Terrible

My husband signed a lease for solar through Sun Run. They used an outside contractor for sales, and the salesman made promises he couldn 't deliver, and the company wouldn't back. They locked him into a 20 year contract that goes up 5% per year, for a contract that states they only provide about 85% of you average power use. ON A LEASE. So not only will our payments more than double, but we won't own the panels. We are spending more money to go green. We are already spending more on this system than than we did on electric, but we still end up paying some electric bills, too. To make matters worse, on a lease, THE SOLAR COMPANY COLLECTS THE ENERGY REBATES, not the customer. I tried to call their customer service (as listed online) but you have to know the extension or the name of the person you want to reach. DO NOT DO BUSINESD WITH SUNRUN, AKA SOLCIUS.

Worst decision ever

If I could give this company a 0 rating I would! At no time throughout this entire process was I told that I would be paying for the energy the system produces. Instead of paying for what I use, I pay for what the system produces? Tyler Txxxxx is a scam artist and lies to people's faces. He was working in the San Mateo area in California. Now I am stuck with 20 years of being a power plant and making this company money. When I called customer service that smug POS only had this to say..."Read your contract." Go with a different solar company

Hello - The process of installation was easy and convenient. However, now i'm having issues with the bill from my electric company where I owe them more than just my connection fee. It has turned out to be totally different than what the Sunrun rep explained to me before we signed up. I was told that i would pay a monthly $8 connection fee with my electric company plus the Sunrun monthly "lease fee". They said that at the end of the year we would pay any excess of electricity used or would get refunded if we produced more than used. I'm getting billed for overages during the month we go over and not getting credited for months where we produce more than used. I'm spending more money now on energy than I was before the solar panels. Needless to say I do not recommend. I've heard of other solar companies where you don't pay a monthly "lease fee" and you only pay for what you use after solar production is calculated. I hear those customers have great savings.

Will mantain your system to peak performance ??

Sunrun has a different meaning of peak performance then most of us solar owners. I have a 20 yr prepaid lease on a 8.9Kw system with 38 panels with an inverter on each panel due to the roof design. It was turned on January of 2012, Sunrun said they would monitor and maintain my system to its peak performance so I would get all the savings they said my system is capable of making. In 6 yrs 6 inverters have died ( 3 of which are still on my system) also one panel is slowly dying. Sunruns' techs and customer service say this is fairly common and I am still above the minimum amount they guaranteed me. But I sized the system at the beginning to cover all my electrical needs if the entire system is working at peak performance. All of these issues I had to bring to Sunruns attention as they did not monitor the system as they said they would. I fine the service techs lacking in experience and willingness to correct any issue totally, as I believe they are sub contractors just milking Sunrun and wasting my time and money. Sunrun is suppose to maintain and monitor my system so I don't have to worry about anything but adding up all my savings which is slowly shrinking. After 20 yrs at this rate I wonder if there will be any savings or if Sunrun will still be in business.

DO NOT USE VIVINT!

Horrible Horrible service. DO NOT GO WITH THEM. I regret getting a solar system from them. I wish I can get my money back and get the whole system taking off and go with somebody else. They are supposedly monitoring the production, but I'm the who has to monitor and call all the time for production not being recorded. And the insulation was a joke along with the engineer team. I sent e-mails and phone calls to make everything right before I write reviews, but they didn't, so here it is. Here is part of the e-mail I sent to them. " I thought since Vivint is a national company, the standard would be high. As I mentioned, the people didn't show up at the scheduled time., changing at the last minute, coming unannounced the next day, leaving a mess behind, leaving the garage door wide open. Even after complaining, you simply just mentioned that the person was not at the Vivint's standard and was terminated. But we still had a mess to deal with, and we didn't have anybody come by to clean the mess. The electrical issues as well. We upgraded the system accordingly, but there were so many back and forth on whether it was enough or not. I had to get my electrician involved. He had to use his own personal time to research, reach out to people to confirm his thinking was correct. and Vivint coming back at the end to say it was all ok to start with." They questioned my electrician's work. his integrity and his profession, giving us headaches and worries. All this happened while I lived in abroad. I don't wish anybody to go through the headaches that I had to go through especially when you are trying to do good by going solar. I hope you go with different company than Vivint when it comes to Solar.

Buyer Beware

Vivint installed my panels and within weeks my walls and ceilings began cracking. They sent someone to my home to patch the repairs. When I told them to address the problem that was causing the damage first they sent out three separate “engineers” to determine what the issue was. All three stated that the panels were too heavy on the knee wall. After months of calling them to get the issue resolved they told me that the panels were not the reason why my home was damaged and that they were not going to do anything about it! Not once of several months did they EVER return my calls. I always had to call them. After looking into the matter further I leavened that they have HUNDREDS of complaints like mine and never do anything about it. Needless to say the state is going after them criminally due to all the complaints and damages they have done to peoples homes! Now I have over $100,000 worth of damage to my house that I have to fix because they DO NOT CARE!!!! They are without a doubt the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with!

