Bottom line up front! Lumina Solar is the BEST Solar company you could work with to fulfill your home solar installation! The Lumina Solar company from, the President, Mike Kirby, to my sales representative, Zach Hare, to my technical advisor Erika; are bar none the best group of people you could ask to work with in a project like this! Not to get too flowery but they earn your business and are willing to help answer or solve any of your solar questions/concerns, needs and they CARE about your overall satisfaction! Caring is a hard thing to find in customer service these days. Lumina Solar files all the forms or they will help you fill out what you need to complete as the home owner. They will run down any issues in getting the project off the ground to include dealing with the county and PEPCO to get everything set up. Lumina for my experience had the best installation team for the system I had installed on my roofs. They provided top of the line products at a fair market value. Mike, Zach and Erika at various times during the install were instrumental in calming any concerns or issues I had with this process. They provided me as much information as I could handle and asked for. They could and did explain it in way that I could understand. I have some knowledge on electricity so they were able to get super detailed in areas where I was comfortable but in the areas I knew nothing they were able to explain or help me understand those things in the simplest of terms. The quote process: I looked at five State of Maryland solar panel installer companies. One would only work with me over the phone. The other four came to my house and they were very friendly. Of those four the one I was disappointed the most with was Tesla. Fast forward and history has shown that Tesla was going through a rough patch with layoffs and going back to primarily to focusing on their cars. Of the remaining top two Solar providers I had to choose between, Lumina and MD State Solar. Both agents were great and friendly and they were both named Zach >: ) Lumina however beat out MD State Solar because they provided a much better panel and overall product (value to the dollar) and listened better to what I wanted. Whereas MD State Solar heard me but did not listen. If I had to do it all over again I would still use and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Lumina Solar company team they are good people and true professionals!

Amazing customer service, thorough, detail oriented

I had reached out to other solar companies who would only install large systems (which would not work on my roof due to it's small size and permitting requirements) and was turned away. Catie and the Lumina team helped designed a custom system which was installed in less than a day. From the initial consultation to recently helping me dealing with my tax professional, Lumina has been with me every step of the way. The process is straightforward and stress-free and I highly recommend them.

All Around Excellence

I got in contact with Colin, who was able to meet and send over a proposal the same day! He answered all my many questions and respected my time. I considered many companies and reviewed different proposals, but picked Lumina because they felt the most genuine and gave me the time I needed to make the best decision for my house without being pushy. Once we signed a contract, the communication continued smoothly. Colin still addressed my questions in such a timely manner! On the day of install, the team was very professional, did amazing, left no mess, cleaned up after themselves, and were in and out in under 5 hours! I was hesitant to do solar, but I don't regret it. Not only is it good for the Earth, but Lumina makes it so clear, straightforward, and they are so respectable. HIGHLY recommend.

Great people to work with. Proactive from start to finish. They keep you in the loop and quickly answer your questions no matter how simple they might be. They took care of all of the details and were polite and organized. Sent over all of the paperwork to promptly receive local and state credits along with the SRECs. I wish that every other contractor I worked with had the same level of professionalism as Lumina. Would highly recommend if you are looking to put solar on your house.

Lumina Solar is a great company with wonderful people!

