Southern Light Solar

I would not recommend this company. We have had our system in for around 4 years (don't get me wrong the system works great). Our roof started leaking before thanksgiving right at a place where the bracket is attached to the roof. Chris (the owner) has ignored my emails as there is no direct line to him or his staff and has no intention of resolving. The issue is no other solar company will touch it as they are all flat out with installations and will only support their own customers. Now I will have to go to litigation. Go with a company that stands behind their warranty. This company does not. It is so important when choosing a solar company as you could be in my situation and with this company will be in my situation.

I had Southern light solar install 42 panels on my house. They were quick, professional and explained everything to the tee. It’s been amazing with little to no electric bill. Recently I had a communication problem with my system. The owner Chris was quick to respond to get us up and running again. I will never regret my choice to get solar and the company I went with. Thank you Chris and Southern light solar team!

I signed a contract with SouthernLight Solar to install 36 panels on my property in April of 2019. After major delays the panels were placed on my roof in November 2019; But I had to wait until March of 2020 for the system to be interconnected. Immediately after interconnection one array of 12 Panels had production issues. To date I am still waiting on SouthernLight to come fix the malfunctioning 12 panels. As of now they are not answering any of my calls. My experience with SouthernLight has been horrible; I am considering legal avenues for damages. Even to date, they have failed to submit the proper paperwork for my smart credits. My advice is, had I known this is how things will play out; I would have stayed away form Alex Doucet and Chris Sheldon. Nice salesmen, poor and dishonest workmanship. Stay away.

Southern light solar panels installed our panels more than 2 years ago. Our panels are working beautifully and we have been quite happy with their installation. The panels are top notch and the entire installation top rated. Recently we had some wireless connectivity issues with our panels. Alex and Chris at Southern Light Solar very willing to come over and fix the issue. We are glad that we can count on them for service if we need them. They are a good team - quite knowledgeable and friendly and provide excellent service over all.

I have had this solar system for 2 years now. During a windstorm this month one of my panels got damaged from flying debris. I reached out to southern light solar and the owner Chris showed genuine concern and had one of his professionals out the very next day and changed out the damaged panel. Installation with this company was outstanding and even 2 years later they are taking care of their customers with the same genuine concern and reliability

We decided to go with Southern Light after meeting with two other company representatives. Alex, of Southern Light, was the most informative and professional.

Sales person on point, however when it came to the actual project, it took longer than expected. Once job was complete system is now up and running and haven't ran into any issues yet.

I would recommend Southern Light Solar to others. They answered all my questions in a timely manner and did a great job with the installation!

I can't say enough good things about the team of people from Southern Light Solar who guided me through the entire process of getting solar panels. Rashod, my initial contact, Josh my customer relationship manager, Andrew who answered my many, many questions about the financial process, and dear Shelby who answered my thousand questions about everything...SRec Trade, BlueWave Solar Loans, Mass Clean Energy, Eversource Net Metering, and SolarEdge monitoring...all were fabulous! I was treated always with respect and patience. My phone calls and emails were addressed almost immediately. Dave and his team installed my panels. They too were professional, friendly, helpful, and mindful of leaving everything neat and clean. I have heard many stories about nightmare experiences in having solar panels installed. My experience with Southern Light Solar was fantastic, and I would highly recommend this company to friends and family!

We are very pleased with the solar system we had Southern Light Solar install last year. We had had a credit on our bill each month since then and no electric bill to pay and the excess has also been used on a rental property we own in another Cape Cod town as well so we could not be happier. Josh was very good to work with and we have high praise for the job the company did to install our solar panels. We went with the more expensive panels that were made in South Korea as we preferred those to the ones made in China. We are very pleased with the results of air decision to hire this company to install our panels. We did this after checking with the three referrals that the company gave us and all three gave rave reviews about Solar Light Solar. They said the workers were extremely careful and tended to every detail on the job. We had the company install our panels when we were away so did not meet them but we have absolutely no complaints. It was an excellent choice of companies! We would highly recommend them to others who are considering going solar.

I have no complaints. Southern Light Solar was easy to work with and had a very competitive price. Alex answered all of our questions and made sure that we were informed before making a decision. The installers were very quick and were not a disturbance during the installation. They left the roof and the yard clean when they were done. If you are thinking about going solar, I would strongly recommend Southern Light!

My sales consultant answered all my questions and concerns prior to signing the paperwork and I never felt pressured into making a decision. The panels were installed successfully, however it was reviewed by the chief engineer and he called explaining that it would pass inspection but that he knew of a more optimal way to do the wiring. He asked if it would be okay if the electricians came back the next day to make the changes. The electricians showed up and made the changes he described. Now my system is up and running and I couldn’t be happier with my new solar panels.

Southern Light Solar is a great company to work with. I shopped other companies like Solar City and some of those other National companies that push you to install them on your home at no cost and you get a reduction in your electric bill. Then supposedly in 20yr's you own the system. I got the pitch but when I asked about owning and they gave me a price but didn't explain one of benefits! I said to one of the rep's "You mean to tell me you are going to install solar on my house at that cost for free, and all I see is reduced price per KW?” They said “yes” like I saw this as some kind of benefit. My response was “Look I wasn’t born yesterday but I am definitely missing something here. There is a lot in the middle that is being left out because for you to put a system of that cost on my house for free doesn’t make sense. So until I figure it out I won’t be doing solar. Besides a small reduction in the rate per KW just wasn’t worth having all these panels on my house.” So unlike other companies that operate in obscurity SLS laid out all the facts, benefits, and cost to me and showed me an ROI of just under 4 years. SLS took the time to do the research that I didn’t have time to do. Owning the system was hands down the way to go for me. I have a 4000sqft home and heat/cool with Geothermal Heat Pumps that use electricity to run so they are super efficient. Adding solar to this system was just the logical thing to do. Since Sept my usage has been cut by almost 60%. Before solar if I told you what it cost for heat, cooling, and electricity you would be shocked. Now combined with solar from SLS you would call me crazy when I told you! I like a company where no one is too big for their britches from the installers to the Vice President who even helped answer some of my questions.

They showed up when they said they would, their price was competitive, they cleaned up after they were done, the system did what they said it would. That is all there is to say

Despite being a new company, Southern Light Solar has the service and professionalism of an established firm. From Joel and Josh on the sales staff, to Nolan and the great group of installers that visited my home - SLS was thorough and experienced. My entire system was installed in less than one week, and the micro-inverters allowed them to keep the entire install to the exterior of my home. The paperwork was a breeze and we're already seeing huge reductions in our monthly bills. Thank you SLS!
