Great Experience

After having four companies provide us with quotes and product information we decided to use Hudson Solar and are very happy that we did. The entire process was a terrific experience from first meeting our sales person to the financing and installation. Every step of the process was very well managed and we were always kept in the loop during the entire installation. The men doing the installation were very clean and considerate of our home. Our system is perfect for our electrical use and after a year of having the system we are right on target with our usage. We appreciate that we were able to purchase our system rather than rent it and that we were not oversold on the number of panels that would support our needs. We highly recommend this company to meet all your needs.

There are three main aspects I would mention as a review: the product and it's construction, the installation and the staff. Since I began looking at ground mount systems I've looked at several other systems in my area and I would rate Hudson Solar's the highest. The plan for installation and engineering group was flexible with all my requirements and the completed system is neat and professionally installed. As for the staff, every person from Hudson Solar has been and continues to be professional and more then willing to make the relationship positive. I'm very pleased on all three of these aspects and certainly would recommend their system and service.

If You Care About Quality, Hire Hudson Solar

Hudson Solar takes quality and longevity into account at every step. The components they choose to work with will coast a little more than some others, but it's because they are the best. The price you are spending is likely about as much as a car or kitchen/bath remodel. When choosing options and a contractor/dealer to work with for these purchases do you look for the cheapest components and lowest cost contractor - if so, I've got a pretty good idea what you'll end up with and how likely you are to recommend the work to someone else. The sales proposals and production estimates offered by Hudson are realistic, accurate, and if anything slightly conservative (my system has been up for four years now and is producing exactly what they said it would). They take the extra time to do things right on the job. Our site was randomly inspected by NYSERDA after the system was installed and it received a perfect score. According to information published by the company performing these inspections only 25% of the systems they inspect are considered trouble free (while over 25% have major or critical issues!!). Like almost everything else you purchase, you'll pay a bit more for quality products and services, but often end up paying even more to go the low cost option first and have to deal with the consequences afterwards. Do it right the first time and hire Hudson Solar.

Wonderful experience

We looked around a lot before going with Hudson Solar. The weren't the cheapest, although they did offer us cheaper alternatives, but they also didn't offer us what appeared to be the unrealistic returns that we got from some other providers. Our project manager Chris Patek was there to answer each and every concern that we had and to offer his experienced opinion. He listened to exactly what we wanted and designed a system to fit our needs and wants. The engineers and installation staff were clearly experienced, helpful and accommodating. We went live last September and have been incredibly happy. They continue to monitor our production on a regular basis to insure the system is working as it should. We would highly recommend Hudson Solar!

WHY Lease when You can own

I have a geothermal system in my home and quickly learned that running this system in cold winter months made HUDSON CENTRAL extremely happy. I started to look around for a an affordable option for energy. I turn to solar city and the representative quickly told me to lease the solar panels and pay per kilowatt. The conversation was really interesting and it sounded light it would be the answer to all my energy problems. I started a research campaign and realize that solar city take all the government rebates and incentives and you get not even a dime. They use your home to put these solar panels and don't even give you a percentage of the federal tax grant. I soon realized that they were running a boarder line legal scam. Then I met Chris Patak an amazing HUDSON Solar Solar consultant. He Educated me on the process to own your on piece on the grid yes I mean owning your solar system. I have been extremely happy with HUDSON SOLARS ability to answer all my questions. They are the way to you solar future. As a homeowner who recently had a Solar system installed by Hudson Solar, I can’t say enough good things about this company. From the beginning of inquiring about purchasing a system to a year later today, they have been friendly, professional, and very fast getting our system from first concept to completed and saving us money daily. Whether it was getting us information, explaining the financing details (tax credits and rebates), and following up with us through the entire project (even a months after completion), our representative Chris has been nothing short of fantastic. As far as the system itself, the installation process was seamless and impressive. Wes and his installation crew are skilled at their craft. The job was completed quickly, they do extremely clean work always with a mindful eye on the overall aesthetics. There was virtually no interruption to our daily lives while the install was happening. It was obvious that they truly care and are passionate at their craft as well as happiness of their customers. I am extremely happy that we choose Hudson Solar, and would make the same choice 100 times over if I had to do it again. we purchased our Solar System from Hudson Solar after researching all solar companies. we are now glad we chose Hudson Solar. Our project manager Chris is the best, he guided us from day one til the system went live and still if I have any questions he makes himself available. I must say everyone in Hudson Solar were very helpful and informative.

