No longer servicing systems they contracted

Was a great company for years that's why I used them for a full system install with panels, back up generator and water heater. Was very please. Fast forward to 7 years later. Solar is down. Water heater down. Have tried to reach them for weeks to honor the 25 year warranty on my system, that is currently down. Phone number is no longer in service, emails email unanswered. Since I am contracted with ehs no other company will touch my solar system.

Cell kit

I bought a Cell kit for $750 from this company to monitor my solar system with the SolarEdge app and when I tried to connect my cellphone to the cell kit cellular I get a message Cellular not connected. I called EHS numerous times and they don't answer. Recently when you call you get a message temporarily out of service. I went to the Cape Coral office and it's empty. I drove from Cape Coral to the Tampa Florida office and it's empty. If you look at the Better Business Bureau you will see about 78 complaints.

I paid and it’s been 2 days I’m waiting for them to call me to schedule the visit. I can’t contact them because they don’t answer and now I have to hire a 3rd professional to fix the ceiling and the panels. And I can’t get my $300 back. So run away from this companyj

Unsafe Wiring, Underperformance, and No Accountability

My experience with Efficient Home Services (EHS) has been a nightmare. The problems aren’t minor — they go to the core of safety, compliance, and honesty. Incorrect wiring: The system was engineered as 9-9-9, but EHS built it as 14/6/7, which violates Enphase’s published maximum of 13 IQ8+ per branch. Enphase confirmed this in writing and even noted cable warping/damage. Performance shortfall: The system has produced under 80% of the contract guarantee (11,957 vs. 15,001 kWh). EHS dismissed this as “normal production.” Backup loads not connected: The critical loads panel was never wired. During an outage, my home loses all power — making the battery useless. Bonus offer never delivered: I was promised a bonus incentive at the time of signing, and despite repeated follow-ups, I still haven’t received it. Customer service: Instead of taking responsibility, EHS tried to charge me a “truck roll fee” to fix their own installation errors. I’ve involved Enphase directly, and they confirmed these are installation/commissioning defects, not hardware problems. At this point, it’s clear EHS puts volume sales ahead of doing the job right — and doesn’t honor commitments to customers. ⚠️ If you are considering solar with EHS, please do your research carefully. I would not recommend them to anyone.

Horrible!

It took 8 months from start to finish. They charged me $1000 for the $750 RETE tax package but never paid the money to RETE so I am not able to use their services and the money has not been refunded to me. They also owe me a refund of $4900 which I have been waiting for since December and the manufacture of the solar panels has placed a $12,000 lien on my house because EHS has not paid the balance even though they have the full $54k from me. I cannot get anyone on the phone nor do they return emails. Also, my electric bill is still around $200!

Failed end of EHS very bad communication

Brian was a great sales person and sold me solar panels and I was supposed to be getting a 500.00 check from EHS after the install. I was told it was mailed however never received. I spoke to Brian and the Hurricane flooded the office but the check would be coming. Well that is several weeks ago now and still no check and Brian does not respond to text messages or emails. I am sure he got his commission , at least that is what it feels like. Communication is very lacking. Very disappointed. This is the second time I have purchased solar panels for a home, and no longer giving EHS the referral. Please honor your end of the sale.

Former Sales Rep - Horrible

I would avoid EHS at all costs. I worked there and was one of their top sales reps. They still haven’t paid me for work I completed, despite acknowledging they owe me and even saying they were going to pay me. Almost every single client I had with them had issues, either with their installation or with their lack of customer service. I got so sick and tired of dealing with complaints from all my clients that I left the solar industry entirely.

