Just about one month in with my new system. Everything is great so far. They gave me a very fair deal. Justin was great on the front end and throughout the process. Despite being exceptionally busy they were able to get the install done on time. The install process was fast and easy. They handled every aspect of the project and did so very professionally.

December 4,2025 My home solar system was purchased and installed by “Hooked on Solar” in fall of 2025.The system consisted of solar panels and a Tesla Powerwall battery system. I’m extremely pleased with the entire process from information gathering from their sales representative Justin Orban, through the installation process and finally by the post sale support provided by Justin. The installers worked clean and professionally, the payment structure was milestone based and fair, they were not overly aggressive during the sales cycle and are providing timely responses to post installation inquiries. I highly recommend” Hooked on Solar” and Justin in particular if you’re considering a solar system for your home.

We had our system installed in 2021 and have been very happy with the results. Just recently we had some tech issues and questions. We reached out to Ashlee Hahn which was our sales person and she took care of everything for us even after all these years. Worked with Justin Urban at Hooked On Solar in 2021 who did an excellent job of guiding me through the solar process. Finally ended up with 22 panels and two batteries. Installation was seamless and done to my satisfaction on a concrete tile roof. I was guided through the PG&E process and received on time correspondence right up to the time the system went into service. I researched several solar companies and Justin was knowledgeable on all facets of solar including panels, installation, connections and batteries.

I have been working with Brianna Kidwell and Ashlee Hahn with a recent purchase of a Telsa Wall 3.0. Brianna has been my contact with anything to do with Solar Systems. Always helpful and supportive, when required she works internally with her resources to get me the information I request. Ashlee was extremely helpful in walking me through an analysis of my PGE bills prior and after purchase of the Tesla PowerWall. She was extremely informative in having me understand the app that supports the battery, what the data is presenting and how to review relevant data to optimize its performance. These guys are great and great to work with, I am very happy with the support they provide and highly recommend them, GREAT JOB!!!

I want to give a shoutout to the professionals at Hooked-On-Solar of Rockland, CA who recently completed the installation of a 13.5 kW-hr backup battery system at my home. They originally installed solar panels on my roof about 5 years ago and did a fantastic job with that installation, so I had no hesitation in employing them again when Ashlee Hahn sent me a proposal for a battery installation in November 2024. The signup, contract formation and invoice payments were pretty frictionless, and they got to work right away with a site visit, drawing preparation and submittals to the local building department and PG&E. They facilitated all aspects of the process including the PG&E review and approval to operate the system. The whole effort from the time I first signed the contract until the installation was completed was about 4 weeks. It did take PG&E another month to approve the system and allow it to officially operate. The battery, however, was up and running from the day the installation was complete. Ashlee and her team (Nick for installation, Rodney as Project Manager and Brianna as babysitter for me while I anxiously monitored the installation) are all first rate professionals and I would highly recommend their services for anybody’s solar system needs.

In 2021 I was shopping for a solar power system for my home and was referred by a work colleague to Justin Orban at Hooked on Solar. By the time I spoke with Justin, I had already spoken with several other solar companies so was somewhat acquainted with the process. Justin was fast at getting with us. He took our info and got back quickly with the best design for our situation. In the first year of owning this system we now know that payoff will occur well before 6 years. We have had no bill other than states mandated minimum delivery charge for being hooked up to the system. Never looking back. 100%

Hooked On Solar hooked up a residential solar system to an old electrical system at my house for a cost of $21,875. I also financed a battery system with Hooked on Solar, the two transactions separated only because Hooked On Solar forgot to include the battery in the originally financed package. Hooked on Solar installed my solar panels and battery system sometime in 2021. I noticed that in June 2022, the system performance was in decline. In January 2023, hooked on solar turned off my solar system entirely with no explanation. I contacted Hooked On Solar multiple times thruout the year, only to find out that the system was not green lighted by PGE after the solar panels were installed. I had an electrician do an all around upgrade of my electrical system in which the hub was moved away from the gas meter. Hooked On Solar then sent an addition invoice for $2700 for “Labor and Parts for moving loads back to hub+” in November 2023, and then asked me to get my electrician to give a competing quote. My Electrician complained that this was a service gap that Hooked On Solar had created and they need Hooked On Solar to finish the job before they come in again. I complained to Hooked On Solar that as State Licensed Contractors, they should not have proceeded with the original hook up to a non compliant system, and that this second invoice to “move loads back to hub” is a cost that I am only comfortable paying upto 50%, because Hooked On Solar made the problem worse by not inspecting the permitability of the system they were hooking into in the first place. System has been off since January 2023. I paid more than $30k for the solar panels plus battery, and have not had normal use of the system since June 2022.

