Switch to Solar Energy with Lumina Solar

From initial contact through permission to operate, Lumina Solar…and more specifically Gabriel Shabtai…stepped us through the whole process. We took about 4 months to decide to transition to solar energy, but never during that time was there any sales pressure. With his extensive experience with solar energy, Gabriel is truly an expert, and he used his expertise to patiently answer all our questions and help us learn about solar energy. Once we signed the contract, Lumina handled all the paperwork related to permits, interconnectivity with Delmarva, SRECs and rebates, which took a tremendous amount of pressure and responsibility off our shoulders. As a result, everything went smoothly, and 3 months later we’re generating electricity. We highly recommend going with Lumina, and Gabriel Shabtai is the absolute best.

Fast and Easy

Lumina Solar made everything easy. Ryan, my salesperson/project manager, was with me every step of the way and responded to all my questions quickly. The small bumps were taken care of quickly and without any work on my part. The project came in for the amount quoted and we were on-line several weeks ahead of projection. They even upgraded my panels at no extra charge. Installation was done quickly, and the team was neat and professional. I had a few small issues after commissioning and Ryan came out immediately and dealt with them. Lumina did all of the paperwork, from permitting through commissioning, and there were only a few easy forms to fill out for rebates, SREC's, and commissioning. Overall this was a very positive experience.

We are now up and running with solar energy courtesy of Gabriel Shabtai and the Lumina Solar team. It was so easy, no disruptions and everything happened on time. So, now our utility costs have plummeted to near zero and we didn't have to do anything, including getting all the incentives. Lumina looked after us perfectly.

We had a few challenges during the process and that is why I’m glad I went with Lumina. They are responsive and resolve issues quickly. They communicate during each phase of the process and have support teams for different areas. They also help getting set up with county tax credits, SRECs, and state rebate. In general they make the whole process easy. The sales guy was also the project manager so he knew what he was proposing as far as timelines and expectations. He (Andrew C) was available during the entire process and incredibly helpful whenever I had concerns or questions.

Great company, excellent results, happy customer

I recently had my solar system installed my Lumina Solar. I went with a 20kW system that consisted of 50 REC Alpha Pure 405W panels with Enphase iq8+ microinverters. Since I'm located in Maryland, I opted to forgo battery storage and may add it at some time in the future. My system was installed in December 2023 and I waited a full 6 months before posting my review of the company and the outcome of my installation. Cost - First and foremost on everyone's mind. Lumina did no disappoint. They were THE best priced local company out there with no haggling necessary. Only Tesla was cheaper, but they had issues with meeting my schedule and use string inverters. Customer Service - This should be next on anyone's list. I worked with Alison Sanders and would recommend anyone contacting her and having her work on with you through the process. She made this whole, very confusing, process so much easier. I did not have to do anything but agree to their design and sign. She made sure my HOA, utilities, county, etc were all out of the way for me. Her team did an excellent job with arranging site visits from all necessary entities. I just had to agree on a time. Whenever I had one of a million questions, she was quick to respond. While I am happy with my customer service experience from Alison, I am quite confident that the folks at Lumina ensures everyone gets this same level of service regardless of who is helping you. Installation - absolutely no complaints here. No leaks, contractors were prompt and on time. The work completed was extremely neat. I have white walls where they installed my disconnect inside, I did not even have to repaint. Additionally, they went the extra mile to ensure I had no exposed conduit on my roof by using a preinstalled flexible cable in my attic. Outcome - the final touch. I have been getting my bills and so far I have not had to pay anything except the minimum delivery charge of around 9 dollars. It's been 6 months and there have been no issues with leaks on my roof, which I did not expect anyway. If you are on the fence about installing solar and you can afford to do it without financing. GO FOR IT! If you are looking here for the best company to use, in my opinion that would be Lumina Solar.

Great Experience

Gabriel Shabtai was extremely professional and very dedicated to helping us through the process of getting our Solar Panels up and running. As a senior citizen and someone completely new to this program I would like to say that I could not have asked for someone better to walk me through the process. Gabriel was always available for my many questions and if he could not help me always directed me to some one who could. We love our new system and thank you very much Gabriel, it would have been much more difficult without you. I hope your company knows how valuable you are to them!

