Great experience.

The salesperson prepared us for every detail and not just the good stuff (she told us our home owners insurance would increase slightly due to solar). Certasun has its own installers. When our roofer did some work on our house for unrelated reasons he commented that the installers had done a great job on our solar installation. One year after installation we got the promised results. It feels good to do our part, however small, by relying on solar power. We're glad we chose Certasun to make it a reality.

Certasun did a great job from start to finish with our solar system installation. Paul did an amazing job explaining and answered all questions we had regarding solar system before installation. And installation team did great job as well. They hid the conduit pipe to the side of the house the way I wanted it.

We found that from the start of the project, beginning with the initial consultation to the final hook up of our system that Certasun was professional, extremely pleasant and patient to work with, and considerate in all aspects of this process. All the steps leading toward getting our system up and running, including helping us with our HOA contract, setting up county inspections, installation, obtaining state rebates and filing for tax credits, as well as answering our many questions we felt were exceptionally well handled. No more ComEd bills this summer!

Normally we pay $150/mo for coal-generated electricity from ComEd in the summer months because of air conditioning. Now, our panels are making all the electrical power, carbon-free, for us and the extra is stored with ComEd through the net metering program. We are storing away sunshine for cloudy days! If ComEd power goes out, our solar panels will continue to give us electricity! Our panels give us the energy first and any extra goes to ComEd for storage that will be given back to us when our electricity demand exceeds what the panels can give us. Our summer ComEd bill is $30 now. ALL THIS BECAUSE OF CERTASUN! We have been wanting solar panels for years for one reason: to help be a part of the solution to stop emitting carbon. Solar panels were always so expensive in the past. But, now with state and federal incentives, solar panels are 1/2 price. This past January, 2022, I looked at the Illinois Shines website and saw lots of vendor choices for solar panels. We called several vendors but weren't ready to commit to them. Frankly, it was overwhelming. I was nervous that vendors would stand behind their product. Luckily, my husband heard an ad for CertaSun on NPR and I gave them a try. I was not disappointed. Bill Wayne, Senior Solar Consultant, was excellent. He spent all the time that we needed to answer our questions and he gave an excellent presentation. Way better than any of the solar presentations I had heard previously. We pestered him with lots of emails and phone calls and he responded every time and was patient and extremely informed on the solar landscape including state, federal, and local regulations and incentives. If it weren't for Bill Wayne, I don't know if we would have solar yet! Certasun staff kept their promises, sent us the paperwork, and followed through in the time period promised. And as promised, It took 3 months from the initial contact to installation. Staff were knowledgeable, professional and really easy to talk to. Neighbors, and people driving through the neighborhood, including the skeptical ones, are constantly asking us about the panels and admiring how they look. I don't know how many times I have heard "I think we are going to look into it too!" My next door neighbor is very particular on how things look and she always reminds us how pretty the solar panels look on our roof. Not to mention, the value of our house increased by 4%...we checked Zillow. This investment is a win-win. We win with low energy bills and zero carbon emissions and our neighbors and surrounding community wins because of increased homeowner value. I highly recommend CertaSun. Great company. Love the Sun Power app that tracks our energy usage and the power from the sun. Sun always wins! For example, our 1 month home usage is 610 kWh. The solar panels are generating 774.4 kWh = 127%. The extra energy is being sent to the grid and is being stored by ComEd for us when days are cloudy or at night. The savings for September is $58.37 = 62 gallons of gas. Impressive. Oh! And CertaSun guarantees production! For us, they guarantee annual 112%.

Great product, excellent installation services

I have had the Certasun/SunPower product for nine months and have had no problems. I chose this team because they were professional and had the best quality of panels at the time I purchased. I found it really difficult to get customer service feedback right before and after the installation, but the team that performed the installation was excellent, and I have had no reason to call with any problems since then.

Great experience

Certasun made the process very easy, and the installation was professionally done. I especially like the 25 year guaranteed kWh guarantee, where the last 5 years is only 5% less than the first 5 years.

Start to Finish, knew what was coming

From the low pressure sales call to the final permit inspection, I was kept informed of all that was going on. Longest part of the process was getting the building permit, after that the installation(one day), testing, and final sign off happened within weeks. Installation crew was here on time, were always professional and cleaned up well after themselves. Certasun was not the cheapest but have the best guarantees and the best rated products. I am very happy with how the whole process was handled!

We had our 14 panel solar system installed by Certasun on September 15, 2018. We have since than saved $1610.20, 17 tons of CO2. Planted the equivalent of 264 fully grown. Not driven 39327 miles and saved 1783 gallons of gas The system is amazing which the above data proves.

Happy with results!

