Installed my solar panels through 8M. Loved it! My project manager Sal is on top of things and keeps me informed every step of the process. Installation crew knows what they are doing - completed the installation in a single day! The appearance of the panels also looks wonderful. My neighbors gave high complements.

After vetting many companies thru the Energy Sage app, I decided to hire 8M Solar, a local company out of Cary, NC. I was very happy w the whole process. At each step, from sales, financing, contractor implementations; to suggestions navigating HOA- 8M provides timely, professional advice. Even when I ran into some hiccups, w my solar loan, they were able to provide advice and assistance. The installation process was seamless, and the follow up was quite thorough.My only issue was that at the very end of the process they did a walk thru w a newbie that wasn’t quite as informative, but his boss showed later up to help him out. This is a little quibbling, since you can’t train people with a real life internship. Great company, highly recommend!

The Solar Company

Absoultely the dream team to work with - if you are going to go Solar (and you should..). 8M Solar professionals - Salman, Shahzaib, Usman, Luke, Brett et al are second to none and made the whole process extremely smooth and seamless. You are totally sheilded from all paper work and bureacracy that needs to happen behind the scenes. After installation, they have been very responsive to all the queries/questions and working with Duke to resolve issues including successful applying for Duke Rebate.

I was referred to 8M by a friend, and I've been very happy working with them. They've put a lot of care into helping me decide on the right system, and it's working great for me. I didn't have to fill out a lot of paperwork, and I never had to deal with the power company or local government. The whole project ran on schedule, and there has been very good communication throughout

We had a 12.24 kW solar panel installation performed by 8MSolar, and we could not be happier with the experience. Ours was a fairly large system for a residential install (34 Solaria XT 360 panels with SolarEdge optimizers and inverters and IronRidge rails and mounts). The price we paid was very reasonable compared to prices I have seen for similar installations on the market, and with a rebate from our local power company that 8MSolar helped us apply for, the payoff period for the whole system was brought down to a very reasonable time frame (estimated about 12-15 years). Because this installation occurred at the same time as we re-roofed our house, it was an especially complex process with several long delays on our part as we had to pick a new roofing material (our old cedar shake roof was rapidly degrading, so we took the opportunity to replace it with CeDUR artificial shakes), select a roofer, and then wait for our roofing materials while the factory caught up with back orders caused by COVID pandemic related delays in production. 8M had to coordinate with our roofer and our shake manufacturer in addition to the usual electricians, inspectors and utility personnel. The employees at 8M were gracious, helpful and accommodating throughout the entire process. The service of their personnel was first class, and the quality of their installation was also first rate. I would note three things that anyone considering putting solar panels on their roof should consider: 1) If you have a non-conventional roof (basically, anything which isn’t asphalt shingles) make sure you have a knowledgeable roofer inspect your roof prior to contracting with a solar contractor. A well intentioned solar contractor may not recognize the signs that your old roof may not hold up well during the installation process. In our case, 8M’s roofer recognized a problem with our roof that we were not aware of. Further inspection of the roof resulted in a decision to re-roof the house before proceeding with the install. I was very pleased that 8M brought this issue to our attention, because we were not aware of it and I think other contractors would have just gone ahead and done the installation so they could get paid quickly. 8M alerted us to the problem, and then gave us time to fix it properly. They even coordinated with our roofer and shake manufacturer to optimize the installation vis-a-vis the new roofing material. They definitely went above and beyond here! 2) If you live in an area with lots of natural wildlife, consider adding critter screens to your installation! A bird moved under our panels within a week of installation. It was noisy as heck at night, and there was concern it might damage the wiring. 8M came back on a weekend to get some very discreet screens installed (SolaTrim), and we have been critter free since. 3) Be patient. Solar installation companies are in high demand (that's a good thing!). Having the right frame of mind definitely helps!

Pleased throughout the process!

From the time we started getting quotes until Duke installed the "two-way meter", we were supported by 8M. Even with a pandemic, we met virtually with the sales person who did numerous iterations due to the education and question-answering they did. We started our with yard install only to have our roof-mount without holes done. They identified a serious roof issue that would have been a crisis had they not discovered it. We are thankful for their product and service.