We purchased a home that Hooked on Solar had previously installed panels. From the onset of our interaction this company has been outstanding. Our rep, Ashlee Hahn, has been fantastic! As a former sales manager I can attest with certainty her customer service standards are exceptional. We are treated as if we were the original buyers of the solar panels. We decided to install whole house battery back ups as we live in a rural area where service interruptions are to be expected. Ashlee coordinated the whole process and was able to get us qualified for a rebate which offset 80+% of the cost of the batteries and installation. Another excellent Hooked on Solar employee is Beth Gilmore. When the rebate process seemingly stalled she took control and facilitated a quick and successful resolution. Everyone with whom we've been in contact with from installers to inspectors has been first rate. I whole heartedly recommend Hooked on Solar! Ask for Ashley.

After several solar bids that left me confused because of so many contradictory statements I was lucky enough to be referred to Justin and Hooked on Solar. I was ready to proceed with them before we finished the initial presentation. They didn’t try to sell me a bigger system than I needed and found a way to accommodate my needs without my having to remove all my pool solar panels. Always took my phone calls or called me back quickly. Couldn’t be more happy with the entire process.

About a year ago, I reached out Justin Orban regarding solars. Justin was very knowledgeable and taught me a lot about my options. We had lost power a few times in 2022 and my wife and I were starting to be frustrated during bed time with the kids without power! Fast forward a few months later, we got the installation done in less than a day with batteries. I occasionally check but have forgotten everything about it. Until recently, our whole block in Pleasanton lost power. We didn't even notice. Our batteries lasted all night long and it was amazing experience. I recommend Justin and the hooked on solar team. We chose to install solar prior to this year’s PG&E NEM program change and even though most solar companies were decidedly swamped with requests, Justin Orban was attentive and took considerable time with us explaining the process in clear terms. We had been referred to him by another neighbor who highly recommended Justin and Hooked on Solar for the SunPower system. The install was scheduled promptly and while we did have some questions and concerns during that process, Justin was very responsive in resolving those issues and that made us feel like we chose the right company. While the cost was somewhat higher, the quality of components and service was a deciding factor. Even offered some financial incentives which really swung the deal. Happy to have the sun beating down on us now!

My first contact with SolarPower was through a referral to Justin Orban. From the start he was pleasant, informative, and truthful. I had been working with another company who had given me some untrue information. Justin gave me the truth and it wasn't long before I knew SolarPower Hooked on Solar was the company I wanted to do business with. Throughout the process each person who was sent to our home was courteous and truthful. They kept to their schedule and even completed some aspects of the job early. The price was also within reason when compared to other companies and there were no attempts to pressure sell or add on to the original price. Even the office staff in Rocklin went out of their way to help me when my computer skills failed me. Support after the project was completed was handled by Justin Orban and has been nothing short of superior!

I vetted 4 different companies when I was looking to install solar on my home. Hooked on Solar came in the lowest of the bids, but they also had perks that made choosing Hooked on Solar very easy. I was very happy with all aspects of the install of my Solar System, my Tesla Battery Backup and my private well conversion to Solar energy. A 145 foot trench was required for that well conversion. Everyone involved in all steps of the process and every phase were professional and experts in their respective fields. SunPower Solar was very responsive since I first called to inquire about solar for my house. From the planning Ashley H was very helpful and quick to respond to my texts/calls to discuss and answered any of my concerns and options. Danielle (operations manager) was awesome to work to accommodate my installation schedule with my work schedule . The installation went very smooth, foreman and his crew ( Nick G, Herman and Aaron ) were very efficient and their positive attitude made it easier to discuss any last minute questions about the installation. After several years of research been dealing with many different solar companies and just not really being too impressed and being very gun shy to do solar for my own personal reasons. We finally found Hooked On Solar. We got a hold of Joel he what's our first point of contact and that was a pleasant experience right off the bat. He scheduled all appointments around our schedule. We met with him via zoom on a Saturday. He explained everything in great detail and answered all of our additional questions that we had subsequent from our meeting. He helped us through the whole process picking out what we're best for our needs. We still had some questions regarding contractors license and such and as we were doing our due diligence. I went to reach out to the owner Chad, this was on a Saturday late afternoon he answered his private cell phone, answer all of my questions and I just found that to be really a great way to run a company. It was very reassuring that he didn't act like we were interrupting him. He answered all of our questions that was very impressive. That is what did it for us when Chad answered the phone and his whole attitude towards our phone conversation was what really made us feel at ease. Then to go even further all of his crew from beginning to end have been amazing! Danielle she called made appointments set things up constantly fielding questions from me and my husband we really just have had a lot of questions. Rodney the project manager set everything up seamlessly. Nick set up our appointments timely if something couldn't be done he communicated why, then followed up when he said he was going to follow up making sure the project was done when we wanted it to be done by. Then James and his crew came out and did the installation that was seamless. They were professional, knowledgeable and extremely courteous. They obviously knew exactly what they were doing and it looks amazing. Part of my apprehension regarding getting the solar was what was my roof going to look like, were there going to be holes in my roof and all of those things. It looks amazing there's no exterior power cords or anything it's all hidden and tucked away, power conduit looks great. Then Carson came out and did the final inspection with the city, that was again seamless. He arrived timely, was very professional and very knowledgeable. He explained everything gave me his phone number for follow-up questions I might have, everything was perfect. Without any question this is the company to go with everything was perfect from beginning to end! Highly recommend