Up front sales with Dan was hassle-free and very transparent. Through that process learned all about third-party aggregators that many other installers use (CertaSun doesn't), which was very good information to have. Upon installation the crew (Jeff, Matt, David, and Corey) did a phenomenal job. They asked all the right questions, provided me with the right information upon request, and kept the area they worked in clean and tidy. They even removed an old light fixture that had been under the eaves of our roof, which helped make the installation cleaner aesthetically, and removed an old eyesore I had never gotten around to taking care of. Top notch guys, top notch work. A word of advice if you're considering solar: Plan on it taking up to six months from the time of contract signing to your first electric bill with solar savings. I signed in March and got my first bill in August, which meant I missed most of the best solar production for this year (and the resultant savings/credits)!

Quality Product and great Company

Very professional with project management that made the process easy with excellent communication every step of the way. I spent a lot of time researching products and installers. Definitely the best in the Chicago area.

Worst client and warranty service

I don’t know why people are giving them five stars. We bought a house a month ago with solar panels from Certasun. It turns out that the system is not working, and the former owner, whom we will sue for misleading us, didn't inform us, although he was receiving the information from the app. We contacted Jennifer Rickel and Paul Doughty from Certasun. Except for promises that they would fix the problem, Paul Doughty misled us that we needed to register with Comed by sending an address of SunPower. And we have an official answer from SunPower that Certasun is responsible for the warranty. So, for more than two months, we have been unable to use any electricity produced by our solar panel system. Besides, Certasun technical service phone never answers and the robot never reply!

I love my solar

From the start, Certasun was a class act. I was able to ask as many questions as I could think of in the beginning to fully understand how solar works in Illinois. Paul was a great help here, as he spent an extra hour (or two) explaining about SRECs and the installation timeline. Once the permitting was done, installation itself was done in a single day (mostly morning) by a great crew who themselves were very willing to share details about the process and how much they loved working for Certasun. The panels look great on the roof. After a few days the system was inspected and turned on to start collecting immediately afterwards. Almost 2 weeks later we have collected over 500 kWh and everything is smooth sailing.

Unresponsive, unprofessional

I’ve had an appointment scheduled for a quote for weeks. Received an email regarding whether my building is commercial; it isn’t, which was clarified via email since they called in the middle of a work day. Received cancellation notice week of appointment without reason nor notice via email or voicemail. Disappointed in this service given seemingly solid reviews. Unfortunately, I cannot relate and will need to look elsewhere for gathering quotes across the unit owners in my building. What a shame!

Certasun technicians are above average compared to other companies. Sales team does a great job explaining the Solar benefits & providing the best recommended solution. 3-Stars because, their Operations team is difficult to deal with. Once you sign the deal, they don’t follow up with you like they are post to throughout the process of going Solar. We have had several bad experiences when dealing with their Operations team. For Example, our state Incentives were promised 180 days or six months after installation date & we didn’t get it. We followed up with their team after 08 months, as we didn’t hear any follow ups or updates from them. It’s almost a year and we are still waiting but progress is being made. In short, their Technicians are really good but it’s PAIN dealing with their back office/Operations team once you sign the deal to go Solar.

I was extremely happy with my experience with Certasun Solar. The initial sales consultation was informative but not aggressive. All of my questions were answered thoroughly. Follow-up questions were answered in a timely manner. The process from engineering to permitting to installation went exactly how they laid it out. The installation crew was thorough and professional. The system looks good on the roof and is up and running. It's too soon to confirm the amount of savings but I'm confident the estimates will be realistic. Overall a very good experience. I would highly recommend using Certasun Solar.

They are very committed to deliver on what they promised. I love their commitment. They have issues with City, worked with City and corrected them, thought there is a delay in enabling the system for power generation, I see the commitment on delivery. Excellent team, they know what they are doing.

I am very happy with the services provided by Certasun. I originally talked with another company and wasn't convinced about their price and the equipment to be installed. I had a virtual consultation with Certasun rep and and liked what I heard. After agreeing to move forward, Certasun reps kept me fully informed on what was going on throughout the install and permitting process.

Great product, great people

We were happy with CertaSun every step of the way. They communicated well about each stage in the process, they answered all of our questions, their staff and crew were friendly and professional, and as a bonus, we feel the solar panels look pretty sleek on our roof. We ultimately had decided to go with CertaSun because of the guaranteed solar output with a refund check if our panels didn't meet standards and that they take care of all the entire permitting and tax credit process.

10kw residential flat roof install

Finally decided to invest in some rooftop solar. I had a hard time finding a company that would install on a flat roof. I was worried about the roof mounts and leaking. Paul from Certisun was able to put my kind at ease by showing me a detailed picture of the mounts and flashing method. Another good thing about Certisun with Sunpower panels is that they give you a detailed projection of your solar production for many years out and if your panels underperform, they will pay you for the production shortfall!! The install crew was very professional and had to overcome some additional engineering issues with my roof.
