Unable to contact anyone associated with this company. Some sites say they have been bought by LA Solar. Any contract are now worthless.

I had an installation from a previous company Barnes Solar that they bought. When the installation was done they cracked roof tiles and put a hole in the roof. With the bad rains this year, the house was wrecked. They sent out someone who promised it was fixed, but it rained again and more damage was done to the house. After multiple 'no-show' appointments scheduled, they sent out an electrician without a ladder. Now they say they're not responsible even after I hired a roof to inspect the damage they caused. This company is only out for itself and does not care about any damage they cause.

Our solar panels have been installed April 2021, May 2022 we are in customer service hell. Barnes has no working phone number, no representative that will contact you, return calls, the number never goes to VM, it's dead. We were just this day notified that Barnes is now La Solar Group, if they went out of business or just sold out to La Solar Group is anyones guess. Again we point out that ZERO, yes that's ZERO information was passed onto the customer. Who is servicing the system you purchased from Barnes, after a lot of internet searching and other BS, we found them. The Solar Edge App is useless, the system has been offline for 5 months without us the consumer knowing this, yeah read that again, 5 MONTHS OFF LINE. Ok, next up is a lawyer, BBB to file a complaint, and more time and money out of our pockets. This ain't over!

I reached out to Barnes Solar to get a quote for my townhome. I ended up speaking with Mike and he was fantastic in reviewing the entire process, pricing, warranty, etc... He provided an initial quote based on a Google Earth view of our roof, then sent out an installer to get an exact measurement of how many panels we could fit and what percentage of our electric bill the solar system would offset. The pricing was great and Mike worked closely with our HOA as we were going to be the first owners in our community to add solar, so we had to follow / create the CC&Rs to include solar. Unfortunately, due to the design of our roof and the requirements of panel placements not being allowed to be too close to property lines or roof pitch changes, we were not able to design a system that would offset enough of our electric bill. Instead of pushing me to still buy the system, Mike was honest and straightforward and agreed that it might not be the best time for us to add solar. As of right now, the panels are I believe 400kwh each? ...once they become more efficient, we may be able to generate more power with less panels and pursue this again. If we end up moving to a place that has a better roof design, we will definitely go back to Barnes Solar to have them build out a system for us!! Thanks!! Eric & Jen

After shopping for a solar system for four months, I finally settled on Solaria panels for my home. I did some research & located a local installer. But their quote didn't make sense and I decided not to use them. I wrote to Solaria corporate office and indicated I really liked their panels but needed to locate a honest reputable company in my area. They provided three recommendations (none were the company I had already engaged) & one was Barnes Solar. I spoke to Mike at Barnes and I knew I had a winner. Truth be told, I am a tough consumer and I do my homework. I don't like the "used car salesmen" approach used by so many solar companies. Mike was none of it. Anyhow, I received an acceptable quote & did the deal. Barnes did everything they said they would do. Signed a contract on June 11. My association provided the green light on July 8. Barnes scheduled installation on July 15-16. The county inspection completed on July 16. PTO was granted by SDG&E on July 20. Doesn't get much better. I highly recommend Barnes Solar & you will see why the have a perfect 5 star reputation.

I waited to write this review because I wanted to have enough time with the system to write a fair review. We have now been installed about 9 months and we are extremely happy with our choice to go with Barnes Solar. They were professional, responsive and fair. Initially, we were leaning toward another vendor, but after talking to neighbors we researched Barnes and decided to go with them. It was a great decision. Throughout the process, our project manager worked hand-in-hand with us. Even several months after installation, when I contacted him for copies of paperwork, he immediately replied and provided the materials. I would highly recommend Barnes Solar.

We contacted a few Solar installers, gave them a spreadsheet of the last few years of our electrical consumption by month and had them over to give us their thoughts and cost proposal. Prices were close, but Jake from Barnes was especially clear, patient and even offered to take a quick look at the roof. Jake's pricing was good and he came prepared with 2 proposals, 1 based on our recent use including a new EV and 1 that would be enough for a future 2nd electric car. We agreed to move forward with Barnes, including a new 125A subpanel. The Barnes crew was friendly and clean. Jake was very interactive with e-mail and a couple phone calls. The only negative was the time it took for our city to issue the permit, and as a city employee I know that was true. Bottom line - We had a great experience and recommend Barnes (and Jake) without reservation.

