Customer beware
In 2006, I decided to install a new roof from a licensed, reputable roofing contractor. We never had any issues with the roof until the solar system was installed by Progressive Energy Solutions in 2010. In 2011, I started having leaks in the roof where the solar panels were installed. I contacted Progressive and they came out to review the issue. They stated they discovered the issue was a flashing that was not sealed properly and that they had fixed it. I proceeded to fix the interior ceiling and repaint at my own expense after the next rain did not cause any issue. Unfortunately, the roof continued to leak where the rails for the solar system were installed. In the middle of a big rain storm my son had to go onto the roof and install a water diversion system to make the water flow to the sides of the roof and not down as water was really coming in the house. Progressive came back out and basically told me it was not their problem that it was the roof. Since we have minimal rain in our area and the water was being diverted this went on for a long period. In 2020, I opted to permanently fix our roof by removing and reinstalling the solar system. I went with Progressive to help resolve the finger pointing between the solar company and roofing company regarding future issues. On February 16, 2021, Progressive removed the roof and discovered seven fist-sized holes in the plywood sheeting that aligned with where the solar panel rails were installed. When I asked the Progressive subcontractors how the holes formed, they told me that it was a bad installation of the solar system. The original installing contractor (Progressive) missed the joist when installing the rails, and improper flashings and feet (the ones on my asphalt shingled roof were to be used on tiled roofs only) were used in the original installation. On February 22, 2021, Progressive requested full payment, which I postponed to attempt to have my questions and concerns addressed. On February 26, 2021, I sent Progressive an email explaining my concerns and investigative findings after I spoke to the other contractors that bid the project to ask their opinion and I met with the original roofing contractor. I offered to pay 25% of the contract and was open to negotiating as I felt the company was responsible for the cause of this situation, but received no response. On March 18, 2021, I received a letter from an attorney that my account had been turned over to collections. I was shocked and upset as Progressive never even spoke to me or sent me an invoice or demand letter after I laid out my case in the email and made the offer to pay a portion. Please beware when using this company. Not only did they not do our installation properly but they refuse to take any responsibility. I was willing to pay for the new roof to put this behind me but after seeing the holes in the sheeting and hearing that the problem was the original install I could not make myself pay the full amount. WORST CONTRACTOR EVER! STAY AWAY!!!!
Had solar and roof done and have had nothing but unfulfilled promises, lies and deception. Been 3 months and still waiting for job to be completed. Workers are all inexperienced and do shoddiest job just to get by. Paid enough to get them to turn on solar, but then signed my up for wrong billing plan, monthly instead of yearly. Currently in mediation with CSLB and hope to get this resolved. The positive reviews are obviously fake. DRH is owners initials!
