Ian and his team installed a 9.6kW Solar Edge system in our home this past September. It was fairly complicated, integrating an existing whole house generator, the Solar Edge System, an EV Charger and two batteries. What I really enjoyed was the education that accompanied the hardware. They patiently educated me in operating the system as well as the nuisance of living in a solar first home. Simple things like when to run the dishwasher, or when to charge the car were extremely helpful. All in all it was a great experience.

Ian and his team were great to work with. Very professional and easy to deal with. Kept us informed regularly and readily answered any questions. While there were delays, with so many supply issues I'm very happy with the final timeline. That is why I gave 5 stars despite the delays for my "On schedule" rating. With regard to cost, no other vendor was really close. Not only that, no other vendor gave me such confidence that the job would be done correctly. The work was done to a high standard. Not only was cost kept in mind, but he long term viability of the system was considered. Lastly, everyone I dealt with during the installation process had a very high opinion of Ian and his team. Last year GTRE installed our complete solar system with 24 solar panels producing 9.8 kW and 2 LG Li-Ion batteries with 32 kWh storage capacity. I am absolutely thrilled with my recent solar installation - a 10.08 kW system with 9.3 kWh battery! Ian was super responsive and patient with me as I sent him questions about the 10k Solar Edge and LG Chem battery system he recommended. So it wasn't a surprise when he and his crew did a super professional job on the install and testing. What I didn't expect, though, was that I'd actually enjoy having Ian and his crew around! Great sense of humor and, based on the way he ran his crew and the way they responded to him, a very effective leader. Also, when supply chain issues arose he went out of his way to search for and locate a battery for my system when the originally-ordered battery was hung-up in transit. There's a lot of other specifics I could provide, but this says it all: I once caught him on the roof re-adjusting a whole row of panels to insure that they were in perfect visual alignment with the last panel he'd installed in that row. It has only been off by a small fraction of an inch.

When I started looking for a solar company to add solar to my house, my top requirements were experience and they also had to be knowledgeable enough to answer all of my detailed questions. There are several companies out there, but for this region, no one is better than Ian at GTRE! Ian took a lot of time to develop a proposal and answer all of my questions (and I had a lot!). Had received bids elsewhere which were unsuitable, one out of Knoxville sent up red flags, with immediate distrust/slimy...gave high bid, premium prices for install and equipment not up to my standards/requirements, and sales person was arrogant and high-pressure. Ian Huddleston with Greene Tech Renewable Energy was the exact opposite. First contact/meeting was impressed with knowledge, experience, presentation and bid/equipment to be obtained high quality, with excellent and professional bid for complete install. Performed solar audit on rooftop with proper software to evaluate and verify site suitability. Our install situation NOT typical...two 200 amp services were first updated to single 400 amp service meter/drop with two disconnects/service panels. Installation completed with high attention to detail, and thought given to final appearance and outcome. Ian's team's work is absolutely up to the high standards I hoped for and expected. There have been issues, but each one has been investigated, with contact made with SolarEdge support to ensure all is correct and to figure out how to rectify situation, and Ian has been responsive and out on site to make sure system performs as expected, despite the issues encountered. Even typical installs may have issues, ours being unique had unique problems that needed attention, and we have been extremely pleased with GTRE's desire to be sure we are happy with system, and they are happy with system, and that it is performing as it should be.

We spent several weeks investigating and interviewing several solar energy companies across TN from Nashville to Johnson City. I had GTRE out to do a 9.3KWh system with LG Chem Storage. GTRE was just great from quote to site survey to project completion, everything first class and professional. The state inspector had nothing but great things to say about their workmanship. Ian responded to our initial inquiry and to every question and concern throughout the process, which was protracted and complicated by multiple sites, TVA Green Power Provider application and USDA REAP grant application. He was patient and helpful at every step.

This was a relatively large system (30 KW) grid tied with no batteries. Ninety seven panels on the main house and detached garage (linked). Ian kept me informed as to his schedule and when he would be here to do the work. The work proceeded smoothly, with no extras during the work, and the system immediately worked and passed inspection upon completion. Ian is fair and good for his word, in my experience. (I am a former home builder and civil engineer and respect good work).

