Deceptive Sales Techniques and Unprofessional

We bought a solar system from PES solar 2 years ago and Don the Vice President and Salesman sold us on it, for our 20 year old roof, with the promise that PES solar would take off and put back on the solar panels within the first 5 years for free. The time has come to hold PES solar to their promise they sold us on, over that exact concern over the age of our roof, and now the story has changed that "its free if we use their roofer only". Lo and behold, their roofer doesn't cover our area nor are they willing to make an exception to have their PES owned roofing company cover our area. And Don, Vice President and Salesman, expert advice is to "go after the Insurance Company" or "Use the Government" to pay for the Panel removal and installation. Deceptive business practice all around and Don, probably the most unprofessional Vice President, singles out my wife that she "has no idea what she's talking about because she wasn't part of the conversations" and decides that rather than working with us, calls us liars and ignorant. I don't know if Don has a problem with women but it surely seems so as my wife has been handling this issue for us and rather than addressing our concerns, he keeps attacking her via text, as if she not capable of handling an issue with a company we paid $38k for solar panels. She works and makes money to Don. When Don wasn't trying to invalidate my wife, his only attempt at helping us was "I tried to reach out to the owner" and we had to keep reaching out for a week and a half to hear back. PES Solar's lack of professionalism through its Vice President Don and its deceptive advertising practices are something you should avoid at all costs. You want your panels taken on and off for a new roof to be put on? That'll be $10K. They don't tell you that before the panels, they just whisper "free" into your ear to get the signature on the contract even though our biggest concern with Don was the age of our roof and getting it replaced. I didn't expect this out of a company based in Florida but rather a fly by night solar panel company. But the post payment customer service will make it feel that way.

Good solar installation experience

I researched multiple solar companies and selected PES because they offered a good quality product (REC panels) and offered good service. The sales, permitting and installation process went smoothly.

Great people, great product

We chose PES Solar because we wanted a locally owned company to purchase our system from. They have kept us informed of every step in the process from beginning to end. The system was installed today. We met with the installed prior to installation, during the installation process, and wrap up after they completed the installation. They have very nice people on their crews. Can't say enough.

This is my second time getting solar panels and I am EXTREMELY HAPPY I decided on PES Solar this time around. They were so helpful and extremely professional. I received updates at every step of the project, they answered all my many questions and followed up various times after everything was completed. Mike M was very informative! He explained why my first solar panel project (with another company) was not built to my needs and why I still had such a high electric bill! All the technicians were really friendly and neat! They did not leave a mess, unlike the first company I used. Thank you PES for restoring my faith in solar panel companies!

Best in the League

PES Solar A few days after I contacted Chip Paul from PES he came out to my home to check the property out and answer any questions. I signed up right away because the deal was so good that I couldn’t believe it AND it got better. Chip told me to get a full home generator fueled by propane so that we will be covered for the duration of a bad storm. This company was the only company out of about ten that I interviewed and received quotes from that really came through. I have 19 solar panels, the generator and 500 gallon propane tank is financed as part of the entire package. The company has stayed in touch every step of the way. There has been no glitch whatsoever and the $20,000.00 check for the generator and tank installation arrived yesterday. In fact I just signed on with the generator company and paid the initial deposit a few minutes ago to get the permitting started. Tell me if you can beat this deal !! 25 year term, no electrical bills, total financing is just under $60,000.00 @ 1.49% interest with monthly payments between $167 - $192.00 per month. The 19 panels went on in one day, a correction the next and the inspection was passed in three days. Now I am waiting to get the meter switched out by the electric company. Just to obtain an entire home electric system including air-conditioning with a monitor notification to the propane company to refill automatically is a real achievement. Again, no other company could offer this package with total financing. When I learned that the generator package was almost twice what we had calculated, he applied for another $10,000.00 and that was also approved immediately with no financials requested. Chip has helped me all the way and even had his company come out to spray the inside of my duct system so that there is a minimum waste to the attic. I have nothing but the absolute best to say about this family run business of 25 years.

