Solar Power World’s annual Top 500 Solar Contractors List is out now. It’s the leading magazine list of the nation’s best solar contractors. Once again, behind the list is analysis from SolarReviews.com, which curates the nation’s largest database of customer-generated reviews of solar installations and solar equipment.
The companies on the list represent an important and fast-growing sector of employment for the nation. In 2015 these leading companies employed 133,707 people, nearly 10,000 more than the 124,967 people they employed in 2014. Most of the jobs were in rooftop solar and many with smaller companies. Solar Power World found that 119 contractors of the listed contractors have 10 or fewer employees while 236 have between 11 and 50 employees.
“The companies on this year’s list exude solar-business brilliance, and they deserve to be recognized not only for being great companies but also for how their work positively impacts the environment,” said Kathie Zipp, managing editor of Solar Power World.
Top Solar Contractors ranks solar contractors across all three solar markets, utility, commercial and residential. It lists companies by service offerings (construction firms, developers, electrical subcontractors, EPCs, rooftop contractors), markets (commercial, residential, utility) and states by 2015 installed capacity. The magazine also offers a free digital version that allows users to sort the list by market, services offered and service area.
It’s the fifth annual listing of top contractors and 38 contractors on the list this year have appeared on the list every year since its inception in 2012. The magazine profiled three of these contractors with stellar service records—Monolith Solar Associates, Creative Energies Solar and Energy Independent Solutions—in the issue.
“We’re immensely proud of this year’s class of contractors—they’re all doing great work and driving innovation in the solar industry,” said Steven Bushong, associate editor of Solar Power World.
To help validate the data in the list Solar Power World turned to SolarReviews.com, which allows people to review installers’ and manufacturer’s performance as rated by their customers. The company also offers its Pre-Screened Solar Pros program, which goes the extra step in verifying solar companies’ commitment to customer satisfaction, excellent solar installations and exemplary customer service.
“It’s a great honor to again provide analysis of leading solar companies to Solar Power World,” said SolarReviews President Jamie Lakes. “Our customer-generated reviews offer unique and important insight into solar contractors’ business practices and customer interactions. Something that particularly important when consumers are investing in something that they expect will provide them with returns and will last as long—if not longer—than the lease on their home.”
The list also provides interesting insight into the state of the solar industry. For example, it found that 130 companies on the list were headquartered in California and that fully 77 percent of companies on the list do most of their business within its state of headquarters.Tweet
