YSG Solar

We're the house owners and YSG installed solar panels for us in 2015. However, they never closed out the open permit with the Town of Oyster Bay. Right now we are trying to sell our house but can't close because they failed to complete their job properly. We will be asked to take out $10-20k to put in escrow if we want to close while trying to get this resolved. When we reached out to YSG, we were told that this wasn't their priority. This company has no accountability and credibility. Do not trust them.

Unfortunately we used YSG solar to install solar Pannel for us in two phase; and after finishing they are not responding to email/call for any service question and we need to find other company to take care of our system now. Never ever recommend using this company, be careful what you put yourself in by choosing them and I found a lot of problem with our roof due to their installation and anyone goes to my roof is shock with the way they did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My solar system stopped working and now I can't get in contact with them. (Called for months and emailed them)Use another solar company if you don't want future headaches. I had issues with YSG for years, especially with the passing of permits and things related to the DOB. (Took a whole year and prob would not have been done if i did not get involved with numerous contacts to the DOB) My consumption meter stopped working a year ago and they refused to fix it, they offered to send me a check to have someone else fix it but it's been a year and still no check with multiple follow ups. Now my solar panels are no longer working and I am stuck with no support. I'm a person that never likes to leave a bad review, because i don't believe in reputation shaming. But YSG definetly deserves the 1 star. Stay away from YSG. Wish I never did business with them. NO INTEGRITY WHATSOEVER.

David Magid and his company YSG solar has been dragging their feet and avoiding an install of SONNEN battery for my residence. It's been 4 plus years of false promises, shady work and unqualified people trying to patch up a totally dysfunctional business. Please don't do any business with YSG solar. If there was negative rating available --- YSG SOLAR is a perfect candidate to get one.

Unlike many of the horrible reviews (posted literally everywhere), we actually did get our system fully installed by YSG Solar, and even with **their two years of delays (and two failures) for the electrical inspections**, I was willing to let bygones by bygones since we had a working system at the end of it all. Promises were not kept, but we didn't want to keep fighting and we thought we were set since the contract literally states that all major hardware had a 25 year labor and performance warranty from the manufacturer. How foolish we were to trust this company. Last month, our system just stopped working (no power generation at all), and after looking at the inverter (the brains of the solar system), it was very clearly a HW issue with it (literally, the inverter states "Error 18xB7 HW ERROR). So we naively thought we could get ahold of YSG Solar to work through the warranty process. However, after two weeks of constantly being ignored (through dozens of calls and multiple emails) I went straight to the inverter manufacturer, and that's when everything went from bad to worse. What we received was not a 25 year, manufacturer-warrantied, labor and performance-included system, but a 12 year parts-only inverter warranty. We've had to manually set up the RMA, and it will cost us two grand(!!!) to have someone else install the inverter. What's worse, YSGSolar still refuses to talk to us at all, and it was only after the BBB stepped in that we even got any response at all (and of course, the response was basic lies and fake "let us know how we can help" offers that they have no intention of following through with. We now have to pay that $2000, AND file for arbitration, AND deal with zero support at all, even after having been promised 25 years of peaceful power generation. They do not follow through with any of their promises, and after reading everything else others have stated, I find it an unexpected blessing that at least we're not in a worse state. In the end, the only nice thing I could say at this point is that if I could rate them negative stars, I would probably still only rate them zero stars instead of negative, but that's only because we got lucky and somehow our system actually got completed. But their false promises and lack of support will screw you over if you use YSGSolar, so don't. Save your money and go with another installer.

For the past two years I have been saving and question I have they always answer. I don't regret this decision I made by switching to solar panels. Customer service was a great experience.

I got ysg to install my Lg solar panels about a year ago. I have no complaints what so ever and I highly recommend to any one who would like to save on their electrical bill. The customer service was very efficient and professional from start to finish.

You Save Green solar has been the best choice I made. The Installation process was smooth. The staff was very respectful and very professional. I Highly recommend them if you want to save green.

