Worst Customer Service Ever
The initial salesman was "helpful." After that it was all downhill. I had to arrange for my own inspection when I couldn't reach Vivint. It took months to finally get the whole installation complete. Then it took eight (8) months before Vivint finally got organized enough to get me the Permit to Operate. Three individuals promised me compensation for that time without solar as originally promised. I have spent almost one year trying to receive an explanation about what happened and waiting for some small compensation that was promised at the beginning of this debacle. Every few months I finally reach someone only to discover that my last "customer service" contact isn't working there any longer. A few folks have been decent but can't do anything. I was even asked why I wanted the name of the supervisor and the president of the company! I was told last year, sorry but your project must've gotten lost in our reorganization. I believe in solar, just not this unresponsive, evasive, unorganized company .

Extremely Poor Customer Service With No Real Cost Savings!
Would not recommend Vivint Solar to anyone! Extremely poor customer service with no real cost savings! After only approximately a year, an inverter required replacement. As my husband did not want an individual on our roof without being home, he called to request a Saturday appointment. After being told to expect a telephone call for an appointment, he called back a week later after not receiving any response. Once again, my husband requested a Saturday appointment and explained reason for doing so. After being placed on hold, person stated they cannot do an appointment on a Saturday and suggested Thursday. Once again, my husband explained it would not be convenient and if they cared about the solar panel system working properly, stated they should figure it out. We both decided it was time to stop wasting our time as Vivint Solar customer service personnel apparently do not understand simple English nor care about their customers! AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!

I told them I didnt want solar installed unless my roof was in good condition. They assured me several times that it would never pass inspection unless it was good. First hard rain and leaks everywhere. They sent out 3 different roofers and all said roof needs to be replaced that the installers took out pieces of shingles to install panels and they were not installed properly. They have sent out workers to do patch work several times and now my acoustic ceilings are cracking open. The only solution they will make is more patch work cause it really worked the last times they did it. They refuse to do asbestos testing for the ceiling that is splitting open from the leaks. All they care about is the sale, when I told them I would let others know what they are doing they just said do what you want.

Really, really bad!
I have several complaints about this company. 1. The first electrician they sent left a terrible mess and made it so we can't open our circuit breaker box 2. The first set of installers installed the inverter in the worst possible location without asking me. When I asked them to move it, they told me that they would in a few weeks after the inspections. I withheld payment until they fixed it and then they decided they needed to come out immediately. 3. The monitoring isn't working. When my husband called about it, they let us know that 2 panels weren't working and that they would be out in a couple of weeks to fix it. 4. My husband took a half day off from work to wait for them to come and fix the panels. They never showed up. When he called them about it, they said they got held up and instead of coming soon, they rescheduled us for the end of the line more than 2 weeks later. 5. I called to complain about being put off so far. They told me there was nothing they could do about it. I asked to talk to a supervisor. I was told he was busy and would call me within the hour. It is now more than 24 hours later and I have had no call. 6. I called again the following day to ask to be put earlier in the schedule. Again, I was told they couldn't do earlier than 2 weeks. I wish I had payment that I could withhold. They might get out here sooner. I have asked to be called back by a supervisor. Rather than a timely call-back, I have been told to call them if I didn't hear back from them in a couple of days. What? They really have this many unhappy customers that they don't have time to call them all back for several days? Really? 7. End result: It has been 2 months since our install. I have 2 panels not working. The monitoring isn't working. I still cannot open my breaker box. We are going on 5 weeks until my husband will have to take another day off from work for them to hopefully show up. Ridiculous!!!

