Everyone was extremely professional and good at what they do--and very nice at the same time. A great combination! The tax deduction and the great buy-back rates for a Washington-made system were critical to our being able to do this now. It was still expensive but we wanted to support the industry while supporting the planet.

I was impressed with the six employees of this company (the ones I came into contact with). They were very knowledgeable about the details of this installation and other types of project in the field that we talked about than the usual contractor personnel I deal with. They well all very professional in their manner and behavior. I used the 30% federal tax credit, the State of Washington Renewable Production Credit, and the utility(state legislated) net metering agreement. Without these, I probably wouldn`t have even been thinking about this project.

Primary difficulty was with bank loan financing. Despite excellent credit rating U.S. Bank was quite slow in processing the loan. Bank appeared to be "sitting" on their money. This is a systemic problem with the banking system today. After causing a recession with bad banking practices they now are not cooperating in assisting ending the recession/depression.

In a follow-up meeting, the company contact discussed with me a contract that might be prepared for periodic panel cleaning and maintenace. To date, I have heard nothing more about this - and would like to.

We have built green (solar, tight envelope, air exchange, living roof etc) - it will be about 12-13 months after move in (late April 09) before we can say just how effective the overall package will be.

Our home is now a finalist top 15 for the national Energy Value Housing Award. The PV addition has been a significant part of the nomination. It is very nice going into retirement not having worries about rising utility bills. I included renewable energy in our new house construction because of my ethical conviction to live sustainably. I only wish that my finances would have allowed a 6 kW system.
