Lumina

We had our solar panels installed by Lumina Solar in November 2025, and after experiencing our first summer with the system, we have been disappointed with the overall experience and the performance of our system. Our experience with our sales advisor was very disappointing. Communication was consistently poor, with slow responses to emails and multiple occasions where we had to contact other employees to find out why our sales advisor was not responding. Looking back, this should have been a clear warning sign of the issues we would encounter throughout the project. On a positive note, I would like to acknowledge that the installation team was professional and did an excellent job! However, on the day of installation, we were informed that the original panel measurements were inaccurate and that three panels would need to be removed from the planned system design. This was very frustrating because a representative from Lumina had previously visited our home, climbed onto the roof, and took precise measurements before the installation date! We were unable to reach our sales advisor that morning due to the early hour, so we had little choice but to proceed with the revised layout that the installation team created. Now that we are experiencing our first full summer with the system, we have found that our panels are not generating the amount of energy we had anticipated. We contacted Lumina to inquire about adding back the three panels that were removed from the original design, only to learn that the company does not perform installations of fewer than 6 panels. While we understand the business reasons behind this policy, it is still very disappointing to think about the additional energy we could have been generating had those original three panels been included in the initial installation. While we appreciate the professionalism of the installation crew, we are ultimately not satisfied with the planning and overall outcome of our solar installation experience. Better communication, more accurate planning, and greater attention to customer expectations would have made a significant difference in the overall experience.

I had a fabulous experience working with Lumina. I worked with Gabriel Shabtai who was supremely patient with me and incredibly helpful as I was ironing out the system I wanted to build. Furthermore, Lumina stood by their customers in the face of the expiration of the Federal tax credits related to solar installations. And when it came time to install the system, a friendly and courteous installation team worked efficiently and effectively to get my system installed and up and running. Representatives from Lumina also jumped in quickly post-installation to help with closing the permitting process, etc. so I could turn on my system. It is now on and performing even better than expected. A++++ for Lumina for sure!

We ended going with Lumina for our solar panels after researching 10+ companies and having calls/quotes from 6 of them. When I was first researching they had a good reputation in online forums and reviews. Funny enough, during a call with another competing solar company, after I showed him Lumina's cheaper quote, the sales rep praised Lumina's quality workmanship and recommended that I just go with Lumina (sounds absurd but I swear it's true). My Lumina meeting was with Kurt Bradshaw. His presentation felt professional with excellent graphics and explanations, and they also used top tier REC panels and inverters. Everything seemed to check out fine, but the icing on the cake was that Kurt seemed to genuinely believe in his company. Kurt told me he didn't like being called a 'salesman' as it lumped him in with door-to-door solar salesmen who have a poor reputation. Somehow I had a good gut feeling so I took him at his word. I find it a huge tell when when a company's employees take pride in their work. Kurt is rather committed to his job: he responds to texts within half an hour, including weekends, and he even took a call with me while he was at the airport. As for permits and installation, Lumina's team was timely and handled everything smoothly. The installation was a great 1 day install, with no roof issues. During our county inspection (passed with no issues), the inspector commented that in his experience Lumina consistently had good installations, whereas he'd often have to flag issues for other solar installers that ended up causing delays. Our panels have been up and running for months and everything checks out. Lumina seems like a company with a business model that focuses on quality at every turn. They treat their customers right.

Solar installation and power outage

Installation teams were great. First comes a manual inspection of the home to include electrical panel. This inspection takes one day, even uses a drone to inspect roof. Next is the utility marker to mark all the utilities leading to house. Next comes the battery(s) team, takes them two days to install them and the connections. The solar panels follow on about a week or two later and it takes them two days. Now the system is completely installed annd ready to be turned on. With a week or two the utility company anuthorizes activation of the system. All the teams are great and did a fantastic job. Once the the go ahead was given you turn all the switches on and the system is up and running. Sit back and enjoy looking at the app and seeing it do its thing. Our system has been in for a month and we had our first power outage the other night. The power outage only lasted for 13mins. Had no idea the power from utility had gone down. Messages from enphase came in along with a message from MetEd. System worked like a champ. I even contacted neighbors to see if there really was a power outage. Our electric was uninterrupted, thank you Lumina an Enphase.

