Latest good review thumbs up

So far So Good,... Mostly.

I'm currently in the middle of my 4 year with this system. I've only had One mechanical issue with a failed inverter 2 years in. Unfortunately that took 3 Months to resolve and that was a struggle. There was a serious lack of communication with Sigora Tech support and service to the point were I had to call SolarEdge myself to get the right parts a procedures for replacement. They did however reimburse me for the loan payments on the system for those 3 Months. I do not have a battery wall but I do get energy credits from Dominion Energy so my only bills are usually July and August but they are fairly small <$80.

Pure Garbage of a Company

Like everyone else, I was scammed into buying a $50K system. Electricals were done wrong and subsequent attempts at corrections were disastrous. Now stuck with a partially functioning system, electrical bills, and a loan to pay. There is more to the solar system scams than the company on the frontline. It's Sigora, it's its financing partners, and in part the government for pushing and promoting solar and exposing us badly. Can we come together and sue?

Mischa | Partlow, VA | 11/20/2023

Lies Lies Lies

We bought a system from Sigora when it was Sigora Solar and we were told we have a 20 year warranty (same as our loan contract). Well they changed their name to Sigora Home and no longer honor their warranties. Buyer beware.

Christina T | Fredericksburg, VA | 11/19/2023

Company shows to be out-of-business

I had my solar system installed last year. I've been luckier than the other reviewers from this year. Looks like Sigora went out of business in September, but my first notification was from Enphase. In early November, they sent a couple of emails assigning my system to a new company/tech for support as needed.

John_in_VA | Richmond, VA | 10/09/2023

Was great until....

Installation and everything went fine, was working well until a few months ago and now I CANNOT GET A CALL BACK!!!

Mario | Sherman Oaks, CA | 09/29/2023

THEY STIFFED THE ROOFER

Last October I secured a loan with Dividend Financial for 60K. That included a new roof for 16K., Solar System 34K. And electrical updates for 9.9K. The collected the 59.9K but never paid the roofer or completed the electrical upgrades. I am stock with roofer bill and the rest of the problems. DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. PERIOD.

Maryann & Phil in Burnet Commons | Charlottesville, VA | 09/26/2023

Ghosted

Started out ok in 2019. Installed 2020. Found in 2023 that errors were made in the electrical work. How did it pass city inspection?? Managed to get them to come out and fix it (I hope!) They left a big hole in the garage wall saying someone would be out to repair it in 'a couple of weeks'. Weeks go by and no one comes or calls. I call, twice so far, leave messages both times, and no response. If I could I'd give them 0 stars for installation quality and after sales support, I would.

Arch R | Mechanicsville, VA | 09/17/2023

Mixed review

I had panels installed 3 years ago and am very happy. So I recommended the company to a friend, I now regret that decision. He had the system installed with battery backup, the system was installed incorrectly, so the batteries now need replacing because of the bad installation. Sigora refuses talk with him. The article in The Daily Progress 07/07/23 describes exactly what he is experiencing

Travis Stoner | Jarrell, TX | 09/13/2023

No Support

Everything was fine until 15 months post-install. For the last 6 months, I have had an array down for an unknown reason. This is causing major production loss during one of the hottest summers in Texas. I’ve called support and emailed them every two weeks if not once a month. Over a dozen attempts and only ONCE have they responded. They never replied to me after that response and still do not reply.

ELH | Waynesboro, VA | 08/17/2023

Terrible customer service

We bought a house with Sigora solar panels already installed, and we’ve repeatedly found their customer service miserable. Believe the other 1-star reviews. If you’re shopping for solar, choose another company. This company’s sales team is excellent but once you become a customer in need of service, it’s hard to come by.

Jsull | Powhatan, VA | 07/14/2023

Used to be good

When we initially started with Sigora the company was great and was very available answering any and all questions we had. Now here we are 3-4 years later and the only way I can get anyone on the phone is to ask for instillation. We need our roof replaced and need to have the solar panels removed then replaced. No one has returned the multiple messages and requests for service that have been sent over the past month. I have referred multiple people to this company and after this recent experience regret all of it.

