So So. Over commits and under delivers.
Intermountain Wind and Solar was not our lowest bid for the project, but they did have the best technology so we decided to go with them, regretfully so. Communication and project management was pretty much non-existent. In the end, we got everything we asked for and everyone was nice and pleasant to work with. Although we have a good layout on the roof, the snow slides off the upper panels and then accumulates at the bottom and completely covers the bottom panels. As such, they are not generating any power. Keep this in mind with your design. Overall, I think they did an OK job but I would recommend if you go with them to expect to manage the project and make sure you are there for the installation. If you can do all the leg work for a discount, do it. They messed up most of ours anyway.

Great system, need to stay on top of things.
I am very pleased overall with Intermountain Wind & Solar. We had a 5 KW Sunpower system with an SMA inverter installed in West Jordan, Utah. Pros: - Extremely friendly and easy to talk to - System is top-of-class, best available components in the industry were used. - I had a couple of slimy door-to-door sales reps from other companies, and they spent most of the time telling me about the finances. IW&S spent most of the time talking about the different system choices, how it would be installed, answering technical questions, etc. I'm a technical person so I was very happy with that approach. - Installation staff (electricians and roof guys) were all very approachable, intelligent, friendly, and courteous. They went to lengths to explain everything, and didn't feel rushed. They really care about doing a good job. They were friendly with my kids. Great folks. - Price was way cheaper than the lease companies. Mine was a bit more expensive because I chose premium options, but it was still a great price overall. - They were willing to make a couple of changes after we signed the contract, and then change them back when I changed my mind again, which meant a lot to me. - I would definitely go back to them for anything I do in the future. Cons - They seem really busy, probably because they are a good growing business, but expect 4+ months from the time you contract to when the system is fully installed. - With the above, you need to keep on top of things like it is your own project. Follow up frequently on what the next steps are, and when they will be done. Otherwise things won't keep moving forward. Overall, a great company.

Installation in Riverton
IW&S is the most efficient system we found. Other quotes I obtained required nearly every south facing roof surface be covered. This system required fewer panels to generate the same amount of power, and it fit all on one side of the house. The warranty is also better than any of the systems I compared it to. IW&S was good to work with. Answered all my questions, and had good solutions for the configuration challenges I had.

Like a well oiled machine
From the get go, everything I was informed of went well. I was told about all processes and kept in the loop as permitting and so on was done. I found the technicians to be very competent and friendly. The entire process was very painless, and the benefits of having solar up and they have been working great for the past few months! I'm loving the near nothing owed electric bills!

Excellent service, friendly, competent installers
All of my interactions with IWS were top-notch from the first contact with the salespeople right through to the installation. My house is high and the roof is steep. IWS had to order and use special equipment to complete the installation. The installers were friendly, answered my questions, did a professional job, and cleaned up after themselves. The system works as promised and IWS has answered all my questions. I would buy from IWS again and I recommend them to anyone who asks me about solar power.

Not as Promised
Intermountain Wind and Solar installed solar panels on our home in September of 2013. We paid $24,964 out of pocket. After tax credits the net paid was $15,286. Intermountain solar indicated on their bid that we would save $1185.75 per year or $99 per month. I have kept careful records and determined that over the last 26 months my average monthly savings have been $74/month or $888/year which is 75% of what their bid indicated I would save. I live in Bountiful and our rate is .085/kwh which is lower than that charged by Rocky Mountain Power. At this pace it will take 17 years to break even with the $15,286 investment. For this reason I do not recommend solar.

5kv Sunpower System
I recently had a Sunpower 5 KV system installed at my home in Tooele Utah. The system consists of 15 SunPower 335 black-on-black panels and a SunPower/SMA 5000-TL inverter grid tied to Rocky Mountain Power. The actual installation was fast, one full day, and professional with all work being of the highest quality. The city inspector came by the very next day and remarked that is was the best install he has seen yet. Rocky Mountain Power showed up the next day and installed the net meter and we started making power. I would highly recommend any serious consumer to include Intermountain Wind and Solar in the bidding process.

There were several thunderstorms throughout the day they installed my system. They crew had a great attitude about it and were able to finish the job on time even though they needed to take many breaks due to the storms.