Worst customer service I've seen! I purchased their solar system which mounted on the roof. A leak developed directly under the solar posts and is continuing to get worse. I've been trying to contact them multiple times for the last month. They scheduled an appointment on 01/26, 10-12 AM for someone to come and take a look but nobody showed up on our appointment. I've patiently called them multiple times trying to schedule another appointment. They promise that Taylor will call me back to take care of the issue and that never happened. I have the warranty contract in my hand and am very unsatisfied with their customer service. When a customer signed up for the solar system, it's a long term commitment and we trust Hooked on Solar to keep their promise when issues arise. I definitely don't see Hooked on Solar's attempt to work with me to resolve the issue. Now, it's raining again and I am very worried. I've patiently tried to connect with them and failed, I might have to consider alternative escalation including legislation (which I don't prefer). I shared my story here so everyone who is considering Hooked on Solar, please be careful. If you read the reviews history, I'm not the only one having issues with their customer service.

Got a fair quote and installation was done right away. I still can't believe how quick the turnaround was from getting a quote and getting the panels on the roof. We have had the panels up for a month and everything is working great so far!

Everyone worked hand in hand on making sure I was in the loop while I waited for my install without bombarding me with calls. The install is fast and hassle free, after 1 day I was ready for my final inspection! I recommend this company 200%!

I went solar with The Solar builders through Hooked on Solar in July of 2019. I had never explored going solar before that time, but I met with Jon Landsman and he helped explain all of the benefits of going solar with SunPower and Hooked on Solar. The installation went very smoothly and I was pleased with the how the system looked on my roof. However once the system was installed and I received permission to start using my solar from PG&E, I noticed on my online monitoring portal that there was no production. I brought this up to Hooked on Solar’s service department, but they came out 3 times and couldn’t figure out how to get my system to perform correctly. I had 2+ months with no solar production and racked up about $500 of usage from PG&E during the peak producing months of August and September. After one year my entire true-up bill is $576, so it’s pretty obvious when the system was working properly I would have landed close to a $0 balance. So I went though my representative Jon to ask Hooked on Solar to compensate me for the lack of production since they couldn’t “commission the system” properly to begin with. He did so on my behalf and got a canned response that “we do not compensate for lost production”. They’re more than happy to take my money for services rendered, but they don’t reciprocate when the services they provide come up short. I asked Jon to try again and escalate this up. He then wrote an appeal to their VP Don Crevoserat. They didn’t respond to Jon and he followed up a few days later and they failed to respond again. I’m very happy with Jon as he has provided bill reviews and stayed with me throughout the installation process and beyond. However...DON’T DO BUSINESS WITH HOOKED ON SOLAR OR THE SOLAR BUILDERS!! They are horrible and have zero follow through on the back end. Very frustrating experience!

I am so sad to learn that Jesus Garcia is not their no more he was the reason i was going to go for a second time to HOS . He was very professional very knowledgeable on everything and answered all my questions from A to Z. Where ever this young gentlemen goes he will be an asset to any company personally if i were the owner id look for him and hire him back lol . He didn't leave my house until he confirmed all panels were operating while creating my account he did find some of the panels were not reporting went into action and got on the roof I loved that he first secured his ladder and even put on a harness took off a few panels and figured out some were not connected appropriately so he fixed it, Came back down and finished my account with computer . If you ever get the chance to get him back do it he really is one of the reasons i would come back for a second system . And I'm sure alot of other home owners he has serviced feel the same way ..

