Extremely disappointed with Renu Solar and its customer service We purchased our solar system from Renu Solar in 2020 for approximately $40,000, and we paid the system off this year. The system had been working well until the inverter stopped working more than a month ago. Since then, our electric bill has nearly tripled. We immediately contacted Renu Solar and were told that it would take approximately a week to obtain a replacement inverter, after which service would be scheduled. Three weeks passed with no update. We finally contacted Sun Service, the company Renu contracts with to handle these repairs. We were told that the replacement inverter had not yet arrived. Because we were getting nowhere, I asked to speak with a manager. When the manager finally returned my call, I was told that, amazingly, the replacement part had suddenly arrived at their office. However, I was then told that they could not schedule the repair until their service team had other repairs in our area. Another week has now passed. I also contacted Renu’s corporate office directly, yet the only communication we have received is a text message saying that we are still not scheduled. This is extremely disappointing. We spent a lot on this solar system, have now paid it off, and reasonably expect the company to stand behind the system and provide timely service when a major component fails. Instead we have a non functioning system and are being held hostage by a contracted repair company Sum Service - Renu needs to do better. Renu Solar promotes itself as a solar company that has remained in business while other solar companies have closed. Staying in business is not enough, though. Customers also deserve responsive communication and reasonable service when something goes wrong. More than a month without a functioning inverter, with our electric bill nearly tripling, and still no scheduled repair is unacceptable to us. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Renu Solar

Frustrating experience with a lack of follow through

Communicating with Renu is exceptionally challenging. Every employee I interacted with aside from sales was difficult to contact and didn’t follow up. The design of my solar installation went poorly. I raised issues. They ignored them. My system was undersized because they took poor measurements. They promised to help correct it, but they have failed to do so after 8 months. Additionally, they pulled me into a payment dispute with one of their subcontractors. That refused to pay them and I have a lien on my home as a result. After months of asking them to resolve it, they haven’t.

My experience has been very disappointing.

I began the process of expanding my solar system nearly a year ago. During that time, I was sold equipment that I did not actually need, which resulted in unnecessary expenses and wasted time. As someone who trusted their expertise, I expected honest recommendations that were in my best interest. The situation became even more frustrating when I needed an additional AC/DC converter to support the new panels I purchased from Renu. I reached out to the company approximately one month ago and have yet to receive a response. Multiple follow-up attempts have gone unanswered. The lack of communication and customer support has been unacceptable. When customers invest thousands of dollars in solar equipment, they deserve timely responses and ongoing support. Instead, I have been left with an incomplete solution and no assistance from the company that sold and installed the system. I chose Renu because I expected professionalism and expertise. Unfortunately, my experience has been characterized by unnecessary equipment purchases, long delays, and poor customer service. I hope the company improves its communication and customer support so future customers do not experience the same frustrations.

Very satisfied with my solar panel installation by Renu. They delivered what they promised on time. A project manager followed every step of the way to assure things were moving smoothly.

I just completed an installation of a solar/battery system with Renu Energy. I waited to write this review until my system was complete and I have received the 'Permission to Operate' from my Utility so I could comment on the whole process. From start to finish Renu was top notch and consistently met or exceeded expectations. Kevin Sweet, who made the initial sales call was superb. He provided a ton of concrete data and information and was knowledgable and informative. The information that he provided made it easy to decide how to proceed. Most importantly, I can now say that the numbers he provided and the timeline that he laid out has been proven accurate. Ryan Witt, the project manager provided excellent communication and clear timelines and guidance. Any question that I had was readily and rapidly answered. The installation team did a very good job and were professional and courteous. Among the various people at Renu that I have dealt with, I have always had the impression that they were communicating among themselves and were on the same page. I never had one person telling me one thing that was later contradicted by others. A+ for their teamwork. Overall, this is a very solid company to work with. They are installing complex systems - in my case the components come from at least three manufacturers. At the end of the day, It all works together in a compelling way. This team does what they say they will do and they do it professionally and in a time frame that matches what they quote. That is unusual these days. Thank you Renu.

