Our bill has slowly but surely been creeping up from $60 all the way up to $170 a month over the last 15 years, and we haven't been using any more power! We were tired of getting screwed over by SDG&E, so we wanted to go Solar! Our salesperson, Ryan Rodas - was extremely helpful and thorough in finding out exactly how many panels we needed in order to cover what we're using now and what we will be using once we get our electric car in the near future. Kota took amazing care of us and handled every step of the project in a timely and professional manner. We didn't have to lift a finger the entire time, and our system was installed and turned on within 45 days of us signing our contract! We love that we don't have a bill anymore and in fact we're getting credits back now! If you're thinking of going Solar, you won't regret going with Ryan Rodas and Kota Energy Group. You won't find a more helpful and professional team.

Highly recommend Kota for solar installation

We recently had Kota Energy install a 5.2 KW Solar system on our house. We have been impressed with Kota every step of the way. The project completed on time, on budget, and all of the technicians were a pleasure to work with. Our sales person, Ryan Rodas, made the project effortless for us. Not only was he very knowledgeable about Solar in general but he expertly presented our options in a way that made it easy for us to decide on the options. Ryan checked in with us after each step to make sure Kota was meeting and exceeding our expectations. After installation Ryan followup up with us to ensure our system was producing as expected. I would recommend Kota energy to anyone who is considering investing in a new Solar system for their house.

Great Purchase for Us and the Planet

Our system was completed four weeks ago and we are very happy with the whole project. The Ryan Rota our sales person was aggressive but charming. His knowledge of solar and determining our needs was spot on and the price was right. A number of financing packages were offered and we accepted the best fit. The contract turned into a project and the whole Kota organization was professional and personable. Schedule was formalized with the step by step plan shared with us. It was one stop deal, Kota took care of the city permits and SDGE applications. They even took care of the $134 SDGE transfer fee without sharing that info with us. Installation was amazingly fast considering the required effort to install on a 2-story building with a tile roof to an older electrical panel. The crew was careful with the landscaping and the clean up was great. Had a small software glitch in the monitoring software and it was corrected in a timely fashion. The panels and equipment are top of the line as far I can tell. Kota resources in knowledgeable people and assets was another reason to select them with the feeling that they will be here for the long term.

Very Angry with KOTA

We have been wanting solar for awhile now, and finally chose KOTA for its reviews. The sales process went smoothly. We indicated that our roof was tar and gravel, and the representative said that was no problem. They ran our credit, and everything was fine. During the permitting process (which took six weeks), we needed a new roof due to leaks. I reached out to KOTA to tell them that we were getting a new tar and gravel roof - and they said no issue. My roofer indicated that the warranty would be forfeited if we installed solar after the new roof. I reached out to the sales rep and indicated that KOTA would need to install the pegs (or whatever they're called) first. The rep said not to worry - that KOTA would cover the warranty after install. Come the day of installation, the crew said they couldn't install the solar because we had tar and gravel, despite the fact that I CLEARLY INDICATED to the rep that we had tar and gravel. Despite the fact that they dropped the ball, they wouldn't change their policy (the president sounds like an inflexible a-hole). Now we aren't getting our tax incentive this year, they ran our credit, and now we need to find another solar company. KOTA is an incredibly unprofessional disappointment and we regret ever starting to work with them.

Wow! Our experience has been amazing with Chris Muncal!

We loved the customer experience sitting down with Chris Muncal. He was very transparent and very knowledgeable of Solar Ownership. We went through a nightmare with SunRun and Chris was able to answer all of our questions and clear our concerns. The appreciation of the personal contact and continuous personal contact after the consultation has been great. We can’t wait to own our own energy and save lots of money! I highly recommend KOTA Energy Group and Chris Muncal as our Energy Advisor for going green.