Solar Installation and power outage

Lumina install team was great. They come in waves, first one to inspect your house and electric panel to insure there’s no issues. Next up, the battery team comes out and installs the battery(s) and finally the solar panel and switches team. Battery and panels each take two days. Teams are fantastic, great team. Systems been in for a month and we had our first power outage at night. Only lasted 13 mins but had no idea until messages started coming in from Enphase and MetEd. I even checked with neighbors to see if there really was an outage. Pretty cool, our electric was unaffected by the outage. System worked like a champ.

Lumina is top-notch as a full-service solar installer. We selected the company because of its reputation for customer service and detail and the fact it's actually a Maryland company (based in Baltimore) and not just contractors for a firm from across the country. Gabriel was very helpful with designing a system that met our needs and he was responsive to my concerns about different designs. Despite some initial hiccups in approving the final design, Lumina's team did a great job resolving issues and making the process from that point seamless from our end. The day of install crew, including the team leader Brandon, was especially excellent and a great experience. Panels have been working great since day one and we're very, very happy to have them on the house. We highly recommend Lumina and its great, full service team!

Great job and very pleased with Lumina

Lumina Solar installed a 5.98kW 13-panel solar system the second week of January, luckily before the major snow and ice storm hit this region of Virginia. I did a lot of research both on the equipment and the company. Our panels are REC460AA Pure-RX using 13 Enphase IQ8X Inverters. My wife and I are very pleased with our system for a number of reasons, including: 1) if you do any type of research, the REC solar panels and the Enphase inverters are highly rated in the industry, which meant a lot to us. 2) the installation was extremely professional and was very top-notch. One of the reasons we chose Lumina was they only use their employees for the installation, and it was fantastic. Even the inspector made a comment how clean, neat and orderly the install was. All of the other companies we received bids from contracted out the install to other companies. 3) In my job before I retired I often reviewed and approved contracts. Lumina’s contract was very well done and very comprehensive, and I was impressed as I wanted to be sure everything needed for both parties was covered. 4) An additional reason we selected Lumina was the extended warranty offered from 25 to 30 years for a very reasonable sum. As I am 70 plus years old I am not concerned about the additional length of time, but the warranty will pay at no cost to us to remove and re-install the solar panels if we ever need to replace the roof due to hail, wind, etc., using Lumina Roofing. Gabriel Shabtai was our Solar Consultant and did a good job of explaining solar and the company and was great getting us through signing the contract. However, we were concerned that we didn’t hear much from him once we signed our contract, and we wished that he would have informed us of the backlog of installations Lumina had to complete as it took from July when we signed the contract to early January for the installation. Much of that was likely due to the rush Lumina was experiencing to meet the IRS tax rate expiration date.

Can't say enough good things about Lumina

I chose Lumina after years of trying to find a reliable solar installer that could really educate me on the county/state/federal taxes, grants, solar credits sales, loans, energy company coordination/inspection, etc. Their representative walked me thru it all and continues to this day to support any questions I have after a year of having my panels in. I would have done it years ago if I had been able to find a solar company that was down to earth and supportive enough to trust with this large purchase. Can't say enough good things about Lumina.

I recently had a 10 kW residential rooftop solar system installed and the experience with the team was excellent. They explained the whole process clearly, handled permits, and completed the installation smoothly. The crew was professional and kept everything clean. The system has been running great and I’m already seeing a noticeable reduction in my electricity bills. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone considering switching to solar.

Very satisfied with Lumina

We had an exceptional experience with Lumina. Our representative was Courtney. She was very professional and responsive throughout our entire process. Our system took two days to install, and within two weeks it was inspected and we received permission to operate. Over the course of our project we had contact with at least 13 individuals from the Lumina team. When we had questions everyone was very responsive getting back to us. Their entire install team was very respectful, professional and had pride in the work they did for us. It was a pleasure to work with the entire Lumina team throughout our project.