Company stopped standing behind it's product and installation

We have been customers of EHS since fall of 2022. After Ian, my major concern was whether our solar panels will stay put in high winds and continue to work during an outage once the sun is back out. I was reassured by EHS engineering team (in writing) that they adhere to code, which requires the panels and installation to withstand winds of over 150mph. After extensive research, we chose EHS for their product, their customer service, professionalism and their responsiveness and true care about their customers. We also went on to recommend the system and EHS to our neighbors who were waiting to see how our install and system will work. Our happiness started screeching to a halt over the summer of 2024, when EHS would not return our calls and would miss appointments that we schedule to resolve an issue we were having. That nightmare lasted over a month. We were hoping that would be the worst of it. Unfortunately, that was not. During Tropical Storm Helene, with the first wind gust of about 56 miles per hour according to meteorological data at that time, one of our solar panels flew off, travelled across our 3-year-old tiled roof, and landed on the opposite end of the roof, completely damaged. Another panel shifted and became very loose. We reached out to EHS immediately once the storm passed to let them know what happened and, considering a threat of another storm coming, to ask them to come take the damaged panel hanging off the roof down and secure the other panel that became loose. The response was that EHS staff was dealing with their own devastation and they will try to get to us whenever they can. We understood the situation, took down the panel that damaged the roof and was threatening to fall and do further damage to avoid any more serious issues. We continued to contact EHS to secure loose panel before the next storm was threatening to hit. EHS did not respond. During Hurricane Milton our city was on the south side of the storm with wind gusts of around 100-105 miles per hour. The panel that was loose flew off the roof and shattered onto the grass, another panel that was previously secure flew off and is now hanging off the roof and another couple of panels are shifted in their places. (Side note: houses on our street, positioned same as us, at the same wind angle and going through same weather event as us, did not lose any of their solar panels installed by another company). We reached out to EHS again to inspect and fix the damage. The response we received is that they are not responsible for acts of God and that we need to prepay to have someone come in to see what is going on and then prepay for fixing the panels and pay for new panels as well. This will cost us thousands of dollars. I am currently waiting for COO of the company to reach out to me and explain why they do not stand behind the work they do. I will update this review once I speak to the COO. Anyone wanting more information or any suggestions on how to resolve this issue, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at ykodry@gmail.com.

Make Efficient Home Services Great Again

When we first came on with this company they put on a good talk about how much they care about their customers and would look out for them. Fast forward to Hurricane Milton and it has become clear this company does not give a damn about its customers as people. They are using this crisis to market their rates to storm victims. $300 just to come look at your house to see if there is damage plus the high prices of repair on top of that. It's not like storm victims have any better to spend their money on so why not take advantage and make a quick buck?

BEWARE!

EHS quoted my solar panels. After discussing my electrical usage they determined I get 8 panels. It was explained thoroughly after the panels were up, passed inspection and Duke was set, there was the enphase app I would download and it would show my production, usage as well as individual panel production. Brian came out for the exit visit which was to show me how it worked but since it was going to take longer than his stay to download all the information from the previous week, he couldn’t go through everything. When everything was downloaded and working on the app, I went logged in only to find I could not see my usage. I called EHS and was told by Brittany that I didn’t order that panel and it would cost $500 for that box. Never was there an option presented and after being told by Josh (my salesman) that I would be able to see all this information, why would I question if I had to buy a particular box? This was the icing on the cake since I have been waiting for a month for Josh to call or text me back. After several calls and leaving messages when his voice mail wasn’t full, texting him and calling the company and leaving messages, he would not return my calls to try and resolve all the issues. One of the issues was an advertisement that the solar system would come with a free Tesla Battery. I sent him all the screen shots of the ad and never a word back about it. This was even after he called to apologize for not getting back to me and said he was at EHS and would call me back when he got inside. Never heard from him and it’s been a couple weeks already. Then I asked for the signed contract which Josh and I spoke about putting in the notes specified information. He sent me the drafts and I agreed on the draft dated March 15, 2024. Turns out the signed contract that was sent to me did not include any notes and they switched the panels from Silfab to Q-Cell. I called EHS and was told there are no notes. Then I was told by Brittany she saw several drafts that Josh showed her. I said yes there were so why wouldn’t the contract contain any notes? I asked to speak to the owner of the company. Brittany said he doesn’t speak to customers. I went online to watch a youtube how Shawn Henry says they provide customer satisfaction. NO THEY DON’T! They tell you things, even put it in writing and advertise online, then switch it on you. On March 15, 2024 when I accepted the notes in the contract, Josh told me after the system was up and running he would refund me $120 as we discussed since the first quotes of the 8 panel system they originally quotes me they claimed they couldn’t do a system that small. Why was I quoted prices by two different people at the company for an 8 panel system? Seems like a lot of bait and switch. Josh presented everything I wanted and then changed it. The company has done nothing to rectify any of this.

