Disappointed

Deceptive sales promises, wildly underperforming system, and a generally unresponsive company once things are installed. I still have big bills in the winter. I'd go elsewhere for your home system.

SWEET PIECE OF CAKE!

The entire process for our Blue Sky Solar system could not have been easier! My wife found Blue Sky online, and just suggested I inquire. Their response was immediate, factual, no nonsense, easily comparable, and patient with all of my questions. Scheduling the installation was a breeze, and they dovetailed into our schedule as if we were their only customer! Their installation team was wonderful and addressed all of my little inquiries and concerns. WB

Solar Panel process and install

BlueSky Solar did a great job in installing my solar panels, even though there were a few delays in the beginning. After signing up with the original salesman for solar panels, there was a wait, little communication and some confusion. The reason for this was because the salesman stopped working for the company and the accounts that he had were "lost" for a while. Another sales rep finally got ahold of me and proceeded with the process. She made everything right and I was satisfied. The installers were friendly, on-time, fast and knowledgeable. Overall, the experience was great, I love my solar panels and I even recommended a friend. Thank you Blue Sky Solar!

Poor communication, unreasonable delays, Utah Company

Despite the Springfield, Oregon storefront, Blue Sky Solar is not a local company. They are based in Utah and contract out for everything, not always to Oregon companies. We began the process for panels and battery storage in early March of 2022. It is now May of 2023. All seemed wonderful at first. It became one thing after another. We still have no panels on the roof. The latest issue, a Lyon recall that stretched into months, was outside their control, but the recalled part (inverter, not the battery) was misrepresented by them, and they did nothing to problem-solve it, mostly ignoring our calls. As in prior issues (unfamiliarity with local building codes, etc), we finally did our own research speaking directly to Lyon, then Generac, ourselves to find out what the recall was really for (Blue Sky had misrepresented the issue) and we also researched possible options. After informing Blue Sky we were not willing to wait any longer, that we were switching to Generac, we ordered the batteries, inverter and install supplies directly from Generac for half the quote offered by Blue Sky. The batteries came with 2 weeks. Over a month later, we are STILL WAITING for an install date. Our advice, find a truly local company (not one who uses simply a storefront-none of the Blue Sky people we have communicated with for our job are actually in Oregon) and a company who does their own work here in Oregon and is knowledgeable about Oregon code. We have done a lot of home remodel. There are always unexpected issues. But this company is rock bottom in their ability/willingness to communicate through and problem solve them. Hope the install goes well-when they get to it.

Good Experience

My experience with Blue Sky Solar was positive from the start. From the first call to assess my situation to the final installation everything was explained fully and clearly. All the personnel involved along the way were very professional, patient and knowledgeable about the product and the installation process. The only frustrating part was the coordination between the company, the county and the power utility. But I guess some of this is unavoidable when dealing with bureaucracies. All in all a very good experience.

1st Time Solar purchaser

From the start to where we are now in the process. I would give you all 4.8 stars out of 5!! Bravo. Had a few communications issues once the sale had been made. That being said, once Michele Lunt stepped in as our Customer experience rep. She has taken it to a whole other level. She has been the bomb!!!

Not for Oregon

Where to start. It would take a book to describe my experience with this company. Like a used car dealership, the salesperson is slick and "knows" all the right things to say. That's about the best thing this company offers. I spent a year researching solar, so part of the bad experience is of my doing. Once the salesperson gets you onboard, the clown show begins. I have been in charge of multi-million dollar projects, and the project management for this company is non-existent. The design "team" neglected to follow rules required in Oregon, specifically the 8" minimum from the peak for installation, the design did not fit the actual installation, and the placement of the control and cutoff components serve their interest to do it fast and max profit, not based on what's best for the customer. I ended up with the control box and cutoff switch on the front of my house, primarily because it was inconvenient to place it say, inside the carport where it would be sheltered. I expected the company would advocate and make suggestions on my behalf, not so. Do not expect good communication, or timely response. From the project standpoint, I was assigned a college student, who it seems did this on the side after his classes. Therefore, trying to get any timely response during the day was impossible. The company's understanding of Oregon rebate requirements is the side show to the clown show. I had to correct the boiler plate rebate for "Pacific Power", which is not my utility, get the ODOE rebate and local utility rebate straightened out on my own. These are things that I expected I paid for though this company. Their "local presence" is a unmanned storefront in Springfield, Oregon. They are based in Utah. Since the installation completed, not withstanding the rebate issue, I have had 3 microinverter problems, components not installed, and so far, no contact from the "senior project manager" about my current issue. I'm sure, if you inquire about the negative reviews, you will be told by their salesperson that they were unaware, and would make sure they remedy the issue immediately...this is just to get your sale. I don't expect quality service from them specifically, but so far, the technician handling the calls has been superb...he is not a Blue Sky Solar employee. I'm posting this after giving the company ample opportunity to respond to my issues in a timely manner, actually initiate follow up service on their own without me having to prod them continuously. They will probably say I'm just a disgruntled customer that they tried to do "everything they could" to satisfy me. Believe what you want. This company, no matter what the overall review ratings are, is not a good one for Oregon. They should stay in Utah.