Francine Johnston | Waynesboro, VA | 07/06/2023

No Response after a month of calls!

I have been trying to contact Sigora daily for over a month. No one answers the phone and no one ever returns my calls. With thousands of dollars invested in my panels this is downright frightening! I need service and there does not appear to be anyone out there. It was a great little local company here in Waynesboro when I got my first panels installed about 8 years ago. It had grown bigger and moved to Charlottesville by 2020 when I had some additional panels installed and I was not quite as pleased with the service. Now they seem to have just disappeared.

Frances Coates | Waldorf, MD | 06/29/2023

Worst experience I've ever had. I have had the panels on my roof for 1 yr and have not been able to get them activated . When I call they say someone will give you a call back. That call has never came. The supervisor over my contract, mailbox is full and has been that way for a week.

Art Whittaker | Hampton, VA | 06/19/2023

9 months is too long

I signed my contract with Sigora September 16, 2022 and I still don't have a working system, the installation failed the first inspection a week ago because the Sigora representative had the wrong paperwork and the city inspector refused to do the inspection until the paperwork was corrected. I have not heard from Sigora about when the next inspection will be held. I would recommend Sigora to no one at this time. Because of all the stress I have had with this process I think I should get a discount, as well as a working system.

Mad Customer | Free Union, VA | 06/16/2023

Disgusted with Incompetent Company

I signed a contract with Sigora Solar (now Sigora Home) in May 2022 and installation was conducted in August 2022. At installation I was told that the Generac backup battery system wasn't working and that a part would be ordered to fix it. I was never told any details about the order. It took three months to get the Generac inverter functioning, and five months to get the battery part replaced. However, after several power outages where the battery failed to provide backup power, I then was told by technicians that the battery (an "indoor" model) goes into "Standby" mode when the air temperature drops below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. Since my location is on top of a mountain at 3100 feet elevation, the outdoor temperature is frequently below 45 degrees F, especially during late fall, winter and early spring. The site analysis should have resulted in Sigora ordering an "outdoor" rated battery system that can function in subzero conditions, and should have told me of the operating temperature of the battery that they ordered and installed. If they had told me this, I would have asked them to install it indoors. I complained to the company repeatedly, but they stopped responding to me in April. Also, the company is not cooperating with my attempts to find out what monitoring system is being used; so as a result, I am currently unable to sell credits for the total amount of energy the system is producing ("SRECs"). I filed a BBB complaint, which the company never responded to, along with dozens of other complaints they failed to respond to, resulting in the BBB suspending the accreditation of Sigora Home (at least of Charlottesville, if not all other offices). Oh, and by the way, the company has gotten rid of it's so-called, failed "Customer Excellence" team. If they ever really had one, it didn't accomplish much. I've informed them that I will file a complaint with the Virginia State Corporation Commission, for what little good that might do; also will complain directly to Generac, which apparently has numerous problems of its own; and will consider other options. Nobody in their right mind should sign a contract with this company, and based on what I've seen, they are circling the toilet and headed for bankruptcy.

Michael from Kansas | Wichita, KS | 05/11/2023

Do NOT Recommend

Our panels have not been operable for over two months. We have attempted to contact customer support and technical support on a regular basis. The only responses we've received is an apology for the continued delayed. This is the same response that we received when it took over a year and a half to install the panels.

Dabney | Oak Island, NC | 05/09/2023

Do not do business with this company

We signed a contract to install solar on our property in Brunswick county, NC in August 2023. Sigora came to evaluate my roof, and this started some round-and-round with them. My parents live down the street, and also signed a contract for solar. I have the same name as my father, and us having the same name, living on the same street caused (and still causes) problems for Sigora. I repeatedly received emails and calls meant for my father, and vice-versa. My father had issues with Sigora on the battery he had included in his contract. After several rounds of back and forth, I finally understood that Sigora had an issue with the condition of my roof (12 years old with 30 year shingles), and they wanted me to sign a document absolving them of any liability for damage or issues with the roof from their install. I did not agree with that plan, and subsequently cancelled the contract and requested a refund. Sigora was never very responsive after the sale, but once I asked for a refund, responsiveness dropped off substantially. Phone calls were never returned. No response (aside from the "Well get back to you in 72 business hours") to any email inquiries. It's now May, five months after I requested a refund, and I still have not received it. I have contacted the NC Attorney General's complaint department, and Sigora has not responded to the Attorney General's letter requesting a response to my complaint. If you want Solar, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere - to a company that is responsive to customers.