Absolutely Disgusted

PLEASE READ FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION "Absolutely Disgusted": Is the title of our review. The only thing that went smoothly was the processing of the financing. Everything else was a complete and utter failure. Prior to the day of installation my wife and I prepared the area of install and replaced all of our plumbing vent stacks with brand new varmint proof stacks, as we would not be able to easily access them after the solar array was in place. The vents were to remain accessible per the signed and sealed engineering plans that were provided to us. Install day proved that these people have no idea what they are doing. The installation was a total abomination and hack-job. Zero skills possessed by the installation crew. The crew deviated from the signed and sealed engineering plans without any approval from anyone and cut off the brand-new vent stacks and covered them. The crew missed the roof rafters in multiple locations when anchoring the grid mounts as well. Our first call was to our salesman, that first said the crew should never do that, only to later contradict himself and declare that the install crews are the professionals and know what they are doing. Not really a true statement!!! Our salesman became combative, and I subsequently band him from our property. 3 failed Hillsborough County inspections later and 3 more visits by 3 different crews, a few of whom that stated, "we really hate working there". We found through conversations with the last crew, that most of the other crew members had quit. We repeatedly telephoned the office and sent emails only to get the "we will have to get back with you" response. The ongoing delays aligned perfectly with the arrival of our first billing cycle due date for the solar system financing, resulting in the joy of paying our TECO bill along with our new solar system finance payment!! The array was finally adjusted and EHS ordered the replacement vent stacks but it was another lame job due to the fact that the vent pipes were already cut so short. A week later we went live, with no fanfare, we were shown the app, and one of the panels were not producing. The technician told us it takes time for it to register. 3 more attempts to get that resolved and nothing. Now a month after going live it is still not producing. Called the office today and it just rang, no voicemail, I then mailed our original contact and mail demon replied: Not a valid email address. I could go on and on about how something we were so looking forward to having installed and the going green and doing our part......has totally sucked!!!! Seek out your solar needs elsewhere my follow consumers, this is not a place to do business with.

The sales team said and did anything they could to get my business, only to later ignore my calls and emails regarding concerns about the system. I then followed up with the Regional Director, who was no better. She to made promises to get my system taken care of and activated right away but did nothing. I’ve had to call and email repeatedly inquiring about when my system will be activated. Please look elsewhere and do not contract with Efficient Home Services (EHS) in North Texas.

They said they would get back to me. As of today NO call back. Called this morning no answer. Had another company come out and check the leak. He told me the same thing and he took pictures. So now with the rain like it's been i need to go on roof and fix myself before more damage is done. I am 72 years old and have no business doing this bur no roofing company will fix due to warranty. The whole process was and continues to be a nightmare. The panes were not installed until Nov 2022 of which they dug a ditch around the perimeter of our property to install pipes to hold electric wires etc. The system itself did not get up and running until March 3, 2023 we still get the app to work so we can even see what it is doing AZND as of today April 3rd 2023 the ditch has NOT been filled in. Worse company ever, STAY AWAY!!!

What an error I did when I hired EHS to get my solar project. First, they got them installed all on the first floor because the team was afraid to get on the 2nd story. The 2nd story is the only spot pointing to south, so the very best place to put them. As the original plan, I was supposed to have 10 panels there. After multiple months of fighting (and a hundred follow up calls), I successfully get them back and they put 9 panels south. So, it's a lot better, but now, the panels are causing water to go over the gutter, which causes major flooding and will cause major damage to the house during big storms. When the team came back to move them, he agreed that I could recall to have them move up if needed. Now, I'm still fighting with them to have those others moved. I have a feeling I'll call my lawyer very soon.... So please, just get another company! They are cheap because their service is awful.

DO NOT USE EHS IF YOU LIVE IN THE FL PANHANDLE!

