Negligent post installation service

Everything from system design and installation went very smoothly and my system was turned on in early November 2025. Since then I have an error telling me “There is an issue with your Gateway meter measurements. Please contact your maintainer for help.” I have contacted PlugPV, they’ve twice sent a technician who said the system is operating as it should, yet the error persists. According to Jared in accounting (who calls me for the remaining balance I owe) a work order is open on my case, yet no one contacts me to resolve the issues. The production numbers in the app don’t make sense, often telling me I am 0% energy dependent while producing more energy than I consume. In the ‘live’ status on the app it shows that what I am producing PLUS what I am consuming is being exported to the grid. Previously this live status SUBTRACTED what I was consuming from what I was producing. None of it makes sense and PlugPV seems uninterested at best at resolving the issues. In all, sales and installation were great. Maintenance not so much. 2 Stars. 8/24/2026 EDIT: Changing to 1 Star. I paid over $50,000 to PlugPV to install a solar system in November 2025, and the post-installation service has been extremely frustrating. In less than a year of production, the system has suffered continuous issues: recurring inverter failure, communication dropouts, and low solar production. While technical glitches can happen, PlugPV’s response times make the situation far worse: 2+ Week Service Delays: Every time an issue comes up, it takes them at least two weeks to schedule a technician to come out and inspect it. Misleading "Local" Claim: PlugPV markets itself as a local company, yet customer service repeatedly tells me it will take two weeks because they don't have a technician in my area. Financial Loss: Because the system is constantly experiencing downtime or underperforming, I am forced to pull electricity from the grid for weeks at a time while waiting for service—costing me real money on top of a $50k+ investment. A system under a year old shouldn't have this much downtime, and a company claiming to be local shouldn't take two weeks to dispatch service. PlugPV needs to step up its field support and service response times for its clients. 8/31/2026 EDIT (wish I could change to ZERO stars): After the technician left on 8/24/2026 I had to wait 48 hours for the system to begin 'reporting' again. On 8/26/2026 a different error has come up and I'm getting texts and email saying the system in underproducing. Wait another week for a technician to 'be in my area' and he just advised that there is a wiring issue and he needs more time to diagnose and correct but he needs to get to another site so he can't finish today and I need to be rescheduled! WTF?! I basically I have 36 bricked panels on my house at this point.

Had my system installed in July/August 2025. It was not able to bank a lot of energy to get me through the winter. So my electric bills were more than I expected on top of the loan they took out to cover the solar panels. Plug PV did help me with those extra bills. They also took out an additional loan to cover the rest of the financing I needed to cover all the panels. I was told that with My tax rebate I would be getting a check to cover that second loan. That has not happened. You do not get a tax rebate you get a tax credit. So I was not getting a check to pay for that second loan. As soon as I was told about this after doing my taxes, I started to call my advisor and his boss, but they would not call me back. This was mid April. I have been calling them along with the office every other week and I finally was able to talk to the vice president of sales. He is telling me that because my advisor Rich did not specifically say tax refund in a text or email they basically are not going to do anything. He wants me to redo my taxes to see what happens. I continue to tell him that it is only a credit and if my tax liability is less than the credit I would get. I will not get a check. He has now stopped communicating with me. So now I I’m expected to pay double of what I had agreed upon when signing the contracts. I will be calling the Better Business Bureau after I am done leaving this review. They were great in the very beginning, but once all the installation is done, they could care less. They got their money from the Finance companies and that’s all they cared about.

Ripoff, dishonest salesman

This company’s salesman assured me I would literally get 30 percent of the cost of the system refunded by the feds. I asked him several times because usually incentives for energy efficiency come in the form of deductions. I’m sure I must have googled this but for some reason didn’t get the information. Well, guess what? He lied. Straight up lied. I do get a deduction going forward but in the meantime I’m paying interest on an overpriced system that doesn’t produce enough power to justify the cost. And the installers punched a hole in the upstairs ceiling. Do not use this company!