Thorough and Professional

I had several quotes on a solar system for my house. By far, 8M solar had the most knowledgable salesman who took the time to review my house layout in person, and to insure I understood all aspects of the quote. Because of the extensive knowledge of the sales person and answering frequent phone calls I had, I decided to go with 8M. The installation design and layout was well thought out. Having been a consultant for large utility plants, I was particularly concerned the wiring was up to professional standards. My installation was done to my satisfaction, and I have to say I m picky when it comes to wiring. I found the staff prompt in returning calls, and on-time when scheduling work to be done. They also completely handled all necessary permits, state and local nd those required by the power company. I also inquired about extra equipment I was going to purchase and their response let me know they were not there to make as much money as they could, but truly cared that I was getting the most bang for my money I spent. I feel confident in recommending 8M to other residential owners and professionals needing a reliable and solidly designed system. These guys can get the job done;

8MSolar did excellent work in installing Solar panels at our home. They gave us the best price, were very professional, and did everything on time. But best of all is the customer service during and after the work is done. They not only kept us informed of the progress but continued to follow up after the work was completed and made sure everything is working well.

Pleasant process to get a solar system

I didn't know much about a residential solar system and how to get one installed. I learned some basics from EnergySage website and received 4 bids at their website including 8M Solar's. I also contacted several other local solar companies. Bryce from 8M was very clear about the processes, system size, solar panels, rebates/tax credits, and pricing for various options. After comparing 8 bids for a same size system, I choose 8M that offered the latest model panels and explained the steps and timeline of getting the system installed. They followed it in a timely fashion. Installation was done very professionally and in less than 8 hours. I have been using the system for a month now and very happy with it! It was pleasure to work with Bryce, Sal, Luke and their partner Zuber electric.

They made everything painless and completed installation within hours of the date of my choice. They were also a great resource for receiving the federal tax credit and Duke energy rebates.

8M Solar for the WIN!

Worked with 8M Solar and had a 10.23 kW solar system installed last fall Every step of the process was seamless- very professional, always on time, responsive to all our questions. Our electric bill with Duke has gone from an average of $170 per month to $16 for the last couple of months. Our goal was to provide about 93% of our power. The online monitoring system is also very helpful. We had talked to 4 other solar companies but felt that 8M provided the best value for the cost-both in product and personnel!

Top of Class Solar Installation

8MSolar was very efficient in providing a competitive estimate, creating a plan, obtaining the appropriate permits, and completing the installation in a very timely fashion. 8M Solar, Cary NC office

For me to take the time to write a company review a company needs to be really, really bad or really, really good. 8M falls into the latter category. 8M was the lowest bid for my solar project. They were honest and up front all the way through the project. They took care of dealing with my HOA and securing all permits needed. They listened to me and worked with me throughout the whole process. They got the job done on the agreed upon time. Their crew and representatives were respectful and cleaned up after themselves. I like the fact they have a local office to deal with and look forward to working with them in the future. I was one of those caught up in Duke Energy’s web-site crash the morning of January 2nd, 2020. I was initially put on a wait list, which translated to, “I would not be getting my NC Solar Rebate”. Duke Energy offered very little help in straightening out the mess their web-site caused by failing during my (and countless other individuals) application process. The first Duke Energy rep. I reached out to was actually quite rude to me. Usman Noor and his team worked effortlessly in helping me to eventually secure my promised rebate. Something they would have not had to do at all, since the project was completed and they were paid. I would strongly recommend them for your solar project.