I have been in precision manufacturing for my career and tend to be quite fussy about others doing work in my home. Ian worked with me as I did as much of the install as I could manage. I mounted the rails and the panels and did the trenching to the power pole. He designed the system, ordered all the materials, installed the optimizers, ran all the wires and and hooked everything up to the inverter. He also coordinated everything with the local power company. He was very knowledgeable. He proved this by troubleshooting a ground fault issue that was secondary to my carelessness. He also proved very patient and encouraging with my DYI efforts. He followed through promptly on all his commitments. I strongly recommend GTRE for any size solar project.

Ian did an amazing job on the install and he really knows what he was doing. The only issue I had was it took a lot longer to install the system than anticipated, and it ended up taking ~5 months to install due mostly to other jobs, Ian having to move warehouses, winter weather, and then materials (panel) delays. We committed in Oct. 2018, but it took until April 2019 to start and finish the job. Even so, the job he did was great and his tech. support during and after the install was great as well.

I actually met Ian in an Advance Auto parking lot when he was getting ready install a battery in his truck. After he told me what he did I got a card and called him several months later to get started evaluating my house. He quoted me a great system and we agreed to install. If an installation can be perfect, that’s what we got. All the panels, conduit, inverters, etc. are perfectly in sync with my home. We went with all black panels which look great and the system is performing great as well. With the SolarEdge app on my phone I can check out exactly what each of the 33 panels are producing. I would recommend GTRE to anybody that wants to take the Solar leap!

Ian was professional and cost competitive in the product and services he provided. Ian guided me throughout the process with the TVA and local utility company from start to finish. GTRE installed 840 watts of solar panels for an educational project for our area schools. This was a very unique project - a school bus converted into a mobile STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Learning Center with some internal electronics powered by the solar array, This bus will travel to local elementary schools and provide schoolchildren with hands-on learning in the STEM-related subjects. GreeneTech Renewable Energy has worked with us, our local electric co-operative and TVA to get a ground-mount PV array (no battery storage) up and running without major problems. Since starting the process in late 2017 to retain the more favorable utility reimbursement rate, Ian Huddleston and crew came out several times to do the install, connection, and testing. From his shop to our work site, it's a two hour drive. Often, he'd work until early evening. GTRE maintained the agreed-upon contract price, even after the US government imposed a 30% tariff on solar panels, which was immediately passed along to GTRE. The panels were Italian-made (an EU country, not China), but still applied. Ian Huddleston made the contracting and installation process simple for homeowner and explained everything along the way.

Installation and activation were prompt and the service was great. The pricing was well within reason and there were no overruns.

My wife and I started looking into solar about 6 months ago. After doing a great deal of research myself, I found that many listings on the Internet were very misleading, many seemed to just be interested in selling inferior products, and seemed mostly to be interested in selling a product and NOT providing the information needed to make an informed decision. One EXCEPTION to this was Ian Huddleston of Green Tech Renewable Energy (GTRE). Ian contacted us immediately and without hesitation came to our home (a good one hour drive) even though I explained to him by phone that this could be a "challenging" installation. On arrival we discussed our solar options. Even though we have a number of trees, he made a thorough survey of what was possible. He was totally honest about what we could expect and since we did not want total energy independence how much we could reasonably expect. He took our wishes into consideration and made suggestions on how with minimal tree trimming we could optimize solar production with minimum esthetic changes. At no time did he "Hard Sell". On his second visit (my wife and I needed to think about it), we signed on the bottom line. He had the misfortune of ordering supplies from Florida during two hurricanes that delayed delivery but since he is a major distributer of the high quality products he supplied to us, delivery was expedited by his suppliers so the installation progressed and was finished with little delay. Ian was a joy to work with and was very professional. I am a bit of a kibitzer and asked him MANY questions during the install. He not only answered my plethora of questions but also educated me on the many ins and outs of the installation. Ours was a bit "out-of-the-box" since we also have a backup generator that handles essential loads during power outages. He was able to integrate the solar installation such that on an outage, immediate needs are met with solar and storage batteries, switching to the generator only when that is depleted. As I said before the products he supplies are VERY HIGH QUALITY and the solid black solar panels he supplied complement the style of our contemporary home very well. Indeed his installation almost looks like it was planned as a part of the original design. In conclusion, should you desire a well-designed, professionally installed, high quality solar installation, done efficiently at a very good price, look no further than Ian Huddleston and GTRE.

being a customer of GTRE for a greenhouse energy source project was very gratifying. To have solar panels installed to operate a water pump using water from a nearby spring and to operate an exhaust fan is very energy efficient,cost effective and environmentally friendly.