EHS has NO BUSINESS working in the Panhandle of Florida. They are based in St. Petersburg which is almost 8 hours to Pensacola. If I would have known this I would not have chosen EHS! I signed my contract on July 20, 2020 and was told they would need to submit a permit application. I received no word until I followed up with them in Oct and they said they had JUST received the permit and that the panels had been ordered. They were ready to install my system late Dec and I mentioned that was close to Christmas and had family in town, but they said it would be an easy install. EHS arrives and all they have is a 30-ft ladder (my townhouse is over 40 ft tall). They start calling around for a lift rental and can’t find one. One of the techs is looking at my standing seam metal roof informs me that they have the wrong brackets and would have to return another time. They get ready to leave and there is a pallet of solar panels and a stack of cardboard boxes/racks sitting out in the open. I asked them to put the carboard boxes under my back porch but they left the pallet of panels in my driveway till March. In Feb, the crew arrives and they have no lift. The next day a lift arrives but the crew is concerned about how slick my metal roof is and they are not sure how to secure themselves. My roof is a 5/12 pitch and shaped like two rectangles. Should be easy for guys that work on roofs for a living. The next day they get about halfway done and the rain starts. They tell me they will have to return later since the rain was going to last a couple days. One month later the next team arrives. They have a lift rented and are ready to work. They drive the lift onto my lawn getting it stuck in the mud. They damaged the lawn, sprinkler system, and cut the cable to my neighbors. Repairs were almost $2,000 which EHS agreed to pay. They get the panels installed but the system is not operational as they are waiting for a bi-directional meter. Late March I find an aluminum bracket in my driveway. I examine the array and it looks like one panel has come loose. So EHS schedules a tech to visit. He tells me the panel is not the same manufacturer as all the others and is a different thickness. I told them this was unacceptable and that I expected it to be replaced. Mid May another tech arrives with a replacement panel. He installs it and I immediately notice it is the same mismatched panel. I get on the phone with EHS and they assure me that the tech will install the correct panel. A correct panel is then installed and the tech turns my system on and gets me set up with the Enphase app. Over the next 3 months I received full bills from the solar financing company AND my electric company. I was told by EHS that the summer months were hot and that I must be using excessive amounts of electricity. I continued to inform them that my power company was not receiving power from my system. Mid-June we had a tropical storm and again I find aluminum brackets in my driveway and the Enphase app shows a panel not producing. I alert EHS and by mid-July the tech shows up to look at my system and see why one of my panels is not responding. He looks briefly at my breaker array then finds that one of my panels has a bad microinverter and needs to be replaced. August 4, a tech was supposed to arrive to fix the bad panel. He doesn’t show up and I call EHS. They inform me the tech HAD been at my house and HAD replaced the panel. I told them I had been home ALL day, and NO one had been on my roof. I was lied to by EHS. EHS then tells me the tech had a flat tire and returned to St. Petersburg. The tech shows up August 9 and finally identifies the problem with my system. EHS incorrectly attached the power coming out of my solar array into my main power line – not directly into my breaker box. EHS then promises to pay for the past four months of solar financing. The tech rewires my system and turns it on…385 days AFTER signing my contract! IF YOU LIVE IN THE FL PANHANDLE DO NOT USE EHS!!!

Poor Leadership and Quality Assurance

Contracted for roof replacement and solar installation. Roof replacement went well. Incorrect disconnect box (Square D) installed. Failed Pinellas County inspection on first attempt due to incorrect disconnect box used and improper placement (within 3 ft of air conditioner compressor). Marc (supervisor) is totally incompetent. He was present at first inspection and sends same install team out again and arranges for simultaneous county inspection without addressing the failures. System failed inspection a second time. They finally locate the correct disconnect box and send a true electrician (install team are not electricians) to replace box but never give him a "Fail List" so he doesn't know that not only does the box need to be replaced, but it also needs to be moved. Had I not been home the install would have failed inspection a third time. Inspection has not been done yet since work is being done today. Called Marc's supervisor, Natasha, on multiple occasions but she doesn't return phone calls. This all points to serious flaws in/and poor leadership, accountability and quality assurance.