Vivint solar is an unethical company scamming people
VIVINT SOLAR COMPANY IS SCAM. BE WARE! READ THE FINE PRINT!!! Vivin solar is the worst company to go with. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE SIGNING UP WITH VIVNT SOLAR. This company is not customer service based. They are greedy and and won't budge even if they are unethical. The customer is not always right with vivint solar. The property we were living on got sold, the new buyer is not signing the transfer papers to make him responsible for the bills, VIVINT SOLAR acts like it's not their problem....I have been paying the new buyers bills for 6 months. We have been trying to avoid spending the money on a lawyer to resolve this, and we should have too. Vivint has informed me today that if the buyer doesn't respond or sign transfer in 30 days then VIVINT IS CANCELLING THE TRANSFER ENTIRELY. Meaning that the buyer won't be transferring services to his name at all, meaning that I will be paying for someone else's solar power bill and that's all just supposed to be ok????!!!!!??? I don't think so! Talk about a company LACKING ETHICS. They obviously don't care how they look to their customers as long as they get paid. I have had problems with vivint customer service since day one. They ARE NOT a customer based company. They only looking out for them. We even about transferring panels to our new home and continue service with them. NOPE. The only way to remove panels from old property is if we pay almost $40,000 to buy them outright. They have me and my family who just purchased a home with a large mortgage and bills in one of the most expensive places to live (Hawaii) stuck in an impossible situation. They act like their hands are tied but they have all the power. On top of the buyer being a douche bag for thinking he'll just let someone else pay the bill. Vivint solar is a very poorly run establishment with very questionable values and ethics when it comes to dealing with their customer. I have paid $950 to them to just try and keep the peace being that it is in my husbands name and so is our mortgage so bad credit wouldn't be good. This is not right any way you look at it and vivint is standing behind their contract. I was verbally informed when the guy came out to set us up, I specifically asked him if we moved would moving the panels be a problem and he said "no that won't be a problem". It's SCAM. it's all about getting as many people to sign up, banking on people not being informed or reading the small print and then holding them hostage to the contract no matter what....even if you don't reside on the property with the panels you can still be forced to pay the bill without vivint lifting a finger to make the buyer sign the transfer documents. I'd like to save anyone form signing their life away to vivint solar. The stress this whole situation has caused is insurmountable...and the hopelessness is ridiculous. Talk about corporate Greed at its finest. way to go vivint!

Not worth it
Getting solar will require you to have two electric bills. If you are on a prepayment plan with you current provider that will end and you have to pay whatever the cost is. VERY ANNOYING!!! The broke my vents when they installed the panels which cause my roof to leak. You are also stuck in a 30 year contract even if you hate the service. Nothing you can do!!! Next the winter time the solar panels are non existent. So money is only really saved in the summer. Third problem, if you try to sell your house...you have to sell the solar panels. Which a lot of people don't want. My next house I will not get solar or want solar on the house. Don't let me get started on the customer service!!!!

Vivint Roof Repair
In January of 2015 two leaks where detected in my roof due to the installation of the panels which where installed in 2013. It took 5 months and multitudes of crews and roofers to find the leaks (I found them in a week) and repair the leaks. Shortly afterwards 3 more leaks where found and were attributed to all the traffic on the roof trying to repair the original 2 leaks. The leaks where repaired but at present (February, 2017) the panels have not been reinstalled. Working with Vivints damage resolution department, installation department and supervisors has been very daunting and at most times very frustrating.

PLEASE DONT SIGN UP WITH THEM
This company is a total scam!!! You will be told you will be saving money, you wont be. I am being charged more per kWh with Vivint then my own electric company (pseg). They never installed a rodent barrier so I have a squirrel infestation on my roof. They won't fix this problem unless we pay 800 dollars! Who installs a solar panel with no guard? This is how Vivint honors your 100% maintenance guarantee, they will charge you for maintenance (great scam they have). I have Squirrel urine stains all over my exterior stucco, I've tried 3 different cleaners and the stains still show. Nothing like trying to go to sleep at night wondering if rodents are chewing through electric wires on your roof. They'll allow me out of the contract, it'll only cost me 40,000 dollars to buy the system from them. They also add in 20 years of future electric charges on top of the labor and parts. If not I can simply sell the house, hopefully the next owner won't mind being over charged for electric, worry about rodent urine, nests, and fires on their roofs (Great selling point right?). Please whatever you do, stay away from this company...If even one person sees this and can avoid this scam I'll be able to sleep a little better. STAY AWAY FROM THEM...Don't believe the hype.

pigeon poop
We went with Vivint as they were the only company doing solar leasing at the time. I wish I had waited for other companies to come to Albuquerque so I could go with a better company. Here at the problems that I had. 1. It took a year from the time we signed up for the panels to be working 2. referred several people and never received my referral money 3.The worst one is they did not install any animal guard and now we have pigeons living under the panels. Vivint will install a guard but we have to pay for it. So we now have lots of pigeon poop on the roof and sidewalk. We can install something ourselves but it can't touch their panels. 4. Other companies build their system to keep the pigeons out so shop around