I purchased the REC solar panel for my home in Queens back in July and I DO NOT regret my decision at all. I have not had any issues with the equipment or installment. It has been the best money I ever spent. They were affordable and beat competitor prices.

I Recently purchased the Panasonic Solar and the work that was done was outstanding . I am very pleased with the process and the money i saved with their offer . The construction was quick and simple with no issues whatsoever . Saving Energy never felt so good

YSG solar did some work for me in Brooklyn and I must say I was extremely pleased with work and professionalism. The process was easy, simple & efficient. I would definitely be using them for any further work in the near future.

They installed our panels in April 2022. Is is December 31 2022 and we still are paying ConEd. We have hired lawyers and they are not even responding to the lawyers. They promised our lawyers in October that they would be reimbursing us for part of the cost and we have heard nothing since. We have called the permit office in Yonkers and they have never received any paperwork or permitting from YSG. This company is a total fraud and disgraceful. NEVER USE THEM!!!!!!

These company is a big scammer. They rob you and leave you. Everyone should contact their local attorney General and file complain. Most of all contact Consumer Affairs. Chelsea, Ken, Raymond, Nadia, all of them are scammers. Be extremely careful…….find another company

They are big fraud. They talk big to get you to commitment and than the fun part $$ as soon as you pay them, they forget about you. They dont pick up the phone. Don't believe me. Try your self call their main number and see. Most of the review are done by them with 5 star. The real review are the one with 1 star. The company YSG SOLAR AND ALPHA SOLAR is same company. They change name to deceive people. Be careful. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY.

KEN AND HIS TEAMS ARE FRAUD... AVOID THEM AT ALL COST IF YOU LOVE YOUR MONEY !! they will LIE to you to get your business and once you sign up they make you call the bank to get the funding approved after they HANG YOU TO DRY. system will not connect so basically you have solar that is out of order. WARNING DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS SCAM COMPANY!!! LOOK AT MY SCREENSHOTS!!! You're going to get stuck paying for a system that doesn't work I can promise you that! My solar system has been in need of repair since March 2022 (now August 30th 2022). Pigeons even made a home under the solar equipment installed on the roof because the technicians improperly installed the critter guards. I have a long email of back and forth to prove my claim and of course the long history report of my actual solar system. YSG Solar IS A SCAM! Look at all these fake accounts giving high praise to what is really a SCAM company. 99% of the reviewers here have less than 3 total reviews. Here's a few examples of the many outrageous excuses to not come out and repair my warranted system (screenshots attached): *MAY 31, 2022* FROM: Chelsea Watson-Operations Manager Hi Ashek, Our crew lead just came back after losing a baby and we are working on scheduling all of our service visits now, I will send you a date asap for when they can come troubleshoot. Thanks for following up, we can hopefully get someone there in the next 10ish days. *JULY 21, 2022* FROM: Chelsea Watson-Operations Manager "I'm really sorry to hear about the pigeons. I wasn't aware that the critter guards were left off, I will make sure the crew clears the pigeon homes out and replaces the critter guards when they come to reset the rapid shutdown. Our crew lives together in a big dorm and all have Covid for the second time this year. As soon as they come back, your home will be the first that I send them to. Thank you for being understanding, I realize this can be very frustrating. I look forward to wrapping this up for you."

DO A FAVOR TO YOUR SELF, STAY AWAY OF THIS COMPANY. There is nothing good about this company. Most of the reviews here are thier own, look at their google reviews, you will find the real pictures. The promised solar will up and running within 6 to 8 weeks. It's been 18 weeks they installed the panels, No inspection, no solar power. They do not feel the responsibility to reply email, phone call goes to voice mail. I have to send email, text and call then might be getting any answer. And answer is excuse. Project manager even do not bother to give me any update. Every month making the payment for useless panels on my roof. What worse it can get!!