The salesman and installation crew were informative and polite. I passed inspection but the follow up guy could not get the system up and running. Came back a second day and when he and his boss left that day they said they had 6 of the sixteen panels workings. They would be back. That was over 2 weeks ago. No return, no communication from them. Today I got a box of “swag” from salesman. I don’t want swag, I want my system to work!

We chose Hooked on Solar because they had their own installation team, even though they were higher priced than some of the other quotes we had. What a mistake that was. During installation their electrician surged our home, causing thousands of dollars in damage, blowing up our lights, pool pump, garage door opener, and other things. While the team has paid to replace those things, this was two months ago, and after near weekly calls asking when someone was going to come repair our home, we still don't have resolution. We have been unable to open our garage door for two months. The new appliances have still not been installed. They still haven't painted our home from all of the plaster they had to rip off and replace during installation, and their workman left an absolute mess at our home that still hasn't been painted or cleaned up (not to mention the app to monitor production usage wasn't working correctly at first due to an error during installation). Net/net this has been an awful experience. No one is getting back to us to deal with the damage done to our home. Buyer beware......

We chose Hooked on Solar because of the product they offered (a 6.4 kw system using Sunpower panels) and because of the relationship we quickly developed with Jon Landsman as out customer service rep. Now that we’re at the end of the process, we’re delighted with out choice. Good system output after the first few weeks, and great service all the way through the process.

My decision to go with Hooked on Solar was based in part i have owned 2 prior Sun Power solar systems and am pretty much sold on the their product. However it was important to me to have the customer service that i expected to be excellent as well. i was not disappointed. Jon and the HOS team did a fantastic job. From the very start, Jon was attentive and informative all the way through the process. the install team was efficient and professional, the administrative staff was as well. Jon has always kept me apprised of the process and was on site during the install as well. Great work. HOS may not be the cheapest, but i believe they are the best when you consider all the factors (Sales, Service, Product, and Warranty). Thanks Jon and the entire HOS Team.

Sunpower by Hooked On Solar fulfilled every expectation I had. Prior to finding them, I researched several companies and was provided quotes. I was either faced with mediocre customer service or a product that I wasn't excited about. I have been very fortunate to connect with Jon Landsman, the gentlemen who is the Sales Manager in my area. Right out of the gate Jon was very professional, friendly and was wealth of knowledge to help educate me on the solar product I was looking for and received. Throughout the process Jon�s communication was nothing short of outstanding. He made calls and sent texts to update me on next steps, and even stopped in to say hello during installation and completion, to ensure everything was in order as planned. In addition, Jon made sure that we were completely satisfied with the product I was getting. I found that Sunpower by Hooked On Solar was different than most solid providers; they are the manufacturer of the product, they are the installer, and they are the service provider after install. A complete package, rather than dealing with several vendors that would have one chase down liability in the event an issue were to arise in the future. We got a rooftop system. They clearly explained everything. The installation was as planned and was completed in less than a day! The system appears to be working great.

Had ground mounted system installed, crew did great job. They had to dig footing by hand because of were we wanted system. Had a problem with system about a year after it was installed and they came out and found a bad breaker. They actually went to hardware store and purchased new breaker. We've been very happy with the system and Hooked on Solar service.

This review is long overdue. For years my wife and I have wanted to go solar. We contacted a well-known solar company and were at the point of scheduling the installation, but we never felt comfortable with the high-pressure sales pitch of who we were dealing with. With that we decided to hold off and cancel until we felt we were ready. A colleague at work told us about Bill Gurgol and how he was happy with his experience and his solar install. The installers were very friendly and professional. The installers ran the wiring through the attic space so that we do not have any unsightly conduit showing on the rooftop. The whole process from design to “permission to operate” was very fast and we were kept informed of every next step. Bill continues to follow up and check in with us to make sure we fully understand how to read our new bill and make sure everything is running properly and optimized for best results. We love monitoring our panels to watch how much power they are producing. Competitive pricing, efficient installations, and effective follow-up.

After much research, my husband and I decided to go with Hooked on Solar for Sunpower panels. Everything from the start has been easy and convenient. We signed in May 2018, and the install is now in progress (July 2018). So far everything is going well, we will see down the road if my energy bills do go down like promised.

Took a relatively short period of time, install i one day. about 4-5 weeks from the time I went into the office to the date of install. The panels are unseen from the road. The app. keeps me updated on the amount of energy my panels are producing.