I used EnergySage as a first look into Solar power for our home. Of the 3 bids received 8M Solar seemed to have the best price/performance ratio and so I scheduled a sit-down and ultimately went with them for installing a system. From the beginning in-home analysis they seemed to have their act together. They were able to assess the effectiveness of the system by modeling some tall trees, vary the implications of this throughout the year, and even do take random scenarios from me and perform an analysis right there, the level of simulation expertise was quite commendable. The installation itself (47 panels) was all done in a single day with 1 crew installing panels and 1 electrical crew installing the cabling, inverter, and connecting into my existing power panel. Everyone on the job knew well what they were doing, no one seemed to be just there as just “help". Once the system was approved, I turned it on and started monitoring. As I became familiar with the system, the app, and everything working I had some detailed technical and electrical questions. As an electrical engineer myself theses were related to how and why certain aspects of the system were done the way they were. As with all other questions I had during the process, I was in contact with someone within 24 hours, and in this case it was with the professional engineer that designed my system. He was able to answer my specific technical questions and in the end I agreed that the design was logical. The only real area of improvement I could suggest was that they could provide some afterj-installation training on the app and WEB interfaces so the homeowner that wants to look into details would understand how best to do it. An after installation sit-down for 30 minutes or so would be beneficial for the customer I think and provide a good basis for end of the job feedback. But other than that, these folks were top notch and I would highly recommend. One side note here also, one of the 4 potential vendors for this job had actually responded that our house was inadequately situated and had too many trees for use of solar panels and no bid. At about a month using the system I can tell you that averaging yearly monthly usage, the panels are providing this KWh avg monthly level in like 20-25 days (meaning I’m basically selling back to Duke 5-10 day of power every month (again, on average). The moral being, not everyone in this business knows what they are doing… 8M Solar does. In summary, every aspect of my interaction with 8M Solar has been top notch. Installation was clean and fast, system operation is above expectations so far, and the personal interaction is top notch. Make sure you start YOUR investigation with these guys.

Our family is so grateful and happy that we went solar with 8MSolar. Every step on the way was simple, throughout explained, and showing us that the professionals from 8MSolar know what they are doing, from first on-site meeting over installation, meeting timeline, paperless procedure, follow-up calls, customer service as well as after installation care, they treat customers like royals, and stand behind their mission. Excellent Solar Install

I am very pleased with 8MSolar as the installer of my 15kW solar panel system. All the way through the process the 8MSolar team was responsive and informative. The electrical crew came and finished in one day, and did a fine job. Seemed very experienced. The installation crew also completed the panel installs in one day, again, very experienced. I spoke at length with both teams and they accommodated all my questions and shared knowledge freely. Very satisfied with both teams. The project management coordinator was excellent. Competent in all areas. Always available. There was never a delay or excuse, when 8MSolar said they would have it done, they did it. In the beginning of the purchase process, I visited the 8MSolar office and spent an hour with the owner discussing the proposal. He showed me all the material they would be using, and we went over some solar power calculations and estimates of power. He is very authentic and I was confident that 8MSolar would do the job well.

Great job!

We had 50 panels installed on our roof last fall. One never knows when you say go if you will regret the decision. Sure everyone has pictures but what about the details that the pictures don't show. How good is their work? Well from the moment we said yes the process was seamless from electronic signatures, constant updates re. the permitting process, to proposed layouts with my input on where I wanted conduit runs to reduce them being seen, to scheduling the actual install. I felt informed the entire way. When the day came for the install I was introduced to the project leaders on site and they explained their roles and how the project would unfold. This is a house I designed and built so I am very anal about how how things should look and work. I was blown away by the attention to making straight conduit runs, their perfectly lining up all the panels, and how well everything was labeled. Both the electrician and install crew were amazing and did great work. Every question I've had has been addressed and I even received a step by step guide for how to submit the Duke energy rebate information complete with what to put in every space. I would not hesitate to use 8M Solar again or recommend them to my friends. This is a first class group of guys and I'm enjoying using the app they provided to watch my savings grow each day.

I was referred to 8msolar by a friend who initially spoke to Usman for group installation. It turned out to be a great experience choosing 8M solar for my project . Usman gave me the best quote around and also explained the proposed system and installation process in detail. Salman addressed all of my questions on design , aesthetics , installation and accommodated some changes in layout of the panel array in roof as well . Installation of system was on time and everything was handled with at-most professionalism by the entire crew . Kudos to Shahzaib for handling all paperwork for permitting , duke interconnection and HOA approval , he also kept me informed with each step of the project as it moved through . I never felt left alone of not knowing what is going on the 3 months it took from start to finish working with 8M solar team . The permitting, engineering and installation were both completed per my expectations and I am very happy with the end project, 8M even helped me with a step by step instruction list to get the Duke Rebate which I have now received.