JS | Fishersville, WA | 04/27/2023

Great initially; poor support years in

I love, and do not regret, going solar with what was then Sigora Solar in 2017. However, in 2022, when 25% of the 40 microinverters on our system report production or reporting issues, and I have for 9 months requested service appointments to investigate (with two scheduled appointments and no follow-through), I find myself quite frustrated with the ongoing service that was promised when we purchased our large system. I have again reached out to their support in the hopes of follow-through this time. Will report later if they responded!

Don Tuculet | Gloucester, VA | 04/20/2023

Frustration with Sigora

My past and current experience with Sigora is turning out to be horrible. Based on my electrical bills this past year, I've found the electrical production of my current solar system that was installed last year to be exceptionally under rated. Based on Enphase information on my current solar installation and using the Enphase Design Installation program with the yearly electrical usage for my home, my current installation is about 60% under rated for my needs. On trying to resolve the discrepant electrical production with Sigora, I've agreed to a contract to add an additional 13 solar panels to my roof. But I've been told by the Sigora project representative that the 13 panels may not fit. As a result, I've asked for the Sigora Design Team to contact me on this issue to help me understand what might be preventing the 13 solar panels from being installed as contracted. It's been several weeks and I have yet to hear anything from the Design Team. Please have the Sigora Design Team call me back on this issue. Thanks, Don T (removed for privacy)

The biggest scammers I’ve ever experienced at this adult age. Julisa would sweet talk you into speaking highly of the company until you sign the agreement. How everybody is converting to their company which is a bold face lie cause the only way you can get some type of contact is when you’re a new customer. Then she falls off the face of the planet and has nothing else to do with you. My house is not totally energy efficient and I’ve been waiting on light bulbs from Aubrey since 2022. These past 4 months nothing but excuses so be glad to get any type of response. So I’m assuming they’re coming from a different planet because amazon only takes 2 days if you do your job. Barton decided to step in as my go to person since Shelly left the company. To then do absolutely nothing no return emails no nothing. The only semi good is my bill went down and the referral credit that you and the referee get of $500. It never happened Lydia said in Jan I should get it well it’s not April . Anybody considering just pass go at this point

Lies and a rip-off

After 3 years of my electric bill continuing to increase, I know I was scammed. From the lies about all this money I was going to save and a fat rebate(which goes back to the company as part of the deal) to never having an electric bill again, it was all lies. My power company had no clue how much I was giving back to the grid, another lie that Sigora told me, which was supposed to build credit and reduce my bill to nothing. I spend an EXTRA $120 per monthly average on energy now, and that includes the new energy saving appliances purchased after getting the panels installed. This is in the top 3 of the worst decisions I have ever made in my life.

CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT | Dundalk, MD | 02/24/2023

Piece of **** total ripoff SCAM

Ever since having these useless panels, my electric bill has been higher than it’s ever been. There is no point in them other than bringing attention to your home because you’re the only person in the neighborhood that fell for the SCAM. Whenever I call and complain about having to pay an extremely high electric bill, plus the loan for these useless, just for show panels, I’m told, “it looks like your system is performing well and it’s saving you money”. WHERE?! I would like out of this loan, Class action, here I come!

Not good with following up.

I had my system installed and completed on 12/15/2020 and final inspection has not ne done yet. They always set up a date and never show up and you leave them messages, and no one calls back. I will not refer anyone to this company. The one I did refer sent in the information they never called them.

