Four months and still not connected!

I was told it was going to take 6 to 8 weeks and four months later I am still not connected. I am highly disappointed with the service we have been provided. I was told that they would pay the loan until I got connected, but that has yet to happen. My sales agent and the sales manager i started with are no longer with the company. I was told they would help me through the progress. I keep being told it is being worked on and that I am almost done. The loan company is only concerned the panels were installed. I feel their functioning is part of the installation because 45 panels on my roof that are not producing do me no good. I was also told my tax credit would be 30%, but it is 26% and only if you owe taxes. I hope this helps someone make their decision on the company they go with for solar.

Started in May 2021 here it is August 2021 and still not hooked up. Took a month an d a half just to get panels installed, now waiting on permit. Had to resubmit permit. Was told they would pay 600.00 towards electric bill, but then told only if it took a longer time. Am paying total electric bill, and loan for system with no benefits.. No a happy camper.

Service was a Great

Sunpro was very professional throughout the whole process. I really liked that they don’t use sub-contractors to install on my home. My system has been installed for 8 months and my highest bill was $1.93. Talk about a savings. I had one issue with 3 of my panels on my system and they came out to replacement panels because it was a defect. I have recommended 2 of my co-workers to Sunpro and I received $1000 for each one of my co- workers when they got installed last month. If you are looking into to solar definitely choose this company. They will take care of you.

Not worth it

I am glad I waited several months before posting my review of SunPro because the initial interactions that we had with our sales representative, Kendal, is not at all the same quality that has been provided to us by the SunPro company. We had our initial consultation with Kendal in August of 2020 and our solar panels were installed in late October 2020 (first billing cycle Nov. 2020). Kendal was incredibly friendly and helpful in answering all of our solar questions. He explained how his team would take into account the angle of our roof and the amount of shade around the house when recommending how many panels to install. In the end he recommended that we install 17 panels so that our power produced would not exceed the power we used (resulting in a sell-back that is less lucrative). Our goal with our panels was to be as close to 100% energy independent as possible, and according to him, 17 panels should make our energy bills as close to $0 as possible. He also said we needed to take down a tree to make sure the panels could be effective, so that’s what we did. However, once the panels were installed the power produced seemed to be minimal compared to what we were promised during our consultation. While it is expected that the panels produce less during the winter months and on cloudy days, even during cloudy days typically panels will produce at least 0.3kWh. Overall the energy production from our panels has been less than expected. Part of what SunPro does when they install the panels is also to come into the home and make it more energy efficient by installing a Nest and replacing all light bulbs and extension cords with more energy efficient ones. They also make suggestions on what you could do to make other areas of your home more energy efficient. My husband and I found this very useful and took many of there recommendations. For example during the month of July our thermostat was set between 74 and 77 degrees and in June we even replaced a part on our AC unit to make it more energy efficient. However, since we installed our solar panels we have seen our energy consumption increase despite making the recommended adjustments and making no other changes to our lifestyle. In July 2021, our energy bill was $197, almost the same amount as our July bill last year WITHOUT solar panels. I called SunPro for help on July 13th, and they still have yet to get back to us with information despite several follow-up calls/emails. During our consultation we were informed that we would receive a 26% federal tax credit for $10,000 which we would then be able to put back towards the panels. The tax credit we actually received was less than $7,000. So in addition to still paying decent-sized energy bills (like $197 in July), we also have to find $3k that we weren’t expecting to have to pay out-of-pocket. Needless to say these panels have not been as cost effective as we originally believed based on our consultation.

Excellent customer service and unbelievable energy savings

A few years ago we had solar panels installed by Sunpro. Our energy bill went from $150-$250 per month to nothing (except having to pay for the monthly meter fee from the utility company $20). Later on, we had an installation problem with the solar panels and was quickly resolved by Sherril Teller. The customer service by her and her team has left a positive impact. Thank you very much! I recommend Sunpro to anyone who wishes to save money on their energy bills.

