I had always wanted solar for my home and looked around the area for reputable installers. After my research, I identified the top 4 companies and I talked with all of them but felt the most comfortable with 8MSolar. They had a no pressure sales presentation, went over my home's layout and shading situation with me and gave me real world expected production numbers. I was kept informed on all permit and application statuses, 8MSolar dealt with all the inspections and truly delivered a turnkey solar experience. I will use 8MSolar when installing solar on my second home as well.

Am very happy with 8MSolar

Their solar system was reasonably priced on top of that, they gave me the best discount for cash. The installation crew was great. They had the system mechanically installed in about three hours with an additional three hours for the electrical connections. The system powered up without a hitch and produced almost 40kwh the first day. The sales and engineering staff were friendly and courteous. They kept in touch every step of the way. The only very small issue is they failed to provide a sign to advertise their system, which may cost them future sales in my area. Would definitely recommend 8M solar for your eco-friendly power source.

Wonderful product from a local company that cares!

We hired 8M Solar based on an excellent recommendation from friends and are so happy we did!! The first thing that impressed us was that a founder of the company, Usman Noor, came to our house to discuss what we wanted to accomplish with solar. It wasn't a random employee who was trained to be a sales person (which was our first experience). He was very polite and intelligent on the matter with an impressive background in solar engineering. The second thing that impressed us was Usman was very patient in answering all of our questions and did not try to over sell us. We had minimal knowledge about solar panels and he explained that we had so much accessible roof that we would be able to get 100% production without using the most expensive types of panels. He could have sold us the more expensive panels but he was interested in giving us our best value. For every stage of the process 8M was on time which made it so much easier for our busy schedule. Mapping out the construction was painless. They had the materials shipped straight to our house and Usman even came out to unpack them and move them into our garage. The installation was efficient and the inspections went smoothly. Even when there was a problem in setting up the WiFi monitoring, they came back immediately and figured out a good fix. We were also VERY impressed with how responsive and available 8M was to us. If we had a question or concern, Usman was always available by phone, text or email. After the install, they continue to be very accessible. When I had a question about 1 mo after the install, Usman answered immediately and even followed up with me later to make sure my issue with Duke was resolved. In summary, 8M Solar was wonderful and we plan to do solar at our vacation house with them. We would certainly recommend them to anyone interested in solar. The system is great, the installation was easy, and a $16 power bill in the hottest part of summer is amazing!

8MSolar installed a rooftop solar array at my house in May this year. I requested quotes from multiple companies, and 8MSolar was by far the most responsive and comprehensive in their response, not to mention the competitive nature of their bid as well. They handled getting the necessary documentation for satisfying the HOA and the utility company, and were quick to make adjustments to the layout based on the feedback. They also took care of some minor issues with the shipping, and the installation went off without any issues. I am satisfied with the production output since the installation. Their after installation service is also great - they promptly responded the only time I had to call for a minor issue with the monitoring app. Overall, I've been very satisfied, and have no hesitations recommending them to others considering a solar install.

I was very impressed by the attention to detail. Usman took the time to show me several installations completed by 8M Solar prior to my signing a contract. The installation was very neat. I am producing power in line with the estimates that 8M furnished.

Great quality and value

8MSolar installed a rooftop solar array at my home 5 months ago, and overall I am very happy with the performance of the system. I obtained multiple quotes from different companies, and ultimately went with 8M due to my confidence in their capability (I checked one of their previous installations) and the good value of the quote (as compared to others). After choosing them for the install, they were able to schedule an installation very quickly. I experienced one issue with them during the installation, as the installers arrived with a different planned panel layout than I had originally agreed to. Apparently, after doing some measurements at the house, the engineers had modified the layout to reduce the effects of shade, but this information had not been communicated to me in advance. Though this caused some problems on the day of the install, they eventually acknowledged the mistake and were good about working with me to remedy the issue. They have since informed me that they have adjusted their procedures to prevent any recurrence. In general, I’d recommend making sure that any provider sees the home in person (not just photos) before issuing a quote, just to make sure there aren’t any surprises later. I was very impressed with the installers themselves and the quality of the installation. All of the materials were of high quality and skillfully installed, and I am quite happy with the end result. I have had no issues with roof leaks or anything else, and the production has been in line with my expectations. I am quite happy with my system and would recommend 8MSolar to other homeowners. Pros: Great quality, great value, skilled installation Cons: Communication prior to installation.

8M solar - good value & professional service

I selected 8M Solar after getting bits from several firms (local and national) due to their competitive bid and good reviews. They did not disappoint: communication was good throughout, they handled all paperwork with the town and utility and the panels (up 3 months now) are performing great and meeting my expectations.

8MSolar Provides Great Service

Our solar system is working great, with no problems. It's early yet, so we have not had an electric bill since the system was installed. Therefore savings cannot be estimated yet. 8MSolar, our supplier/installer, were great to work with, courteous, timely and efficient. They installed our 11.5-KW system (34 panels, etc) in about six hours! Very impressive! They also helped our local code inspector understand the installation and provide approval of the installation. Why isn't everyone having 8MSolar install a PV system for them?! It sure beats paying so much for electric and burning the planet up to boot!