Communication is key-Rep Chris Muncal

From the start to finish rep Chris Muncal was always in communications with me on the status of where my solar install was at. He was always responsive and acted quickly on my behalf. When I had some install issues, I immediately reached out to him and he was able to get the issued resolved within 48 hours. He's professional and friendly and willing to go above to make sure this customer was satisfied...and I am! Thanks Chris

Excellent service

We knew we wanted solar and went with Kota Energy group because of the service provided by Joshua Garrett. He was professional and communicative both before and after the "sale". He was our primary point of contact and kept us informed through the entire process. With this kind of investment and physically altering your home, you don't want to cheap out and sign with any installer. We valued the project coordination, expertise, and professionalism of the entire Kota team, especially Joshua G! We are glad we opted for a larger system to accommodate a purchase for an electric vehicle in the next two years. We are now happy solar owners with a new roof, top of the line technology and all the warranties to secure this investment.

My Solar Power Experience with KOTA

Sales Rep, Gerardo, knocked on my door and presented me with KOTA’s solar program. After getting different bids from other companies, KOTA was my primary choice for multiple reasons: warranties, price and customer experience. What stood out to me the most was the speed of installation and the customer attention. Gerardo and my project manager made sure to update me every step of the way. Permitting, city inspection, dealing with PGE - I didn’t have to lift a finger. KOTA took care of it all just as Gerardo had explained to me.

I liked how they would stay in touch keeping you informed of each step. Nathan Rice (813-966-0682), my Sales Rep was very good. I could call him when I had questions and he would respond right away. He was very helpful through this process. The gentlemen installing the equipment were very knowledgeable. There were no real issues that couldn’t be solved quickly and efficiently. I’m now using solar. Wonderful!

Great experience with KOTA

KOTA was a real experience. Working with KOTA for solar panels, with no out of the pocket money was a plus. When I was approached by Nathan Rice who was installing panels on another home on my block, I was impressed by his professionalism. Nathan took time explaining the entire process. Every step of the process, Nathan was here, even when there was a delay with the approval process or changes that had to be made to satisfy city requirements. I really appreciated Nathan’s expertise in explaining even how I can tract my usage on Enphase. This made the whole process worth it.

9/15/22, Our Sales Rep Jake Rodgers has been fantastic, along with Salem and everyone involved in our installation and turn-up. Our system was just activated on schedule. My wife and I are very excited to finally be producing electricity and reducing our electric bill. Very cool to view each panels real time production on the Enphase App. And to watch our PG&E meter going backward!!! :-) Over the years we have checked with several solar companies on product, price and service. These guys are not just some solar brokers they actually do their installs unlike most of the other companies we had met with which are brokers! These guys are local and operate out of Carlsbad definitely a good team and have had a great experience from A-Z!

Great experience with Solar with KOTA

Nathan Rice worked closely with us throughout the entire process and patiently walked us through the legislation, system generation, and other concerns. As a first time solar customer, I was nervous about designing the correct size system, and I was conscious of being fleeced. Luckily, we hit the jackpot with Nathan as our sales rep. He was polite, patient, and empathetic with our concerns. He walked us through everything, including legislation in California that can potentially affect your return. His knowledge gave us confidence in not just getting a solar system for our home, but in KOTA. Nathan’s boss, if you’re ready this, this guy is a winner! If you’re a first time solar customer, I hope you’re lucky enough to get someone like Nathan at KOTA.

Great experience with Jake Cosley

The whole process was very efficient. The price quote they provided was easy to comprehend. My main concern was the price and that the panels are black on black. The cost per solar monthly is 1/2 of my PG&E bill. It took two months for everything to be completed and the system up and running. Everyone who contacted was in contact with me was courteous and on time. I appreciate Jake’s patience with me and taking his time to answer my many question.

When Jake approached my door he was very friendly. I initially wasn’t certain I was going to go solar right away, but after walking through my needs with me, I felt comfortable and reassured to move forward with Jake and with Kota! The installers were hard working and did an awesome job!

Caleb got rid of SunRun lease!

