not get response from them otherwise. After 5 months, we still have not got permit - it took two months to complete the design and then they sent permit application to a wrong city! When the city told Zenernet it was a wrong city, they sat on it for a whole month until we found out from my city no permit application has been submitted to my city. During this time, project managers told us permit process should go quickly, or they should get permit status in a few weeks - none of them were honest enough to tell us the truth or had no intention to find out the true permit status. Had we known the project management was this poor, we would not have selected Zenernet. We feel unfortunate as we see many reviews that had great experience with this company, yet we have not been able to get the same experience.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

We apologize for the errors that caused these delays in the permitting process. If you could reach out with your full contact info, we'd like to investigate your cause further to see how we can avoid these problems in the future.

Disappointed But Hopeful

I revied 5 different solar power suppliers in my area. I looked at reviews Cost per watt, BBB references etc, and spent two weeks reviewing my options. Eventually, in late august, I decide that Zernernet would be my supplier of choice, and signed an agreement in august of 2021. At that time, I was told that typical installations would take about 90 days. At that time, I hoped to get the 2021 solar tax rebates on my 2021 tax filing. By signing in august, I assumed the system would be installed by thanksgiving. When I signed my paperwork, I was told I needed to add a new switch panel in my basement, at a cost of 2000$. Well, as I waited I got various Emails that this, or that project manager had taken over my project. 30 days came and went, 60 days came and went, 90 days came and went. In mid-December I received an E mail giving me a copy of the drawings Zenernet’s engineers had produced for my job, and submitted to my utility for approval. December, 120 days, came and went, with a new project manager. January, 150 days came, and went. On February 14, 2022, I received a phone call, by my local installer, that he wished to install my system the next day, Tuesday Feb 15, 2022. No notice, call or E Mail by Zenernet, at all. The system was installed in one day. More waiting, and waiting. Another Project manager, I think. On March 9, I received a phone call from Joshua, an inspector for Zenernet, that Saint Charles city was sending an inspector to review and approve my installation. At that time I noticed , the extra fuse box I paid about 2000$ for was not installed, and I asked the Zenernet representative to not this on his review. I notified my Project manager I needed a refund for the missing panel. On Friday, March 11, I contacted my local utility, about applying for my utility solar rebate. Then a surprise, a BIG surprise, my system design drawings had been rejected in December, with a request for drawing revisions to be made. I Immediately contacted my project manager, and, as an engineer myself, was ably to explain that system SIZE approval was NOT approval of the nots, bolts, wiring, and switches, and the letter thay had received needed action on their part. Also, I was notified automatic checkbook deductions would start a month later. On March 14, drawings were submitted to my utility, with a comment asking for a not to be added to my drawings. It is now March 22, 2022, Revised drawing have not been submitted to my utility, which takes 30 days to review submittals, my billing starts in 3 weeks, and I do not know when the system will be operational. I still hope my solar system will be operational soon. I assume that when turned on it will function as promised.

I started the solar/battery backup installation in October 2021 and paid the deposit. I was promised to have the system installed the first week of December 2021. The last time I was able to communicate with Sarah Hansen was on December 29, 2021. She requested for most of the contract to be paid in order to buy the parts. The permit is in process. Luckily I have not fallen in their trap. Since January 2022, I have tried to contact Sarah Hansen, Alexandra Cuereri, Alicia Andrews or anyone from customer service by phone, text and email multiple times. Now I am in the end of March 2022. There is a deadly silence, not even a courtesy to reply back to me. I would like to request a refund. Then I will restart the process again. I don’t even know how to ask for a refund. Zenernet is just not responding. Please avoid this company. The sales people are super efficient to book the project but customer service is non existent.

STAY AWAY!

STAY AWAY!  Giving this company a 1 star is more than they deserve.   I was promised by sales that my solar would be installed in 2-3 months.  It has now been 6 months and Zenernet cannot even get the plans approved.  I live in a neighborhood with solar on almost half of the houses so getting solar installed is not uncommon by any means.  Zenernet's plans for the city have been declined 7 times and they still do not have it approved!  The people doing the actual work for Zenernet clearly do not know how to do their job.  In addition, the communication from Zenernet is horrible and it's like pulling teeth to get anything done or get answers. The best thing I can do now is share my honest experience to help others so they don't make the same mistake of using Zenernet.

I have had 8 different representatives leave. I literally don't know who is in charge of my project.

Don’t let them fool you into thinking they’re a responsive company. They are absolutely not. They can’t even get the initial steps done. What will they do with anything else, like warranty. Avoid this company.