Sean Chase | Petersburg, VA | 02/15/2023

5 months and waiting

I started this process with speedy help and getting everything done within a month back in September, the electric company was the only thing we had to wait on and it took 3 weeks for them to and the inspector to approve me to turn it on. When I did in October I got an error say that one of my arrays wasn't registering. I called the customers service and selected tech support waited for 1 hour on hold with no help, I called every other in October until I decided to talk to the potential customer service people who were quick to answer the phone to let me know that they will push my concerns to tech support. I then spent November calling and email tech support until I got a response around the end of the month saying they are sending a tech out. I waited 2 weeks for tech to call me the day of the appointment saying he's not coming out that he is currently in North Carolina on another job and he would get with me about another date, if anything he would just show up and fix the issue on his own. December and January I've called once a week to try to get someone to come out still I sit on the phone for about an hour and stop. Today I call and after an hour on the phone someone answers and tells me that the customer service I've been trying to reach as hours between 10 and 2. I don't even know what to do anymore can't afford electric bill and this, I just want the panels gone.

Paying for nothing

Ive had a contact with sigora since august of 2022. As of februrary 2023 all I have to show for it is high power bills and the bills for the solar loan. Trying to get a hold of anyone thru as many means as possible has only resulted in Sigora's customer service team giving empty promises. I cant imagine how hard it will be to get tech support after install and at this point i just want out from under this loan.

Great Technicians/AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE

We were informed in December 2021 that our current modem (3G) would non longer work after march 31, 2022. Sent 3 emails stating that we wanted to purchase the new modem - no response. Finally tried again in August 2022 and were told that we needed to prepay. We were also told that our new Gateway WiFi modem would need a TP Links (for screened inverters). We pre-paid an additional 100.00 for this item ( total 830.00 on August 31, 2022). Technician arrived right on time and told us that the WiFi would not work and he would need to order a new cellular modem. Three hours later he called back and said that he was on another job and could not install the cellular modem and could use it on our home. We were very pleased with his thoughtful service (5 stars). He told us that we would not need the TP Links and would get a 100.00 refund. Sent an email to follow up on the refund and received a reply by Barton Schafer that he was forwarding it to the appropriate people and get back to us with an answer. 3 emails and 1 call since and we have received NO REPLY. We are now going on 90 days. Why should it take this long for a simple 100.00 refund. As an officer on our HOA (151 Homes) I have referred several of our homeowners to Sigora. As a former business owner for 40+years, our success was based on good customer service and client referrals. Why would you compromise your reputation over a promised 100.00 refund.

Kathleen Lorenzo | Huntersville , NC | 02/02/2023

Unresponsive

Our solar panels were installed in 2020. Everything has been good, until our roof started leaking and we set out to contact Sigora. With that said, it has been two weeks, multiple phone calls, online ticket repair requests, and there has been no contact with Sigora, completely UNRESPONSIVE. I believe there’s only one person in Customer Service, maybe the entire company, that picks up the phone. But the only service that can be offered is taking a message for a call back. I look forward to a response.

If you are looking for a Solar company, this ain't it

Working with this solar company has been pure amateur hour. They do not know what they are doing nor can you actually get a hold of anyone that knows what is going on. Our solar has been installed and we have had permission to operate for over 4 months and the system is still not working. We have had multiple technicians out to our house and each one knows less of what is going on that the previous. There is no turnover of previous notes. Each time a tech comes out, they spend hours diagnosis the problem and on the phone with someone from"technical" only to say they need new parts, new battery, or we were even told by one that the system was not installed correctly. We have Enphase batteries and were told by an Enphase tech that our batteries were not working and that we needed a new one. We also were told that the batteries were not wired correctly. What is interesting is that as you are going through the buying and installation process, they level of service is amazing, however once the system was installed and they got their money, it is a totally different company. How do we fix this? Are there good companies out there that take over for bad ones? At this point, I just want the system uninstalled and a refund.

