SunCommon is by far the best company to go solar with! We went with them for my solar panels and could not be happier. The service this company gives is above and beyond any other out there! Additional note. I strongly suggest that you pair your solar with the Tesla power wall. Makes a really great addition to saving power for outages!

Three years with solar

I have been with this company for three years. I just reviewed the original estimates the gave me with my three years of bills. The estimates were right on target. The company has been a pleasure to work with. My questions are always respected and answered. The staff are knowledgeable, caring and enjoyable to work with. I am a big fan!

Exceptional!

We recently had a SunCommon solar canopy installed as our carport - we originally inquired with SunCommon because the solar canopy looked great and was just what we were looking for, and we couldn't be happier with our decision to work with SunCommon. The solar canopy itself so impressive—the frame and joinery is beautiful—and every step of the way, the SunCommon team were very responsive, proactive, professional, and friendly. The entire soup-to-nuts offering took care of every detail, including admin like permitting, interconnection, NYS incentives etc., making the whole process so smooth and easy. I highly recommend!

Great Experience

We found SunCommon through Tesla. We wanted to have battery back up at our home and Tesla listed SunCommon as an approved installer. We also decided to go with solar panels on the house. Everyone we talked with at SunCommon was professional and very knowledgeable. They walked me through all aspects of the project including regulations, permitting etc. They delivered the project exactly on time and we actually got the battery backup faster than we expected. No doubt we would go with them again.

Making clean energy more accessible through community solar

When I found out SunCommon had spots available in their Community Solar Array (CSA), I instantly knew this was the solar option for me. Living in an apartment, and not having ownership over my roof or property, I thought there was little I could do to transition my home to clean, renewable energy. SunCommon helped me to understand how I could earn credits on my electric bill through participation in a local CSA. Their sales team made it simple and easy to sign up, and their customer support team was quick to answer any questions along the way. It felt great to know that as an individual living in an apartment, I could still lower my carbon footprint and contribute to a healthier planet.

Easy Sign Up! Great Communication!

We joined the SunCommon Red Hook Community Solar Array last summer, before the array had even been built. We were so excited to be part of a local community project that was doing so much good for the planet. It was such an easy process to join - we were able to sign up online, and then a sales person reached out to see if I had any questions. I did have a few questions and they were very patient and knowledgeable. Throughout the construction phase SunCommon would send us emails every few weeks with photos and updates - it was really cool to watch it come to life. When the array was finally turned on, they invited us (and all the other customers) to the ribbon cutting and had a free pancake breakfast after! I was so impressed! You can tell that SunCommon cares about their customers and their community. Highly recommend!

I shopped around a lot before signing and this is by far the best team and equipment around. Hudson Solar did top notch work from beginning to end. Every detail was set and carried out with quality and professionalism. They also do a great job of communicating along the way, Our panels are producing as much or more power than they estimated. Couldn't be happier!

Solar expansion

We hired Hudson Solar to add more panels to an existing system on our roof that was meeting about 65% of our annual electricity needs. They designed and installed an expansion that puts us just over 100%. We contacted Hudson Solar first because we knew their sales person from our original purchase from Alteris Solar (who we were very pleased with), and it turns out that several other former Alteris staff work for Hudson now too. In short, they were extremely professional, knowledgeable and personable; the installation crew was very efficient, neat and friendly; and their communication and handling of paperwork was excellent. Best of all, the price dropped by more than 20% from the initial estimate to the final agreement because of a price reduction for SunPower panels. The finished system looks great and requires absolutely no maintenance on our part, and will pay for itself in less than 10 years. I have recommended Hudson Solar to anyone I know who is interested in a solar photovoltaic system.

Overall Excellence

From beginning to end, nothing but great service, professionalism and friendliness. Constant contact with what is happening - I was never in the dark. Very clean and orderly. They had a few delays because of weather with the projects before mine, but they kept me informed and started my job. In the middle of it, I went on vacation, which delayed the process, but as soon as we were back, they finished up. They did all the contacting of getting building permit, electrical inspection, etc. I'm EXTREMELY happy to watch my electric meter run backwards!!

Our solar panels were installed 3 months ago and we couldn't be happier with Hudson Solar. PV Solar in Dutchess County NY

Hudson Solar folks were great to deal and work with at all levels. I am an amateur radio operator (Ham) and needed a PV system that would not interfere electronically with my Ham activities. Hudson Solar worked with me to select a type of system and components that would achieve this goal. I am very pleased with the result. .