Lumina is a seasoned company

We had an exceptional experience with Lumina. Our initial conversation started with Courtney, and she was our representative. Courtney was very professional and responsive throughout our entire process. They handled the entire process from doing the survey, design, permitting, and installation. Our system took two days to install. Two weeks after the installation we received permission to operate, and our system started producing power that day. Over the course of our project we interacted with at least 13 individuals with the Lumina team. Their entire team that did our installation was very respectful, professional and showed pride in the work they at our property. Every individual we had contact with was responsive when we had questions. It was a pleasure to work with the entire Lumina team. We highly recommend this company if you’re considering a solar installation.

Solar System Installed!

First, I am a very detailed minded and technical person. I did a lot of research on solar systems before even getting to the quote process. Once I was ready I started getting quotes on solar systems for my house. The prices ranged by quite a large amount, the technology used also varied a good bit, a lot were focused on Tesla systems which I personally did not want as I think the tech is older and not as good as some of the newer technology being offered. So what made me go with Lumina... I would say first and foremost, the initial experience, their willingness to work "with" me and not against me, they listened to what I was looking for and accommodated my requests for newer or different components. A lot of places were locked into selling you on one system, wouldn't allow changes etc. Second, I worked with Gabriel and he was amazing in helping to get all my "tech" questions answered. If there is one thing I appreciate, it's being able to get into the details with someone and really see if they know what they are talking about. He was always fast to respond, even late at night or even some weekends. We did have to change a few things from the original quote after inspection. I couldn't get all the panels I thought I could, but it was just a limit of my house, Lumina worked with me to help me through all of that though. Overall, great support and communication, Thank You Gabriel!!! Last, I will say, be ready for this process to take some time, from the time I first talked to Lumina to the time I got PTO from my power company to turn things on, it was at least 5 months, granted this was at a time when the credits were ending at the end of 2025 and work rolled over into 2026. But the actual install was done in 1 day which was crazy fast! But they did a great job from what I can tell :). Then there was the waiting for inspections and the power company had to install a new meter.. just normal stuff everyone has to deal with that takes time, not Lumina's fault. This isn't a negative or anything just a heads up to people.. So to wrap things up, 100% would recommend working with Lumina, great sales people, great tech's, great support!! Keep up the good work!

Amazing Service with a product to match

Before getting Solar, I was worried about how much of a chore it might be to get - but when I found Lumina, they handled EVERYTHING. The breakdown I got before accepting was comprehensive and laid out what I could expect over the next 30 years. The vast improvements in the tech, my options for panel layout and the savings I was looking at were IMMENSE. I'm especially grateful for the help of my rep Kurt Bradshaw, he was always helpful, knowledgeable and able to address all my problems and clarify all my questions. -If you're looking for Solar, these guys have it down to a SCIENCE.

My wife and I decided we should look into purchasing solar panels for our home. After interviewing different companies, we decided to move forward with Lumina. Our sales person, Ryan Cook, was a pleasure to work with and explained the process every step of the way. He was always available to answer our questions no matter how complex or simple the question. Every step of the process was clearly explained to us by Ryan and Lumina. The process played out exactly as it was explained so there were no surprises. The Lumina team that installed our system were great and worked hard and efficiently to make the installation smooth. The County inspections went exactly as described Ryan and occurred even faster than we expected. We are already saving money on electricity and with rising rates, we expect our saving will continue to grow. Everytime I look at my electric bill I just smile knowing that my wife and I made a great choice, picked a great company with Lumina, and received great customer service from Ryan Cook.

Didnt fix the leak

Had a leak under our solar panels with heavy rain. A roofer came out and could repair leak but solar panels would need to be removed in the meantime. Explained to Gabe with Lumina the situation and he assured me his techs could fix while taking off the panels. Without any heavy rains things seem ok. Then leaking started again. Gabe had 2 guys come out and claimed the leak came from the fascia near the gutter. Our roofer said that was impossible because the leak was too far in and saw the problem. Now Lumina claims they do not do residental properties even though they took my payment. Looks like I will have to sue with small claims court to get my money back since they did not complete what they claimed to do.

