wow... I am surprisingly pleased with my experience at Saveco. I had gathered several quotes and was about to sign with a company - then Saveco surprised me with a custom video going over the Consumer Protection Guide. After speaking to the salesman - Paul - I realized there were things I overlooked. He gave me some very useful tools and information to do more thorough research on what I wanted and what system would be best for me. After going through that process, I knew I didn't want anyone else installing my solar but Saveco! I've been pleased with the system so far.

I met with Charles after talking to another company. I wanted to have the panels a certain way because I was worried about the way they were going to look. He was able to customize the system the exact way I wanted and at a price that was cheaper than the other guys. Everything went the exact way it was explained and I couldn't be happier!

Solar Star DBA Vegas Solar is gr, over 1 month
Solar Star DBA Vegas Solar had the largest capacity of all the quotes that I received. They also had the most economical price. They took care of all the permits including the HOA. Coordinated with NV Energy. Provided link to the monitoring site so I can see what is being produced by the hour as well as historical records. Could not be happier.

Rooftop Solar Installation and maintenance

We are fortunate to know of Shawn O'Meara's expertise regarding solar panels. We had Shawn and his employees install rooftop solar in 2010. The installation process was explained to us and completed in an efficient manner. Since that time, Shawn has demonstrated commitment in helping us to maintain our system. We are very relieved to have Shawn back in business with Aspen Electric and Solar. We experienced difficulty obtaining honest and affordable estimates, from other solar companies, when our solar system had to be removed and replaced due to a re-roofing job. We are very happy to know that we now have a reliable, experienced, easy to communicate with professional when we have electrical and solar needs.

- Wayne and Cory Avery
Reno, NV

Our roof was just finished by Allegiant Electric and the team there was great. Anthony and Edwin kept us apprised every day as to the status and what was going on and when they would be finished. We're very happy with the work that they did and overall Allegiant Electric has done a great job communicating with us during the entire process. We financed the solar under a loan program that Allegiant Electric has and our monthly payment is less than our current NV Energy bill! Total no brainer for us.

To start, we did not receive the product we purchased. We originally used ION solar because two of our neighbors had used ION for their solar installation and were happy with the product and process. Based on how the product looked on their homes, and also their feedback we went with ION. Our sales person also showed us the same product installed on our neighbors’ houses in his sales presentation, very specifically mentioning what we liked most about it. We really loved that it was going to look like one big panel without spaces in between the panels, and had a frame around the outside, making it look complete and really professional. However, the actual installation on our house it turns out, is individual panels on a rail system which look entirely different and sloppy. There are spaces between all the panels, and there is no frame at all. We could not believe it-as that had never been discussed as an option on our installation. We are so disappointed in how the panel system looks based on what we were sold. Secondly, none of ION’s many “teams” communicate well together. This process was painful the whole way, and we had to repeat things or tell them in the process what was next based on talking to so many people in different “teams”, many times in the same phone call. Scheduling team, utilities team, installation team, customer service team, etc. None of them discussed things in person with those actually out here working which maybe could have made a difference. So many times we got repeat phone calls to schedule something that we already had done, or was already on the calendar. We had too many instances where we had to have someone come back out for something to be fixed. At least once, we booked a 3 hr time slot for work to be done, and verified it on the phone, but the workers were given a different 3 hr time slot on their schedule, which is not fun for anyone and led to us being angry about taking time off work to let people come do work in the house, who were expecting to come at a different time. On top of that, there are some workers who don’t have the best trade knowledge working in the houses. (Most of them don’t fit in that category, but on more than one occasion it was obvious that some do). For instance we had damage inside our house (a light dropped from our kitchen ceiling) because a worker was not careful inside our attic walking, and that had to be repaired. Secondly, the first electrician who did our installation showed up two hours late when I was told he was 15 minutes out, and did not do work that passed city inspection. This delayed our system finalization by 5-6 more weeks in order to get ION to get another electrician out to fix the work, and get a repeat city inspection that passed. Every time there was a delay in work due to a problem, or something needing to be fixed, we had to reach out to the company, as they took days to weeks to reach out to us if we waited. We are disappointed and would NOT recommend ION.

I recently retired in a large home and was trying to reduce monthly electrical bills (Average $1,500.00 - $1,750.00 per month). I received 3 quotes before I met Mark. He provided with a quick estimate and a written quote. 2 weeks later my meeter was moving backwards even after I added an electric poll heater, and air conditioned my garage. I wish all contractors were as fair and quick as Today's Energy Store.

From a household that had 4 jobs, we went down to ZERO. I can honestly say if it wasn't for the care that Lucas and Carissa gave us, we would have never gone solar. And now that we did go solar, we're great ful because having no power bill reduced stress and the tax credit we got literally floated us for a few months. I had to write the review, thank you guys again! Phil

Decided in about Sep of 2019 to finally order a solar PV intertied system. Incredibly, they were able to complete the proposal, design and engineering work, permits and install before the end of the year, all in about 3 months time. If you've ever done re-modeling work with permits, you can appreciate that this is a very timely install! This involves multiple parties, city permit department (about a month just for the city), and the power utility company. From their sales rep, to the project manager, to the install crew - IWS was easy to reach throughout the process, to answer any questions. The install crew and electrician were great too. We had to wait until the first week of January to turn on the system but that was because the local power company had to update the software in our power meter and they had a delay due to the Christmas and New Year's holiday. Once that was done, we just flipped a switch and the solar PV was in operation. Our system is producing almost exactly the amount of power it was designed to do, and what we expected. Because we are very economical with our power usage, we are net positive to the power company for now. But that means we have the right amount to also recharge a future EV car. Our home is in Redmond, Oregon - and was installed by the crew out of Boise.

These guys are great. Everyone we worked with from sales to installation was great. The equipment they installed was top notch. They provide information that answers every question all through the process. They installed just what we needed to get the best solar value from our electric provider. We investigated many companies before going with Hedgehog, and we still feel we chose the best. Funny name but great service. I recommend them to anyone looking to do solar.

The reviews scores for the largest solar companies are far worse than those for local, family-owned solar installation companies.
The best solar companies meet the following criteria:
The solar industry is full of fly-by-night solar companies — both big and small — that open one year and are gone the next.
Solar panels last for 25-30 years, so you want an installer who will help you with any problems or system faults. For this to happen, your installer needs to be able to stay in business
Local solar companies, as a group, have the highest reviews score on our site and also have lower overheads than corporate installers, making them more likely to survive in the long term.
