Lumina solar is an amazing company to deal with. There are very knowledgeable, and great communication through the entire process. My township had an old ordinance that prevented the size of system that I needed. Lumina worked and kept me informed as to what we needed to do to get the permits. Everyone from the start to the finish was nice and friendly. I would highly recommend this company.

Great partner helping us set up solar on our home

Another Solar company contacted us, which led us down the path of getting quotes for Solar installation had contacted us. After getting quotes from about 5 companies, Lumina really stood out. Most companies insisted on meeting in person for hours to go over the same information we hear many times, and others push batteries that really aren't ready. The other companies also ignored some of the recent county safety changes, especially around limits to how far panels needed to be from the side of the house to meet fire codes. So their generation was incredibly high, but wouldn't have met code. Kurt from Lumina was incredibly helpful. He understood what was possible for our house quickly, and recommended us away from batteries, and explained both why they weren't really, and that they would just be a backup if we lost grid power, which rarely happens. Our homeowners rules didn't allow solar, so after we signed with Lumina, they helped us with documentation and ideas to get the bylaws changed to support solar, which took about 3 - 4 months. Even without knowing for sure that we'd get the approval, Lumina still sent out a roofing company to repair some loose boards, nails, and shingles, at their expense. After we finally got the homeowners agreement, Lumina was great reaching out and installing the system over 2 days. They explained clearly what was being installed, including the outdoor shutoff and the additional grounding lines installed to meet code. Lumina checked in regularly, and after we got our power plan updated with Dominion and approved, they worked with the SREC company so that all I had to do was create an account, and they worked to get the tax credit approved while copying me on all the correspondence. They also explained why we should change our Dominion credit date to help make sure the payment we receive from them accurately reflects usage across summer and winter. We couldn't be happier with Lumina, and if we ever need more panels or a battery system, we'll be going with them. We've already recommended them to a couple of neighbors.

Great experience with Lumina and Charlie

I had an awesome experience with Lumina Solar. I am grateful I came across this company and I especially got lucky by working with Charlie who was extremely helpful with answering all my questions (and I had many as I did a very detailed analysis on whether to go solar or not)!!! Charlie was patient and walked me through everything and provided any help I needed (panel types, system size, down the road math/savings, srec credits etc etc). Lumina has a great process end-to-end. Choose your solar company wisely. My next door neighbor signed the contract before mine with Lumina and their system is still not operational (inspection issues, company not having all the permits to operate in MD). worse decision i ever made

paying two times as much for electric than before, called rep, took a bad review on here to get a return call, asked for different paperwork, had that over a month now with no call back, called today again with no answer, these people are bad to deal with in my opinion, they need to get this stuff off my roof and stuff it up you know where, not one bit of truth to what the rep told me, lumina is no good, seems all bad reveiws get lost, i,m thinking they write their own , i,v talked to other customers of theirs with the same experiance as i,m having

Highly recommend

I chose Lumina because of the non-pressurized and friendly interactions with my lead contact Andrew, as well as a referral from a neighbor. Andrew was honest with the expectations and timeline, and we didn't have to haggle about anything which was a nice bonus. There aren't a million different panels or options to choose from, it's kind of a streamlined offering with a few options to choose from, they truly stand by their products and services. I got 4 different solar quotes and Lumina offered the best price per watt. We have had professional interactions with everyone involved, even on installation day we had really positive interactions with all crew members. At this point i am just waiting on the last step before permission to operate, but thus far Lumina has really impressed me.

Very positive experience with Lumina for solar installation

I am perhaps the first Delaware customer of Lumina Solar. It took a long time from contract signing to electricity production, but it was mainly due to permitting by local/state governments and utility companies. Once all permits were in place, installation by Lumina took less than a day. All Lumina employees were very courteous and professional. Special shoutout to Courtney Sollenberger who guided me through the whole process. Her prompt responses to all my questions made the process a lot less stressful.

The best company with the best crew

Extremely professional! We worked with Christopher Richardson and he made the whole process so simple. The crew that showed up installed everything in only a few hours and then walked me through what they had completed and what the next steps were. If I would have known this was so easy, I would have done this a while ago!

