My amazing experience with Hugo DA Silva at Solar Bear

Hugo DA Silva at Solar Bear has gone above and beyond for my family and I. He has personally followed up with me every step of the way through getting our solar panels hooked up. He even drove to my house in Boynton Beach from Ft. Lauderdale on his day off to make sure he was here for the final inspections to get everything done properly. He is an asset to the company and I strongly recommend Solar Bear to anybody that is thinking about getting solar panels. He made what could have been a very stressful experience a delightful and exciting one. He always took the time to answer all my questions even giving me his cell number and always came out so I could just deal with him directly. I can’t thank you enough Hugo! A+++++ employee.

Excellent experience!

My experience with Solar Bear was excellent from start to finish. The sales rep was knowledgeable and responsive. The project manager did a good job communicating. The construction work, permitting and inspection was done in a timely fashion. Don't expect your project to get done overnight, but they do very well moving things along steadily and communicate along the way.

I would definitely recommend solar bear. They kept it 100 from jump. Our sales rep Brian went step by step and everything said has been true the entire way. All solar bear employees that came afterwards to install the panels, remove and install foam insulation as well as Hugo who completed the end of our journey was phenomenal. Solar Bear gets an a+. They deserve it.

My rep Tom was an asset through this whole process. He was masterful when answering all my initial questions and helping guide me through this journey. During activation of the system Hugo was very knowledgeable and offered further assistance by answering all of my questions. Will definitely recommend Solar Bear to friends and family.

Nice job from start to finish. From Dave the salesman to Hugo who answer all my questions and activated the system. The meter is already running backwards sending excess power to the grid. Would recommend using Solar Bear!

Started good. Then not so good, then good at end

So, I purchased a Solar Bear system costing me over $60K. The original sales person who was recommend to me by a good friend of mine started off ok but after a year went sour. Thank goodness I still have my friendship with the person that recommended the sales person. It is obvious the sales person (don't want to mention name) wanted his commission money so the solar panels were rushed to get installed onto my house. So when this happened, it began a snowball effect turning out no good. But then a woman named Patricia Allen swooped in (like super woman) to save the day! Now I've never met Ms. Allen in person but I wish I could... I explained everything that occurred with my situation and she agreed it was handled incorrectly and she advised she would make it right. Which she definitely did. Ms. Patricia Allen is one of those employees that should be recognized for her dedication and selfless service to her job. I HOPE THE OWNER'S OF SOLAR BEAR READ THIS AND GIVE HER A RAISE, AN ATTAYBOY OR AT THE VERY LEAST AN AWARD WITH VACATION DAYS ADDED. Ms. Allen is on it and when she says she'll handle it, IT GETS DONE! Thank you Ms. ALLEN for giving me my confidence back in customer service and feeling warm and fuzzy inside.. I figured it was gone even with spending over $60K. I declined to give 5 stars due to the first sales person I delt with and what transpired at the start. But definitely 5 stars for Ms. Allen and the ending!!

A Horrible experience. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!

In February 2022 Solar Bear installed solar at my home. They also re-insulated my attic. the insulation was done wrong causing damage to my air handler which led to dry wall damage. The spray foam was applied incorrectly and has encapsulated my attic completely and rendered it inaccessible. I cannot do any service to anything in my attic. my house is 50 years old and will need to be re-piped at some point, but I no longer have an attic to do that in. My home will never pass an inspection if I wanted to sell it. I have repeatedly asked Solar bear to remedy the situation, and my cries have fallen on deaf ears. They have offered to pay to fix the air handler, which I have had done, but are completely unresponsive for nearly a month. I don't want to get a lawyer involved, but what else can I do??