First class job

All the folks I came in contact with were highly professional, polite, and helpful. From the design process through permitting, NYSERDA paperwork etc. to installation Hudson performed 100%. My system is larger than normal (15kW AC that should crank out 20kWh per year) and has 56 ground mount panels in two rows that required quite a bit of installation work: First 16 fifteen foot trenches about 2' wide and a foot deep. Verticals for racks were then mounted in trenches that were filled with concrete. Putting racks together is a precision job. Output from panels connected to garage where the inverters etc. located via a 300' trench, some of which had to be dug through a shale outcrop. Everyone showed up on time and did a hard day of work. While I don't claim to be a PV expert, I know a fair amount, and the price charged was reasonable. All in all, quality people and a quality job.

superb installation experience in Red Hook

After having installed a solar power system with a big national company at a second home in AZ about 3 years ago, I had planned to go with them at a combination new/existing structure at my main home in NY. I feel so fortunate that I'd noticed the many Hudson Solar signs in my area: they provided a MUCH more pleasant, efficient, and ultimately economical solution to my needs. The national company could/would not deal with a building under construction, despite clear indications of a roof area that could be used, and they continue with their annoying/frustrating corporate communication model, where representatives/concierges/etc. appear and disappear. Hudson Solar could adapt easily to what was on the ground and what was to come, their communication and hierarchy was clear, constant and personable, and they had a larger selection of panels to choose from. The whole process was MUCH smoother, simpler and faster than dealing with the competitor - and I couldn't be happier with the system that has now been up and running for several months.

Sunpower Equinox

We purchased a SunPower Equinox AC system in June 2016. We are very happy with our system as we have not had an electric bill since activation. I did a great deal of research before making the choice to go with Sunpower. Their systems produce on average 40% more power than the competition over a 25 year period and they are designed to last over 40 years. There are no competitors that come even close to this. For 25 years you will have a guarantee on power production which is the best in the industry. Aesthetically, the system has a very small thumbprint. As you'll see from the photos there is hardly anything to it. Because the system is so small if we needed more power later we could easily add more of these high efficiency panels. We are currently switching out appliances that run on gas for those that are electric in order to take advantage of our free electricity. The amount of power we use does not even come close to the amount that we produce. Hudson solar was very professional and courteous. I highly recommend them, and of course I highly recommend Sunpower. We get compliments all the time by our neighbors about how nice the system looks. This is the best investment I have ever made. 

Local installer doing the right thing

I had researched solar for about 1 year. I looked at 6 different companies. Hudson solar gave me more for less than any other company. They explained the process from start to finish. The best part is that they are local to me which meant even more. I have had the system for 2 months now and have been very happy. When the CEO visits you on site gives an special touch. The entire company cares and will take care of you. I highly recommend for the best choice.

Great Company!

We came to Hudson Solar through going to a meeting Solarize Wappingers had at the Vassar Barns on the Vassar Farm. We chose Hudson Solar because it was local to the Mid-Hudson Valley. The whole process of working with Hudson Solar was informative and easy. Before coming out to our site, our Project Manager had looked at Google Earth to make a preliminary determination of the best places on our site to place solar panels. He led us through those and we jointly decided on the garage roof. The Project Manager suggested trees to be removed, but the decision was up to us. Our next visit was from Work Crew Foreman, who looked at all of our electric systems and figured out what needed to be done. He also kept us up to date on the crew’s progress on other projects and let us know when they would begin here. Once begun, they took only two days to install our system, a third of the first day being lost due to a heavy rain storm. The foreman then returned to walk us through the recording system, and a couple of days later CenHud installed our new meter and we were set to go. Hudson Solar took care of all of the legal issues with construction and also of contacting Central Hudson. We enjoyed working with all of the people of Hudson Solar and have enjoyed our system – though since today is a blizzard, we haven’t gotten any solar power! We recommend Hudson Solar with enthusiasm and no reservations.

Residential System

Hudson solar did a large installation for my employer and I was impressed with their professionalism. We had the rep come out to the house and evaluate our location after some initial communication and planning via satellite photos. I discussed my preference for the panels - on the barn not the house - from an aesthetic standpoint and he did a walk around. Long story short the planning, location, financing and installation were excellent. They handled all the permits and grants and set up the install date. I met with the crew when they arrived and showed them around and they were courteous and professional. As they described, 4 days later we were activated and making solar electric. Recommend highly - hope to have them do our lake house as well.

Successfully installed system on a very difficult site

Hudson Solar installed a ground-mount system for me several months ago, and overall, I'm very satisfied so far. The system was installed on a very tough, sloped, rocky site--so tough that several other installers declined the job, and I decided to contract separately for site preparation and system installation. Hudson Solar handled the installation, and worked cooperatively with the site prep contractor. They delivered as promised in their contract, the system has passed all inspections, and it is generating the amount promised.

Small Company - Great Results!

This company, though local and relatively small, has far surpassed my expectations for quality, price, and service. Every decision was made with consideration for the long term value of my home and the success of the installation. One particular notable effort was the careful attention paid to the wiring conduit as it came off the roof. They had to fish it under the roof from a crawl space in the attic to have it emerge from the soffit, where it could be hidden next to the gutter drain pipe. This was a real pain but they did it because that was the best possible choice. 5-stars!!!

Sunpower PV Panel Install

Very happy with the whole process. I met with sales, engineering and installation teams over the course of the project. Every person seemed dedicated to making sure every installation decision was explained to my satisfaction (and I did have questions). A very professional organization. I was impressed with how well they coordinated the involvement of the the electric utility, the building department and the necessary inspections.