Ever hear the oft-used phrase, " No one's perfect"? Well, count that as a myth now. Following much research, and several bids, ( AND one scorching summer/fall with electric bills soaring into the $500's even with thermostat at 80), we settled with the company who not only used aerial google photos, but "old school style", actually put a guy on the roof to check the way the sun hit the roof in consideration of our giant shade trees; human sundial fashion; Ricky reset the " typical" position to an array that would bring the best benefit specific for our site. Ricky also advised not over buying panels and his calculations have proven near exact. (This guy's good!) We had a bit extra produced energy, received a small check from Edison, so easily added a Tesla. Still covered. Yep, Barnes Solar sent the best, most professional squad to install the new system, electric panel, as well as the most recent addition, a Tesla charger much thanks to Jose who set that up, with exceptional skill, cleanup and professionalism. Jake, was great to work with, in keeping us on the schedule. This company IS perfect! You can take THAT to the bank.... unless you haven't gotten your solar from Barnes Solar that is!”

After 9 months of exploring solar options with larger, nationwide solar companies with terrible customer service, non-transparent pricing, and a complete lack or urgency, we found Barnes through a neighborhood referral. I am so lucky we did. The entire process start to finish took one month, everyone we interacted with at the company was honest, the pricing was fair, and the installation crew was courteous and quick

I had 3 quotes (Tesla, Sunpower and Barnes Solar). Finally, I selected local company Barnes solar due to their response time, transparency, 25yr warranty on equipment+ service , quote and guarantee to finish work on given quote (if extra , they will pay as my budget is fixed) . Their Service and my experience from start to end was great. I worked with Jack at Barnes Solar. They took care my HOA, city ,SCE form and approvals OR in other word, they took care everything. Workmanship of crew and electrical personnel was better than I expected. Very friendly , professional and honest in communication. They made suggestions from experience for all equipment location/ plan and where to run electric pipes which I changed a bit and approved. Due to my electric panel didn’t had enough space for wiring, they added one more medium size electrical panel (took 5-6hr to install + equipment cost) (which was not planned or was not included in quote), They installed it at no cost due to prior agreement. I will definitely recommend them to all my friends and family.

This was one of the best encounters with residential contractors that I have experienced. Mike was super courteous and timely and follow up was professional. Installation went smooth and my electrical bills are almost nothing. Great service, great product, and great people.

Jake was a great . The company is full of engineers first and not sales guys. That’s what I loved they just tell you everything and answer all your questions. Perfect sizing. We have been up for a year and we had a 25 dollar balance for the year.

I was in the market for solar panels and Barnes Solar was recommended to me from a friend. Pete was highly professional and took the time to answer any and all questions I had and even presented me with answers to questions I didn't know to ask. Other companies sent salesmen to sell me solar with continuous follow-ups, but working with Pete there was no pressure. Would highly recommend them for future projects and other home owning coworkers.

Jake was great to work with. Barnes Solar has done 2 of our homes and did a great job. They are clean, efficient, professional and fast. They communicate the entire time and do just about 100% of the work. All we had to do was turn the switch on. There's even an app where you can track your energy usage. Great company and highly recommend them.

I was constantly getting text messages with updates and dates when the installation was going to take place. Text messages as "heads up." I am very pleased with their service and I will 110% recommend them. The whole process was smooth, quick and zero headaches. Our system is working great!

Barnes Solar did a great job for us before, during, and after the installation. They patiently answered our questions before and after installation and did not push us at all to get solar. We really appreciated Jake's responsiveness and thoroughness throughout the process. The team they sent out to install the system was very professional and efficient. We are very happy with our solar and have recommended Barnes Solar to some of our friends. As the days get longer, we get even happier because our solar energy produced each day is increasing.

We have now had our first annual true up bill with SDG&E last Fall and netted out below zero. WE're very pleased with the results we're getting. All of the folks we dealt with at Barnes Solar were prefessional, well informed and courteous. It was a pleasant experience!

