Solar and Tesla Power Wall Installation

We just completed installation of our solar panels and Tesla Powerwall. John, our salesman was great and our 5 installers Rhys, Zeik, Jose, Alonso, and Spencer were courteous and professional. They each deserve 5 stars.

A big & somewhat complex project taken on by Independent Power, proving well worth the time, effort & expense! After a very dry and warm winter, and a baby on the way, I knew we needed to climate control our '88 home that had no a/c. Even though we have ducts and a 2 year old furnace, my research showed with all the unique spaces, multi-levels, high ceilings and need for energy efficiency and moving away from gas, that a 5 heat/a/c mini split configuration with 2 heat pumps and a electrical panel upgrade to bring everything to code was the direction we needed & wanted for our home & future. I felt confident in this choice being the "sweet spot" with the help of Cameron (big round of applause!) from start to finish. We received 2-3 comparable bids and took our time to make our choice with Independent Power. Cameron walked by my side as we both continued to learn & evolve through the process of discovering what was best for the health of our home. Thank you for your patience with me! And thank you for coming back and taking feedback & making adjustments so I felt you were proud of the project too. Because they assist you in locating every available rebate local to national, submit all the paperwork, and deduct that from the price you finance or pay for the difference, this project was affordable for a low-mid income (growing) family in Boulder County. Thank you Carley & Hamza for doing this "behind the scenes" work. For anyone on the rebate path I highly recommend you do your own searching as well & contacts with Boulder County are very helpful! We did have a crew of 2 up to 8(?) here several times to install, fine tune the systems, assist with setting up the app & tweak cosmetic looks & a little leak. I write today satisfied and happy with the services received. A marathon began in March, with lots of care all around. Thank you, in particular to Taryn Masen, Dan & Patrick! You all brought your own flavor and gifts to this project to make it something you should all be proud of. Lots of gratitude to you & no offense, I hope I don't see you anytime soon! LOL, except for routine annual maintenance. If you're in the market for heat pumps and doing your part to have a energy efficient home in these wild climate times, this is the way & these are the folks to call. PS a August 2026 update/addition We’ve had to get some minor adjustments done since install and I’ve been very happy with the follow through & communication provided after install. Shout out to Ivan & Thom for addressing an issue with one of the mini splits! Thanks!

We had a very positive experience from start to finish with Independent Power. We had an 11 kW photovoltaic array installed on our roof along with a Powerwall and Powerwall expansion pack to provide 27 kW*hr of power storage. Avery Donovan led a low pressure project scoping to configure the largest photovoltaic array we could sensibly put on our roof while working around multiple features on our roof. The Independent Power bid was the lowest cost bid we received for the project. The project execution was seamless, coordinated and communicated very well by Megan Close from start to finish. The communicated dates of project initiation and closure were achieved. The installation crew of Rhys, Zeik, PJ, Adam, Paul, and David did a great job. They brought in the Powerwalls into our backyard while avoiding damaging the property and did a great job to install the Powerwalls, panels, shutoffs, and electrical wiring in a way that blended seamlessly with our home and existing electrical infrastructure. The solar panels were installed seamlessly and look inconspicuous with the roof. They were conscious of respecting our home while onsite and ensuring that the house was left as they found it. There was one minor mishap during installation with a patio side table that they proactively communicated and remedied. Accidents understandably happen on jobsites, we appreciated their impetus to fix the side table with minimal effort on our end to coordinate. The installation passed City of Boulder inspection the first time without any additional work/rework required. I highly recommend Independent Power. It was a straight forward process of competitive pricing, no project delays, high quality workmanship, and friendly customer service from all their employees. Great job!!

Independent Power installed two Powerwalls on my house in Golden last week and I'm so pleased with their work. Everyone from the salesman, John, to the project manager Megan to the electrician/installers did an excellent job. I especially want to complement David and PJ who spent 9 hours here to get the batteries installed in one day. They both answered all my questions patiently and really demonstrated their knowledge and expertise on Tesla Powerwall technology. I signed the contract with Independent Power on May 19th, and just 6 weeks later, I'm powering my house with my own solar system and am confident that I will be ready for the next Xcel PSPS.

Great from start to finish. Forrest was great informing me of my options with no high pressure sales. He told me of a lot of savings and HEAR rebates and xcel rebates, which I wasn't even aware of. Carley the Project manager was great in dealing with ALL my questions and making sure i had everything submited to get the discounts and rebates. The electrical team led by Jadon with Kael and Marino, answered all my questions, requests, and concerns. They performed clean work and left all areas worked in clean. They took a rats nest of a panel and turned in into a clean good make-up. They upgraded my 150amp service to a 200amp service and brought it up to current code. Patrick with his HVAC team Taryn and Aman really did a great job relocating the new unit to a better location. They also went above and beyond replacing a flexible duct with a hard duct in my mechanical room. Patrick was great in explaining the system and making sure all our questions were answered. I would highly recommend Independent power and their team for any HVAC or panel upgrade needs! I'm waiting on the inspections, but with how everything has gone so far I'm sure its going to go great!