My wife and I went back and forth for probably a good 3 years before holding our breath and finally pulling the trigger on solar. We were inspired by the uncertainty of the pandemic, as well as getting very close (too close for comfort.....) to retirement age and wanting one less bill to worry about. We also wanted to take advantage of the Fed/State incentives before our tax liabilities disappear almost entirely. We ended up meeting Ken from YSG at a trade show last Spring and went back and forth with a few proposals before deciding on a system that gave us a little extra wiggle room if we add some appliances later on. Ken was able to have our roof measured remotely and give us the proposal via phone/email. This was important to my wife as she never wants to say no to anyone's face, lol. Luckily, we decided to say yes and signed a contract in Oct 2021. By the second week in November our 8.2kw system was installed, and connected to Con Ed by the second week in December. I wanted to wait until the summer production months to leave a review and am happy to report that my Con Ed bill has a substantial energy bank of KWH credits even this early into summer. We are extremely satisfied, the process was smooth/transparent and all I wish was that we did it sooner. I was also happy that we chose one of the smaller companies, although response time can be 12 hours longer than a company with a big call center, I also know I can speak directly with a human being who knows the details of my project. Would recommend YSG to friends.

At first everything seemed to be going well and signed a contract on 12/15/22. I liked the proposal and the design it was of a better quality then others. The building permit was initially filed in March 2022. The Greenburgh building department asked for some more details in the drawing. I was told 1 month later that the permit was applied for again. After over a month, YSG did not know what the status of the permit was. I checked with the building department, and was told no permit was filed. I asked YSG what the was going on, and they said the business was acquired by Alpha Solar Group and the documents got lost in the shuffle and it would be taken care of right away. Two weeks later, I was told my installation date would be in 1 month on July 27th. The next day I checked again with the building department, and found that no permit was filed. I was told that they had an insurance issue, and would not bed able to file a permit for 30 to 45 days. On June 30th I spoke to the sales rep, Ken Decicco, and notified him that I am cancelling the contract for non performance, and requested a full refund. I also notified Chelsea at operations, requesting delivery notices and return receipts, neither of which were received. I paid YSG $11724 and have nothing for it.

The installation of my system went smoothly. The electrical inspection took a few tries, but it went through. The final sign-off by the Dept of Buildings took over 3 years of repeated calls and inquiries. Delay seemed to be due to an issue between YSG and their expediter. It was unclear to me why I had to be so involved. Big problem has been that my electric production has averaged only 55% of what YSG's proposal predicted. Before I signed on with them, YSG assured me they would be there to help resolve any issues after the sale. They told me their production estimates were conservative so as not to disappoint customers. But this customer has been disappointed. And YSG has completely ignored my repeated calls, emails, and letters asking for help in trying to figure out why the production is so low. I would not recommend YSG.

I’ve compared four different solar companies from the start, finally I decided to have YSG as my solar energy saving company. YSG have professional staffs that setting up everything for me from scratch to the completion! Everything thing was so smooth, I am waiting for the final inspection, even though it was a little bit long for the inspection! But their service is very good ! I would highly recommend!

System is up and running with out problems. In 8 months I'm about 800KwHs ahead. The cost was reasonable and they were willing to do a flat roof which many other companies were not. It took a while to get installed and get con-ed approval but I'm sure covid did not help with that. As to the bad reviews - Check everything out as much as you can just keep on top of everything/everyone and you should be OK.

Professional and courteous. Made the process easy. From permits to install and follow up this company knows what their doing. Was very happy with their sales, install and customer service staff! Highly reccomended!

Find another solar company! I’ve had YSG panels for about 5 years. My electric bill went down approx $50 in the winter months. And INCREASES every summer. When I call (3 times a year) for an explanation, or to UNDERSTAND what is going wrong I’m spoken to like “a crazy lady”. But when my husband calls it’s all “yes sir, no sir, we will figure it out sir” Only then to have no one return calls. This company is run like a frat house.

One word describe the full team at YSG. Especially Kennith. Very knowledgable and professionalism. The team did my solar which was great from start to finish. The inspection was A one. If you need quality work than look no further but YSG.

We were fraudulently induced into entering a contract with a $2000 rebate and after installation, we contacted them for the rebate and we were told that the salesperson no longer works there and they wouldn't honor the rebate that he promised us in writing. Filed a complaint with the NYS Attorney General Consumer Frauds Unit and the Better Business Bureau.

