I am writing to express my strong frustration regarding the abrupt shutdown of Curb Energy services in February. I was a very satisfied customer for years, but the service was discontinued with no advance warning, leaving your customers with no alternative solution and non-functioning equipment. Instead of abruptly shutting down, the company could have offered an offline solution or charged a small monthly fee to keep the service operating. This sudden termination with no notice is completely unacceptable. I would appreciate a response explaining why this was handled so poorly and what options are available for customers left with unusable hardware.

Got a text message "Sorry we missed you". Finally got a phone call today 4/17/2026. Told that before a service call could be scheduled, arrangement for payment must be made. (After an email, then an email response, then a contact, then, finally a schedule) My system is out!!! It was installed by you in good faith and now - - - - I am frustrated by your response! Elevation Solar installed solar on our home. The install took 2 longer than originally stated. Once the system was installed and turned on, the service tech didn’t know how to correctly set the system up. My next electric bill was three times my normal usage. Went from $289 a month to over $1000 . When I contacted Elevation Solar they had no idea why the charge was so high. After several calls and hours on the phone, it was determined the tech didn’t set the solar system and Tesla battery correctly. He originally set the system to pull power off the grid 24 / 7. So no matter what the solar panels were generating I received no credit. In fact because the system was pulling off the grid, during high peak time, instead of off my battery, I was being charged for extra power 24/7. Once this was determined Elevations said they were sorry for their mistake but said they were not at fault, even though their tech programmed the system incorrectly. I have tried calling 3 times to talk to Calvin Van Berg, Elevation Solars Director of Customer Service. Calvin has yet to pick up or return my call. This is the second Solar Panel system I have purchased, the last one in So CA. I never had any issues with my system in CA. My service from Elevation is a joke and a shame. If you decide to get a solar panel system on your home, be warned, STAY AWAY from Elevation Solar.

Poor service after the sale

Installation was great and easy back in 2018-2019. Since then the support and even sales team when inquiring about an upgrade has been terrible. This week I called the service department to discuss my failing system. After being on hold for 20 minutes I was forced to leave a voicemail as there were no agents available. After 3 days no one called so I called back. After being on hold for 20 minutes again I tried taking the new customer route to sales and was speaking with an agent within minutes. My system is 6 years (2019) and they are telling me I need to purchase a new communication piece as the 3g they installed system is no longer use. 3G was old outdated technology when my system was installed as 4G was widely available by 2013 or 6 years before my system was installed. They claim they had no idea 3G would be phased out. Please, you’re a tech company please don’t tell me you don’t know. Now they want me to spend $550 on the upgrade. Guess what, the upgrade gets me to 4G which is already outdated by a few years as we are now on 5G. However the reason my system is not working has nothing to do with the communication piece, only my ability to monitor. So they want me to spend $200 to pay for a tech to come out and to a health check. Assuming the inverter is bad (this is the guess at this point) they will then charge me an additional $275 for installation of the new inverter which is under warranty. Sales team was great in 2018-2019, but Elevation Solar has no interest in taking care of you after the sale.