Dickerson Ave Installation

Our installation, which was purchased rather than leased, was completed in December of 2015. We couldn't be happier. Our electric bill has plummeted. The knowledge and advice we received from Hudson Solar was fantastic. They really know what they are doing! The electrical inspector and the building inspector both commented that Hudson Solar did a really good job. There were no hidden costs! The material used was of a higher quality than the material offered by the leasing companies. The panels from the leasing company were made in China, with a supposed 20 year warrantee. Ours came from Korea but manufactured by a division of LP, a well known large company which has been in business for many years. I have heard some of these Chinese companies go out of business after a few years so what good is their warrantee.

Hudson Solar was a pleasure to work with during the entire process of placing a solar panel system on my new barn. From the design phase, through permitting and installation, the professionals at Hudson Solar were accommodating, courteous, and informative. They finished the project on time, as promised, working through the holiday season to get it done before the year's end. I have highly recommended Hudson Solar to my friends and neighbors, and look forward to working with them again when I build my new home and install solar panels on it too.

Awesome Company

From the first call to Hudson Solar I was pleased. Every person is incredibly professional, respectful, and accommodating. Chris, the sales rep. went above and beyond. He was always available to answer questions. I was never left waiting. The process itself was quick and painless. Within one week the solar panels were installed, the project inspected, and we were solar. Even after all money was paid, Chris emailed me with suggestions. In fact, he even came over the house one month after the project was completed to answer questions in person. I love Hudson Solar and highly recommend their product to anyone.

custom home solar installation -- a job well done

When I started looking around for a solar installer, I wasn't just looking for someone to put panels on my roof. Our plan was to have a pavilion specially built for supporting the panels and adding an outdoor picnic area to our home. I contacted several solar installers, but only two companies responded to my request. One of them, Hudson Solar, quickly sent a sales representative to my house, Chris Patak. Chris understood our special request, and he did the basic calculations for solar panels to be placed 8+ feet high in various places in our backyard. We discussed whether to aim the pavilion so it was parallel with the house (for aesthetic reasons) or to aim it 12 degrees further east, which would be in the direction of solar south (and maximize solar output). Chris also provided the optimal slant for the roof of the pavilion to maximize the solar output. When I later found a builder, Chris worked with the builder so our pavilion would also be the best possible support for the solar panels. (About this time, the other company that responded to my request finally got back to me, but I was already convinced that working with Hudson Solar was going to be good.) We decided to aim the pavilion directly for solar south. This boosts our solar production, and when all was said and done it looked great and the system has performed flawlessly. Beyond the special request for helping us design the underlying pavilion, I think our installation was a typical installation, so I won't go into more detail. In the scores below I gave scores of 5 in all categories, except for one. Everyone from Hudson Solar was very professional and courteous, except for one technician who showed up late several times. Part of the reason I mention this score of 4 is to emphasize the true 5s for all of the other scores. Hudson Solar is a very stable solar company with good longevity here in the Hudson Valley. I highly recommend them.

Hudson Solar great work

Our system was installed by Hudson Solar earlier this month. After some detailed investigation, we found that our site is suitable for solar. Carey, the project manager, was very helpful And professional throughout the process. Josh and and the installation crew put together a neat and workmanlike installation, cleaning up after themselves every day. Like the engraved name tags for inverters and devices. Overall a positive experience. Enjoying seeing the meter go backwards to the utility, and looking forward to more.

From initial inquiry to completion, everyone at Hudson Solar was responsive and professional. The job was started and completed within the promised time frame and the staff was neat and courteous. They worked through some very, very cold days.