Did my research and in 2010 had a 5K system installed. Worked flawlessly. Recieved all the rebates and the systems savings paid for my out of pocket costs in under 3 years as promised. My install was fast, professional and its still saving me money everyday.

My brother recommended YSG Solar. Once i got in contact with Ken he made the entire process very smooth. No hassle at all. The guys came in installed the panels and are very professional. I highly recommend YSG

Good customer service

So I used this company on the recommendation of a friend and I absolutely regret it. Now I know this review is coming a few years too late but finally got around to doing it. I had the system installed in February 2018. The original design of the system was for 22 300 watt panels with the solaredge 7600 watt inverter making it a 6.6kwh peak system. Due to my house having a flat roof they would of had to put 2 panels on the lower roof so to keep it looking symmetrical we agreed to add 2 more panels to the system which should have made it a 7.2kwh peak system. Install went fairly smooth only issue was the installers left a mess in my basement, not a huge issue but unprofessional. Once we got into summer I started noticing my system is clipping at 5kwh. I found this odd considering the system size. I look at the inverter on my house and notice its not the size that was supposed to be put on. They installed the solaredge 5000 watt inverter. I brought this up to the company numerous times and was basically blown off every time and fed lines of crap as to why that inverter was put on. Fast forward to 2019 and we started getting a leak in the ceiling in my youngest kids room. YSG sent their roofer out to look at it and confirmed it was from the install. YSG only wanted to patch the spot on the roof. After arguing with them the agreed to remove the system and WE paid to have the roof replaced that they messed up. After the roof was replaced we fought with them for about another month to get the panels reinstalled. They kept canceling appointments, and one of the appointments we had the installers never came but aparently(according to them) had actually come and finished the job. Obviously a lie because the panels were still pulled up in front of my garage, oh and I couldn't use my garage this whole time because where the panels where. I do not recommend this company. They promise you one thing and don't deliver. Oh and I had talked to the owner of the company that installed my father's solar system and he confirmed what I already new which is that they under powered my system with the smaller inverter. Do yourself a favor and stay away.

Kudos to YSG Solar for powering trough and completing the project during the COVID year. Ken, who was the point man and guided us through the whole process, was very responsive and attentive. The design team took my input and the advice from the roofer. Roofer was great. The install team was fast and clean (wore masks at all times). System was online in no time. Great communication throughout. YSG offered a deal with all whistles and bells so it was an easy choice.

I had a great experience working with YSG Solar. Everyone I dealt with was very friendly and helpful. The project manager I worked with answered every question from start to finish and I truly felt like he was always listening/looking out for my best interests.