Awful

This company was pretty good in 2021 when they installed the panels. I would have had good things to say about them then. In 2024, we had to replace our roof and we hired Elevation to remove and replace the solar system before and after. I coordinated with them and the roofers to schedule the panels to be removed a few days before the roof job started and reinstalled a few days after. Elevation charged $250 per panel for this service. For 27 panels, this came out to $6750. All this scheduling was done in mid-September for removal in late October and reinstallation in early November. Elevation was unable to give us the dates we wanted, so we had to push the roofers back a week. In order to get Elevation to commit to these new dates, they asked for full payment up front. "To get on the schedule for both the removal and the replacement," the rep said. So I paid in full up front. The removal was on schedule and went without a hitch. On the scheduled day of re-installation, November 4, a single guy showed up. He went up on the roof for a few minutes and then came down and rang the doorbell. Despite my making it clear in my original phone call, the tech hadn't realized it was a fully reroof and so he hadn't brought all the necessary supplies. He'd have to come back. I called Elevation the next day to ask when they'd be back, and they were unable to give me a date. I was told I'd get a date the next day. Every day I called, and every day I was told the same thing: we can give you a date tomorrow. This went on for a week. Finally, a week after the scheduled installation date, I was given a date: December 20. That's a full 6-7 week after the scheduled installation. The contract I signed stated that the work would be done within 30 days. The reason I was given for the many days of delay in even getting a date was that "Jorge got sick." That's it, no more. But they said they were scrambling to enlist subcontractors to do all these scheduled jobs and that I was not the only person in this situation. I said that a 6-7 week delay was certainly unacceptable, and I escalated the case to a manager. I consider myself a pretty easygoing guy, but that's just absurd. After he was unable to offer anything more acceptable, I said I wanted a refund for the half of the payment that was for the reinstallation. He was willing to do that, but said he'd talk to scheduling overnight and see if he could get them to move some things around and get a date sooner. He also stated that having any other company install the panels would void my warranty with Elevation, which is exactly the opposite of what the Elevation customer service rep told me when I called preliminarily when I was researching roofers, to see if I could have another company do the removal and reinstallation. I was told, "no problem, that would not void your warranty." Luckily, I went with Elevation in the end, or else my warranty would be voided and with nothing in writing saying I was told otherwise. The next day, he called back and said he was able to get December 6 and 9 as reinstallation dates. He apologized for it being so far in the future, but it was the best he could do. I considered that there would be a delay with any other company I called, and that I did want to keep the warranty, so I agreed on December 6 and 9. On December 6, a crew arrived and worked a full day. On December 9, a smaller crew arrived and worked until the middle of the afternoon. Then the doorbell rang and the tech told me that they were done for the day, that the panels were not yet on the roof, and that Elevation would be in touch to schedule the rest of the job. When I told him that we'd waited for 6 weeks for this, that they'd worked two days already, and why the delay, he said, "Call them, I'm just the tech." So now it's December 10. I just called to find out when they can schedule the completion of the job, and again I'm told they can't give me a date, but in 24-48 hours they'll call me back to give me a date. The job was originally scheduled for November 4. It's now December 10, I've paid in full, and I have no idea when they'll be back to put the panels back on and energize the system. January? February? Who knows! I know that I've been losing about $100/week on electricity, between my excess generation credits and all the grid power I've been sucking down. But I'm not going to be compensated for that. I don't know who Jorge is, but he must have been running this company single-handed. The whole operation has absolutely fallen apart because he "got sick."

I thought I enjoyed it but I was wrong

I found out much later after the fact that selling your electricity back to the grid is at a lesser rate than what you buy it from, so selling is basically out of the question. I also found out after the fact that the people who install the solar do not do good electrical work and left my "new" electrical panel with a number of errors and poor electrical work. I had to hire a separate electrician to come and fix their work to prevent exposed wiring and the constant housing blackouts... The salesman was super helpful but install took a long time and new the system had a number of errors and is unstable at best. Lately, they decided to make CURB, a an electrical monitoring system which was included at the time of install, a now subscription based service. Now I am down another slot in my electrical and will have to pay someone to come remove it.... 10/10 would recommend you look elsewhere for your solar needs.

Upon review of our home our power bill our roof structure and every other thing that they wanted to audit we felt like we made a good choice, that is until the installation was delayed throughout the entire summer, all the permits were failed more than three times, and then initial startup of the system and it only worked for 10 months. It's been 4 years and 68,000 later, and we still don't have a working system. Good luck trying to get someone to communicate with you. The only good person in that company is Juan, our experience with them has been nothing short but terrible if you want to pay a solar payment plus a power bill every month and still not have any type of working system or compensation for all the money you spend go with elevation. That is an honest review just like any other one that talks about the installation problems and issues ETC