Very Disappointing

First of all, we would not choose to install solar if we had it to do over again. If we had been informed, we would have avoided getting sucked into the sales pitch we were given about selling power back to the electric company. Sunpro sales failed to inform us of the paltry pay-back the utility would give us for the power we now generate on their behalf. Basically, the electric company charges thirty times more for power than they pay us for our meter "running backwards". Oh how the solar industry loves to use that term, but what it means at the end of the day is that we are paying on a large loan to generate power for them. Nor were we informed that the loan we took out for solar would be considered by most banks a 2nd mortgage on our property. We had endless problems with Sunpro and would NOT recommend this company to anyone. From the time we signed a contract it took TEN months to get hooked up to the grid! Along the way we had regular and innumerable problems with Sunpro dropping the ball on us, to the point of ridiculousness. We are thoroughly disgusted at this point, especially because the state inspector that finally showed up informed us that we had just that day appeared on the state docket — after being told by SunPro that they had submitted the inspection request weeks prior. We kept hearing things from the SunPro office that turned out to be false. There were multiple problems with the administrative offices of this company — while we feel that the ground crews did a good job when they were here for installation work. Here is the list of issues we've had with this company — 1 - The salesman did not convey the complexity of our installation — either to us (ahead of signing) or to the SunPro staff so that they could assess the installation ahead of time. This resulted in confusion and delays, and a less than optimal execution vis a vis protecting our trees. 2 - There were multiple miscommunications on SunPro's part that resulted in project delays. We often felt that it was only through our own diligence that information got conveyed between involved entities, to wit: SunPro's various teams, our electric company, and government offices. 3 - Our installation was supposedly scheduled, and we were ready and waiting at home for the crew... which never showed up. In following up, we learned that our "account manager" had spaced it out. This resulted in another two weeks' delay. 4 - On a regular basis we were told we would receive call-backs from SunPro staff to update us on status and in answer to our questions. Frequently we did not receive promised phone calls from the seven different "account managers" that were assigned to us (including at least one supervisor). We found it surprising and confusing that we kept hearing, "I'm your new account manager." This shuffling between staff members demonstrably contributed to delays and misinformation. We ultimately found out that we'd been lied to about inspection scheduling, resulting

My advice is to look elsewhere

I entered into my contract in March of 2021. Was told I would get a site visit to inform me about trenching I would need to have done before installation. After many calls to customer service to schedule the visit they finally sent someone out the last week of May then informed me they wanted to start the installation the first week of June giving me very little time to finish trenching. Then the installers show up and inform me the whole plan previously agreed to was changed with no consult with me. Took three visits to get the initial electrical installation completed (that was supposed to take one day). Waited for notice of inspection and got nothing until the inspector showed up completely out of the blue and of course we were not home since the visit was not scheduled with us. Rescheduled the inspection for the following week. Project was green tagged then and now have been waiting two weeks with no communication from SunPro as to when the final installation will be accomplished. The communication from this company is absolutely dismal. I have had to take the initiative to get them to talk to me about the status of my project from day one. Their canned answer is "well let me reach out to my team and see what is going on". They are continually reaching out to someone but not to me to give me an informed answer to my questions. I have had a system sitting idle now for over a month during what should have been the peak initial return on my investment where usage and generation capacity should have been at maximum. Very disappointed and would not recommend these people to anyone. I paid cash for my installation by the way.

100% do not recommend

100% DO NOT RECOMMEND this company. Absolutely ridiculous experience from the very beginning. First, no one that matters to your account answers the phone, text messages or emails. I’d ask a simple question about my account and not get an email back for a week. I’d then have to call customer service for them to try to help but most of the time telling me only my account manager can help. Second, the install crew installed the brackets in the wrong places. Instead of owning up to their mistakes, they as well as their boss over the phone tried to strong arm me into accepting their mistake. I was told I had 2 options, get my roof replaced and have the guys fired or accept their mistake. They ended up not replacing the roof but giving me extra panels to plug the gaps they created. The install crew also left their trash all over the ground outside, from paper to nuts and bolts, to other trash as well. Third, the electrician they sent out would have failed the city inspection due to a bad wiring job had they not had a backup electrician there the day of inspection to fix mistakes. Fourth, the energypro technician who was supposed to work inside my home didn’t complete his job. He only installed half of the light bulbs he was supposed to, Didn’t wrap my water heater and only insulated one of my attic entrances. Fifth, at the time of inspection, the electricians that fixed the faulty wiring turned on my system without final approval. Final approval is supposed to come after the power company installs the correct electric meter. The system has been on since that day. I received an email saying we were still awaiting final approval to operate. I responded telling my account manager that the system was already turned on by a Sunpro electrician and it’s been almost a week and i haven’t heard anything back. I called my electric company today and they told me they weren’t even aware they were supposed to be changing out a meter and that I needed to talk to Sunpro. Sunpro is absolutely a terrible company.. do yourself a favor, go with literally anyone else.