Go Solar with 8MSolar

So, I'll soon be approaching 6 months. Over that time, a lot has changed and all for the better. 6 months ago, a Solar PV system for my home was still a long distant dream, at best. Now, thanks to 8MSolar, I've realizing that dream that I've had for a very long time of having a residential Solar PV system that powers nearly 100% of our home's electricity needs! This system, combined with an EV-capable inverter, has allowed me to also basically eliminate my gas bill with the recent purchase of a used Chevy Spark EV as well! This process began by obtaining system quotes through EnergySage.com and, in hindsight, I couldn't be more please with how the process/project turned out! After reviewing all the quotes and information, it became clear that 8MSolar offered the right mix of some of the highest-quality products for the best price! Our solar installation with 8MSolar

On March the 29th, 2019, approximately 8 weeks after we signed a contract with 8M Solar, we joined the solar revolution and broke a few chains that bound us to fossil fuel use. We have had a very good working experience 8M Solar and would recommend them without hesitation. We came to them via an organization called Energy Sage. Energy Sage is an online marketplace that submits your home profile to pre-screened installers for quotes. We received 3 quotes. We are fortunate to have a relative in a solar energy business who screened the quotes for us and was very positive about the 8M Solar proposal. After some back and forth emails and phone calls focused on understanding the warranty, we signed on. Solar installations involve quite a bit more than slapping panels on your home and tying them into your electrical system. There is permitting involving your electrical power provider [Duke Energy for us], your city or county, and in our case, a homeowners association. 8M was on top of this process from the beginning. They were always responsive to any questions or uncertainties we had. Even the day the panels were delivered to the end of our driveway [the deliveryman could not physically get them further up the driveway], I received an email asking if they need to send someone out to move them to a less inconvenient place. Throughout the installation process and electrical connection, as well as after this was completed, we have received the attention to all questions that we raised. Overall this has been about as seamless and flawless a process as could be expected. I would absolutely recommend this company.

Hands down the BEST solar company in the area! Other companies told me that they couldn't do what these guys did (in terms of number of panels on my roof). Great communication, excellent equipment, and awesome pricing! I could go on and on, but to make a long story short, just hire these guys; they'll take care of you!

Absolutely wonderful working with 8M Solar

We have a brand new 8+ KWh Solar Power system set up with required approvals from the town, HOA and Duke Energy. It's all done very smoothly with a solid project management support and multi-agency collaboration by 8M Solar team. Shahzaib and Ali collaborate with all the stakeholder agencies and organize all the steps very efficiently and effectively. The project proposal from 8M Solar was at the best price and is the ideal solar solution for my home. It's been absolutely wonderful working with 8M Solar team. I recommend them very highly.

I evaluated 12 solar companies in 7 days from two states(NC/VA) based on quote feedback, knowledge and size of system along with the type of panels and inverters. 8MSolar made the final cut. Their solar knowledge (Usman), project management and installation were terrific. You will not go wrong with this company. They managed the install with great detail, they let me know ever step from install, electrical, permits, payment, online signatures and rebates. The communication was key as they responded quickly when I had questions and/or concerns. These guys know what they are doing. Great experience and great service

It took me roughly 2 years to decide to go solar. I met with a company in front of Home Depot at first, had an appointment at my home and all of that. It can be overwhelming at first if you never read anything about solar energy. Everyone will try to tell you that cost wise is worth it but it is always better to do your own research. On my second year looking at this, I visited once again a Marketplace called EnergySage - a place where companies will compete to earn your business - it was the best thing I did. I've uploaded a previous quote there and I got some good offers and feedback. This is where 8MSolar stood out above their competition. You do not talk to a salesperson - you talk to the owner who is also a certified Engineer in this area. Usman will walk you through the process with all cards on the table. He did point out some mistakes from the quote I've uploaded into EnergySage - this same mistake was also pointed out by another company. 8MSolar took care of everything for me: paperwork for HOA approval, scheduling all milestones ahead of time, performing the job to my satisfaction, submitting my Duke Energy rebate form and answering any questions I had for them. Please, don't take my word for granted - do talk to at least 5 different companies and then reach out to 8MSolar.

Great experience

After an unpleasant experience with another installer that had an aggressive sales pitch and provided us with inconsistent and misleading information, we decided to explore other options. We set up a consultation with 8M Solar, and it was the exact opposite. We met with one of the owners (Usman) who is an engineer, not a salesperson. He was extremely knowledgeable and very upfront about everything - the technology, the installation process, working with the utility company, etc. The staff were very responsive and always pleasant to work with - our emails were always answered within a few hours, and they provided us with updates regularly. The installation went smoothly, and everything was finished in a day. Upon discovering that one of the panels was damaged during delivery, they immediately ordered a replacement panel and set up another appointment to install it. 8M Solar did a great job handling the inspection process and dealing with the utility company, including submitting our rebate application for us. We are very happy with our system and would definitely recommend 8M Solar to anyone who is interested in solar panels.