If I could give them a zero I would

Stay away from this company when purchasing solar systems. They are impossible to deal with and downright fraudulent with how they deal with their customers. I purchased a home with an $80K prepaid leased system by Sunrun. One meter transmission system had already failed (seller didn't tell me, not their fault), the second meter transmission system failed a few months later. I tried for months to get them to come out, they finally did and said they couldn't fix it. Refused to replace the transmission element and refused to pay to trench to my house to get to the router (really, in today's age of electronics, they don't have a transmission system that can reach my house which is barely 100 yards away). Told me the only thing to do is manually read the meters, so I did that weeks ago. Now they're telling me the person who handles that is out of the office until the end of August. And PG&E is going to hit me with a $3500 bill in August because they haven't been receiving the meter readings from Sunrun. Sunrun has been paid, they don't care. Their response, "PG&E has payment systems to help you." Really? You're defrauding me of the energy savings that I paid for and that's your response? Stay far away from this company.

52 weeks and counting

I had Vivint Solar panels put on my roof in August of 2017. Today is July 28 2018, and nothing is running yet. I was told by the salesperson that it should be from 4-17 weeks for all paperwork and inspections to be done. Well we are just about 52 weeks in and Vivint Solar is not working. My system should have been on since January 2018, but since it was raining and not much sun out I wasn't really worried. But once the sun started to come out I starting getting a bad feeling so I started calling. So many excuses and they were all directed at PGE. So I asked to speak to supervisor but none available. I was told a supervisor would call me back the next day, that was months ago and I yet to hear from a supervisor. The only way I got there attention was after I started posting reviews like this one on different social media platforms. I posted on the Vivint Solar website, yelp, bbb, consumer affairs, Call Kurtis from the news, and now this one. I have an annual payment due in a couple months and have asked Vivint Solar to help with that since my system hasn't even been up any part of this year. But the rep is giving me the run around. I have emailed the Vivint Solar CEO twice already and can't get help from him either, so to all that are looking into solar, please please please do not even look at Vivint Solar. Save the headache and go elsewhere.

Do not do business with Vivint

Where to begin. First off, there appears to be absolutely no savings on electricity. Secondly, out of the blue you will get a huge over-charge. It will take weeks, if not months, to resolve the issue despite being told that it would take 8-10 business days. The customer service when questioning the over-charge is rude and combative. When we finally got past the a-holes and talked to a manager, the manager said that they would credit our credit card account the amount of the over-charge. When it didn't happen, we had to call back only to have a different person tell us that it was not possible to credit the credit card. Now we have been told, "The check is in the mail." We will see. At one point, we got so fed up we insisted that they remove the panels from our house, they threatened us with a $24,000 fee. DO NOT GO WITH VIVINT--THEY ARE SLIME!

With Vivant my monthly bills are appx 150dls to 180dls per month! this is insane. Now I'm currently moving to a new home, I need my Panels transfer to my new home which I've been having a hard time scheduling an appt because the people that take care of that department are very busy helping other customers and they will call me back. I've been waiting for a call back for over a week. ANOTHER BIG LIE about this company when I signed the contract it said that you can transfer your panels to a new location without a cost. well GUESS WHAT that is a LIE, not only do you have to pay to remove, you also have to par to install in your new home!! I really hope people really do their research when it comes to Vivant Solar, its a horrible company, worst nightmare of my life!

