Talked to three vendors including one I used previously. They gave me the best price very quickly with the best presentation for both solar panels and a TESLA Powerwall II. Installation went smoothly and they were very helpful in setting up the apps for monitoring.

Let there be light

I am in the middle of getting my installation completed. I initially called just to get some information on a system. I sort of had an idea from websites of what I was looking for but wasn't fully aware. I received a prompt call from their representative who came out to the house and reviewed a specific plan for my home. I was surprised that he recommended a system that wouldn't cover 100% of my bill but in the end it made sense cost effective wise. They could have tried to sell a more expensive system by they were more concerned about getting me the right return on the investment. I thought about it for a month or so after. I received a call from the rep out of the blue that Duke had started the rebate program back up which brought the number of years for payback down to a reasonable level. So I pulled the trigger. I was handed off the a scheduling rep who walked me through the process and told me they will handle everything with the energy company. So far it's been a turnkey experience. The installers were all very professional. We just had the electric wiring installed and are waiting for the next steps with Getting scheduled for a meter replacement from Duke. I have been called by other reps just to check on the process to ensure I was happy with everything. So far it's been a great experience.

Great price and service

I got quotes from four different solar companies, very similarly sized projects, and Renu was the clear winner. Good guarantees and fast turn around on the installation.

Great Choice!

I had been thinking about solar for a long time and vetted four other companies. I couldn't have made a better choosing Renu. My sales person was thorough, honest and not pushy. I felt like he was consulting me on the best possible option for my home. The install team was tremendous and really efficient. From contract to install they handled everything, I would recommend them to anyone!

DO NOT consider this company at all

I have a lot to say but want to keep this fairly short since its a lot. This is the main points of my dealings. Found a sales rep at BJs and decided to have someone come out and talk us through the process and options. The sales person came out, ran all of our numbers and told us that we would be able to get a system that would cover all of our electrical consumption needs for what our power bill averages out to. We actually decided to go slightly oversized than what we would exactly need since our panels aren't in the optimal location for the sun's path due to roof space. We were told that the size system we could would have us at net zero. There are a total of 15 panels. After signing up I told a bunch of people about our experience and wanted to start having other people I know start down the solar route. I tried to get ahold of the sales persons that came to the house to give them information for other people. I never could get ahold of them. A few days later someone else from the company came out to measure the roof to get the plans drawn up for the permitting and I asked him about the sales person. They told me that the sales person no longer worked at the company. I pried a bit to finally get an answer and I was informed that he was fired because he apparently had an issue of lying to people while giving them quotes. I should have taken this as a sign and tried to stop everything but I hoped we wouldn't have gotten lied to. That turns out to not be the case. After it was all installed and running for a several months, we never even came close to reaching net zero. I brought this up to multiple people at Renu several times, all of which told me they would look into it or run it up the chain. I finally talked to someone else at the office that reran the numbers and he told me that in order to get to net zero, we would need another 8 panels on the roof. (Also know that the panels we bought were the highest capacity and most efficient on the market at the time. So needing 8 more panels is insanity.) When I told him about how I heard that the sales guy that sold us the system was fired because he lied to a bunch of people, he proceeded to tell me that no, that sales guy just decided to move away to another state (just days after selling us our system) and the one guy that told me he was fired was fired himself because he liked to start trouble. So in short, the company is clearly full of liars that don't care about anything other than making money. The guy that told me all this said he would talk to whoever else at the company to try to get some sort of resolution. That was over 2 years ago and I've heard nothing. Renu did decide to call me up a couple times trying to sell me other things, like a battery back-up system. When I told the person on the phone about my current situation and still waiting for some answers, I was told that someone would give me a call the next day to update me. As you can probably guess, I never received any calls. The entire sales and management team are completely untrustworthy and do not care about customers in any way. I will give credit to the install guys. They were all very friendly and did a great job with the install. Its unfortunate that they have to work for such a terrible company overall. So overall, I am paying way more now for my own power with the loan and still paying toward power from Duke, than I ever had to pay when I was just getting power from the power company solely. The tax rebates also can't be used on your taxes the way they say they can be. That's another thing to keep in mind. Avoid this company at all costs.