He was very helpful following up with Sunrun and canceling their permits, and contract. It was very difficult without Caleb because I wasn’t getting any response from sunrun. Now instead of a $150 a month that increases 3% annually, I am paying $90 initially, and then if I keep my $6000 tax credit, I will be paying $125 and it will never increase. I’m also happy with the quality of the materials. Call him eight zero two three nine one seven zero zero seven

Do not use KOTA for solar installation

Do not use KOTA for solar! The company does not follow through with what they say they will do unless you constantly hound them. The internal communication and business process is a mess. It seems they have too many projects and their staff is stretched too thin. They tried to process an unauthorized ACH from my checking account for $24k before the installation was complete (breach of contract). They installed a new roof on my house and then damaged it just two weeks later when installing the solar. They were unaware of the roof damaged until I pointed out that I could see sunlight in my attic through the holes in my roof. They also damaged numerous shingles. KOTA is demanding final payment, but they will not provide me with the conditional lien release. There are many, many other items where KOTA misled me during the process (untruthful), provided inadequately trained staff to work on my project (the solar installation PM was fired because of his inadequate mgmt of my project) and damaged my home during the solar installation. I am self-employed. My home is my office and I need to be able to work to bill my clients. I was told 4-5 times that a generator would be provided during the time my power was out which did not happen. I have requested a discount for the lost revenue I have experienced over the past 1.5 months. I was notified that management required payment in full without any consideration. As of yesterday, KOTA remotely disabled my solar system until final payment is made but they will not provide the conditional lien release prior to making the payment. I am in the process of filing a solar complaint with the Contractors State License Board. I hope this will help protect others from experiencing the same situation that I have been dealing with.

Great Experience - Amazing Customer Service

Switching to solar was as easy as we were told. Gerardo, our sales rep, was so awesome to work with! The overall process and quality of service was truly impressive. Everything went by very quickly and Gerardo made sure to update us every step of the way from our design to permits, installation date, city inspection, etc. I would strongly recommendnthis company!

Solar Nightmare, steer clear!

KOTA claim to offer "highest level of installation quality in the industry" "Transparency and communication every step of the way" "staff who care" "reliability you can count on" "always work harder to achieve perfection", all of that was from the mission statement in the contract you signed. The quality of the installation was substandard, the installer didn't care to measure, they kept screwing in studs until they hit a rafter, some studs blown out the side of the rafter, and the studs that missed the rafters they just removed the stud and patched it with silicone. Trash, nails, and electrical equipment were left on the roof. One of the tiles was crack (but was repaired during inspection). When I brought up the poor workmanship and showed the photos to the project manager (Justus Berg), I ask if I could recoup a portion of the installation cost due to the poor workmanship, he promised to make things right and would get back to me. While I wait for the project manager to get back to me in regards to the poor workmanship. I asked when would they install critter guard and paint the conduits, which was promised to me by the salesman and also the installation team and their inspector confirm that they'll have someone take care of it before everything is finalized. When I asked the project manager told me they would paint the conduits only and the critter guards was not a default with KOTA's installation and he refused to authorize them. I was shocked; you would think the project manager would attempt to show some good will by following through with the critter guard. He said, I was either confused or misunderstood the salesman, installation team, and the inspector in regards to critter guards. A week later, I ask the project manager when the conduits will get painted; he then told me they would be happy to paint it if I buy the paint. At this point the project management is being difficult to work with and just vindictive. I gave up; it was impossible dealing with this kind of a human being. A few weeks goes by, I got a call from the project manager, he inform me that they finalized everything and I was going online and will be connected to PG&E. He apologized for the poor quality installation, and now he is willing to install the critter guard and paint the conduit. At that point I already had the critter guard installed and just needed the conduits painted. It was a nightmare dealing with the project manager and this company. I hope others can learn from my mistake and steer clear of this company. If you're brave enough to do business with this company make sure you have everything in writing.

Easy & Simple - I didn’t have to do a thing

Gerardo was amazing to work with! He frequently checked-in to make sure everything was running smoothly and I even got a gift during the installation. My favorite part was that Kota took care of everything - permits, city inspection, working with PG&E, etc.