Warwick NY Solar Install

Our interest in solar began with a few of the big leasing companies. We got close to signing up with one of them after they sent me all the info a woo'd us with no upfront costs. Contracts were drawn up, but there were things that just didn’t sit well with the deal. The fact that I would have to sign a 20 year lease with this company and convince any future buyers of my house to pick up that lease was definitely not attractive. Plus the amount we were to pay them per kw and the amount they were taking in the federal tax credit just didn’t add up when I did the math for what we would be paying to them over 20 years. A rep from Hudson Solar came to a solar awareness night at our local library. I attended the session and was enlightened about the prospect of owning, rather than leasing. After seeing all the positives that come from owner financing we decided to work with Hudson Solar to install our solar system. I was put in touch with sales rep, Chris Patak, who was great at explaining our options for financing, system size, support, roi, etc. He setup an engineer to come out who did a thorough site inspection of our house and yard to allow them to draw up plans for the system. Based on that report, Chris showed us a few options for our system, looking to maximize output to cover our yearly electric output. No pressure was applied through any of this process. Once we were satisfied, we signed off on the system and waited for the cold winter to loosen its grip so we could start the installation. We had an inside team come out and setup the monitoring components of the system, and then another crew came to do the outside work and attic work. Both teams were meticulous in the work they performed. Dan and Tim, the outside techs, were courteous, professional and their work was neat. Most of the install days were cold but they showed up promptly and worked through some bad conditions. I offered them hot drinks many times, but all they really wanted was access to a bathroom. I could tell that they were taking care to make sure things were done correctly and without haste. They took their time with the mounts on the roof, insuring a waterproof connection to each rafter. The wiring work and rack work were done neatly as well. On the last day of the job, when the panels were to be installed, I took a look at the panels that were staged in my garage and noticed a 2 inch silver marking on one of the panels. It looked almost like a scratch but I wasn’t quite sure. Dan followed up with the install manager, Wes Naprstek, and he directed them to replace the panel. They had another tech drive a replacement panel down to our house that same day. The distance to our location from the office was over an hour and a half. That was impressive. Wes came out after the install and inspected the system and gave me and my wife a thorough overview of the system. The next day he returned with the electric inspector who signed off on the system. He turned it on and we were delighted to see the rapid pace that the meter was running backward. All the players at Hudson Solar were always responsive to my questions throughout the whole process. They made the process smooth and handled all the paperwork for permitting for what was needed for our town. They went above and beyond just the normal client/customer relationship. An example of this, was when I went to Chris and let him now that I was a volunteer firefighter and was hoping to get a lecture setup for our department on Solar safety for firefighting. Due to the popularity of solar systems in the community (either leased or owned), there are concerns that firefighters need to be aware of if we encounter these systems on a house that we may be responding to in an emergency situation. Without hesitation Chris agreed that it was important topic and worked with another engineer, Gary Bassett, to setup an extremely informative solar awareness talk for one of our drills. There were over 30 firefighters that benefited greatly from the information that he presented that evening. Overall, Hudson Solar has been a pleasure to work with. No pressure through any of the process and they were there to answer all our questions. Would highly recommend them for a solar install. 5 stars for all phases of the job from design, implementation, financing and customer service. So far the production looks great, and time will tell just how well the system functions, but so far so good. Looking forward to sunny days.

Our experience with Hudson Solar very positive. From our first meeting with our project manager, to the time our system was turned on after inspection, everyone that we dealt with was very polite, informative and friendly. They designed a system for us to completely offset our electricity bill and so far I couldn't be happier. Our roof is very easy to access and has a low pitch so it helped to make for a quick and easy installation. The technicians that worked on our home were extremely professional and very efficient. The work was completed in about 5 days and after an electrical inspection, out system was turned on and we were off to the races. It's pretty cool to watch the utility meter run backwards. I also seem to pay more attention to the weather forecasts and I'm always hoping to see a sunny days predicted. Although, even on cloudy days we still produce some power.

Solar still going strong!

My Solar system was installed by Hudson Solar 9 years ago and it is over-performing from the original production estimates I was given! 9 years ago they were the only solar company in the area...and they are still here!

You get what you pay for.

This is a high priced company that uses the highest grade components, and highly skilled and courteous employees. The ROI that they provided takes a lot of assumptions into account, including the increase of the cost of the property, which is irrelevant for those not looking to sell. I have 5600 kW system from them, and it's covering 100% of my electric usage. The system will break even at 25 year mark, making the whole project a wash financially, but I get a huge smile on my face every time I get my, so it's worth it to me.

Update

I wrote a very negative post re HS on 12/24/13, under Tay, because I felt I was being overcharged for moving some existing panels. Since then, HS and I compromised on terms and the work has been completed. The workers were very professional, expert and cordial. Although I had strong disagreements with management on terms, my experience with the work crew was very positive.

6KW Residential Solar

I cannot say enough good things about Hudson Solar and have recommended them to friends. Everything went along smoothly from concept, estimating electric savings and Return on Investment,final design, permits, applications, financing and installation. I rate them FIVE STAR.

6 years on solar. System performing better than promised.

April 21st 2008. System turned on -- no problems to report as of writing this. Everyone who we interacted with at the company were pleasant. Crews did a good job, neat and clean. System has exceeded expectations -- producing about 8% more per year than what I was told it would. I happily recommend them based in my experience for my home.

99 percent clear sky in the real Wallkill

The price was right and the time was right to move to a solar system. The installation is shielded from the road by a large barn and looks South over open fields. The engineer who came to check out the site said he had never seen such an open sky. The Town is happy that it is more or less shielded from the road. The installation was smooth and with very few hickups and Hudson Solar were great. They delivered what the promised at the price quoted and helped make sure we maximized the tax credits and NYSERDA credits. Just need bright sunny days and have it only be cloudy and rain or snow at night!