Not a good value at this time

A large company that has a lot of experience and growing pains of fast expansion. The installers and electrician were excellent and performed a quality job. The communication from their office administration, schedulers and operations team was horrendous . Had to spend hours of my own time to contact the city inspectors and JEA (Utility company) to push project forward because quite simply Sun pro was not doing it. The value is just not there, realized too late. JEA sell rate of approximately .07 a KwH plus fees make it cost prohibitive for a solar system in North Florida. JEA only buys solar at .035 a KwH which means the system you will have to purchase will have to produce three times the power your house uses. When you you see the cost of that system you will come to the conclusion the value is not there.

INCOMPETENCE

I have canceled the installation service do to the sunpro Incompetence. We signed up for the installation service in December. The took the plans and stated an engineer would be in contact. A Few Months went by with me calling to check on start date and being told I was next on the list.. i finally receive a call and am told they misplaced the plans can I send pictures of the exterior of the house, fuse box and trusses in the attic. I did and was told I was next on the list. A few more weeks go by, I call and they said they need more pics. I was confused but they sent out the sales guy Adam. He stated it would b done with in a couple weeks. Once again weeks go by and I call and they say they need an installation guy out AGAIN TO verify the pics. He didn't show, we rescheduled that late after noon continueing to attempt to make this as easy as possible. This is the 5th time "it's a brand new ranch house with a simple roof and zero shade, I could rap my head around what was difficult" Anyway the service guy shows up in a Yellow Peske truck. I say that because they have been to the house 3 times, nobody ever had a logo work shirt, uniform or logos on the vehicles. The service install guy broke the drywall in the attic scuttle hole/entrancehe must of stepped on it. He didn't say a thing to us about the damage. I didnt in form Sunproi because I am very passive, hate friction and just wanted the job done. Even though, I have to hire a drywaller, get the paint, etc. We were told again we r next on the list, couple more weeks and guess what? I called and the stated they need to said another installer out to take more pictures. That was it, I informed Sunpro we were done and that I couldn't comprehend how they are in buisness. It had been 6 months sense we signed up for installation, we burned vacation days to let Sunpro in the house, Sunpro damaged the house, Adam the sales guy repeatedly told lies, he promises Rainbows & lolly pops and delivers Nothing.(fyi my wife said he was creepy when I wasn't there). Something to ad would b the first couple months Adam and I spoke on the phone frequently. Then it changed to him not taking or responding to my calls and only calling my wife. I have owned a company for 12 years and I understand day to day problems witch is one of the reason I was so passive, I understand life happens but damn. If u do buisness with Sunpro unfortunately you deserve what u get...

I honestly think Sunpro the company is dishonest!

My experience with Sunpro has been one lie and mistake, or ball drop after the other. That solar tax credit that they promised I would receice to pay the large portion of the finance was a flat out misrepresentation of the tax law. I will get the credit to the fine of a few hundred bucks a year, while my solar bill jumps over $800 monthly. Sunpro oversold us on panels to the tune of $89,000. That's correct! they was without a battery that was never installed. I didn't know this until after Hurricane Sally I was sitting in the dark wondering why my solar dies not work? The answer is too long and depressing to write in a review but it's safe to say, I was every disappointed. Sunpro, completely took advantage with slick talking reps, who I have not had contact with since they left with my signature. Caveat Emptor