Very Pleased
I worked with Intermountain Wind & Solar to apply for the Rocky Mountain Power Solar Incentive. Kendall was excellent in working with me on the incentive lottery and timing for the group purchase. The preparation and installation was a very streamlined process and they coordinated all the documentation and permits. The installation crew was clean and courteous, and was very good at answering my questions. I was also pleased to receive a flash drive at the end with all the documentation, pictures, with forms and instructions needed for tax credits. We had an unfortunate accident while drilling holes for conduit, but that was repaired quickly. Very pleased with the service, and love the reduced power bills!

They tried
I was disappointed that I wasn't allowed more input, planning and designing MY system. I have had a lot of training in solar and told the sales person that I wanted to be involved. I wasn't told until after the installation was complete that the panels couldn't be tilted further South to take advantage of the winter sun. The panels were installed on a shop with a 2 in 12 pitch metal roof on steel purlins, requiring a ballast system. I don't think the panel install crew had ever installed a ballast system before. They put things in backwards and crooked and out of line. Wherever they made or used a hole in my roof, they pumped silicone into the hole and right onto whatever was under the roof; carpet, tool boxes, freezer, overhead door, car, etc...When I mentioned it to them they said they would clean it up, but they didn't. The install crew was gone for five hours for lunch and supplies. I was very pleased with the supervisor and electrician and thought they were very professional. I am still waiting to begin to use my panels, because I have no net meter yet. The monitoring didn't work because the shop is metal and far from my wifi source, so I had to run another conduit to the equipment to hard wire it to the internet. I had also pre installed conduit to the main breaker, but cannot tell that I was given any discount for that.

Electric Bill went from $450 to $42.
I had IW&S install my 33 panel system last March. Since then, my bills have been $9, $9, $17 and most recently $42. This time last year I was paying over $11 per day. This year it is just over $1 per day. I did not request a system that covered peak demand. I could not be more pleased with the whole staff and process and results I have received thus far. It has given me a sense of independence and assured me that our retirement will be affordable, having reigned in one of the greatest cost variables.

professional installation
The installation of the solar array by the mechanical team looks very nice. The electrical team adapted the instillation so the electrical panel was on an open unused wall. The routing of the conduit looks very nice.

Fantastic Sales and Service
I had many, many questions and Kyle walked me through the entire process. The team that supports Kyle walked me through the entire process (and it is quite a process) while Kyle was on vacation. Installers came out on time, worked hard and were very courteous. They gave me the impression they cared about my solar needs and also answered a few questions.

Best contractor experience EVER!
I had IWS do a solar install on a commercial building I own. I have hired a lot of contractors for various building improvements, construction and repairs and I've never had a stress free experience until now. From the minute I committed to them doing the job they were on top of the project every step of the way. They kept me informed of the entire process and managed my expectations and the project timeline. They also worked with rocky mountain power to increase my incentive payment (FREE MONEY!). On top of all that, from the multiple bids I received they had the best price. I usually don't go with the lowest bid but their professionalism, the sales process and everything leading up to making the decision along with reviews from friends led me to decide on them and I sure glad I did!

We have been extremely pleased with all aspects of Intermountain Wind and Solar. Scott in their sales department was professional, always easy to speak with (before and after installation), never bad-mouthed the competition, and never pressured us. The engineering department was always patient and kind while thoroughly answering all of our many questions. Peggy was extremely helpful in answering any and all questions we had or getting us to the person that could. The installation crew were wonderful. Phil, Josh, Travis, Andrew, Meclane, and Brenton were very professional thru-out the entire process and we greatly appreciated their graciousness and care they took with our home. We have had many compliments already on the placement of the panels and controller along with the design on our roof. Thank You IW&S!🌎☀ï¸

Very Satisfied Customer
I had researched solar for a couple years and new it would be a great investment for my home. I got several quotes and in-home consultations. I ended up going with IMW&S because I didn't feel pressured or manipulated. Some other companies were down right deceptive. The staff was straight forward with prices and accurate in estimations of production. They carry a high quality panels, that you can trust. The install was extremely fast, works perfectly, and looks great.
