Just got my 15.3 KW system operation approval from Duke yesterday. Daniel, at SolarTec Elec was simply amazing, extremely responsive and took care of everything. I chose to go with SolarTec Elec after getting four estimates. Daniel and SolarTec not only offered a great deal on this large system with quality panels and micro inverters, they were the least expensive and the most responsive. Once the contract was signed, Daniel arranged for the installation in 2 days. David and his team of installers did an outstanding job in installing all the panels and connections in one day. David and Daniel, both kept me updated every step of the way. The city inspection was completed two days after installation and Daniel and his team filed for interconnection with Duke. The interconnection by Duke was approved and system became operational in less than three weeks after SolarTec filed required papers with Duke. We are looking forward to many years of low or no electric bills with peace of mind of a 30 year transferable warranty on everything across the board. I have already recommended SolarTec to three people and will gladly recommend anyone looking for a good solar power system to contact Daniel. This company was the best price by several thousands and uses some of the best equipment. They had everything installed very quickly. Ross and the team at Solar Tech Elec were great! I signed on Friday and they were able to install on Monday. Ross took the time to educate me on the system size and my options. Solar Tech Elec was the best deal in town and the system that I had installed is currently offsetting 100% of my electric.

I was in need of a solar company that could remove and reinstall my solar panels as I was getting a new roof(finally), the company I had previously used had closed down that division. The company they had recommended was charging way too much. After some research and phone calls I happen to come across Solar Tech Elec. Spoke with Ross about what I needed and he understood the assignment. 🙌🏽 Ross made the process swift and easy. We kept in touch to coordinate the removal and reinstall of the panels to work around the roofers. Once completed, the panels went back up and it’s as if nothing had happened. They were in and out before days end. I also took the opportunity to sign up for their yearly maintenance plan. The pricing for the removal and reinstallation was spot on, other companies I had spoken to were charging significantly higher. Their maintenance plan is also worth especially for all they offer. Glad I came across them! Of course, a HUGE shout out goes to Ross for making it all happen!

Fair Pricing, Excellent Installers

SolarTechElec provided a reasonable quote for the solar panels, a Franklin 13.6 kW whole-home battery, installation, and all of the administrative things such as permits, engineering plans, etc. The installation crew were professional and courteous. They went above and beyond to keep us apprised of progress and kept the work area clean and tidy; there's more packaging and waste than I realized, but they kept the yard and driveway clean. We already owned a 13.6 kW Franklin whole-home battery. The crew incorporated our battery with the 29 Solaria Corporation PowerX-400R panels, with each panel including Enphase Energy Inc. inverters and the additional 13.6 kW battery. We have peace of mind, knowing that if the power goes out, we will still have electricity. Hurricane season doesn't make us as nervous now that our solar array and batteries are at the ready.