All is well. My system is working great. Just got my first bill for a complete month and it was only $27.00. My system was down for about 10 days due to a bad splice in my electrical when I built my garage. I spoke to Pete and he sent out their electrician and he helped me isolate the problem. They have a great team. They were all very helpful.

We did a lot of research of received 6 different solar bids before deciding to purchase solar panels from Barnes Solar. It was the absolute BEST decision! We worked with Jake Cosmo and our experience with Jake and with Barnes as a whole was nothing short of fantastic! Jake was well informed, patient, incredibly helpful and never pushy. The installation team was fast and professional. They even noticed and fixed my broken gate! We honestly cannot say enough great things about our experience with Barnes Solar. Very professional and straight forward company. The presentation and pricing for our solution……. all the way through to install, and activation of our account was seamless. Jake is a true professional. Knowing what I know now about how they work, I wish I had done this years ago.

From the first visit with the quote to the last to make sure everything was running correctly. The guy's at Barnes Solar did everything they said they would. They kept us informed every step of the way. They were in and out in 3-4 days counting the city inspection. I recommend them to everybody.

Two and a half years ago we were introduced to Barnes Solar through a friend who had just completed a installation at his home. Barnes walked us through the entire process including scope of work, permitting, design installation and warranty. We could not be more pleased with the work that they did on our home, the keeping to their schedule, cleanliness of worksite and the value of the job done. We would highly recommend Barnes Solar for anyone contemplating solar based on the work completed for our family.

We retired to a house in Rancho Bernado and wanted to install enough solar panels to offset our entire annual electricity usage so we got quotes from several companies. However, we wanted the minimum number of panels on the roof (so we needed the higher power ones) and we have a clay tile roof (tiles are fragile and easily broken), and we live in a development that has a strict Home Owners Association (the HOA vetted the installation and had certain requirements). Only Barnes Solar was willing to work with us, explain things thoroughly, and when we accepted their bid, work with the HOA to get the system installed quickly and efficiently. The contractor from Costco would not work with a clay tile roof (with several O'Hagin vents) so we would have to find a roofing company ourselves, another contractor quoted many thousands of dollars higher than Barnes for roughly the same power system. At the last minute the HOA wanted 'black on black' panels rather than 'black with almost invisible silver lines' and Barnes was able to get the desired panels. Our 25 panel system has been running smoothly and trouble-free since we turned it on in October 2016. We have not needed any After Sales Support (so no stars given) and it is delivering slightly more power than forecast. We are very happy with the outcome and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Barnes Solar to others.

Barnes Solar completed a solar panel install for me in 2016. I couldn't be happier! After interviewing 3-4 companies I found they were the most genuine and had the best prices and solution for my needs. Some just wanted to see how many panels they could get on my roof and tried to over produce. Barnes design made the most sense for us as they had a strategic plan to balance out our usage so we would have a 0 bill. After our first true up period we actually got a $40 credit. As a local business owner myself it was important for me to support a local company as well.

We were so pleased with the work Barnes Solar did for us and will definitely use them again if we need solar power for another property. When we first met with Jake from Banes Solar, he listened to our goals, answered all of our questions, addressed our general concerns about solar power, and let us know what to expect every step of the process. Our goal was to have a system sized to practically eliminate our power bill--and that is exactly what we ended up with! The installers were totally professional and always on time. They were also fabulous about working around multiple other crews we had on our property while they were installing. Post installation, Jake kept us updated on the status of authorizations from regulatory authorities and the power company. Then once our system went live, he gave us a tutorial on the app for monitoring our usage. We based our decision to use Barnes Solar largely on recommendations from other community members and are pleased to add our recommendation to theirs: Barnes Solar is fantastic and we do not regret selecting them for our solar system.

I am so happy with my choice to work with Barnes Solar. I interviewed 7 different companies and compared price, warranty, panels, professionalism, design and more and Barnes was clearly the best company for us when looking at all the metrics. They are easy to work with, efficient and we have had great performance from our solar system for almost two years now. I do not regret a single thing about our decision and highly recommend them.

I dealt with Pete at Barnes Solar. I decided on them after several companies quoted my project. I had 32 LG315 with Enphase M250... we had to connect the system from the rear garage to the main panel about 110' away. They used there full time crew and did a great job. I received my PTO with three days of the final inspection.