Very Happy Customer

I started my research into going solar in June of 2022. Sergio is the salesman that I met with to discuss the solar program and what PES had to offer. He was very knowledgeable about his product and very low pressure. There were several reasons I went with PES, the first being the length of time the company has been in business and the other reason is their installers are company employees. The importance of having the installers as company employees is all issues and service is handled by one company. My neighbor started his purchase in March of 2022 and it is now November and he is still not operational. The solar company he used subcontracted the panel installation to an outside source and now they are blaming each other for the delay. The day my panels were being installed two gentlemen from PES showed up at my house. I had no idea who they were. One of the fellows went up on the roof and had all of the installers gather for a short meeting. When he came down I began talking to both gentlemen. As it turned out they were the owners of PES and they had several new guys on the crew and they just wanted to make sure they were paying close attention to what they were being taught and the importance of doing things correctly. The crew finished the panel installation in one day and left everything just as they found it. There were a few minor issues along the way but Sergio was quick to respond and get the issues resolved. To me communication is very important and I was very pleased with how every issue was handled. I have read some reviews from other companies that were less than complimentary but many times so much of the unhappiness is generated by salesmen's promises and high pressure. In my experiences a salesman can make or break a company. Sergio is certainly an asset to PES.

Stellar

PES Solar came with all the right information to make an informed decision. I have had the system now since May, we went live in Jun and I have seen the monthly bill headed to Zero. The communication, installation, and follow-up were outstanding. I will recommend them to those that are looking for all the right stuff. They showed me the savings, The monitoring by them, the monthly reports, and the app to see for yourself make this a worry-free setup. Can they set an appointment just for a consultation, you will like the professional explanation given for any and all questions you need an answer to prior to deciding if this is right for you. The power companies will continue to increase your cost by maybe 5 to 7 % every year. Do yourself a favor and get it before any government programs or changed or removed.

I purchased solar from PES and had them installed in May 2022. My electric bill has been cut by 80%. They are a very professional company and kept me informed weekly after I signed the paperwork. I have absolutely no complaints . I researched solar for 3 years and had 11 different companies give me quotes. Several sales persons had less than a month in the field and I knew more than they did after 3 years of doing my own research. I got the panels and microcircuits I knew I wanted. Do your own studies. I’ll be very happy to answer questions. Go with PES

P.E.S. Solar the best

12.5 kw system install on 2 sides of roof and all panels produce evenly across the day. Install crew was here for 2 days and you would never know they where here . One of the most professional group of employees I’ve seen. Would highly recommend them to anyone.

The expert that came to the house was very knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. Communication could have been a bit better, but all in all I’m glad I went with this company!

Good customer service

I’ve used this company for both mine and my parents house. The customer service is efficient and professional. When the installers came for the solar panels they were done in a day. The biggest waiting game was waiting for the building departments to issue the permit and for FPL. Which were things that PES solar couldn’t control. I’m so grateful that I found them for my solar panels.

I have recommended this company to my family and friends. I had a great experience from start to finish. I was kept in the loop every step of the way and had a smooth installation. They are a friendly and informed company.

Exceptional

PES Solar has been excellent from beginning to end. We love our solar panels and it's definitely worth the investment.

Very Frustrated

It has been 10 weeks since installation of the solar panels and backup battery. I have had only three weeks of use during that time and the entire system has been down now for two weeks. The controller is bad and PES is dragging their feet instead of taking care of the problem in a timely manner. I paid cash for the installation and I should be getting the benefits from my investment, instead I am frustrated and regret having chosen this company. I am calling every day and getting the run around.

No communication

Joe the salesman was great, after that it’s been a horrible experience. The install was fairly quick, The techs. were great. Now comes the city inspections… failed 6 times! Part of this was an issue with the inspectors, I had to get involved with the city to figure out what the issue was, and I relayed all this to PES, and things started moving again. Now comes the paper work for the connection with the electrical company, they never received it, so once again I stepped in to get this to them. I was emailed the application to fill out and I sent it back to PES within an hour. Never heard back after several emails and calls. Contacted the utility company and was told PES did not send over the Rest of the required paperwork. Once again I called them and was told I would receive another call back after it was sent. Here I sit at home after hours and still no call back. I have taken time off from work and have made a lot of calls to get this project done and I am very frustrated at this point. The only god thing about all the failed inspections was the fact that the inspector found out that the entire system was wired backwards and would not have worked at all. Also the installers put an outside disconnect inside, they made a big mess of the wall which needed repairing, PES did pay for that but I still have this disconnect box in my hallway that has a big gap around it that I will need to doctor up to make it look better. My biggest complaint is the communication between myself and PES, I should not have to call them and beg for the progress notes, I’m the customer and I just shelled out a big chunk of change for this, who’s paying me for the work I did for them? If you are so good at what you do, then why don’t you know what the procedures are for the paperwork and processes for each town. I would think somebody would contact that town and utility and find out what is needed before hand. If I am not able to have this up and running in the next couple of weeks I am going to request they come and remove it all and I will have a company that wants my business for life come do it.