Please read if considering SUNRUN, dont get ripped off like me

I dont have enough space to list all issues I have had since signing up with Sunrun but I will say it has been the worst decision I have ever made as a homeowner. Since my system was installed (over 4 years now) it has not once produced the power promised. Even with my Sunrun system I am paying the electric company between $1300 and $2000 a year. Please dont be fooled by the "guarantee" they offer on your power production, it is a scam. What it does is pays you for what they dont produce however it does not come close to covering what you will pay your electric company. The purpose of solar is to keep you in lower tiers with your utility company. When solar under produces your tiers go up and you pay the higher rate. For example my Edison bill last year was a bit over $1300, Sunrun gave me about $300 back in underproduction and I get stuck paying the extra $1000 out of pocket to Edison. Sunrun has done nothing to fix the issue and the customer service is nonexistent. The folks who answer the calls are always very polite however they cant resolve your problems. They promise a "supervisor" or the right person will call you back but nobody ever does. Oddly every time I call all of the supervisors are "in a meeting" all at the same time. Since I am in a contract there is really nothing I can do and they know it. Next is their "warrant" they speak of. It sounds great that they will monitor your system and do any and all repairs for free. Here is the issue with that. About two years after my under producing system was installed my "inverter" went out during the summer months which means I was producing zero power. Sunrun let me know that they were out of stock and it would be months before they fixed it. I asked if that meant they were not able to do any new installs across the entire country because they had no inverters and of course they said they had inverters to do new installs but none to repair the systems of their "valued" customers. So I went many months of no solar at all but don't think for a second they will let you stop paying them even though they wont repair your system. Anyway my Edison bill was $2000 that year and what Sunrun refunded me didn't even come close to covering it. If nothing else please do your homework and get quotes from several reputable companies before you go solar and truly understand your contract. I made mistakes as well that are completely my own fault. I am paying Sunrun more money for less power than some of my friends/relatives I was able to steer away from Sunrun to other companies. The salesman gave me a good pitch and I signed up without shopping around. That is completely my fault but all I have asked from Sunrun is to simply produce the power I am paying for and they have not lived up to their end of the deal one time since I signed on. And again, your in a contract for a very long time. Once they have you on the hook they have zero motivation to help you. All I can do at this point is tell my story in reviews and hang out with the poor sales representatives at Costco and warn all of their potential victims about what they are really getting with Sunrun. I don't know if there is a way for potential customers to contact me direct from here but if there is feel free to message me. I will be glad to explain all of the issues I have and what I have learned. I really don't want to see anyone get stuck in the same situation I am in. As of the date of this review I am once again producing zero power from my panels and I have no clue if/when they will bother fixing it. Thank you SUNRUN

Vivant's Total Lack of Customer Service

We had Vivant install solar panels on our roof in 2016 because of their sales pitch that it would be a HUGE savings in addition to our leaving a smaller environmental footprint, which was important to us. Well, the HUGE savings has not materialized, but that is another issue. The BIG issue is that over the past two years, we have had an increasing bird problem. This year has been terrible. I began contacting bird control businesses and have learned that solar panels are a favorite nesting/roosting place for birds. I also learned that solar companies know this and that some companies install bird netting at the time of installation of the panels to prevent any bird problems from occurring in the future. HOWEVER, the VIVANT salesman never ever said anything about possible bird problems. I have learned, during these past two months of trying to get this problem fixed, that salesmen are told NOT to mention bird problems because potential customers might back out on the sale. Over the past two months I have talked with MULTIPLE so-called customer service agents and have given me the same canned spiel with NO follow through or any indication of VIVANT being willing to shoulder responsibility for their culpability in this problem. Only one female agent ever called me back to tell me how she had followed through. The male agents have been the worst! The whole problem is that VIVANT deceived by omission at the very beginning. If we had been given all the information regarding possible - I might add, MOST LIKELY - bird problems, we would have made an educated decision about whether to install or not to install bird netting at the very beginning at the time of installation which would have been easier, less expensive and would have saved all the damage that has occurred over the past two years. We were NEVER given that information. This is not VIVANT's first RODEO!!!!! I can tell during my discussion with multiple agents that they have been dealing with this kind of problem for years. I have called many times, with little to no response. I finally wrote an e-mail to the president of the company at the ONLY e-mail address I could find, only to have an agent (not the president) respond. I could tell he never even read my e-mail because he addressed his response to my husband and not to me. What am I - a non-entity? I am the one who has been taking care of all the mess, doing all the calling, doing all the research. In addition, since beginning this process I have learned that there are reputable solar companies who take care of this problem at the very onset . . . addressing the issue and allowing the customer to make educated decisions about what should be done. I am so angry with VIVANT at this point, that if I could, I would rip down the panels and through them through their front office windows. VIVANT needs to take care of this problem immediately. I DO NOT recommend VIVANT as a reputable solar company at this point. Now, if they should step up and do the ethical thing, I would be willing to retract my review. Until then, DO NOT USE VIVANT SOLAR!!!!!

My salesman was very kind to me really but it's the company that I have issues with. I was told that I will receive a $5 discount off my montly statement if I pay through my checking account. I gave them the access but I wasn't receiving any discount. I was refered to their stupid contract which stated, "The Energy Price and all other payments in this Agreement will include a Five Dollar ($5) monthly discount if You allow Us to automatically debit Your checking account. You will not receive such Five Dollar ($5) monthly discount if You choose to pay by any means other than automatic debit from Your checking account (e.g., credit card or check). They make it seems that you will receive a credit of $5 if paid through your checking account. They actually charges $5 if you pay by other means. This makes no sense at all. Also, they installed their solar panel on a sagged roof. They never told me anything until when I got to realise that the roof was sagged. Now they told me that It's my responsibitly to fix the roof and not theirs. I expected them to have given me the option of addressing this issue before proceeding with the installationg of the sollar pannels.