In my quest to reduce my energy bills, I did lots of research on various methods and options that were available and I decided to investigate residential solar energy. As part of this research, I obtained quotes from nine different installation and service companies and investigated the various products and technologies available. With so much to learn and so many companies to work with, it took me about a month to make my decision. I selected Lumina Solar to work with for my solar project mainly because I felt most comfortable with their representative, Zac Hare, and it was clear that he had my best interest in mind. This was evident based on his quick and through responses to my many questions in areas like the company itself, panels, inverters, install, attachments/racking, system monitoring, warranties/service, cost, and install schedule. Also, even before selecting them as my contractor, Zac worked with me more than any other company on the design of my system such as planned panel placement on my roof to achieve my objectives of energy production and aesthetics, and to make sure we were selecting the best equipment and quantities for this purpose. Lumina Solar was also reasonable went it came to negotiating the contract. The total time from signing the contract to being fully operational with a 15.12 kW system exceeded my expectations at about 2 months. Lumina Solar took care of just about everything, including working with my HOA, all the permits and inspections, applications for use, and getting me setup for SREC credits. Everyone from Lumina Solar that came to my house for measurements, installation, and pictures was respectful, considerate, and great to work with even during this pandemic. My solar system has been operating for 5 months now and it is working great. During this time, I was fortunate enough to have a small glitch in the status monitoring of a few of the panels, so I had the opportunity to test Lumina Solar’s responsiveness to a potential service call. I am happy to report Lumina Solar passed with excellence as they responded to my concern immediately and the problem was resolved shortly thereafter without anyone even needing to come to my house. Overall, I am very happy with Lumina Solar and I highly recommend this company.

Couldn't ask for a better experience

I had a virtually flawless contractor experience with Lumina, from initial consultation to turning the panels on, and am happy to recommend them wherever possible. Tim Cooke's initial consultation/pitch, all over Zoom, was by far the best of the four competitive quotes I received. They obtained the LIDAR data of my roof and used software to show not only their proposal of roof positioning, but also how the sun would impact the panels throughout the day and throughout the year, simulating how shadows from our neighbor's roof would come into play in the late afternoon. This was part of the initial pitch, rather than just having printouts or promising that such information regarding panel placement would be part of a separate design stage. Tim was also very receptive to my concerns about aesthetics, and presented several options from the design team that I was able to consider and choose from, rerunning the simulations on the fly to show how different tweaks of panel placement would likely impact production. He was part of the process throughout. Beyond all this, the products that Lumina utilize (Rec Alpha panels, Enphase inverters/control system, and Unirac Flashloc panel mounts) were superior to those pitched by their competition, and I appreciated that Tim had all the sales sheets and technical information at the ready as part of the proposal, rather than my having to ask for them. In comparing the technical details, the panels warranted performance were markedly better even at a similar price point. The build itself was very smooth, and both the electricians and the panel installers were professional and knowledgeable with regard to any questions I had during the process. Furthermore, Erika Murray and Brooke Adolfo also stood out as being particularly helpful and communicative, coordinating the various county permits, BGE permission to operate, applying for state and county grants/incentives, and interfacing with a SREC broker. I honestly don't have a negative thing I can say. I see no reason why future interactions, if any, would be any different from the exemplary experience thus far. 

Fantastic, Flexible, Friendly Installers

The Lumina team was great from beginning to end. Everyone was very knowledgable and was helpful and communicative throughout the process. We chose them because they provided the clearest explanation of how everything would work and we were not disappointed. All of our questions were answered when they arose and the team of installers that came to the house were extremely helpful, friendly, and flexible.

Easy, Easy, Easy

I didn't do a ton of shopping around but everything presented to me fell right in line with the research I did. The entire experience was very easy. The only slow downs were all government related (no surprise there) and the best part was that they handled all of that. I literally had to e-sign some documents after the initial zoom call where we discussed and designed the system based off my current usage and projected future usage (I am adding an addition and having my parents move in). The entire process was easy and everyone I dealt with or talked to was pleasant and accommodating.

Best Solar Company I Dealt With!!!

Lumina was by far the best Solar company I dealt with when choosing to switch to Solar!! I talked to several different companies when I was shopping around and Lumina was the most knowledgeable, the best customer service AND the best price. I asked a million questions and my rep, Phil Jordan, would always get me an answer. And not a ridiculous car salesman type answer, a REAL useful answer. We are very happy with the entire process including installation. If there were any issues or questions along they way they were very quickly addressed. Even after install they are still there to answer my questions. I couldn’t be happier! I highly recommend Lumina!!!

Not enough stars to rate this service!