TERRIBLE--WARNING

Worst company I have ever worked with in my entire life. The worst customer service, follow up, and the worst results..The biggest waste of money in my entire life. My units break often, they do not produce as promised and my electric bills are over $400 a month even with panels--how is this possible. I'm a Realtor and know what people with similar sized homes spend on electricity. DO NOT USE SIGORA SOLAR! They are SO FRIENDLY and nice and accommodating until they get your money and then it is TERRIBLE!

John Bayless | Goldsboro, NC | 01/17/2023

first it was great and then it went down hill fast

but 2 years later when you need some one just to try to schedule someone to look at the system because i have paid 2 electric bills now and no one wants to listen to me and this has been going on since December 14th . If you aint a new customer you can forget it from what i see. I am paying electric bills and solar loan payments so go else where . please prove me wrong. Prove me wrong, prove me wrong, prove me wrong , I dare you UPDATE, January 28, 2023: That connect to the WiFi would be great but the system has no power at all no LED lights they are dark, when will you all start listening to me about this it has been almost 2 months now, the enphase has no power!!!!!!!

Not good follow through

This company was great in the very beginning. They were very pleasant when speaking with them and quick to get our solar arrays up and quick to get paid. That was when the good service ended. When they placed them they left four ground rods out of the ground that we are unable to mow over. We have been told for the past 6 weeks that someone will call us to get this fixed and they are still sticking out of the ground!!! They left a mound where they buried the wire that was also supposed to be fixed and we are still waiting for that. I have called, emailed and texted with no follow up. As it has said in previous reviews they are very pleasant when you can actually speak with one of them and they will promise the works but once they are finished it seems they will no longer follow up. I truly hope we don’t have to utilize the warranty they have promised because they haven’t proven that they will honor what they said they would in a timely manner if at all.

Went with Sigora after a decent pricing. They took care of all the documentation including permits, HOA, inspections. Timely process and install completed within 35 days of the contract. They fixed any damage caused during install. Outside cleanliness post install can be improved. I still find broken pieces of pleas fix and zip ties in my yard. Still waiting for turning the system on. So far so good.

Great Energy Assessment!

I just wanted to thank Chris and Buck for doing a great job on my energy efficiency tests yesterday. They arrived right on time and did a very thorough job. Thanks guys!!

David | Mechanicsville, VA | 08/10/2022

Read the fine print

The system installation was fine and they are eager to please till they get your money. They are impossible to deal with for warranty work. They will not honor warranties on the equipment they install. If you equipment fails and the manufacturer doesn't give them parts, they will not fix your system. My batteries all failed in about a year and a half. Sigora blames LG and will do nothing about it. So now I have no battery backup that I paid for and Sigora will do nothing to fix it.

Ernie | Corning, NY | 07/14/2022

Bad company

They lie and tell you what you want to here . They told me I would NOT have an electric bill and it would cost this much a month. Well I still have an electric bill and the price per month was a lot higher than they said with a ballon payment too . I have talked to the ceo of the company and many other people in charge there and there answers were we will put that in our training. I have one email where I asked about the price and no electric bill and his reply was that’s correct. But all the other times he would call me on the telephone and lie about production and price .

Michelle | Richmond, VA | 06/17/2022

Don't trust sales promises

I have had my panels for 2.5 yrs. They have worked as promised for about 1/2 that time. It's up to the customer to check the system daily. Sigora does not monitor it. "Grid events" (power outages) are not covered by the warranty

Daniel | Fuquay Varina, NC | 03/16/2022

Fantastic company to work with. Very professional and I could tell they knew what they were doing. No complaints or issues whatsoever. Thanks Sigora!

David | Richmond, VA | 03/11/2022

Excellent work

Got my system installed back in September and looks great! Process was smooth and continued to be a resource beyond the install. The install was quick and easy and is performing great! They had to make a do some extra work around my breaker box and came back to repair and even paint it for me. Went above and beyond.

Rob B | Lynchburg, VA | 03/02/2022

I love sigora. They are kind and always ready to help. Over delivering on everything.