We have 13 panels not working. They have been aware of this for 5 months or more. They are showing no interest in fixing this issue. This project is a year old this month- and still not working. I am paying the bill for the panels AND a power bill now. We even tried to not sign the paperwork for the finance company to pay them until the job was done. Nope! Please Listen carefully for ANYONE who reads these reviews!! The positive ones are ALL fake , friends, family members, employees. This company hires nothing but 20 year old kids to do their $40K plus solar installs!! They do NOT know what they're doing and 100% NOT trustworthy! My friend was lied to and Scammed into going solar by a swift talking salesman named John who probably doesn't even work there anymore. My friend was PROMISED her average $165 month FPL solar panel finance payment would be $142 month for 20 years..THAT'S IT with NO FPL electric bill in fact she was told that she'd Receive Bill credits back to FPL and receive checks for overage of Solar well ALL LIES!! She now is paying $179 month for 20 years NOT $142 PLUS AVERAGE of $35 monthly FPL bill!! So you do the math $179+$35=$216 month NOT $142 AS PROMISED! She was also promised a $500 Sign on Bonus as HER NEIGHBOR signed up the SAME day with the SAME salesman and He received his $500 plus $250 REFERREL bonus!! His mother also Never received the $500. She was also told we'd receive over $12,000 TAX REBATE back or use that towards the solar keeping payments at $142 month. On top of All this she has had 2 microinverters go out in less than 6 months. Turns out the Solar grid was NEVER mapped correctly per DON At EHS that works there. Their Reason the solar installers were LATE and didn't Have time to map correctly NOT her fault!! My friend then Week after panels were installed finds out her Roof is in VERY bad shape and needed replaced. NOW before the $48,000 solar panels were even installed these SOLAR installers were asked WAS THE ROOF inspected and pass the inspection to be sure having them installed was safe and was LIED to again and told Yes!! So on top of this roof needed replaced she did NOT have cash it was an Insurance claim and only had check in hand. They DEMANDED $10,000 CASH online down to Do the roof since they were ones to install panels. They were informed MANY times through emails she DID NOT have $10,000 cash but only an insurance check they needed signed to take to mortgage company . So since they Refused to do the roof without the $10K cash upfront she was forced to get another solar company to DETACH and reinstall the solar panels for roof to be replaced. When the 2nd Solar company came out they noticed immediately the Solar panels were LOOSE not tightened down correctly which in hurricane season would have been very bad!! I have pics btw of this sloppy job. I was glad I did not have them do the DNR so after roof was replaced panels replaced back. Month goes by again and the 2nd microinverter goes out in 6 months. I'm out one panel now 98% since job was started. I needed a 2nd microinverter replaced 2nd company ignored my texts after they got their $3000 so I had to find a 3rd solar company to replace the microinverter. Well they couldn't replace it because whole solar grid was NOT mapped correctly to begin with so they called EHS spoke to DON he admitted on phone they were "LATE" and the grid was mapped INCORRECTLY NOT my friends fault!! We called spoke to Jamie she was VERY rude said my friend voided contact by getting a different DNR for solar and they'd come back out for fee even though THEY SCREWED up!! This whole process has been a living nightmare!! My friend already was very ill and now she has bp daily of 160/100 on meds because of this stress and financial Burden!! She is filing a complaint along with Another neighbor to BBB because this isn't RIGHT to lie and scam people just to make a buck. We don't deserve this type of treatment and EHS has NO business lying and screwing people like this and REFUSE to fix their mistakes without CHARGING you more $$ and excuses!! Next step taking it to court with several witnesses if Nothing is resolved which they got their $$ they don't care!!! BUYER PLEASE BEWARE of this solar company!!! Nothing said is NOT the truth!!! Now because of this stress she's gotten more ill and her 750 credit score she worked HARD to get will be Destroyed!!! Thanks EHS. In the END this will be made right!!

My recommendations: do not buy solar panels. The service that the company provides is below standards. You will finish paying the solar panels plus the same power bill! We have to call many times to get service and can take more than 2 weeks. We are still waiting, their excuse is that our house is far from their area. Well, it was not far when they sold the solar panels. Sadly, a bad investment.