PlugPV will not take accountability

I had a very frustrating experience with PlugPV regarding an issue with squirrels nesting under my solar panels. At their recommendation, a critter guard was installed to prevent this problem. However, the squirrels continued to return and nest under the panels. To their credit, PlugPV did come out multiple times to remove the nests, but the problem was never resolved. I was then told by PlugPV that I would need to hire an exterminator, shifting the responsibility to me. Concerned that something wasn’t right, I contacted the manufacturer of the critter guard, who informed me that the wrong size guard had been installed. When I raised this with PlugPV, Kyle (manager) responded that I would still need to pay for an exterminator because they “don’t remove pests”, despite the fact that they had already done so several times, despite the issue stemming from their improper installation. Additionally, PlugPV advised me to remove two arborvitaes in front of my home, stating that squirrels were using them to access the roof. I paid to have those trees removed and replaced with new (smaller) ones. Unfortunately, the squirrels have now destroyed those new trees, using the branches for nesting material. Overall, PlugPV has continued to avoid taking responsibility for an issue created by their incorrect installation.

Produces no where near estimates, and failed inspections

Have an installed system that is generating maybe 60% of what PlugPV projected. They also failed multiple inspections and failed to show up for an inspection before the end of 2025, costing us thousands in tax credits. And now the system barely functions. Work with ANY OTHER SOLAR COMPANY INSTEAD!!!

Solar panels and Powerwall batteries

Very poor experience from start. First salesman promised to pay $3600 tree removal costs we got back $1500. He told us payments were 50% on install 50% on service start (was 80/20). Told us no loss of power on install - lost for under 1 hour. System production is measured in DC but power companies measure in AC. He didn’t know about overall process or when application went to power company ConEd for approval. Only good part of process was installation- Matt/team were excellent and did whole job in day working until late at night. Permit process useless - we had to call town to arrange inspections and get approval for permits closed. The system was’t connected to wifi and we have issues now with internet. The Tesla PW3 batteries were never registered and we were told to call Tesla and we still don’t know if the batteries are working properly. We get Enphase reports for panels only but again not connected to WiFi so updates only every 6 hours. Nobody talks or communicates to each other at Plug especially salesman who never knows what’s going on or asks. Whole process has taken 7 months so far and we still have no clear resolution or understanding if our system works properly. Utter mess

PlugPV - AWFUL COMPANY - DO NOT GO WITH THEM!

Subject: Formal Complaint and Request for Resolution – Incomplete & Mishandled Project I am writing to formally document a series of serious issues with my installation and to request that this project be brought to a proper and complete resolution. 1. Failure to Coordinate Utility Marking Your team failed to initiate the required call to have underground utilities marked. This oversight was discovered only two days before the scheduled installation, forcing a postponement of more than six weeks during peak production season. This delay was entirely avoidable and occurred through no fault of my own causing me financial loss. 2. Roof Measurement Errors and Unprofessional Conduct Your company mismeasured our roof, resulting in two unnecessary panels. Those panels were installed flat on an adjacent roof. We requested their removal, as this was not an acceptable long-term solution for our home. While the installer was initially professional, his behavior later changed dramatically. Behind my wife’s back, he became verbally abusive, aggressively swearing about our request. This behavior was unacceptable, unprofessional, and completely unwarranted. The removal of the incorrectly installed panels caused another six-week delay in system approval—again during prime production months—resulting in direct loss to us. 3. Post-Payment Support Breakdown & Missing CT Monitoring Once payment was complete, meaningful support effectively ceased. When attempting to set up the monitoring app, I discovered that my system lacks CT (Current Transformer) monitoring, meaning I cannot see usage, grid export, or net consumption—only production. This was never disclosed as optional or excluded. In fact, your sales representative explicitly stated that CTs were part of the system when feasible. Your customer service says I would needed to have signed a waiver to exclude them which I did not. Multiple internal explanations have since been given: I was told trenching exceeded 1,400 feet (demonstrably false; it is under 200 feet). Then I was told 200 feet was the cutoff. Then 100 feet. My contract shows I paid for 166 feet of trenching, well within the initial threshold mentioned. Despite repeated inquiries: No one can explain why CTs were not installed The lead project manager cannot provide an answer Internal staff have suggested the omission may have been due to convenience rather than feasibility This lack of clarity, consistency, and accountability is deeply concerning. Conclusion Given the delays, errors, unprofessional conduct, and missing system functionality, I consider this project incomplete. A reputable company would take ownership of these failures and work to make the customer whole. To date, that has not happened. I am requesting: A clear explanation for the absence of CT monitoring, not one based on how to get out of it Installation of CTs if technically feasible (as represented during the sale) Acknowledgment of the delays and errors caused by your team A path forward to resolve this matter without escalation I would prefer to resolve this directly and professionally. However, if these issues remain unaddressed, I will have no choice but to pursue further remedies. I look forward to your prompt response.