Very satisfied

Lumina installed my solar system about three weeks ago, and it is already up and running. The experience from day 1 -- sales representative, schedulers, installers, etc. -- was excellent on all counts. Installation went according to schedule with no hiccups. I chose Lumina as the first among three firms that I investigated, and received bids. In addition to be the best value for the money in terms of the quality of panels, microinverters, installation hardware, critter guards., I found them to be the most honest regarding estimating real production given shading cover on the south side of my house. Another firm suggested that their proposed system would deliver 100% of capacity, which was not the case. Still another firm wanted me to cut down some trees (a non starter). Lumina also used the Aurora solar modeling software in which the Lumina representative worked with me (interactively) to develop the best design given the tree cover, roof angle, etc. We were able to test different designs in which we varied the number of panels, their placement, etc. There was no hard sell pressure, and the sales rep. explained with detail and clarity all issues related to warranties, risks, solar bonds, Maryland grants, and federal tax credits. The price paid was the price quoted. I should state that my goal was never 100% coverage of my electricity consumption. I will be happy with 70%. Finally, as the case with all solar companies Lumina runs a financial model estimating the number of years until payback of the investment (due to savings in one's electricity bill). While Lumina's model is sound, it does not account for the cost of money (discount rate). However, this is not a criticism. I know of no other company that uses a discount rate in their modeling.

Outstanding at all levels. Do biz with them, you won't regret

I made a request for bids and Lumina did a really nice job of presenting and sharing my options and how to think about things. The representative was Courtney and I was super pleased with her. I never felt I was being pressured to make a decision. She took time to answer my 1seemingly 1000s of questions even the most probing ones. Just an awesome person to work with. Once I agreed, they had a representative come and thoroughly review my roof. It was at the time that I found out that I needed to replace my roof. While I was skeptical once the roofers started work it turns out Lumina was correct and I am grateful for their thoroughness, because I would have had big problems in the not too distant future had I not acted. Everything they promised, they have delivered. I cannot be happier and I would recommend them to anyone, especially my family and friends.

Great experience with Lumina

After about 6 months of research and about 8 quotes collected, I finally settled on Lumina solar for my home solar project. With so many door-to-door pushy salespeople coming by with bad info, it was great to chat with the reps at Lumina (Gabriel was awesome) who were super knowledgeable and provided me with honest information and a great quote. Once I signed the contract for my 33 panel installation, Lumina was right there every step of the way. They kept me in the loop on all details around permitting, and did a thorough roof/attic inspection before anything started. When install day arrived, the crew got right to work, and did an amazing job, finishing the work in one day. The master electrician was very accommodating, and was able to land the inside breaker near my panel and out of sight. The whole crew was very professional and did a full cleanup before they left. I received PTO about a month after install, and was able to energize the system myself using the clear instructions from Lumina. Its been operating perfectly since day 1, and could not be happier with the overall process and service from Lumina. Highly recommend Lumina, they exceeded my expectations and continue to be available for any questions I have.

GREAT COMPANY TO WORK WITH!!

WOW! Working with Lumina Solar has been a great experience. From the first moment I talked to Courtney during the orientation, I was convinced they had what I was looking for. I went through 5 different companies. Believe me, they were all good, but Lumina (Courtney) took the time to teach me about the system and how I could maximize the benefits of a solar system. There is a lot of information to digest when you switch to solar power, but Courtney took us by the hand throughout the whole process. We are just at the point of being activated and I can't wait. It's being a few months and we are just ready for the switch. We thank Courtney and Lumina for being there for us (even at 11:30 PM) and if anyone is looking for a solar company they can trust, I strongly recommend Lumina Solar. Even if I have any issue in the future with the system, I' know they'll be ther for me as they've been so far.

Custom Solar Installation

In 2023 I knew that I wanted to invest in solar. I also knew that the system was going to be pretty large and therefore a sizable investment. I wanted to fill the entire back of my roof with solar panels, and I contemplated doing the job myself, however before I made that decision, I wanted to get some quotes from various contractors in the area to see what they were gonna charge. After engaging with a few other contractors, I realized right away that it matters very much who I go with because they all did not appear to understand the intricacies and specificities of my property as relates to how to maximize my solar investment. Many of the quotes I got were automated or generic and on top of that, over priced. Some didn’t support microinverters and others didn’t try to maximize the number of panels on my roof. That’s when I met Gabriel at Lumina Solar. Gabriel is a former solar installer foreman and is now the sales rep for Lumina Solar. He came to my house and we talked in-person. Due to his expertise, I was able to ask him a number of different questions (of which I had many) and he answered all of them very thoroughly. He helped me design a system that met my specific needs for my specific house. I was very happy and comfortable with the interaction I had with Gabriel. So much so that I stopped looking for new contractors and decided not to install the system myself. I signed the contract with Lumina that week. The installation has gone through all of its paces, and he’s met all of the promises that he made from the very beginning. Everything from the installation taking one day to submitting all the paperwork for the various tax and other types of documentation that I have to do and getting the system inspected/interconnected. I’m now grid tied, generating power from my house and pushing it back to the grid successfully. Very happy with this investment. To a large extent, I thank Gabriel for making that possible. Exceptional buyer experience from start to finish

