On Time, on Budget, & Works Like a Charm

SES was the only company to I interviewed that told me exactly what would go where, from the routing for the conduit, placement of the panel and inverter. They came when they said they would and installed. Shortly thereafter they came when the county inspector came out, so I did not have to do anything. Then PEPCO came and switched meters and I was good to go. I never had any thing to clean up or do. I also get to watch my solar output on a real time basis and can see my net consumption/generation on line. SES gave me the papers for the tax deduction and helped me sell my renewable energy credits. Erin who coordinates everything does a great job and can answer any question quickly. I highly recommend SES.

Trouble Free Install - Met all Expectations

We recently installed a 8.5 kW ground mount PV system at our home in Millersville. We selected Solar Energy Services based on price, quality of equipment quoted and experience with the industry. We got our system, made of American sourced components (mainly the panel) for a very competitive price (about 40% less than the other bidder I was considering, who lowered their price but by then was out of the bidding due to dishonesty in pricing). The install went fairly quickly, the longest lead time was for the Anne Arundel County permits. Once the permits were granted (about 5 weeks) it took only 2 weeks to install, start to finish. The solar energy services install team was professional, and kept disruption to a minimum. Solar Energy Services worked on the site four days per week for both weeks (though not always all day). The system was easily approved by the Anne Arundel County inspectors and interconnection by BGE took about two weeks to approve. All in all, 10 weeks from start to finish. The system works as promised, generating around 40 kW-hrs per day on a sunny day, and around 10 on a very cloudy day. It replaces about 90% of our typical usage. Solar energy services really distinguished itself in making the application process for the various government programs trouble free. I literally only had to sign where they said to sign, add some detail to a website and they took care of everything else. All the incentives have now been approved (including the county tax abatement, the state grant and our SREC sale through sol systems). They provided the necessary documentation for the federal tax credit as well. All in all, probably the most trouble free remodeling project I've gone through, period. Highly recommended.

Solar Pool heater - Ellicott City, MD

We encountered a lot of obstacles when we were having our pool built. BUT our experience with the folks at Solar Energy Services was not one of them. They were very professional and courteous from sales to installation. We later found that we needed some support months after the systen was installed and they were just as responsive as they had previously been. I would highly recommend them and if we have the chance to expand our solar usuage - we will most certainly call them again!

Good company

I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and seamless the entire process was to have my SWH installed.. SES was a great to work with, their communication was excellent and thou there was a hiccup they made it right!! The installers did a great job they were friendly and respectfully of my home. I look forward to SES doing my PV next year.

Solar heating for the pool

After talking over, researching and interviewing several installers of solar panels for swimming pool heating we settled on "Solar Energy Services". Their consultant, Rich Schroeher was friendly, knowledgeable and willing to work with our schedule. Not only that, but the bid he submitted was very competitive with that of the other two firms that we had invited to bid. Construction took place quickly and was performed professionally. All within our budget and time schedule. I would use SES again, without a doubt.

Solar PV and Solar Hot Water

SES installed a solar hot water system in 2009 and then a PV system in 2010. These are two of the best investments I've ever made. The experience has been tremendous. Very trustworthy company. Local owners have been around a long time and plan to be around to service all their systems in the future.

Solar Hot Water Panel Removal for New Roof - A+++++

This past winter did a number to my roof and I need to get a new one installed. So I contact the original installer of my Solar Hot Water System. They quoted me $2500+ to remove the three panel system and reinstall it. I was shocked by the high price. So I called around and contacted Solar Energy Services. They were very professional and said they could do it. They worked with my schedule and roofers to remove and reinstall the panels at a cost of less than $1000. That is way lower by 60% from my original installers. WOW is all I can say! If you need Solar PV or Hot water install or service - look no further than Solar Energy Services INC. I am a customer for life.

Great Job all around

The PV system that Solar Energy Services installed for us in 2012 did such a great job by saving us about $1100 the first year that in May of 2013 we had them install a hot water system as well. As a result, last summer I used zero electricity from BGE between May and October, and that's with air conditioning going all summer. We couldn't be happier with the systems.The company was great to work with and did a great job installing both the PV and the Hot water. So when it was time to get a new car, we got an all electric Nissan Leaf, which I essentially pay nothing to run since the solar provides me power even in the winter.

Solar Energy Services, Inc. took the time to understand what my goals were for wanting to install a solar hot water system. After understanding my goals, they recommended a system design that would meet those needs. They also discussed the pros and cons of various system types available, educating me along the way. Costs to install, operate, and maintain were discussed up front and an accurate expectation of system performance was communicated. The system is made up of very high quality components sourced from companies with long commercial history. I have no doubt this system will be very durable and also be supportable for a long time. Each site has its own installation challenges and they also took the time to explain what those were for my site and how they would deal with each one. The system installation was started and completed early. The install crew was clean and careful of the house and property and arrived on time each day. The system works well and the installation is very neat. I would highly recommend SES. The incentive programs are `payback` in nature and in some cases approval is not certain. This greatly increases the difficulty in paying for an install, as all the funds are required up front. The unintended effect of this is limited access to low income households where decreased utility costs would be beneficial and have a positive payoff. Use of SRECs for solar hot water would help to alleviate this barrier and also provide greater incentive for installation of systems that provide high payback. Solar thermal makes much more sense to install rather than PV for most households.

My husband and I are happy with our solar systems. We are very glad we chose Solar Energy Services. We are comfortable knowing we can call them anytime with our questions and concerns. -Laura Bellcase

There was an insuarance company payment which neccessitated the full amount payment.

The system does exactly what it is supposed to. Rick Peters and Solar Energy Services were beyond professional. We`ve already generated enough hot water to cover approximately 10% of the cost of the system in the first month! I would highly recommend this system to anyone wanting to lock in their hot water costs for the next 25-30 years.

The final inspection of our solar hot water system was conducted today. Like us, the county inspector was impressed with the quality of the materials used and the quality of the installation. We have a one-year no-cost loan covering our cost outlays for this system. We are hopeful that we will receive our tax and grant incentives prior to the end of that loan period.