Avoid at all cost

The install was relatively quick and they did good work. However, as soon as my microinverters stopped reporting it was a 3 month process and multiple trips to the house by a tech to replace the gateway. The system was finally up and running as well as reporting for a whole 4 days. I tried to troubleshoot multiple times before I was able to get a tech to finally come out to troubleshoot on their end only to be told that my system is functional and reporting on their end but it's not reflecting on the app. Apparently, Elevation updated their software and the system can only connect to a 2.4Ghz network. Low and behold I have a dual channel network that allows devices to connect at what ever that specific device demands. The tech insisted my only options to remedy the situation is to either pay for a device from them that connects the system directly to a satellite OR buy an external 2.4Ghz router from my internet provider to plug into my current set up. I don't know what habidashery is going on here but the whole issue makes it seem like they don't care if I can monitor my system as long as they're getting their money. I'm paying $200 a month for this system while my energy bill continues to run $300 a month during summer months. I'm furious about the situation to say the least and now I'm absolutely stuck.

They installed a monitor when my system was installed, but they pleaded ignorant and said it was a JLM system. Odd that they installed it when they installed my system in 2017, but now want to play dumb. I hired another electrical/solar firm that installs Solar to inspect my system as Elevation is not reputable. This firm indicated the monitoring system had never been installed and hooked up. The Honeywell thermostats included in the elevation contract were also not provided or installed. I plan to hire an attorney. Dishonest assholes should be driven from business. A tech finally came out mid-December but stated he needed to come back. The scheduling department was supposed to call me to book a time but never did. I called back to Elevation and they couldn't come out until mid-January. Half of my panels have been down since September. Was promised a better customer experience. If I ran my business like this it would fail. Servicing needs to improve.

Horrible, not one thing went right

Where do I even start. Sales guy Jason Taylor came out gave an estimate etc.. I signed all the paperwork May 2023. Installation was canceled two times and was finally started 8/29, they broke a ton of tiles on the roof and couldn't finish the install they said they would be back 8/30, never showed up. I called Elevation because my texts went unanswered they said they'd be there the next day on 8/31, I advise they left a mess, screws and metal pieces all over the place and I have dogs that are walking around, Kassandra advised they usually come 2 days later to clean up. I said the installer told me they'd be there the next day and I didn't know about the mess until I went out side.. They never showed up on 8/31. I texted Kassandra multiple times with no response so I called Elevation back on 9/1 talked to Kassandra again she said they'd be back monday.. They did come back Monday but the mess was made again after I cleaned it up. I texted Kassandra they made another mess and some of the metal and screws went into my pool and received no response. I texted again as they said this was the best way to get a response on 9/5, 9/7, 9/8, 9/9,9/11 and received no response for mess and when is activation. NV Energy came and approved the install and took off the tab so the power could be flipped from NV energy to solar. I continued almost daily trying to get an answer by calling and texting because now I am getting a bill from NV energy and I am paying the solar bill. I called the sales guy who brushed me off tole me to call the office, I said I have been and been texting no one is getting back to me I can't afford to pay both bills anyone living in Las Vegas knows the electric bills are 500+ a month. Its now mid October and I finally received a text from Karen saying shes been assigned to my account. She advised I needed to call NV energy because they needed to sign off on another inspection. I called NV energy they said everything is completed on their side. I called Karen back and left a VM that NV said everything was completed. Days went by again, its now NOV and I Karen text me asking if I heard from NV energy, I replied that I left a VM and they said everything is done on their side. She replied she'd check with a supervisor... Now its DEC I texted NV energy said its ready, I've been paying both bills since Aug I need a resolution. No response to multiple attempts.. Now its January Karen advised for me to send her a copy of the bills I paid and they'd send me a check. I sent Aug-Nov as Dec was not issued yet. I did receive a check for Aug- Nov. Now its Jan.. still no solar still paying Electric and solar payment, I am texting calling asking for a supervisor... Finally the end of January they tell me they heard back from NV Energy and they will be coming out shutting the power off and then activating the solar I need to call and make an appointment and let Karen know the date and time. I called NV Energy they advise that's not how it works the electrician needs to call and make arrangements with them. I left Karen know what I was told and she said she'd check with her supervisor. weeks pass by now its February I finally get her on the phone again and she said they're waiting NV energy, by now I am just fed up. I called NV energy they said no one has contacted them the only notes on my account was from me calling. I called Karen back and left a voicemail that this needs to be resolved or they can come get the panels I've been dealing with this for over a year and several of my neighbors have had solar put on and turned in in 45 days we are at 9 months. Of course my neighbors were smart enough not to go through Elevation Solar. Like a miracle 3 days later the solar was turned on and I get a 700 bill from NV energy for turning the power on and off and the rest of my electric bill. I texted Karen I have a bill from Dec, Jan and Feb for over 2300 total can I be reimbursed now.... No response... Well its now March, I get a bill from NV energy for 20$ like I was told I would "handle fees" or what ever you want to call it. April no response from Elevation about the refund, May no response and a $200 bill from NV energy.. Now its June and I get a 250 bill from NV energy for overages, July, Aug, Sept I get a bill.. Its now Oct another bill $249. I call NV energy ask why they said using more than putting into the grid. I googled elevation to get a different number to call, 866 258 4381 talk to Robert he said some panels not working as well as others, he called solar edge to make adjustments. I adv why they were set to under produce in the first place? I was told I didn't need to monitor etc. He said its my responsibility and they can send a tech to see if I need more panels but it will cost $150... Um you still owe me 2300$ and I've been paying 180-280 every month in electric plus the solar bill which is more than if I just kept electric... I just can't... dont use these people. They is zero customer service, no care or concern for their errors. They do not use good contractors they break things and leave a mess. Nothing the sales guy said was accurate and he wouldn't help resolve anything and stopped taking my calls.