Gone Solar and happy

Reached out to a few companies about installing solar at my home. Solar Bear was the company which came out on top. I gave Tom a hard time during his presentation and got a great deal for the best equipment. Installation took a few months and got done before Christmas. Hugo, the local customer liaison was excellent throughout the whole process. I am super happy with Solar Bear

Competent but unimpressive delivery

I paid about $3 per watt. This was a fair price for the products that I selected compared to the competitors. I chose Solar Bear over the competitors because of the promise of a "kids glove" concierge service. Solar Bear was quickly able to switch from Silfab panels to Solaria panels, which I preferred, when the Silfab panels were not readily available through CED. For that, I give kudos. I assumed that the concierge would help me navigate the solar installation process from start to finish and he would keep on top of things. However, after the initial introduction meeting with the sales man and the concierge, I had little to no contact. I had to initiate contact with the concierge more times than not. There were some unfortunate delays that kept Duke from finalizing their approval in a timely manner. This resulted in about a month or two of lost energy production with the system installed, but unable to produce. It fell on me to work with Duke directly to get the issues resolved. The concierge should have done a better job of keeping up with the approval process. After Duke finalized the approval, my system had a bad micro-inverter. Solar Bear is just a sales and installation company. They do not provide pro-active monitoring. I had to inform them of the bad micro-inverter. The process to get the micro-inverter replaced was unnecessarily arduous. I also specifically asked for no conduit to appear on my roof. I expected everything to be routed in the attic. I communicated my concern verbally to the concierge and the installer. This was never resolved and the is a visible eye sore on my roof. The insulation and electric panel were performed adequately. The solar installation was performed in a timely manner. However, they failed to follow through with Duke and to keep me informed and up-to-date with the progress. All in all, I would not recommend Solar Bear nor rely on their "kids glove" concierge service.

Everything has been great from solar bear. There where some delays and some miss communication but over all I am satisfied we choose them.

Giving solar industry a bad name

I had Solar Bear install new panels in two houses about three years ago. One set for myself and one for my in-laws. Since installation, it has been a growing regret. The biggest issue is the quality and reliability of their equipment (mostly the converter). In both houses, at least twice a year, the system goes down. As a result, it takes at least two weeks to get anyone out here to repair them, then to do the whole electric bill reimbursement from the weeks of being down, which is not even a guarantee as Solar Bear has been stingy even with this. This is a yearly routine, 2-3 times a year. I may have paid more into my electricity before the panels, but had a lot more reliability and consistency from the electric company. I have been noticing that the majority of these reviews in multiple sites are from recent installations which are less likely to have issues. Wait a couple of months and then the issues begin. I support green energy, but the solar industry needs more consistent equipment and an infrastructure that can reliably maintain existing installations.

Great service!

Tom was very helpful and informative when going solar. He gave me the best bang for the buck! Hugo was great with any further questions after install. JP is helping me with reimbursement of my 3rd loan payment due to some uncontrollable delays. Thanks so much to the Solarbear team!

The work was done in a timely matter, communication with vendor was extremely good. Only minor issues with the County Inspection but we would recommend them for their great customer service.

Me and my wife are very happy we made the switch to solar we are retired and on a fix income and now we have a set bill and we don't have to worry about the bill going up. Everyone should switch to solar and make sure you use solar bear.

The best one of the seven we talked with

Matt DeCoste was our sales rep. very professional, knowledgeable and no high pressure. I really liked the company’s mission statement. The guys that came out for install and inspections etc were all very friendly and professional as well. They had very high reviews online and that was a key component in the decision process. Many solar companies had lots of bad reviews. Solar Bear takes care of business and their customers and that’s why they have great reviews. When you spend a lot of money you want to be satisfied for sure. I had a little issue for a bit but a key employee jumped in and took care of the problem right away. It was good to see that they have people that can make things happen. Matt always took our calls and followed up even after the sale was complete. That was comforting as well. This company is on the Good to Great track in business. We have a 9.62Kw system with two Enphase batteries. Should be able to backup most of the house.

Everyone from solar Bear did a great job. I can wait to start saving money. Everyone was polite and professional. I would do it all over again if I had to. Thank you solar Bear.

Tom has been amazing and process so far has been seem less! We had spoken with 4 other companies before meeting with Solar Bear. Once it was explained that they did their own lifetime roofing and were ranked so highly we knew this was the right choice. I’ve already referred a couple people and more to come!

Everything was great overall from sales all the way to turning the system on.