A Very Frustrating Experience

Contracted with PES Solar for a 5.5 kw system with battery on December 20, 2021. Installation took nearly 5 months and I am still waiting for interconnection to Duke Energy. PES has made numerous errors on the application. Customer service is about the worst I’ve ever dealt with. Promises of follow-up are never fulfilled. Very poor communicators. Lots of excuses. I’ve just filed a complaint with the BBB. Like Comment Share

PES top notch solor panel sales and instalation

I was referred to PES by a friend. Sergio and Chip were great at explaining everything. They did a great job with his house and just the same with mine. Process was smooth once everything was signed. I had 29 panels installed and it took about a half a day. Took FPL about 20 days after the permit was approved to approve the installation and put the new Net Metering meter on. They are maybe just a little bit more expensive the some others I had quoted but you absolutely get what you pay for. It is worth paying a little extra to get top quality products and service.

Highly recommend

After receiving multiple quotes and consultations for Solar. Pes was the only company that stood out and offered the best price, I knew nothing about Solar this is all new for me so I was completely nervous. With the economy going up and being a single mom Pes was so patient as well attentive to my concerns. They didn’t make me feel like I was just a $, they actually treated me like a human. I highly recommend if anyone is just thinking about going Solar please I’m begging you to at least let Pes take care of you like they took care of me. Don’t let other companies over charge you!

Service after install is horrible

I had my panels installed over a month ago and 2 panels have never worked as shown on the enphase app. I called and they promised to come out 4 separate times with no excuse for missed appointments. They’ve already been fully paid so they don’t care about providing customer service. Beware of all the good reviews. Even the salesman ignores my text after he said to call him anytime.

PES qouted a price then the price is 1.8x what they quoted me.

I was quoted 15.5k for a 6.6kw system without a battery backup. Sounds reasonable. In the end 26,600 for a system without a battery. Installation was good though. I don't think I'll have them do the battery install. Jan 5, 2022 — How much does a 6 kW solar system cost in your state? ; Arizona, $12,420 – $15,540 ; California, $14,400 – $17,880 ; Colorado, $16,920 – $20,640.

BEWARE

DON'T DO IT. They lie, and lie, and lie. We've had our system for a year now and this billing cycle is the first one where our system generated more kWH than we used. Over the past 11 months we have been paying $59.00 MORE per month than we were before PES installed the system. The numbers they gave us about our projected savings, based on past usage, are pure fiction. The sales rep also told us that we'd be receiving a check back from the Federal Government to offset the cost - but it was a lie. The terms of the note change in a few months, and then, under the best circumstances, we'll be paying $116 more a month than we did before PES got us. Don't believe a word they say. And when we contacted them to tell them that the system was under-performing, we received a snippy email reply saying "that's not something we can fix." We are seniors on a fixed income and thought, based on their lies, that this would save us money and help the environment, too. Instead, they told us what they thought we wanted to hear, and now we'll be paying on this loan until we die. Just DON'T DO IT and avoid this company. Documentation to support my claims is available upon request. UPDATE: After several days of dealing with the "new" head of customer service, and sending PES 19 Duke Energy bills to support our claims, Alex Kennard, who claims to be the General Manager, "generously" offered to give us two free additional panels if we would purchase a third at $2200.00. The initial installation was 37 panels. 37 times $2200 is $81,400, which is a lot more than we paid for the entire system, so Mr. Kennard's kind offer was nothing more than an attempt to con us out of more money, not to "give" us something free.

Excellent Quality & Affordable Service

PES Solar was not the cheapest but I could tell immediately that they were also at a different level of quality from the other companies. Their sales rep came in professionally dressed. I had 2 other companies come out with better pricing but their sales reps came out with shorts. PES felt more professional and they were very knowledgeable. They were the only company to talk about doing a presite prior to beginning my project. They are very professional and good at what they do. No, they were not the cheapest but they aren't the cheapest for a reason. Thanks PES!
