Overview of SunLux

SunLux was started by 3 founders in very early 2015. They have been in the solar industry for nearly 10 years and have seen it all and done it all with over 6,000 installations under their belt. However, they had a vision to do things differently. They built a business model that is one of the leanest operations you will encounter. Why? It means SunLux can beat any price and still offer quality name brand components and some of the best looking installations you will find! Their focus is heavily customer oriented by staying in constant communication every step of the way. They built a model that will support the customer during the process and many years after! Founders of SunLux have seen it all and have over 30 years of combined experience. They founded SunLux to offer something different, a better kind of energy. They are passionate about solar and saving money for their customers, but more importantly improving the quality of life and the environment around them. They are also passionate about giving back to local schools and churches to better the community and make an impact on peoples lives. Restrict Competitors' Ads

Overall, very happy with the project.

The project has been a success, in that the solar system seems to be functioning. All of the workers who were at the house were professional and great to work with. Great communication, etc. Shawna was our project manager and she was fantastic throughout the project and after. We have an electrical issue having to do with the main panel that they replaced. Our washing machine now trips a breaker frequently. We are confident Sunlux will address the issue and we'll then be 100% happy.

At last the saga ends. Not the fault of SunLux.

An install of solar and battery. The solar went in April 2021 Everything went well and my project manager and installers were excellent. It has been working well for over a year so far. No problems. Battery (Tesla) was not available until April 2022. Same thing, project manager (Erika Garcia) this time did an excellent job as did the installers. So as of June 8th 2022 Everything is running well. Well done to all involved.

Solid Company with Good People

There is always room for improvement, but despite supply chain issues and city permitting being out of their control, they were in constant communication the whole way. I worked with Chris Dillard on the front-end and Alex Van Der Colff on the project side. Both were excellent. Installers and technician for inspection were professional and took time to explain the process.

Overall good company

Planning and communication from sales and through the end was excellent. Had a bit of an issue with the installers creating some minor damage to a gutter and some splitting of the wood eaves. Homeowner should not have to be the one to find the damage; rather some person on the job should be designated for quality inspection and to inform the homeowner when damaged is done and the remedy. Our project manager Alex was excellent and professional keeping us well-informed along the progress. Alex especially ensured a quick turn around on repairs. The company overall is well organized and excels at communicating along the way, which is great and necessary for an A+ reputation and the longevity of the company. Thank you SunLux

Good service and fair dealings

I chose Sunlux for their professional attitude and good reputation. Most of the things in the process went off on schedule and were well done! I particularly would compliment Berlyn Yamas for here helpful attitude and prompt service and response time. When we had any problems or concerns, they were addressed very quickly, and generally in a manner and fashion in our favor. Well done!

good company, honest, credible

Sunlux had the least, maybe a total of three negative complaints by customers when checked on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) website. Compared to Sunrun, who advertises in Costco and Home Depot which had hundreds over the last 2-3 years!

Sun lux agreed to put all my panels on the back of the house

It took them a couple of years and some added panels, at their cost, but they stood behind their word. I am very happy.

Solar installation

Great company and great services. They worked with me through the entire project and made sure all my questions were answered. My electric company attempted to slow the process but Sun Lux keep me on pace and now I’m on solar and looking to enjoy a better electric bill. Would recommend this company to family and friends

SunLux Solar Installation

Please do your solar system research homework. I spent almost 8 years researching and interviewing prospective solar installers and finally settled on Sunlux Energy Inc. My installation was one of the first to use both solar and battery systems. This install was tough going at first, however, Sunlux provided on-going support throughout the entire process. In fact, Sunlux continues to provide great support to this day. My first yearly bill indicated that SCE owed me. Wow! Now that's a smoking solar/battery system. Kudos to Sunlux Energy Inc.