I couldn't be happier with the service I received from Lumina Solar. If I could give them 10 stars, I would! From the initial meeting to discuss the solar process, to throwing the switch on at the end, everyone that I dealt with was professional, pleasant, and informative. There were no surprises as Zach kept me update on the process throughout. They did all the work in deciding if solar panels would benefit me, or if they just did not make sense. They did a LIDAR (i think that is what it is called) drawing showing shading of the house, averaged out weather patterns over decades, and conservatively estimated what I would produce versus what I use to "underpromise, and hopefully over perform." The site survey took a bit of work, as access had to be gained to the attic, but they did it without hesitation. The installation took less than one day, and everyone was great! And, behind the scenes their staff coordinated all the various moving pieces, and submitted all the necessary paperwork on time to ensure everything moved smoothly through the process. Watching the energy production over the last six months has been fun! I highly recommend Lumina Solar. If you are considering solar at all, give them a call. They will tell you if it makes sense or not!

Solar System Home Project

Lumina Solar was extremely professional and flexible from first contact. No pressures to buy from the Lumina team. Entire process went extremely smooth from system design, inspections, and installation. I am very happy with the services and solar system received and I highly recommend Lumia Solar!

Nothing short of awesome - at least get a consult from them

Out of the 3/4 companies that responded to me in regards to my solar inquiry, Lumina Solar has been the ONLY company to actually come to my property and physically determine if solar would be beneficial. Other companies looked up my address using Google (which DOES NOT do my property justice at all) and determined that solar "wouldn't work" for me based off of pictures that Google/Google Earth provided. Even with me telling them that the pics were outdated and I insisted that a rep come out to actually look. They all turned me down. When I gave up on solar at the time, Lumina contacted me and I told them the whole ordeal and how I really didnt care at that point if I could get them or not, BUT they have a particular system that allows them to really get a in-depth analysis of my property and determined that solar would, in fact, be beneficial. From there, SHANE WILLIAMS, Lumina rep, shows up for our appointment and the level of customer service was very refreshing. He was awesome to say the least from beginning to end. Knowledgeable, answered any every question I had etc etc...HE has all the qualities of customer service. I'd call him a friend at this point. Within 3 weeks or so, I had solar panels on my roof even faster than he predicted. So far so good! In my opinion, anyone interested in solar, I'd insist you at least contact them for a consultation and see for yourself!

Honest, helpful and professional

I spent months researching Solar companies before deciding on Lumina and I couldn't be more pleased. They were honest, efficient and the installation is excellent, both in how it works and the aesthetics. I own a historic home and Lumina took great care to hide every conduit and wire from sight. They have been equally helpful with the process to file for all the grants and tax incentives coming my way. Everyone was friendly, respectful and eager to answer my many questions. Shane was our sales and point person, and is more responsive over text and email than many of my colleagues at work. Everyone else from the engineers to the installers and the electricians were top notch. I am happy to recommend Lumina for anyone starting their solar journey.

Easy peezy, Lemon squeezy

I trust this review isn't posted prematurely but, up to this point, I have had an incredible experience with Lumina. I worked with Catie Meck during project initiation; wonderful personality, incredibly informed, an all-around joy. She was very responsive, answered all of my questions, and addressed all of my concerns. Installation and inspection was a smooth process and went off without a hitch. I was admittedly scared to turn on the system (mostly because the switch looked like one of those crazy detonators for exploding large buildings) but, it was as easy as each representative assured me it would be.

Strong Recommendation for Lumina Solar

I've been in the renewable energy industry for 15 years, and asked for recommendations from my professional network. I ended up evaluating 5 offers and found Colin the easiest to work with, including discussion some options on panel options (we ended up with premium panels,) configurations, and supporting various ways to monetize our RECs. The installation crew was quick and professional, and were flexible and understanding when some city road work delays forces us to reschedule I'm excited about the daily solar production!