Best company to go with

I did a ton of research before deciding on which company to go with. Received a lot of quotes from both national and local companies, negotiated with them, got all of the information on what panels and equipment they install, warranties, etc. I could not find a better deal in terms of price and equipment than 8MSolar. They also are very easy to talk to and have a great staff. I couldn't have been happier with the communication or work done and I'm glad I found a local company that was so competitive and met everything I was looking for.

8MSolar is a fantastic team!

The 8MSolar team provided outstanding service, excellent price, fast install, and a great deal of passion and professionalism to our home solar project! I called 8M just before Thanksgiving hoping to have a system installed by the end of the year to take advantage of the home solar tax credit (requiring install by 31 Dec). For anyone that's familiar with the permitting requirements to install solar--HOA, city, energy provider--this was a dauntingly short timeline. Usman, Ali, and the 8M team jumped into action and made permitting painless, install simple, and a beautiful project come to fruition in an accelerated timeline. Simply put, do business with these guys! You won't regret it.

Couldn't be Happier with the Affordability & Responsiveness

My wife and I spent a solid month researching solar systems, which included vetting five companies. We went with 8m because of its professionalism, knowledge, helpfulness, eagerness, and affordability. After having our system up and running for a couple of weeks, we're 100 percent happy with our choice. Usman Noor at 8m thoroughly explained our timeline, which allowed me to know exactly what to expect at all times. Usman prides his company on the swiftness of their execution. While that was profound (8m met or bettered every timeline), I was most impressed with their availability. Any time -- no matter the day or time -- I had a question, I was able to call Usman's cell phone and he'd pick up with an answer ready. Shahzaib Khan handled a lot of the paperwork and he responded to every one of my emails immediately -- usually within minutes. Shahzaib also stayed on top of Duke Energy and other entities to make sure everything ran smoothly.

I'm thrilled with my new solar system from 8MSolar.

I'm thrilled with my new solar system from 8MSolar. They installed a 5.27 kW system in a single day and got it all the electricity hooked up. A few days later it was all inspected and given a green light! A few days after that I was connected to my power company and was generating electricity... I am able to monitor the system online to see how the system is operating (they keep an eye on it too from their location), and can even playback days to see each panels output.

I consulted with a few different solar installers, and 8MSolar definitely made me feel the most confident and offered a competitive price. Usman and his team were great throughout the process. The time from our initial conversation to the install was very quick, and the longest part of the process was post-install waiting for inspections and our meter replacement (which was out of their hands). Within the first day after we signed our contract, 8M was already working through the permitting process and designing our updated panel layout. They handled every step of the process, so we didn't have to contact the city or power company ourselves about anything. They also sent someone out to do a pathfinder analysis to get a granular idea of how much energy we could expect to generate based on the shade our roof gets throughout the year. I was impressed by the level of detail in their data, and it made me feel very confident with them as an installer. Communication with the team at 8MSolar was better than I'd expect from typical contractors. They were very responsive by email and phone, even on weekends when I didn't expect a response so quickly. We did run into an issue during the installation where the workers were putting on the rack based on an outdated design, but they were quick to fix that issue and patch up our roof like nothing happened. We also were given a discount off the install price for our troubles. Even though it was a mess up, that experience actually gave me more confidence in 8MSolar because they made it right. Overall I was very satisfied with my experience, and I'd definitely recommend 8MSolar to anyone looking for an install.

Uber Professionals

I had 8M Solar install a 12 kWh system at my home. They used attractive black-on-black high-efficiency panels, and top rated equipment (rack, power inverters, etc), all with the longest and most comprehensive equipment and service warranties available. It has been a pleasure working with them during the design and installation process and they installed months faster than anyone else could do it, setting me up to be able to apply early for the competitive local utility rebate program in North Carolina. I appreciate how the team of engineers thoughtfully approached my project and consulted with me—all except for one thing... The electrical lines and boxes were installed outside my home, over the gutters, when there was plenty of space in attics and the garage for these less than attractive components to be protected and out of sight. It’s not a big deal, but it does needlessly impact on the aesthetics of our home and I don’t see this on any other solar installations in the neighborhood. If you install a solar system, be forewarned and just ask your installer about this up front. If you chose 8M solar, and I recommend you do, they will offer the best system available for a competitive price, they have complete familiarity with the local state and city regulations, permitting, and utility approvals. They handled everything for the application/permitting for me and similarly will submit the utility rebate on my behalf. Unlike most service providers, these guys are responsive, accessible, and prompt. Really a pleasure working with them. No doubt if I had to do it again, I would hire 8M Solar again. I highly recommend this local outfit of folks who are passionate about what they do. Other outfits gave me incorrect information about how federal and utility company rebates are applied. The larger outfits have sales representatives, who are not electrical engineers or solar experts, whereas with 8M Solar, the person who sold me the system managed my entire project and was extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the project. This really makes a difference. Lastly, my real-time system specs are available with the Somar Edge app on my mobile device, which works seamlessly. And if I don’t feel like monitoring it myself I do because I am a data geek), it doesn’t matter because 8M Solar monitors my system on their end!