LET THE SUN SHINE

I have an 18 panel install. that has been in service since early December. From design to installation to turn on and integration, Renu handled it and handled it well. Absolutely effortless with no problems or hitches. Office staff/back up is great for any questions or explanations you need. They are ahead of the game and keep you informed at every step right up to applying for the energy company rebate. They know what they are doing and when to do it. Only glitch, there is a discrepancy between the Kwh my app says I'm making and what the utility company is crediting me. I believe this is due to the util. estimating rather than actual reading the meter. Only had two billing periods so far so I'm waiting for the util. company to catch up. Renu uses the best panels and best inverters and still came up with a very competitive price. Many people out there, some better than others. I am completely satisfied with Renu.

Good salesperson, good ops team, poor management/coordination

I was very happy with Brandon from the sales team. I valued his knowledge of the design, operations, permitting and rebate process. I was very happy with the electrical team. We asked for their help blending the conduit into the design of our house and they did a terrific job doing so. The roof guys did a poor job on the original install but they did acquiesce when we asked them to correct it (i.e. straightening out the panels and installing them in the correct locations as noted in the design.) I would give Renu 4.5 stars if not for the project management/coordination. There were several days I sat home in the middle of a business day unnecessarily waiting for someone from Renu to arrive because their project/ops team had not properly communicated the schedule. It was generally incumbent on me to follow-up with Renu to push them along on next steps or ask where we were in the process. A coworker of mine had many of the same challenges with Renu and we both felt this team lacked process, oversight and accountability. If Renu made a few personnel and process tweaks they could quickly address these issues but it was my experience that they did not really welcome the feedback. I'd have a difficult time recommending them.

I feel good about the savings on electricity, the fact that I am doing something positive for the environment, and how nice the panels look on the roof. Very friendly and helpful staff. The purchase, installation, and help with both Federal and Duke Energy Rebates.

Home Solar Made Easy

We own an all electric house. The installed 8.8 kw system (27 roof panels) provides 66% of our annual power consumption. We chose Renu due to their reputation for professional, quality work. They did not disappoint. Up front, they provide detailed information to size the system for optimum financial return. Renu did all of the interface work with the utility and county building inspectors, including permits. They used top quality materials and their installation crew was first rate. We had some especially challenging electrical routing issues from the panels to the meter, but the crew expertly figured out internal building routing that maintained the aesthetics of the house. Installation was completed in one day and the crew left the property clean and without any damage. It was a great feeling to synchronize to the grid and produce clean energy for our home.

If you want the very best.....