My experience with SunLux

I must mention that I don’t normally write reviews of any sorts, so please forgive me if my words do not convey the type of narrative that you are used to reading. The following is my best attempt of a fair and honest description and evaluation of my experience with my home’s solar project with Sunlux. So I had heard and read many reviews of Sunlux, and I was quite impressed. It appeared that this was the kind of company that I wanted to install solar panels at my home. However, things got off to a rough start since it was hard to get a hold of a contact person. I had left both a written and voice message to the company, and I didn’t get a call back after a week and a half. I decided to contact them again, and I was told that they had been experiencing “upgrade equipment problems”—fair enough. I scheduled an appointment, and our representative didn’t show up. In my experience as a homeowner, this is a red flag from a contractor; never good. But, I wanted to reconcile all the stellar reviews with this company, and despite my better judgment, I gave them another chance. I called again, and the representative sounded contrite and embarrassed over how I had been treated and offered me a small discount should I accept their services. After finally meeting with Ryan Reyes, and hearing more apologies, I felt confident about contracting Sunlux . Ryan, by the way was very professional and sounded trustworthy. I quickly forgot about my initial contact with the company. The entire job, from start to finish was a very slow, and often frustrating experience. From initial contact to final job completion, the whole project took almost five months, but in all fairness to Sunlux, in was not always because of their doing. I live in a section of Southern California that is served by LADWP, and apparently this utility company is rather particular about how they deal with solar panel companies, often making LADWP inspectors difficult to reach and schedule appointments. This in turn just causes projects to stretch out into many more additional weeks. In speaking with Sunlux employees, I got the impression Sunlux probably has better experiences with customers who are served by Edison and other utility companies On a couple of occasions, several glitches came up, and I felt I got I caught between the LADWP and Sunlux to resolve problems. For example, there was a backyard tree in the way of the city power lines. The issue? Who was supposed to trim the tree? Amazingly, this took a couple of weeks to resolve. The whole thing was confusing and aggravating to me. For the most part, my project manager kept me apprised about the progress of my project. She kept in touch through email, and she quickly got back to me about questions I would submit. However, as the project stretched out because of some unforeseen problems, I would hear less from her, and so I would have to call to get updates. Toward the end, I was having to make a lot of calls to get information. On one occasion, a worker showed up to fix a major problem with the installation location of the panel inverter. I had not been made aware that there was even a problem. I found it necessary to contact a supervisor and to request to be kept better informed of such things. This snafu eventually extended my project even more. However, in the end, everything was made right. At this point I have to state the following. First, it is not my intention to write a negative review—on the contrary, this report ends quite favorably—please read on. I simply want to describe what occurred. Second, every time I had to contact ANYBODY at Sunlux, I was always treated with captive ears, and was always treated kindly, professionally and with courtesy. In the final analysis, I have two crucial questions that address the bottom line for my money: did Sunlux stand behind its work, and correct any problems, glitches or fixes that came up during the job?, and does the Sunlux system designed for my house produce the amount of energy that was projected to be generated on my contract? To answer the first question: yes. Although it took much longer than I had ever expected, Sunlux was very complete and careful with anything that came a long the way. All workers who came to my house were clean and professional. I might add—and this is worth noting for any reputable contractor—Sunlux did not ask for their final payment until the very last fix was completed; good for them. And as to my second question, from the preliminary data I’m getting from our system, it appears my system is producing what we had expected, although I won’t know for sure for several months, until I get more complete data. This, I think will be the absolute bottom line. After all, this is the reason we choose to go solar, correct? Also, least I forget, if the system does not produce the kilowatt hours Sunlux was hoping for, how well will its promise to pay the difference to customers play out? We will have to wait and see for that one. I will most definitely update my review for this. (I will adjust “star ratings” accordingly). Would I recommend Sunlux to friends, family and to others? Absolutely. Are they a worry-free company? No. I don’t think there is such a thing, but I think they represent a young company with a potential to become a truly outstanding solar company. From speaking with many Sunlux employees over the last few months, I feel they are sincere and honest. I hope they take the time to read this.

post installation

They were clearly the best company (warranty and product) which I had come bid. They were also the most expensive, but dropped their price to compete with Sunrun and Solarmax. They quickly scheduled the install, and finished when they said they would. Plenty of follow through. They submitted the plans to the HoA and city, obtained the permits and permission, arranged the battery refund from the power company, and had it up and working in no time. Great company.

SunLux - happy with the results

I was overall very happy with SunLux’s service and installation of my solar system. Great customer support throughout the process. Got an initial estimate very quickly. The on-site audit took nearly 2 weeks to occur, seems like they should hire more of them. After the on-site audit, received the layout on my roof. Because I have a TV dish, I asked them to change it so there was access to it. Two iterations iteration (couple day turnaround each time, seemed kind of slow to me) captured my desires. After that the installation (one day) and inspection happened the next week. Great to see my meter going backwards! Would highly recommend SunLux for solar installation. They also have a great warranty with guaranteed power for 25 years.

Good overall, except for inverter that was swapped w/o notice

Our solar system from SunLux went live recently. From our initial sales consultation to the completed install was just a little more than 6 weeks, which is excellent. It could have been a week earlier if our family had not been out of town. SunLux was competitive with their quotes, and while the final $/Watt was not the absolute lowest of all the bids we received, we signed with SunLux because we wanted to support a local company that has done positive work in the community. The install crew was professional, pleasant and worked efficiently. Props especially to Anthony who made several trips after the main PV panel install to finish the install and replace broken roof tiles. We had one primary issue of concern during the install. I noticed that the install team had brought a smaller inverter than what was written in our agreement. No mention of this change had been communicated to us. This necessitated several calls to the company, but in the end Guillermo (one of the company owners) agreed to switch us back to the inverter that was listed in our signed contract. I do not believe this was an attempted cost saving move on the part of the company; I noted that the inverter that the install team had originally brought came with a Revenue Grade Meter, and actually retails for a higher price than the inverter we wanted. For most homes, the smaller inverter would have been fine and is within the recommended range for our size PV array, but our roof has almost no shading issues and a nearly ideal orientation for solar, and the smaller inverter would have artificially limited our overall production by a small but measureable percentage. With the higher capacity inverter installed, our first full days of logged production were great, and the completed system performed exceptionally well. While we are very pleased with the final result, we were disappointed about the unexpected inverter switch and that the company did not provide any notice about the change; we had to discover the change ourselves. We did appreciate that Guillermo consistently maintained an attitude of, "We will make sure that we make things right," and in the end, the results did meet our expectations. For that, we thank the staff of SunLux!

Solar panels

We started this process approximately one year ago. We called several different solar companies. SunLux was the only company that did not bug us every single day. Mike with Son Lux explained the entire system and was not at all pushy. I told him I was contacting other solar companies and that I would be looking for a Solar system in approximately one year. He said OK will not bug you if you’re interested in us please call. After my experience with all the other solar companies, SunLux was the right call. Their installation crew was phenomenal. And any questions I’ve had since I’ve been immediately addressed. They are very hands-on. I would recommend them to anybody that asks.