Botched Installation - Must Remove and Reinstall ALL Panels

PlugPV completely botched our solar panel installation. As of now, I have solar panels installed that are not active, and that need to be removed and reinstalled before the town will approve the installation. This will likely cause delays that will cause me to lose the solar tax credit, completely, as a result of Palmetto/PlugPV's incompetence. PlugPV /Palmetto failed to follow the steps in the building permit process. I was not even contacted by PlugPV/ Palmetto about this, but I had to contact the town inspector myself to find out about the situation. PlugPV /Palmetto was aware of the problem a week ago but failed to notify me.

Have to sue them

Plugpv refuses to fix holes in roof from poor installation, the install missed the studs and when it rains, the roof leaks. Two techs from Plugpv admit the mistake but are unable to plug holes and walked away from the issue. The install crew also damaged the roof all around the panels, reducing the roof life from 10-15 years to 1-2 years. They trampled around the panels so hard that you can see worn paths on the shingles. So in addition to a roof that now leaks, we need the entire roof to be replaced. We got a bad crew for the install. They left trash everywhere and clearly damaged the roof in several ways. In addition to two PlugPV techs who admit it is a faulty install, we've had 3 roofers confirm the leaks and roof damage are clearly from the solar install. Despite the overwhelming fault, Plugpv sent us to their insurance who won't cover roof damage, which is incredible given that Plugpv directly damages the roof. As a result, were left with nearly $40,000 in repairs Plugpv will not pay for. We have retained counsel and are forced to sue Plugpv to hold them.accountable. We chose PlugPv based on the reviews, which at the time we're very positive. Our experience was nothing close to positive - dealing with this company has been a two year nightmare.

Buyer beware

They pulled a bait and switch with the price. They tell you a great price cheaper then your current electric bill, but what they don’t tell you upfront is that within the 1st 15 months you have to pay an additional 12k or your bill goes up by $100 a month for the life of the loan. That will be more than I was paying for electric. I’m now losing money. They bury that in the fine print of the contract. Very unethical

Terrible company

If there was an option for no stars that’s what I would give. Yay for solar but steer clear of this company for sure if you value your home and like it intact and undamaged. The sales guy was sweet as pie, every thing seemed seamless. He was overly helpful and accommodating. When the stuff hit the fan he went MIA. The customer service leaves more than a lot to be desired. First year the solar was on my house I had no idea how much I made vs how much I banked vs how much I used as the app never worked despite multiple texts, phone calls and emails not only to my sales rep but the service department as well. Now let’s move on to the fact that the roofer they hired was less than professional, roamed around my property complaining to me about all the plywood he needed to use and I found nails and other debris in my yard all summer. Fast forward 6 months when the mold started growing in my walls from the poor workmanship and leaking roof which was documented by 3 different professionals who came to assess the damage but vehemently denied by Plug PV. They had had to have their guys come to my home twice before they acknowledged there even was a leak and at that only did because I had a reputable roofer here to show them damage they could not deny. And that they still refuse to take responsibility for anything. Their management team bold faced lied to me, threw the roofer they hired under the bus (later discovered he wasn’t even a real roofer) and are trying to punt all the costs for repairs back to me although they GC the entire project. They are sneaky and underhanded. No integrity at all with this company. Run and run fast.