I chose SunProPower because of the reviews of other customers. The contract was signed in late July of 2020. At that time I was told it would take 6-8 weeks to get the system installed depending on the time it took to get the necessary permits. In late September 2020 I was contacted by a young lady and told they had the permits and were ready to install the system. I just happened to ask if they had approval from the HOA for the install. It turns out they had not received the approval. I had told the sales person the particulars about getting HOA approval when I signed the contract. This oversight cost a months delay in the install. In November 2020 the solar panels we’re installed. In December 2020 the electrical support equipment and batteries were installed. At that time I was told they had to wait on the county inspector to review the the as built system versus the drawings and the power company to install the proper meter. That took about a month. The system was finally placed in service at the end of January 2021. I was told by the sales person I would get a $500 credit with the power company that never happened. Also since I was paying on the loan before the system was operational they said they would remit a months payment to me. That also never happened. I could go into other missteps, but they were a minor irritation. In all fairness the installers were very pleasant and hard workers. However, they seemed to be working on a last minute schedule that could change at any second. The scheduling out of the Tampa operations center seemed very chaotic.

Terrible Installation Service

During the sales presentation I was told this was a one-day project. Over the past three months I've had to put up with many, many delays and bad information passed on to the installation crew. My incomplete installation has been an ongoing lack of communication from the start. They were supposed to remove an existing passive solar system for my pool. The crews showed up and had no idea. A week later the next crew arrives and realize they needed to remove the six panels of the pool heater. It took them two days. More than a week after that they show up to install the panels. This ended up being a two-day project spread over two weeks. After the final panel was installed I was told it would just be a matter of one day to connect the panels to the electric system. As of this writing it's has been three weeks and I can't even get a call back from my account manager. They keep telling me they are backed up with the electricians. In addition, they were supposed to top off the insulation in the attic. Still not done.

NIGHTMARE install... NIGHTMARE company.

First- they didn’t send the crews out with proper equipment to install my 77 panels and dig a 150’ foot trench from my barn to my house. If it wasn’t for the scissor lift that I allowed them to use they would have had to carry 77 panels 15’+ to the top of my barn. Also, the electrical design was not the one we had discussed. I had to saw cut my own walkway and replaced concrete because the “electrician” couldn’t get the pipe pushed through. They sent 2 guys to hand dig a 150’ trench from my barn to my house. The conduits were ~6” from the side of my barn then kicked into the panel boxes. The majority of the conduit was less than 8” in the ground. I had to have them come out 4xs to re-dig the trench and backfill properly. The last time they came out they filled the trench with play sand they had bought from HomeDepot. It cost me over $500 to remove the material and backfill the trench. Including putting down new sod. The envoy system that communicates back-n-forth is constantly going in and out of service. I have reported it 2xs already and they have yet to send out a technician. My system was installed December 2020 and it took well over 2 months to get it turned on. My install kept getting rejected because SunPro sent in the wrong pictures and system information to CenterPoint so it was denied. 3-4xs. I was told they were going to cover a couple months of my old electric bill and the cancelation fee but I have yet to see a check from SunPro. I have a 77 panel 100k system and got a $1.50 install. I do NOT recommend this company. As of March 30, 2021 I have yet to my system running and communicating the correct way. 4 month install and counting.

Very pleased with SunPro install.

So far, we are very happy with SunPro. Our 28 solar panels were installed on Feb. 24. The installation crew arrived at 8am, and two others arrived a few hours later to install the electrical. Two of them worked until 8pm, almost completing the work in one day. Crew leader Ryan was very professional and it went smoothly (and more quietly than I'd expected). Midafternoon, EnergyPro arrived with their home energy package -- a Nest thermostat, insulation wrap for the hot water heater, LEDs, weather stripping, etc. -- and they did a home energy audit that was much more thorough than the one Duke Energy did here two years ago. The system passed inspection on March 16. Two SunPro installers arrived early to make a last connection and were here for the inspection. Again, very professional. Chris explained what they were doing and answered our questions. On March 25, I signed Duke Energy's paperwork for the interconnection. I had a question and called my project manager, who returned with an answer the same day. Now all that is left is for Duke Energy to install the bi-directional (net) meter.