Great customer service

Very happy with my experience with Lumina Solar. My representative, Gabriel Shabtai, clearly explained all the options when I was first exploring getting a solar system installed, and I never felt pressured to sign up. Once I did, everyone involved with my project kept me updated as to timelines and what to expect. There were many occasions when I had questions and I felt very comfortable reaching out to Gabriel numerous times. Although I mostly emailed my questions, Gabriel took the time to call me to make sure I fully understood. I've had my system running for a month and haven't had any issues, but feel confident that if something would arise it would be handled promptly. I would definitely recommend Lumina Solar.

Outstanding service

Our experience with Lumina Solar has been outstanding from the first introductory meeting to the time we started solar production. Our Sales Representative, Courtney, made a thorough presentation and was very knowledgeable about price savings calculations. She also kept us informed during the 90 day approval process. Installation took one day and went without issues. We are very happy with Lumina and have recommended the Company to our friends.

Best company hands down

What to say about lumina.... as a police officer i know when im being lied to or sold something. When talking with my consultant Courtney S., I never felt sold to or pressured into anything. I was given up front information and all my questions were answered. I met with over 4 solar companies and lumina was the final and 5th company. I went with them, not because they were the cheapest (they were not the cheapest) but the value i was getting was far above the competion and when grouped with the customer service the expiriance was so easy and painless. Everything was communicated to me and there was zero fog and mirrors, all transparent. Now enough about Lumina the company. Courtney my consultant was amazing. She was so fun and answered all my questions within minutes. She put up with my ridiculousness and had fun the whole time. She even gave me a part time, non paid, no benefits job as a solar ambassador for Lumina. I cannot say enough about her. My installers came out without an issue, took care of the install clean and fast. Im serious, there was not one single screw or trash or anything left behind by this crew. Spotless. The electrical guys did an amazing job. Even redid an electrical line I put in myself out of the kindness of their hearts. Contractor would have charged me a ton of money, hence why I did it myself. They handled everything from start to finish. Permits, the city, electric company, teaching me to use the app. Im currently well on my way to a zero dollar Electric bill. I couldn't say enough good things about my experience. Please anyone who needs info reach out and I'll tell you more but I think you get the point. Go with lumina, other companies are just doom-n-ya. Excellent solar installation company

Last week we reached the one-year mark since Lumina Solar installed solar panels on our house and they were activated. After one year, Lumina's estimate was within 3% of the actual energy production, and the small difference was on the positive side. That is, Lumina slightly underestimated how much energy our installation would produce. Only one other company we looked at got close, and that company would have overestimated energy production by about 6%. (The other two companies would have overestimated by 19% and a whopping 49%). Kudos to Lumina for being so accurate! They took a no-nonsense approach and worked closely with us as we shopped for solar installation companies and throughout the installation process, thoughtfully answering every question we posed. We are very happy with the results and very happy that we chose Lumina Solar to be our solar energy provider.

Excellent Solar Panel Installation

The process of purchasing and having solar panels installed by Lumina was a terrific experience, and I am very happy I chose Lumina Solar for the project. From the initial contact with Ali the project manager, to purchasing the system, to the individual who did the site survey, to the phenomenal team led by Tyler, that installed the system to the rest of the team who worked in the background to move things along, the professionalism, knowledge and dedication to delivering a great product was exhibited by the entire team. Lumina was very easy to work with from sales all the way through installation. The digital models of the panels on the house and the cost breakdown were very helpful in making the final decision to get them installed.

From the first interaction with our assigned Solar Consultant, Gabriel Shabtai, through the evaluation, decision making on size and cost, permitting, installation and activation, it took for us roughly 4 months: from mid-May to mid-September 2024. All the interactions with Lumina staff have been very professional and responsive.