Great Experience with Renew Energy

I recently had solar panels installed through Renew Energy, and so far I’ve been very happy with the experience. The entire process was smooth from start to finish, and the team was professional, responsive, and helpful throughout. Almir took the time to explain the system and answer my questions before I made my decision, which I appreciated. Ryan also did a great job keeping everything organized during the installation process and making sure things stayed on track. Since installation, the system has been running well, and I’ve really enjoyed learning more about how my home uses energy and how solar works throughout the day. It’s definitely been an adjustment learning the best ways to maximize efficiency, but overall I’m glad I made the investment. Awful. Just awful.

If you want salesmen who make promises the company won’t keep, condescending project managers, cost overruns (currently at 33% over original quote, and the project isn't done yet), design errors, and incessant delays (7 months and counting!) then this is the company for you. City inspection was supposed to be today but was canceled, apparently because Renu lost their electrician's license. I can't imagine how *that* happened. Cons: see above. Pros: none. I would not recommend Renu to anyone. Ever. For any reason.

Finally found a reputable solar installer!!

I was stumped finding a reputable Solar installer because of the fraud common in that industry but somehow stumbled upon Renu Energy Solutions and as of a few days ago, my solar system is active with Tesla PowerWall 3. It's amazing! I'm so excited! I start charging with 8 panels when the sun comes up and my battery recharges to 100% by 11AM. The rest of the day with my 31 solar panels, I send back 5,000+ Watt hours back to the grid. 99% of my electricity needs I make myself with the panels. Renu staff and processes were as good as they can be. Sales people are knowledgeable, project managers are great and keep customers in formed and the technical installers did excellent work on the install. Most worry about holes in the roof but they use proven methods to attach the panels with equipment that itself seals the necessary holes into the shingles plus they insure against water damage. My next step is to ensure I only use all major items during sunlit hours so they're solar powered. I allocated a handful of items to be powered by the back up battery like the refrigerator, lighting garage door and the first floor HVAC so I'm covered during grid power outages at night. My install maxed out at just above $40K, minus the tax incentives it came to under $30K. Those incentives got canceled by this toxic administration but they'll be gone soon and incentives will return but indeed, the return on investment is well worth the cost.

Trustworthy Solar Company

We worked with Renu through a partnership with our town. We have a very old house with complicated roof lines and byzantine wiring. Renu was careful, thorough, and provided excellent service and clear, timely communications throughout the process. Their set up instructions were especially good, customized with photos of our house. We are grateful for their expertise and service and recommend them.

Renu was one of the most professional companies I have worked with. They kept me informed througho the whole process and did all the leg work with the City and HMO. Their installation team was very professional, and cleaned up after themselves. I would highly recommend Renu.

Buyer beware - Contract not Fulfilled

My first year solar production was 57% less than contracted rates. I received 43% of what I paid nearly $40,000 for. I have a contract that states my solar would produce 9602kWh (after change order) for a system that was installed and turned on in October 2024. In July, we knew we were never going to meet that number and something was wrong with the system. We attempted to call several times before I finally emailed multiple leaders at Renu Energy Solutions asking for help on 7/23. What I got was a response from Ariel proving my system was under production and constant disregard of my requests to have someone fix it. We are now 3 months into asking for help and not a single person from Renu has agreed to fix the solar, step foot on my property to look at the solar, or even speak with me on the phone. I believe they have no intent on delivering the production values they quote and use their “we’ll pay your Duke bills” guarantee to profit on over charging for an outcome they don’t intend to deliver on.This was my experience, which may be a one-off or a change in how the company is run. I can’t speak to that, but I can speak to what is currently happening to my household as we speak.

Since we already had solar panels in place , our main priority was battery backup storage. Renu's planners came to our home and gave us the information needed. We proceeded to go forward with this project and had a Franklin battery installed. All necessary permits were handled by Renu and their office kept us apprised of the progress relating to the final installation and any other documents regarding the backup battery. We are thrilled to now have a backup system in place in case of any emergency or power outage. The entire Renu team members were very professional and straightforward. Battery installation was smooth and the installers answered all of our questions. No regrets!

Had the system installed complete with a Tesla power wall and has significantly lowered my utility bills. The company was easy to deal with and followed through on on time lines and promises. Highly recommend them.