I wanted to convert to solar and looked at all my options. I knew I wanted to have it done to take advantage of the 30% solar tax credit but I also knew solar had changed a lot since I first looked at it twenty years ago on a different home. I started my research by contacting a couple solar brokers (online entities that take your info then "sell" the lead to a local installer), poking around on various solar information sites (private and governmental), looking at solar panel manufacturer's offerings and also reading up on the various tax laws and my local power company's solar info. I also did my local business due diligence by looking for highly regarded installers and looking for horror stories so I would know what to try and avoid. The solar brokers were very helpful in explaining the differences in panels, power demand, utility offerings and solar lingo. I also talked to about 20 different companies, local, regional and national. I had about a dozen salesman come out to the home so I could educate myself on their different offerings and business models. I let each of them know this was a multiple month process for me and that I would narrow my choice down to three companies, ask them to compare their offerings and then would make my decision. I also let them know it was critical that the project be completed by year end. Despite telling some of the companies that I would not sign anything for at least 90 days I still got the high pressure "today only" offer. That disqualified those businesses from my search. After meeting with a dozen salesmen (one company even sent out two separate salesmen) I quickly decided that I did not want to lease, and I did not want to enter into a power purchase agreement. I wanted to own the entire system. I also decided I was not going to have the installer finance the sale. I will note that the solar leasing companies were BY FAR the most aggressive, and simultaneously the least likely to listen to what I wanted. The installer financing groups were somewhat aggressive as well. The local installers were more forthcoming about the product, getting the right sized system and listening to what I wanted. A couple had salesman, only a couple were the company owner telling me what they could do. Ross at Solar Tech Elec was the latter. He listened to what I wanted, quickly got me a proposal and said he would stand by for my decision. I liked his presentation, flexibility and his offering. I also valued his patience to let me know"do my thing." He knew he had a fair price and just needed to let me find out on my own. Based on my discussions with the salespeople, my projected energy needs and past two years of bills I decided I needed a 12-15kWh system (Tier 2 Solar), using REC panels and no batteries. ( I was not looking for blackout avoidance as my power has only gone out once for 48 hours during Milton). In short, I wanted to produce about 2.2MWh/month. I also wanted to plan ahead for an electric car, poolheater, new air conditioner, and hot water heater. Critical note to anyone doing this the games played with the production numbers will drive you batty. get an understanding of how solar production is calculated and make sure you compare apples to apples. I asked each of my top 10 contenders to give me their best proposal. The bids came back between $30k-$60k. The lower bids were on the lower end of the power production, played games with the number of panels or ability to produce power, while the higher bids were for more robust equipment and production capability. There were some minor variances in the equipment (panels, inverters, batteries) and financing offers. I took the three installers that were the most responsive and shared the bids amongst them. This is where Ross won me over. He immeadiately called me back, scheduled an appointment, came out to the house to talk to me and told me what he could do, couldn't do, and why he would do what he promised. He also understood my hard deadline of December 31, even though I started the process in July. Solar Tech Elec's price was the best, Ross was local, his reviews were impeccable (if you do any online research you know there are plenty of abandonment stories out there) and his installers were employees. He even arranged for me to talk to the last person for which he did an installation. I called and spoke to the gentlemen and knew I was going to take the leap with Ross. Ross broke the deal into 3 payments, 1/3 to purchase the equipment, 1/3 upon installation and 1/3 at completion. Signed his agreement on-line and made my payments. Ross' office let me know when the gear arrived, when his team would be out to install and when the work was complete. We had a last second change of the installation plan when my wife suggested that she would rather not see the panels on the front (east facing) roof. Ross got his engineer to re-draw the plan and produce the same power. I was sure we would have to sacrifice something for that aesthetic. He was able to take that request, make it work and even more impressively he did not change his bid for the change. A note here on his installers. Hardest working team I have seen. Small, mighty and efficient. They arrived on a cold December morning and did not stop until the work was done. I had my electrical panel upgraded and they came back a bit later to do that work. They were very well mannered delightful young men. From my research I knew there were going to be some delays in getting my system properly permitted by the county/city and hooked up to Duke. The red tape did not disappoint. I will not ding Ross for this since he warned me it was out of his control and would happen but I was not fully prepared for the delays by Duke. My system was installed and operational by December 31, as Ross promised, but not connected to Duke until mid-May. Some of that delay was the city inspection and permitting process (took longer than usual due to the damage done by Milton - they only have so many inspectors and Pinellas got walloped) but most of the delay was getting Duke's approval. I knew that having a Tier 2 system required some extra insurance requirements but I did not count on needing to re-submit my insurance paperwork because the processing of my interconnection request straddled two policy years. To Ross' credit his office kept me informed and let me know that some of the delays were unusual. They got it done and held my hand through the Byzantine process. I have been producing power since January (1MWh), Feb (1.6MWh), Mar (2.2MWh), Apr (2.5MWh) and May (2.4MWh). Right in line with my planned 2.2+MWh production. Also, as promised, my power bill dropped to the Duke connection fee, about $35/month. My average power bill over the last two years averaged $250/month with half the year being $300+. It should be $35/month from here on out. A solid $200+/month savings. $200/month x 12 months = $2,400/year x 20 years = $48,000. With the tax credit I will not need the whole 20 years to pay off this investment, not even considering future energy cost increases. I also get to feel good about my reduced carbon footprint. Bottom line. Ross and Solar Tech Elec do what they say, when they say, for the price they say. Ross has checked in on me to make sure everything is working and that I was satisfied. I am very satisfied and glad I chose Solar tech Elec. Thank you Ross.