Best Solar Company

Blue Sky Solar was amazing to work with. We got multiple bids and they were the best price by far. From Todd in sales, to Sammi and Megan helping with the onboarding and answering all my questions, Logan to helping manage the project, and Michelle helping after installation, everything went great. If you're considering going solar, definitely recommend giving Blue Sky a try!

Buy from someone else.

We started the project in July 2022. It's now February 2023 and it's was installed on January 2023, but it's still not active. We had to have inspectors come out THREE TIMES and yet the system is still not running. Was lied to about starting the contract not starting until the system is working, not after it was installed. That was a lie. So no 2 free months of electricity, etc. Company will not return my phone calls. I'm at a point that I'm seriously thinking about getting a lawyer involved. Pick someone else to build your solar system.

Zero promises delivered on

It has been just over a year since our system was installed. We were lied to by their sales rep Rick, about what the system would do for us and the tax incentives. He sold us too small of a system and have had NO CHANGE in our power bill September through May. We have saved some money in June, July and August. They have since said they are going to make up for it by providing more panels, which have now been sitting in my driveway for weeks because they ordered all the wrong attachment parts, just like they did at the original install. The owner of the company then VENMO'd me our power bill for two months to try to make up this oversight. They did not install correctly and were turned down by the power company to turn on the system 3 TIMES! It has been a horrible experience and we now have attorneys involved and the Energy Trust of Oregon. Go with a company with more experience, even if it costs a little more.

Great Customer Experience!

I can't say enough positives things about my recent experience with my solar install by Blue Sky Solar. They communicated with me every step of the way. My particular experience required my entire roof be reinforced and replaced. I ended up using a roofer they had past experience with and could not be happier with the results. Im still new to my panels being installed so cannot comment yet on savings. I would very much recommend the Blue Sky team on your project.

Throughout the process the communication was seamless. I always knew what was going on, where my project was and what the next step was. Almost the entire process was done via email with very minimal phone calls. Personally I liked it that way because I work graveyards and could respond to emails easier than phone calls. The product is top of the line, the install was completed in a day and the follow-up was completed shortly after that. Blue Sky knew what they were doing and planned everything from A to Z. Great product, amazing service!

When I was looking into installing solar panels, I looked at about 10 different companies in the Salt Lake Area, and did a ton of research on what I should expect to generate/use, so I went in to this with certain expectations which Blue Sky Solar met and exceeded. The sales staff (I worked with Trent) was very informative and at no point did I feel under any pressure to choose something I didn't already know I wanted based on my own research. Some of the other 10 companies I looked at either tried to upsell me, or just weren't as responsive to my questions/concerns. Once I was ready to move forward with installation, they were extremely flexible, and worked with me to find a payment plan that worked with my timing but also reduced my overall cost. Once installation began, I started working with a project manager (Felisha) at Blue Sky who was just as flexible and responsive to my (numerous) questions. She did a great job making sure everything came together by my deadline, and even drove all the way from Layton at the last minute to meet with the city inspector to open up some of the electrical panels. I'm four months into using my system, and production is very close to what they (and I) estimated it to be. I was able to get the slightly more efficient REC-Alpha Blacks at a great price and am thrilled with the system so far. The Alpha Blacks are slimmer and look really nice on my roof, and have a slightly better lifespan and efficiency than some of the other panel options. While most companies will provide a similar option for the panels themselves, it's hard to imagine anyone would have been as easy to work with as Blue Sky (or as affordable). If we ever move, or when it's time to replace them in 30 years, I will definitely reach out to Blue Sky again!

I had been thinking about solar for some time. When my salesman gave me a quote and explained how it works, I was for sure interested. He was well informed and had all my answers. One of my concerns is the way the panels look on roofs. I had been paying attention to homes with solar. I didn't like the panels looking like a tetris game on your roof. When I got my quote and layout, it was fantastic. They placed the panels on a detached garage and a dormer on the house. You cant even see the panels as it takes up the whole space of the roof tops, Very impressive. Another concern was if I was asked questions during the installation, I hoped I had answers . My installer came, did all the work very quickly without a question. My only job was to flip the on switch once the meter was changed out. This had to be one of the easiest improvements I have done. I received emails and calls on every step that was going to happen, I was well informed. I would highly recommend this company. I am a Very satisfied customer

My solar installation experience.

Blue Sky Solar recently completed my solar installation at my home in Eugene Oregon. The entire project was done in a timely fashion. They did all of the paperwork from design, permit application, loan application and the installation. My questions were promptly answered. Best system for best price

Blue Sky Solar got me a great system, great panels and a great price. I saved over $6,000 dollars by using them. I was going to go with another company until I heard from these guys. They got me better panels and saved me a fortune. Their team is amazing to work with and they've all been extremely helpful along every step of the way. I'd recommend Blue Sky to anyone.

I have had a terrific experience with Blue Sky Solar. I worked with Rick who held my hand all the way through the process so graciously. I now have wonderfully functioning solar panels on my roof and a Nest to control my temperature and LED lights throughout my house. We all want to do something to make a difference for future generations and this is the easiest possible way to do it. I am a teacher and not a wealthy person but with all the support I had financially to make this happen with tax credits it’s been100% positive all the way through.