Inadequate Customer Service

Bottom Line Up Front, Buy Solar Panels from another company that can sell, install, and service the system when something goes wrong. PlugPV's customer service fell very short of their customer's expectations when relating to servicing a system malfunction. Multiple no-shows and no callbacks (or late callbacks) require me to call back for the appropriate service to my system, then remind them numerous times who I am and why I need them. PlugPV does not care if their customers pay for the panels and an electric bill or act urgently to get a technician to their house and make it right. Their focus is sell and install not fostering customer relationships. In April 2023, we received a bill ($40) for electricity – no big deal. It happens once a year, then our credits catch up, and we owe nothing. In May 2023, we received another bill ($120) for electricity – something had to be wrong; Monday, I went to call PlugPV, and they called me something was wrong with the system and that they would send someone out to fix it. On 5 June 2023, we spoke and could not get to our house for three weeks; a 28 June appointment is scheduled. 28 June 2023, no one shows, no one calls. 30 June 2023, I called their customer service, and PlugPV said they did not have the right part, so they did not come. I understand that; no need to waste everyone's time, but not calling to tell their customer to tell them, this is very off. They said they couldn't be back for another three weeks; AGAIN, three more weeks in peak production time, and PlugPV puts me off again. I ask them to schedule me immediately, and I want to speak with their manager. In July 2023, we received another bill ($220) for electricity – I have been monitoring the system now, and we are not and have not been producing enough electricity to cover our electric bill (since April). 5 July 2023, I speak to A.J., the customer service manager; he can have someone at the house on Friday; excellent, now we are getting somewhere. 7 July 2023, the PlugPV technician comes as scheduled and runs the line to get back up the monitoring; while running diagnostics, there are other error codes. Someone will call tomorrow to get me a follow-up appointment. 17 July 2023, No callback, no appointment; I call back and talk to someone, speak to another customer service representative who says I have an appointment on 31 July 2023. No one ever told me; I called to see what PlugPV offers under warranty due to the system being down for so long (April partial month through now July); if the system produces, they may reimburse, give or take 10%, ok hopefully, we can make this right (wrong). 24 July 2023, Speak to A.J., who has no idea who I am; they will get someone out there on 31 July 2023, and he asked me to send him all my bills to see what the under-production looks like. 26 July 2023, I send him all the electric bills and a spreadsheet that shows a 6720 kWh deficit from last year to this year. 31 July 2023, No one shows, no one calls, and no response to the email I sent them. On 1 August 2023, I called A.J. back; he still did not know who I was; he would try and get someone there asap, and he did; later that day, they got a technician there and replaced the faulty part. He also says he will get to the email I sent and have a response by the end of the day or tomorrow. 2 August 2023, no information back on the email I sent. 3 August 2023, A.J. responds and says since my system produces well the years before, everything equals out, and there is nothing they will do for me, maybe in July of 2024 if we under produce they could possibly try and make it right. I called A.J. back – four months of the system underproducing, three months of paying both solar loan for the panels and an electric bill ($380, plus this month's bill, maybe some in September), the added stress for two no-calls, no shows, two appointments, a dozen calls to them, and six weeks of delays due to their ability to get to my house and they brush us off. They have not monitored our system for over a year; it is four years old. When everything goes as it is supposed to, the system works great; however, it is evident that PlugPV’s response to something going wrong is inadequate. I am pretty reasonable; if PlugPV had the system fixed in a week, we would have been happy with everything. If I had felt like a valued customer at any point during this process, I would not be writing this. Solar is worth it; find a different company to do business with.

Run Away

If I could give no stars, I would. Please stay away at all cost if you want to walk away with a home that is not damaged. I was very excited to get solar on my 2-year-old home. It seemed like the logical next step. While the sale team was very nice the customer service is a nightmare in particularly, Gina Kowalski. I can't tell you the number of times I've had to chase this woman down to get an answer or figure out the next steps of what's going on. If that wasn't the worst of it, I had debris left around my home, their workers use my lawn as their personal bathroom, I had a screw damage a tire, I had a roofing nail go through my foot, and they improperly did the panels in a section of my home which led to my roof leaking. They refuse the pay for the cost of fixing the wet ceiling damage, stating it was improper roof installation but the roof was redone on Jan of 23 and it had rained since then. When I called about the issue they had a guy come out and was on the roof for over an hour fixing the panels. Their team lead, AJ Fudge refused to acknowledge their poor craftsmanship and punted the cost back to me. Run away from this company and find someone else or you'll be left paying out of pocket.

Horrible experience

I chose them based on what Brett the salesmen promised me. I signed a contract on 6/82020 and was told to expect install by end of july/early August. Install did not happen for months later. The communication from the superintendent Nick has been abysmal. It is now 12/29 and I still do not have a working solar system even though they demanded payment in full. The last communication I had was when Nick C. Told me if I wanted my system to produce power I should call the electric company myself.