Great company and couldn't be happier

As a note I'm in Delaware and their wasn't a tab to select for Delaware I just had my install done (7/31/2024). I couldn’t be more pleased with Lumina. From the very start Peter Hayes (salesman) came to my house. I already had other quotes and knew what to expect and what to ask. Peter answered all my questions and even let me in on information that I was forgetting to ask that I should know. He knew his solar information and equipment. Prior to the 5 quotes I received, I did countless hours of research on my own so I knew what kind of questions to ask. Having done a lot of research I already knew the answers to what I was asking to see how the salesman responded. (Reddit was great btw for that). I decided to sign with Lumina. Peter didn’t pressure me in anyway but I was ready to sign by end of the day after thinking my options through. (If you sign same day you get a discount, at least I did). I will say Lumina wasn’t the cheapest quote I received busy remember you get what you pay for. I did plenty of background research on each company as well to vet each one out. Lumina wasn’t the most expensive either. I know area plays a role in pricing as well. Now the process for solar is nothing like when I bought my Generac generator which again Peter advised me. There are multiple steps involved. I started this process mid May and he said expect to get my system up and running end of August to mid September. His estimate was very close. Here we are last day of July and the system was installed. It was fully functional when the installers left, unfortunately because I need the county to do the inspections and Delmarva to come out and put a new meter on my house that can run backwards, I have to keep the system off until then :( what a bummer. Peter’s quote on timing was spot on. (In the back of my head I was really hoping it happened quicker. Peter was realistic and mine was just hopes and dreams. If I was asked to do it again would I change anything and I would say no. Peter, the installers and the process has been great. Lumina got things done in a timely manner, stayed in contact with me quite a bit and I knew as each phase of the project was being processed / completed and onto to the next step. The state and process outside of Lumina’s control was slow but Lumina couldn’t help that. Looking forward to the end of August so I can flip that switch and making my system fully operational. l look forward to not having to pay for electricity anymore (except for my Delmarva connection fee). Thank you Lumina.

Superb service, reliable, local presence, competitive prices

We selected Lumina Solar following an extensive comparison of other vendors. Our representative, Charlie Keyser, was knowledgeable and used sophisticated software to design our system. Lumina has a local presence (unlike firms whose "offices" were mailboxes at Staples) and used company staff to install our system, rather than subcontractors. Their SolarInsure warranty is the industry best, covering labor and parts on any repairs, backed by Zurich, which covers us even if Lumina and the manufacturers go out of business. The installation team was super efficient and the foreman was highly professional and knowledgeable. The interconnection and local permitting process were done efficiently and on time. In sum, we don't think you could go wrong with Lumina.

System and Consultant - Perfect Fit

Our sales and design consultant, Courtney S. was a pleasure to work with. She guided us through several approaches and options for the system. We ultimately went with a roof mounted system carefully laid out on the front facing roof of our home. We were concerned with the aesthetics of the lay out but she created a balanced and symmetrical layout. Lumina offered a competitive price (we did compare providers) for what I feel is a better system, without any high pressure sales. Courtney followed through on all system aspects including financing, installation and activation. The installation crew was fantastic, finishing the installation in one day without any issues, leaving the system ready for activation. Final inspection and formal activation went smoothly. We are very happy to have gone Solar with Lumina. Let the sun shine!!

Customer service

I had my solace for less then a year and this summer an array has gone down. The fact that during peak months that my system must sit broken for over a month is not acceptable when I paid in full up front. It also has me questioning how reliable the system is that they have so many people needing repairs that there are not able to address problem In a timely manner.

Lumina arranged and completed all of the work, including paperwork, coordination with local agencies, and turn-key installation with extraordinary skill.

It could not have been easier

After talking with several solar companies in the area, we decided to have Lumina Solar install our panels. Their original presentation was straightforward, comprehensible, and all questions were answered when they arose. The process was very easy as the company took care of everything. There are so many permits, rebate forms, rules and regulations but at no time did I feel uninformed. I truly felt the company had our best interest in mind. I would highly recommend them for anyone considering going solar.

Great service and a great system

When I decided to go solar, I had done a lot of research. I got quotes from about 8 different providers, I spoke with lots of sales reps, and I compared specs of lots of different systems. I went with Lumina partly because their system promised to perform better at similar cost to other systems, and because their sales rep Andrew Cimino was very helpful and responsive. During the bid process, he was on vacation for a week, out of the country, but he still responded to my questions and requests promptly and with attention to detail. The installation went very smoothly and their team led me through every step of the process with the same attentiveness. My system has been operating for a few days now and everything has been functioning as described in their literature, no surprises. For a large investment like this one (I had an 11kW system installed), I would highly recommend Lumina as an installer.