If you really want a first class solar system and installation, Renu Energy Solutions of Charlotte, NC should be your choice. There are many contractors out there working in the home solar roof top field. I of course have not worked with other contractors. I have heard some sad stories and I did interview several contractors and as far as I am concerned I made the best selection, Renu. Why do I consider Renu to be one of the best? Here are a few important reasons: - They immediately get to work. Renu provides a schedule and delivers close to the promised dates. But be aware there are issues beyond Renu’s control like, obtaining permits, inspections, utility meter installation, HOA approvals, and of course weather. However what ever is under Renu’s control, they meet the schedule. - Renu has a knowledgeable field representative visit the site to make field measurements and make sure everything is covered in the proposal prior to starting design work. This avoids downstream issues for both parties. - The project management team is first class, up front and more than willing to support the home owner with all necessary documentation to meet an HOA’s documentation requirements and answer any question anytime. The PM’s are on the ball in obtaining permits and scheduling inspections. I could not have asked for better assistance. - When the field team arrives everyone just puts their heads down and does their assigned chore safely with little direction or delay. I really liked having a single point contact for all the work – design, permitting, installation, electrical, and even roofing work if necessary. There are no delays between classes of work. It flows seamlessly. For most installations I would judge everything, installation wise, is accomplished in one workday. In my case it took two days due to the project and an issue with the utility’s electrical power service. - From the day I signed the contract to the day the system was turned required 7 weeks. About half of this time was utilized in obtaining approvals and inspections. - There were two minor issues at start up but Neru quickly had a man on the scene and solved the issues – a minor wiring issue. The system still produced during this period, just not at 100%. - All Neru’s team members are very friendly, easy to work with, and ready to answer any reasonable question. They leave the site as neat as when they arrived. No trash is left behind for the owner to dispose of. My installed system has performed at or above the promised production level without any issues. My system has been on line for 8 months. In that time I have had ZERO electric utility bills for 4 months!! My electric consumption costs now average $0.0159 per kw hour. My total bills for 8 months are less than my pre solar average monthly bill. And the amazing part to me, there is nothing an owner need do – no maintenance, no fuel, no adjustments, no annual tune up’s – the system just provides power. Start it, forget it, and enjoy low electric power bills. No fuss it just works. Yes rooftop solar is a large investment. Even after federal and local tax breaks it has a high first cost. But when I calculate the rate return on my investment, based on the local utility rates and the actual power generated, this investment is generating a tax free 10% rate of return. The rate of return will only increase as electric power costs rise as they have historically risen at about 3% per year. I know of no other safe stable 25 year investment that can provide that rate of return. And of course, my house’s re sale value has increased too. I cannot say enough great things about solar power in general and Renu Energy Solutions in particular. Install Renu Solar Power and you will absolutely love it!!! Pretty good service from quote to install!

We had panels installed in January 2018. And for the majority of the experience, it was great! The quote experience was the best I've ever had because they took the time to really explain all the options and how each benefitted differently. And then the salesman, Cooper, let us make the decision without forcing us into anything. The install process was great and they completed it all in one day. And they kept on top of things in terms of getting thru all the Duke Energy red tape in order to turn them on. Now - I would give them 5 stars but there was a minor issue where a leak was caused by the panels. I was given the run around a few times before Renu finally admitted fault. But AFTER they determined that the issue was caused by them, they had it corrected in a very timely manner and were apologetic.

First Class Company

I had to cancel my contract just prior to installation, but I was happy with Renu's ownership of an honest mistake and their professionalism that followed. My initial contact at Renu believed that I was entitled to both a federal tax credit and an SC tax credit since I worked in SC and filed an SC income tax return. However, my home is in NC. The sales rep also presented proposals with the same tax credits in mind, and I signed a contract based on those assumptions. Unfortunately, on closer examination of the SC eligibility rules, we realized that the location of the installation must also be in SC. I was pleasantly relieved that Renu readily acknowledged their error and reimbursed the finance company completely. They were very professional throughout the process. My recommendation to anyone considering solar power would be to not rely entirely on the understanding of solar companies for tax credits and/or rebates. Although they have significant familiarity with the available credits/rebates, they are not always 100% accurate.

Great customer service and Install

Renu has installed a 5.89 kW solar system on our roof recently. Our sales associate cooper was really helpful and he didn't pressure us to sign the contract. We were going back and forth on installing the system as some of our friends who didn't knew about the net metering and incentives from federal/state government were dissuading us. We finally made a decision to go solar after educating ourselves online and getting to know experiences from our neighbors who have already installed the system through Renu.The install crew was very professional and completed the work in a day. Post install the county inspector found an issue and the crew came back and made corrections.If you are in Charlotte surroundings and are looking for solar install, I would strongly encourage you to go with Renu!

I'm very happy with my experience. ReNu managed the process throughout and made it very quick and easy to get my panels up and running. I also really enjoy checking my usage and solar production online. As football season comes, the windows come open, the sun keeps pouring down, and my meter runs backward! Really a great experience.