Barrett | Cary, NC | 02/24/2022

My consultant was very knowledgeable and helped separate fact from fiction vs what I saw on the internet from all the crazy solar ads. Between the information, fast install, and hands off approach for me, it was an easy process from start to finish

Ben B | Cary, NC | 02/21/2022

Great Customer Experice

After months of research I settled on going with Sigora Solar because of their Energy Efficient upgrades they provide. They are extremely competitive with their pricing, and I could not have asked for a better experience working with Richard who was much more educated on how Solar works going forward as pertains to my relationship with Duke energy then the other company I spoke with.

Disappointed Customer | Charlottesville, VA | 02/19/2022

Poor customer service

Panels are very noisy when its windy and don't seem to be secured well. Seems like a safety hazard. Asked them to come back and complete the installation and they demanded $350 in advance. Sounds like a shakedown scam. Sigora is totally unreliable.

X21ironsides | Greensboro, NC | 02/19/2022

Outdated equipment costs pushed to customer

Received communication from Sigora that the cellular modem they chose to install in my inverter will no longer be supported by the carrier three years into a five year service and as a result they want 730 to install a new one even though my contract states 5 years of monitoring. There are hardwire and gateway options for this inverter that easily could have been used but were not offered. The modem and gateway being offered are not being discounted and they are charging 250 for labor to install it. I have had the inverter replaced once already and they put an old modem back in that one as well knowing full well the service would only be good through this year. That install and the responses to get someone to even come out were problematic at best. I also have to say I have never seen my setup come close to the maximum production it was claimed to be installed at. I used to recommend this company quite often but only got one referral check even though several others purchased. I would not recommend for anyone considering a solar purchase in the future. Too many red flags at this point.

Ruth S | Hope Mills, NC | 01/28/2022

Avoid - They are extremely unprofessional

We met with the sales rep on August 19th, let me just say he was wonderful to work with. We were excited to start the journey to moving to solar. He was wonderful at the pitch, he really sold the company and everything they offer. We were told our project should have been completed by the beginning of December. That is when things go south, once it is out of the sales reps hands, it is far from what we were promised or made out to believe. We had our solar panels installed and then the Sigora team continued to demonstrate their lack of effort for resolving anything that they needed to resolve. Everything from ensuring the permits were taken care of to scheduling inspections. They stood up the county inspectors TWICE! I have video recordings of the county inspector and I have conversations waiting for Sigora to show, they never did. We then reached back out to Sigora because it had been over a week with hearing anything, they said the county inspector never showed. Why the negligence and lack of honesty? I literally talked to the gentleman myself, I have video proof he was at my house and Sigora never showed. They finally see it fits for them to ask out county inspector to return a 3RD TIME! We get that completed, next step waiting for South River EMC to switch what they needed. Almost a month passes, we have yet to hear anything yet we are being charged for something that is not active. We reach out to South River, at this point they had no clue that we were in the process of switching to Solar, because SIGORA made zero effort to contact them, after they said they had. South River EMC was amazed at the lack of communication Sigora had made, sharing they had made zero contact with them. We then reached back out to Sigora to see what we needed to do, find out they only needed to send a form. WHY AM I DOING YOUR JOB? The excuses have ranged from negligence, to they underwent a major database change, team constructing, and scheduling issues. How am I the customer responsible for the lack of communication, responsibility, ownership, and accountability this company has, I am not. There are so many things that should have been taken care such as the insurance company (as they said), "Free" Energy Efficiency Updates, etc. We are highly disappointed with this company. Please avoid if you want to save yourself a headache with trying to made the switch to solar. We will be moving forward with BBB and NC Attorney Generals complaints.

Great Company and Great Service

I got Sigora to put panels on my home in Feb 2020. They were very professional and very informative. Great quality service and equipment. Highly recommend.

Very Smooth Experience!

I am very happy with the solar and service I received from Sigora Solar. All of the process and incentives were explained in detail. They communicated very well about the entire process and handled all the heavy lifting with the utility company and county to get everything approved. I would highly recommend Sigora.