YSG Where do I from? My Awful Experience with YSG began back in February 2020. After numerous of phone calls with Kenneth, the sales associate, pushing to sign the contract to have YSG install my solar. Upon our conversation he promised that the system will be fully installed before April of 2020 which of course it never happened because YSG doesn’t have installers. FYI, YSG sublease their contracts, which means you are not dealing with installers that directly work with them. Finally, they scheduled dates in June of 2020, I would call out of work, but they would not show up for various excuses. This occurred three times! Finally, they showed up the second week in July, when they came they were unprepared missing many equipment and material. And to top it all, they didn’t have a master electrician on site. I have contacted Kenneth, and requested to have the master electrician on site, he claimed that the electrician has a flat tire and they were going to send him an Uber, and of course that was another story, the electrician never showed up. The biggest problem was when the installers went on the top of my roof and began drilling, realized that the drawing that YSG provided was inaccurate and at this point was too late. YSG, claims that they get the best 4K satellite drawing of anyone’s roof which is incorrect because they had to modify the drawing to place the panels, which I felt bad for the installers since I wanted to get this project over with since it’s been taking too long. Installers would have to run to Home Depot and to the warehouse constantly and multiple times for missing equipment throughout the day, as a result, the projects continues to be delayed. Installers came approximately 6-7 times including the time when I was away, and completed the project without notifying me so that I would release the loan money to them. The procedure for opening up loans, which YSG is most concerned about this, the only THING they will harass you for. They run your credit twice to apply for a loan from a company called Green Sky, this money, they use to buy their equipments. Then , they will run your credit again by Service finance, and they will tell you that you have 18 months without any interest, which they will HARASS you until you make the validation phone call so the money is released to them. DON’T MAKE THAT MISTAKE which I did, unfortunately!!!! You are releasing the full money to YSG, without passing inspection, which it failed the first time, which occurred October 2020. The panels were up on the roof without being connected from August 10, 2020. After a conference call with CEO of the company (David), which I will tell you all about my experience with him. David is the owner of the company, he will get involved when you call up your loan companies as you contact them to let them know that the project is incomplete and you wouldn’t want to release the money. After researching different Solar companies I am absolutely satisfied with the decision I made choosing YSG Solar for the installation of my solar panels! YSG Solar was responsive and helpful from the time I first called, through our decision-making process, and throughout the planning and installation of our system. Kenneth DeCiccio went over all of my options and answered every question I had no matter what time of day I called. He was very helpful and efficient!! My installation went smoothly and as planned. YSG did a terrific job with our Solar Installation at our home in Scarsdale NY. They worked with us during the design phase and gave us a very competitive price! Installation went without a hitch! System works really well, and they keep an eye on it for any hick ups! My only further suggestion is to consider installing back up batteries with your system! It’s like having a generator during emergencies, and we had plenty in the recent past with ConEd!

YSG is a great company with very helpful and very professional staff. All their staffs were very accomodating and helpful. I had to wait to get the net meter from Con-Edison so I was missing out on the benefit of solar for a while, but YSG helped me without any second thought. YSG's installation looks much better on my roof than what other companies did for my neighbors. I highly recommend YSG.

I chose YSG out of more than a half a dozen other solar contractors. They had good online reviews and I liked their warranties. I also liked the fact that they used Panasonic solar panels which as high quality and have their own limited warranty. So in case of anything I can get anyone to take a look at the panels. The project didn't go baby smooth. There were a few bumps along the way. The panels were up on my roof by the end of November 2019 but didn't get going until June 2020. However this is more to do with life as we know it shutting down for a few months because of COVID. This delayed inspections and electrical tie ins by the utility company. The were professional and responsive. As I said there were a few hiccups during the project. Getting people scheduled and at my house was an issue but it was mostly because of the perfect pandemic we went through. I had an electrical issue in my breaker panel after installation. They came in and resolved everything. The inspection and sign offs went smoothly as well. So long story short they are a good choice for going to solar. The project wasn't completely seamless but nothing in construction goes seamless. The end result is I have a great system and a great price and worked with a great company.

YSG solar is an excellent company to work with for solar panels addition project for my home. My home is a flat roof building and upon contacting several solar companies that operate in the area, every one of them told me that they could not provide me with the type of solar project that I needed - which is to provide the capacity to supply approximately 120% of my annual electric use. YSG solar step up to the plate and was the only company who knows how to do this. These other solar companies told me that due to my flat roof, they cannot do the installation based on the solar panel technology that they are using plus they are not licensed to do flat roof additions. All of these was not an issue for YSG solar. I was able to work with YSG solar very smoothly with very little involvement from me with the duration of the whole project. My only involvement was to sign off on the solar panels addition project documents. YSG solar was able to add a 5KW solar panel system and today the project is completed and working as designed. The whole project was a smooth turn-key operation to which I am grateful for. I would like to extend kind regards to Ed Murray and Ken DeCicco of YSG solar for for their excellent project management skills shown during the duration of the project. Gentlemen, thank you!

I would never recommend this company. They over promised and under delivered. It took them almost a year to complete the installation. Most of the things they promised they could do, never happened. Our roof started leaking after the panels were installed. We had to pay someone to uninstall and reinstall the panels and even though we agreed to pay for this service they cannot find someone to reinstall our panels. They do not have employees, they are just the middle man. The subcontractors they use are terrible. They never seem to know what they are doing. They have keep coming back to redo the same work over and over.