Deeply frustrating
I had really high hopes for Sunrun, but they've really let me down. Physical system installation occurred September 2016, but due to a missing piece of paperwork the system sat dead from September until December. When I finally took the project over myself to file the paperwork, I learned that my Sunrun project coordinator had had the paperwork since October, but did not file because he assumed my utility would not accept it. Never checked, just sat on it, and would still be sitting on it had I not pushed to close the issue myself. At that point, up and running, I was willing to forgive the error and move forward; however, about a week after we began generating power, my system's output began to trail off, and is now producing no power. Working with their support department has gotten me to "Have you tried turning it off and turning it back on again?", and the system has now been dead for another month, with no response to my emails and no technician onsite after another month of not generating power. Of course, they processed my lease payment right on time. If Sunrun wants to differentiate themselves in a competitive market, they really need to work on their project management and support. As of right now, I will absolutely be recommending going solar, but absolutely recommending against going Sunrun.

I have 32 panels , majority of the time I get a huge bill from PG&E because my panels dont work half the time. Does Vivint care ? Absolutely not, they will tell you what you want to hear until panels are installed and then they dissapear, on to the next victim.

Panels never hooked up to the grid
We installed Vivint October 2015, on October 2016 I found out that our solar system was never hooked up to the grid therefore Vivint solar was estimating our usage and charging us for it. When I spoke to customer service they admitted their mistake and said that I would have a refund coming to me. It has been 3 months now and I am still waiting for my refund. Everytime I call Vivint, they give me a different story about how the amount has or has not been approved. I can never speak to anybody higher up than a supervisor. When you ask to speak to someone higher up they say that there is nobody you can speak to and they refuse to give you any information. I was given a corporate number supposedly to handle customer complaints and Tyler who is a supervisor there basically told me there was nothing he could do to help me and that I had to speak to somebody in the Fleet Department. Well I've spoken to the people in the fleet department and they're the ones that keep giving me the runaround. How ridiculous is it that you can not even talk to somebody at a corporate level what kind of company is this?

cost to use
I added solar to my house through Vivint and had not been connected long enough to get my first bill. About 2 weeks after the installation the rep called me and said I could save more. I was advised that I could add 12 more panels to my roof. The same section that they told me before that panels could not be added due to no sun. The catch was that I had to have a whole new 2nd system and they would have to increase the cost greatly. New big boxes on the side of my house and pay more money. Keep in mind I have not even received my first bill from the first set up. If I could go back, I would not have used Vivint Solar.

Every time we follow up with them for an update we just get put off with something they are waiting for, an inspection, the town. The process started off good, but since the panels have been on the house the only ones benefiting are the birds using them as their home. I wish we never did this!!

Our house caught on fire from the panels!!! Vivint has been worse than anyone could imagine. We had the burned panels taken down as well as the undamaged portion, on the larger roof. We had to pay the costs for that roof to be repaired, out of pocket. My 77 year old father was displaced to a senior apartments. Six months later, he was was so sick with stress, he ended up selling the house at half its worth (half-repaired). Vivint is still charging him monthly, for solar power even though there are no panels up and he does not own the house. This is one year later. He has called and complained but, no one will show any compassion. I am totally disgusted, about how they are treating my father. This has been a huge loss. Our family home gone and still being billed for solar power that is not being used. They intend on continuing charging him for 20 years. The fine print of a 20 year contract was not explained to my father. Vivint has taken terrible advantage of him. My father still can not sleep nights due to this trauma, mistreatment and displacement.

Terrible company and even worst customer service
This company is a total scam. They original calculated the wrong amount of panels needed to produce enough solar energy to meet our electrical needs so we incurred an add'l assessment from our electrical company. Then after we complained our electricity bill they added more panels but neglected to tell us that we would be paying for the add'l energy these panels produced. When I called to get explanation as to why we are now being charged more the lady at Vivint said she only worked in billing and could not answer my questions. She then proceeded to transfer me to another dept which transferred me to another dept and it went on and on. Our original customer service rep that was available during the installation of our 2nd panels was not longer returning my calls or emails after the installation. I was finally able to talk to someone after I refused to pay our monthly bill but even then they said it would take over a month to analyze our account. In meantime they threatened to send us to collections if we did not pay our monthly fees. What a racket this company is. I would highly recommend to stay from this company and make sure you read all the "fine" print when considering any solar company.