After making the decision to add solar to my home, I did tremendous research on various companies and held meetings with many. It’s a big decision with some heavy upfront cost, so carefully researching my options was a must. From the start, Lumina differentiated itself on several levels. First, my sales rep, Courtney, impressed me with both her knowledge of and enthusiasm for the product. Additionally, due to the technology Lumina employs, she was able to show me in real time during our call the sunlight levels on various parts of my roof, what impact various adjustments might have, etc. I should add that my meeting with Courtney was under an hour long and able to be held very effectively via video conference - something I value these days to minimize schedule/time impacts. This was something that not all solar companies I met with could provide. Courtney also had what I consider a great level of follow-up - she gently checked in from time to time and added some effective selling point reminders, but never took it to an annoying level. I can honestly say that while my decision to choose Lumina was based on several factors, Courtney was a major one. I was surprisingly impressed with the design and installation process's commitment to my stipulations for the project. I say surprisingly because all too often contracted jobs are not completed to expected standards or plans. In my case, I was adamant from the start that I wanted all connective wiring/conduit to be hidden internally in the house, something that several other companies told me upfront might not be possible due to the makeup of my house. But Courtney assured me from the start that Lumina would find a way - that Lumina is different from other companies by working with homeowners on aesthetic and other design requests. And that indeed proved to be true - after signing with Lumina, they repeatedly noted and reassured me that my conduit requests would be taken care of. On installation day, the builders were all extremely friendly and professional. The electricians talked through the plan for internal wiring with me at the start and then consulted with me throughout the process to confirm things were being done to my liking. Safety was a clear priority for Lumina, with a safety supervisor on hand to ensure all roof harness and other rules were being followed. The entire process was very smooth. Lumina took care of all permitting registrations both before and after installation and made it very easy for me as a buyer. I am extremely happy with my total buying experience and would absolutely recommend Lumina to others considering a solar installation. They use some of the best names in solar tech equipment yet came in lower in total price than many competitors. They clearly make customer ease, service, and confidence their priorities and know their business well. Lumina is FANTASTIC

Lumina installed our 37 panel system 7 months ago, and we are extremely pleased! Their sales staff is excellent, very knowledgeable and professional. Their installation was top notch as well. The entire system was installed in two days, and it is very, very well done. (I'm an engineer and a trained electrician, and everything I've seen in the installation meets my very critical standards.) They worked very well with our local government and power supplier to obtain all the permits we needed, and everything in that regard was completed very efficiently. After 7 months the system has worked flawlessly, and we have yet to purchase a KW from the grid. Several friends saw our installation and also chose Lumina for their systems. They had the same experience we have had. We are all very pleased with Lumina. They help to educate you, keep you informed, and deliver on what they promise. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Lumina if you are in the market for green power, reducing your electric bill, reducing your carbon footprint or just taking advantage of the Federal tax credit for residential solar installations!

Great Performance

Tim Cooke listened to my needs and came up with an excellent design, sized to meet growing future needs such as EV charging. I obtained estimates from numerous companies. Not only did Lumina come highly recommended by friends and neighbors, their unit price per kW was the best. Install went very smoothly and the system is doing very well.

Working with Courtney and the entire team was a great experience. Courtney was extremely informative. She never made me feel she pushing for a sale, which is important to me. The entire installation team was incredible. They were very efficient and just all around nice guys. I have and will continue to recommend them to everyone that I know.

It started with a phone call with Christopher Richardson who was the Project Manager/Sales Consultant. I asked a lot of questions but he guided me thru them all along with prep tasks I needed to do first. He was always responsive, patient and very knowledgeable as well as honest. Once my property was ready for installation, things went like a NASA space launch will perfect coordination of tasks with Lumina staff, third party inspectors, utilities and permitting. The finished product is world class in terms of workmanship, quality and sophistication. It is also visually very compatible and unobtrusive with the style of the house. You literally can’t tell it is there. I could not imagine any other firm having all of these attributes. We are making power and it is very exciting. Power to the People in 2023 is a reality thanks to Lumina.