Great to work with

The entire Renu team has been amazing to work with. I originally had the install 17 solar panels, I later added a Tesla powerwall and I am now working with them to add additional panels and another power wall. They have very competitive prices and their overall instal quality is excellent. Additionally they are there to support you if you have any issues

Will not replace the LEMON battery system that they recommended

After 4 months of dutifully coming out to check the batteries (Home 8 ESS by LG), perform multiple fixes and patchwork repairs, the batteries still perform erratically. The fixes either don’t last or don’t work at all. All I get from them and LG is “we don’t see any problems from our remote computer monitoring” They did a great job on the solar panel installation, but the ESS has been a nightmare that has me constantly stressed out. LG took forever to recall and replace a prior model ESS— but only after a bunch of them burned up, so I’m pretty worried they’re going to ignore me over this system too, and Renu backs up whatever LG says. I want Renu to have MY back, and tell LG to send out a new system…. one that works…. SMH Renu: you highly recommended this system, even convinced me to go with it instead of Powerwall— so now back up your words with a Home 8 system that actually works like it should!!!!

NO SOLICITING

This company sent their door knockin' salesmen to my neighborhood and they knocked on multiple peoples doors with no soliciting and no trespassing signs including me. I already have solar panels which the salesmen saw because he mentioned it so why are you even bothering me? NO SOLICITING MEANS NO SOLICITING. Also, the salesmen barely even knew anything about the current solar program with dominion (our energy provider). why are they hiring people that know nothing about what they're selling and obviously can't even read signs printed in english

Easy, seamless, and worked better than guaranteed!

An excellent, beginning to end experience with Renu Energy helping us consider, design, install, and trouble-shoot our home solar and battery solution. Every part of the entire process was extremely smooth, professional, and easy, including their bending over backwards to troubleshoot why one particular part of the installed system (one of the two batteries) didn't initially work. The designer patiently walked us through multiple sets of estimates and design proposals for all kinds of tradeoffs in terms of system size vs cost. They never pressured us to buy anything extra, but instead let us understand what every choice we could get added (and cost). The initial site inspection was simple and easy. They took care of the permitting, utility connection, and city inspection process seamlessly - all we had to do was sign stuff and let people in the house. The installation team was fast, polite, on time, cleaned up after themselves, and were careful with our home. When one of the two batteries didn't initially talk with the system, Renu coordinated successive series of Renu (and manufacturer) technical teams to come by and debug the system, ultimately coordinating a complete warranty replacement of the battery stacks. The system has worked flawlessly (including in blackouts) ever since, exactly as advertised. And after a full year, the system has produced nearly 30% more power than their guaranteed estimate and operated seamlessly through the Hurricane Helene blackout, allowing us to keep not just our house freezers and refrigerators going, but our neighbors', too. Overall, it was as easy and simple a process for a massive technical home improvement process as you can possibly imagine. I would absolutely recommend Renu to anyone who wants to install home solar. We picked them because we figured if they were good enough for Charlotte Motor Speedway and New Belgium Brewing, they'd do well for us and they did. Thanks, Renu!

Great job start to finish

They did a great job start to finish. Their bid was the most comprehensive and the lowest price. They took care of all the permits and started the install on schedule as promised. The installation was quick and they answered all my questions

Renu Energy solar with battery backup

Renu made the process of getting solar with battery backup so quick and easy. And with the rebate I got from Duke Energy ($9000), plus the refund I'll get on my taxes (probably close to another $9000), and the $53 credit on my bill every month from Duke for the PowerPair program, going solar was a no-brainer. The people at Renu were so friendly and easy to work with. I highly recommend.

I had my system installed in 2018 by Renu. The installation process went smoothly, though I missed out on some of the expected rebate from Duke Energy due to the specific equipment that was selected. My experience of customer service after installation has been extremely poor. I have encountered bounced emails, unreturned voicemails, and a lack of follow-ups. I had an inverter failure under warranty and had to handle the warranty claim myself because I could not get a response from Renu. I have not had system monitoring now for several years because Renu has not updated the monitoring information and I can not restore monitoring myself since Renu is the administrator of my system.

Great battery installation

Great experience installing Enphase 5P solar batteries to my existing system. Excellent information, thorough permitting process, quick installation and communication. Went over and above keeping me in the loop throughout the entire process. Very professional.

Renu Energy did an amazing job installing solar panels, quick and quality work. Price is the best in space, and I did my research and out of all the quotes, like 10+. they beat everyone out. Moved quickly and went through all the processes and approvals fast, taking less than 4-weeks for the whole thing to be wrapped up and done! Highly recommend if you want a solid company with the best team to do your solar panel project.