Great experience working with Lumina Solar

I had a very positive experience with Lumina Solar, and in particular with Charlie Keyser, the sales rep that I worked with. Lumina installed a 19-panel solar system on my roof in March 2024. The process was smooth, with every step of the paperwork and the actual installation explained in detail by Lumina. But there are further reasons that I'm happy with this company and with Charlie. I originally talked to Charlie about solar installation in October 2023. But I did not proceed because I would need to replace part of my roof (3-tab shingles) with architectural shingles, which adds extra expense. But Lumina offered an incentive in December 2023, upon which I re-contacted Charlie. We went over a number of roof replacement, solar panel config and pricing scenarios. During this phase Charlie showed prompt communication, detail orientation and a willingness to partner with me to find an optimal solution, as opposed to just maximizing revenue for his company. I eventually decided to do both a partial roof replacement and solar installation with Lumina. I evaluated a few other solar companies. One aspect in which Lumina and Charlie stood out is that he was never pushy. This was the big differentiator between Lumina and the other major solar installer I had shortlisted. I don't like aggressive sales tactics, irrespective of the price point and other factors. What I like is someone partnering with me to arrive at a solution. This is what I got with Lumina and Charlie. Following the installation, Charlie has been continuously responsive to answer my questions on SRECs etc. The panels are working well and meeting most of my energy needs now.

Lumina Solar Did a Great Job

Lumina Review We had a great experience buying a multi-home solar system with Lumina Solar. Our consultant, Christopher Richardson did a great job. I’m a retired Nuclear Engineer and I figured that I could design the system we wanted and get multiple Solar companies to bid against each other, so we could get the best price. Boy was I wrong! When I told Christopher what we wanted, he looked at all our buildings. He found that by using our Barn and Hayloft roofs, we could improve our Solar Energy capture efficiency from 72% to 98%. The savings over the 25-year lifespan of the system will be tremendous. Christopher explained that this was possible because we could use the Electricity generated at our barns for all our properties. This was because we qualified for “Virtual Aggregate Net Metering”. This means that we could put the panels on the best South facing roofs and use the electricity for all the other buildings. None of the other eight Solar Companies that gave us quotes, picked up on Christopher’s approach. To make it even better, before we started, he reviewed our Monthly Electric Bills and noticed that we were paying our current Electric Company twice what we could pay with a different supplier. We changed suppliers that day and cut our bills in half. Even after the installation, Christopher Richardson has been very responsive to my detailed technical questions. Ninety 405 Watt DC REC panels with Enphase 8+ microinverters 290 Watt AC produces 26,100 Watts AC. Guaranteed Annual production of 44,735 kWatt-Hours.

Seamless and easy installation

I installed solar with Lumina as a reference from my neighbor who also used them. The sales process was very detailed and thorough. Gabriel came to my house and gave a very detailed presentation explaining every part of the process and the technology. I was interested in the technology side and Gabriel, being someone who used to do installs, was able to answer all my techy questions. The permitting process was the most annoying, but Lumina took care of all the paperwork for me with the county, my HOA, and Dominion. All I had to do was review documents and sign off. The process took a few months, but the holdup was not on Lumina's end. Once we got the final approval for the install, they scheduled it within a week. The inspection failed the first time, but for very minor, picky items which were quickly remedied. Once the inspection passed, turning the system on happening quite fast as well. Overall very happy with the installation and would recommend Lumina to anyone looking to install solar. They are local, very knowledgeable and thorough, and they take care of all the steps for you. The only minor feedback I had for them was to better set expectations of the process and timelines, but Gabriel took down that feedback and said he was going to bring that back to his management team so that they can implement changes in the future.

Great experience start to finish

I just had Lumina install a 47 panel system on my home in Bethlehem PA. Courtney was my person of contact throughout the design and installation process. She has been head and shoulders above every other design consultant I spoke to. I had four different solar companies quote a price and design. Lumina WAS THE BEST! Not the cheapest or the most expensive of the group but by far the most personable, helpful, and comfortable to deal with. The quality of the workmanship and cleanup by the installation crew and electricians was fantastic everyone will take the time to talk with you and insure your comfort and understanding of the system and involved processes. I highly highly recommend Lumina solar if you are thinking of making the switch. As a bonus they are also there to help with SREC and tax credits which can be a little confusing. Great company. Great product. Great experience.