We had Josh and his team out to install outdoor soffit lights and handle some other miscellaneous electrical tasks we have needed for years on our home. We also had Patrick & the HVAC team work on getting our house a lot more comfortable in all temperatures. Everyone we have dealt with has been knowledgeable and beyond courteous throughout the entire install process. We couldn’t believe how easy the team worked together to help each other out and leave our home cleaner than they found it. We look forward to having the Independent Power be our one stop shop as we move forward with a solar expansion, heat pump, attic fan install, basement finish and even more outdoor lighting while we are at it!

A Warm Customer

My original furnace had cracks that was leaking carbon monoxide. So I couldn’t turn it on. Independent Power scheduled me as soon as possible and gave me a wonderful heating system. I am a warm satisfied customer. Everyone, including the team. Who came to install the units was kindly, courteous, even sweet. I was shown how to use the system in great detail and with l with patience. Highly recommend this company to anyone.

Excellent Process

IPS installed solar within the original time frame and estimate provided. Noah and Emily always quickly returned my calls and emails. Always showed up from Bozeman when they said they would to install panels and work on the electrical components. Were quick to process a change order when I switched from 10 to 12 panels. Sean even made a last minute detour to fix a quick issue with my panel to get the Enphase app up and running. Highly recommend them.

Getting the quotes was a breeze as well, Dan was really helpful in configuring my system and the several others that I asked him for to compare price and performance. I interviewed 9 different solar system installers, IPS had the best warranty, highest rated equipment, system produced the most power with the lest panels and the lowest cost. Overall service has been great.

SunPower 9720 KVH System

These guys were very professional and Timely. The installation went flawlessly. There experience shines through in spades. The sunpower panels and hardware are the best hands down. My only negative is the SunPower monitoring software it NOT very detailed and needs a major update.

13 years of fuel-free and hassle-free electricity

IPS installed a 4.5kW SunPower PV system on my roof in late 2006, and it's consistently generated its design specification of an average of 550 kWhr/month since then, every year for the past 13 years, literally maintenance- and incidence-free. After increasing my home's efficiency (mostly by replacing incandescent bulbs with LEDs for 1/10th their power cost), my home now uses sufficiently less electricity to power my electric car, so in addition to satisfying all my electric-power needs for the first ten years with the rooftop array, I'm now actually driving on sunlight too. Though I'm always happy to see IPS employees - they were great to work with during the design and installation of my system 13 years ago - I'm ecstatic I haven't had to call them out to deal with anything associated with my array since then. Mine really has been an install, power-up, and forget experience with their SunPower PV technology. I couldn't possibly be happier.

When the Inspector says IPS should write the book...

I could write a lengthy review simply because the entire experience had many moving parts and IPS showed incredible patience with me! However, I will cut to the chase and say that when the Inspector came, he first asked me who did the installation? When I told him IPS, he said, “Those guys are good... they should write the book!” Nothing like having the guy that gives the thumbs up (or down) his validation to our decision in going with IPS over the other bidders, right?! The confidence I already had in IPS was further solidified by the Inspector’s comment.

Sun power install by IPS

IPS was the most knowledgeable and professional Solar installer I talked to during my selection process. They also provided the most flexibility in customizing the system to fit my homeowner preferences. Having a solar system on your roof and the components on/around your house for many years, I'm glad I was involved in the design/installation process. I believe I could have found an installer that would have had the system installed for cheaper, and I could have found one that would have had the system installed faster -- but ultimately the quality and overall installation was very professionally done. Some details of my installation that maybe I couldn't have achieved with a 'typical' installer. On a portion of my roof that was more visible, I had a more attractive all black Sunpower panel installed. On the other portion I had a high efficiency but slightly less attractive version of panels installed. There was barely any conduit showing on the back of the house, most of it hidden by the panels and also they painted the conduit to match what was behind. I had some electrical upgrades done at the same time, a service upgrade to 200Amp, a few additional exterior outlets, and some customizations that allowed for a few outlets of power during a daytime power outage (due to code restrictions, sometimes grid tied systems produce no usable power during grid outages). Overall, IPS was very professional and great to work with.

13.4 kW Sunpower All-Black 335 Watt Panels

IPS was excellent in educating, designing, instillation, documenting all the required paper work and completing the work. They also gave a very competitive price. I own the system and use the generated power for whole house electricity needs and charging electric car. I highly recommend IPS for any size solar projects.

8 kW SunPower lease

IPS was one of three installers who participated in a competitive bidding process during 2011 on our residential solar photovoltaic system. They eventually came through with an amazing deal on a prepaid lease - less than half the price of a similar lease proposed by another bidder.

Nick Williamson, Natha Espeland, and the entire IPS service team including the installers handled every part of the process thoroughly and promptly. In particular, Nick should be commended for working through a snag with Excel Energy. I am fully satisfied with IPS and love having solar power!

Everyone I interacted with at IPS was great! I would recommend them to anyone I know that was considering a PV system.

Everyone from the company was very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, prompt, and professional. Only thing with the net meter is that the electric company required it be clearly signed. Once I let the solar company know. they took care of it.

Professional and completed work as promised, I would do business again with these folks, great job! Great firm to work with!

The sales, contracts, and installation staff were very professional, helpful, and a pleasure to work with. Contractor charged the net after utility rebates but I did not get the 30% federal credit funds until paying my Quarterly Estimated Tax.

All the members of the team that worked wiht us (sales, install, contracts, etc.) were exceptional!