From the initial sales consultant person to the "concierge customer service" to the southern california sales director, no one bothered to contact me with updates on my project. I had to always be the one to reach out to get an update and even then the responses were short and vague. Direct quote from an email "i am your Customer Concierge and will be working closely with you throughout your solar project. I will contact you at key points during the project to provide updates. You will also be receiving automated text message updates during the process. You are our top priority, and it is my goal to ensure that you understand the process" absolutely false claims since i was never contacted. I always had to reach out and ask them, and during permit approval they made a mistake on the application which further delayed and didnt tell me. Its been 3 months and im still not scheduled for installation. Company policy is not to leave the system with an issue however he was called off the job by his supervisor. I have called numerous times, and each time I'm told you're at the top of the list. They will not give a date when a tech will be out for resolution. When I escalated the issue, they said a manager will call back with 24 hours. No one has ever called back. This has happened 3 times thus far, with the same canned answer - you're at the top of the list for call back. It's now, late Sept (2022) and still no resolution. I would not recommend this company for your solar needs. They are unresponsive, and you will not get a straight answer from them when an issue arises. Company cruising on older fame, now their work ethics suck.

I got in touch with elevation solar in January and have been in constant contact with them to make sure they were handling the project in a time sensitive manner as the NEM 3.0 sunset was quickly approaching. So far we are 6 months into the project and elevation solar hasn't even managed to calculate a system that would offset 100% of my electricity needs as allowed by my city (which in case you are reading this elevation solar, a 4.78kW system offsets 99% of my usage). They failed to file permits with the city in time and now, i am screwed because the NEM 3.0 sunset with my utility is October 31, 2022. in essence elevation solar failed to design, permit or install my system within 6 months of me paying their initial fees. I am now proceeding to sue them as they have failed to respond to my emails, phone calls and even a demand letter served by certified mail. They believe that they are immune from hefty lawsuits by the contract clause "Limitation of consequential damages", but they are mistaken, as there are precedents where a contractor who knew (or should have known, given that they claim to be experts on the solar topic) that dawdling could result in damages, still chose to dawdle and not file permits in time. I am now proceeding to sue them, and they have yet to reply to me with an answer different from "you can cancel the contract and we will waive the cancelation fee for you". As others said, avoid them like the plague, they might have won best contractor of the year award in 2019, but check the reviews here and their service and expertise tanked in 2021