Pandemic, supply chain - they still did a good job

This is going to be lengthy --- we went through quite a deep investigation before we committed. We reached out to 16 different solar companies initially, vetted that down to a final six for actual proposals and designs. From there we selected two to negotiate with. Zenernet's sale representative was responsive, kept us informed, and answered all our questions. We wanted to offset our electrical cost fully and we have a 5K sq ft home, with a monthly electrical cost of around $200 ($32 of that is tax and service fees from the utility that will never go away). In the state of Colorado they limit us to a 10 KwH solar array so we went with a 9 KwH system. We determined to purchase our system, not to lease. We had a couple of exceptions that we needed to have in place as to the pay structure and Zenernet was able to work that out to our satisfaction. Our system cost $28K with around a $7500 tax credit we get back this year, so our actual net cost will be around $21K. Warranty was very important to us as to the panels, installation, and roof penetration. Zenernet either met the competion or exceeded the competition. We did run into a couple of issues - one (not unusual right now) the supply chain was disrupted and it took a month or so longer to get the panels, we also needed to have "snow guards" installed so that snow would not sleet off enmasse as the install is above our back patio and deck. The snow guards also caused a delay in the installation. Another issue was - again not unusual during the pandemic- Zenernet had some personnel turnover as we moved into an active phase of design and interaction with the installing company (GOGreen). They lost the project manager assigned to our account, he left with very little notice and the individual who took his place was overwhelmed for a bit. For a while I felt that I had become the project manager assigned to our project as I was doing a lot of follow up with the city and utility company as we went through the process of approvals. The supply chain issues and the personnel issues can be laid at the feet of the pandemic and I don't blame Zenernet - they actually were a very good company to work and recovered extremely well from the supply chain disruption and the loss of the PM. Zenernet subcontracted the installation out to GoGreen Solar who did a fantastic job as the installer. We also had some issues with the utility approving the plans, but again, the pandemic had impacts with their personnel as well. While we have a short history of a fully up and running system, we are fully offsetting the cost of our electric use now, in the middle of the winter with the shortest days of the year and with the sun at the lowest in the sky. As the days get longer and the sun rises higher in the sky we fully expect to generate a good amount of credits by the end of the year. In conclusion, I am very satisfied with where we are at and with Zenernet - the were not the cheapest, we did have a few issues (that were resolved) and the system is meeting our expectations.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

Hello Bruce. We appreciate you bearing with us during the disruptions this year and it's great to hear you're so satisfied with your system. Thanks very much for your thorough review!

I emailed and left messages to cancel project and for my money to be returned back to me. Still waiting.

Cant Finish The Job

We are still in the middle of a solar install. After the panels were installed and the main service panel (11/19/2021) was updated we payed the final payment. The initial inspection was not passed (11/29/2021). Since then Zenernet employees have basically refused to answer email or phone calls. Only by calling the main office and complaining did I get a phone call back from the person responsible for handling the inspections. At this point my stucco around the main service panel still needs to be patched and rework needs to be performed to pass inspections. So we have been in limbo for a month (12/17/2021) and there is no signs that Zeneret is going to complete the job. They have the money and it is no longer in their interest to finish.

Nightmare

Zenernet has a lot of good reviews. Probably because they start asking for reviews prior to performing any work. Our experience with Zenernet has been a nightmare. We signed up in March and our panels were not fully installed until September. Even then, we had to ask them to come back to correct framing sticking out from under the panels. Their contractor fixed the problem on one side and left framing sticking out the other side. They also did nothing to prevent pigeons from nesting under the panels. Our roof is now covered with pigeon poop. Upon inspection of our roof, we discovered numerous cracked and broken tiles leading to, surrounding and even under the new solar panels. Further, tiles were removed from the opposite side of our roof leaving two holes for today's rain to poor into. Weeks have passed since we complained about the roof damage and no one has as yet come out to inspect or repair our roof. We now need to access the attic to inspect for water damage. In addition to the above, So Cal Edison has repeatedly rejected Zenernet's application for permission to operate the new solar panels. It's now December and we still do not have SCE approval.

Response from Zenernet (Out of Business)

Hi Bernie - we are sorry to hear about the poor experience and we are actively working to resolve your concerns. We are close to obtaining permission to operate from SCE and are working to schedule a site visit to assess and repair the tile damage to your roof. We will be in contact about these steps and look forward to getting your project completed to your satisfaction and ours.

No explanation from Zenernet. I mean, all they do is solar. Why can't they design a system that meets approval? So I have no panels, no batteries, no inverter and no money.