We live in Citrus County and needed to have our roof replaced, so we contacted Solar tech elec to inquire about the removal and reinstall our solar panels after completion of roof replacement. Ross the owner was extremely helpful and upfront about the entire process, always promptly answering our texts/ phone calls whenever we had questions.Our panels were all removed in a timely manner and reinstalled right after the roofing company had finished their job. Buckle up, this is a long review, but hopefully worth it if you use them to help make your decisions. If you want the Reader’s Digest / TLDR - I highly recommend Ross and STE. if you want better details, read on. I have always been interested in solar but knew I needed to wait till I was in my presumably forever home, which we now are. In the spring, I started looking into local solar companies. I lurked on community Facebook posts, spoke with neighbors, and lined up meetings with five companies that people had used. Ross was the first we met with, so at the time, we had no perspective. He made confident claims about his company, which I took with a grain of salt. We met with three more after him. Ross included not just the numbers in his estimate, but also detailed information about the system components so I could go look them up, which I did, so I could determine if other estimates were apples / oranges. His system components are the same as several of his competitors and he was almost $15k less expensive. I found that he explained the tax credits very well, and appreciate that if one wants to finance their system, Ross only uses an organization that charges no dealer fees. Another company that came to present to us tried to sell me on “a great rate” for financing and when I told him I would not pay dealer fees, he visibly got nervous and smirked and asked how I knew what those were. Needless to say we asked that guy to leave. Ross set our expectations very realistically considering we were installing the system in the dead of summer. He explained net metering in Florida very well with visuals to help drive the concept home. When we agreed to do business after I had interviewed other companies, another point of discussion was the fact that we have trees that shade our south roof facade. The trees are mature and beautiful and healthy, and they also don’t belong to us. So, there’s only so much we could do even if we wanted to. I got two tree trimming quotes and decided to take what they would have charged for that and buy more panels instead. In my research I discovered that even if the installer uses Enphase, they don’t always install ancillary parts of the systems and/or turn on all the options in the app, so you can’t see consumption vs production. Ross does. I geek out every day now looking at the data and knowing we are no longer slaves to Duke Energy and our thermostat. Ross remained communicative throughout the process. His installers have been with him for years. They were personable and professional when they were at our home. Celeste, his right hand office manager gal, is friendly and always quick to respond. I live local to his business HQ, so I’m also aware of several large commercial projects they did in the next town over. If you speak with him for an estimate, he will surely make the same confident claims about his business that he did with us. I can now say he lived up to all of them. That’s a rarity these days, so I give him credit for that and he deserves a great review.

Daniel was great to work with because there was no hard sell and it was clear those guys know what they're doing very well. I had another quote from a different company that was way higher and they were all focused on trying to tell me how much the monthly payment would be but it was going to be a lot more money for a lot fewer panels. So solar tech elec did a great job on the installation and service and pricing is also super good. Anyone looking for solar panels should definitely give these guys a call.

Professional Install

About a year ago I contacted several solar companies to get an idea of pricing for a solar system for our new house being built in Ocala. Solar Tech Elec LLC had the lowest pricing. After moving in and getting several weeks of electrical usage data, I requested updated quotes and Solar Tech again had the best price plus reviews from other consumers indicated this firm was reliable and professional. Ross and his team handled all the permitting and fees. The 20 panel system was installed in less than a day and they left the site spotless. Ross always was available to answer any questions I had. I would recommend Ross and Solar Tect Elec without reservation. We’re generating 34 kw/hr on a good sunny December day.

After noticing increasing electricity bill I called Solar Tech Elec as my neighbor is happily satisfied with them for over 3 years and he recommended the company. Mr. Ross Dyson was very nice to work with from the first visit.He evaluated my needs and explained the system as well as the installation process. He designed a system at an affordable price and stated working on it right away. They designed the system as well as got the necessary permit and installed the system in one day as soon as the permit was available. The system is nice and there are no wires or tubes running on the roof and it did not affect the appearance of the house. The meter swap was also coordinated by them and done smoothly. I was kept informed of the progress at all stages as majority ok of work except installation was done while I was away. I did not any significant time in calling the Utility or the City office as this was all done by Solar Tech Elec. Good experience!

I just got my 51 panel system installed by Solar Tech Elec a few months ago. Overall, I’m happy with the system and it’s producing pretty well. We had a few delays and hiccups during install like a few failed inspections and a leak, but Ross addressed and fixed those things and made it right. The system seems to be generating what was promised and my last July bill was completely zero’d out. I was really nervous about going solar, but I’m glad we did. I’ll save a little money throughout the year on solar now, but every year that passes I will save more and more as E-bills grow. The big savings are really down the road 5-10 years when the power bill will undoubtedly be much higher and my loan bill stays level.
