YellowLite

YellowLite installed 15 solar panels for our home in November of 2025. Everyone gave me good technical advice and answered all of my questions. The installation team did a very good job installing the panels and the techs were able to get Ohio Edison to come out in December to install a new electric meter. My electric bill was supposed to drop by 49%, but it looks like it's going to be much more that. My billing statement this month said my next month payment amount adjusted to match my actual usage will be $42.00. Last August 2025 my July usage bill was $439.16. This amount was double my usual bill and prompted my to call YellowLite the same company two friends of mine used and the Jefferson St. Oasis Community Garden. I also received the the 30% tax rebate from the IRS since the solar panels were installed prior to 31 December 2025 deadline! Very Respectfully, Gene Springfield, OH 45504

The team at Yellowlite has been fantastic. As an inquiring "Newbie" to solar, I had a great number of questions and concerns. Yellowlite always quickly responded to my questions with clear easy-to-understand answers. Their installation crew was professional and efficient. And, to my great joy, my first utility bill was significantly reduced! I recommend Yellowlite completely with no reservations.

The YellowLite team did a great job for myself and one of my neighbors, we installed similar systems at similar times and each had a good experience. The team was easy to work with and thoughtful and even made sure to not let the cat out when they had to wrap up while I was out of the house. I am very pleased with how the system looks and how they handled the install and city paperwork and so on. You should use them!

BUYER BEWARE- Written Promises Made Were Not Kept

Buyer beware. Ultimately this project was a bait and switch. Sales over promised and design could not deliver on the proposed system. I spent more than 2 months attempting to understand what the changes yellowlite made to the design and function of the system were. By the time I finally got answers on that it was clear the project could not be delivered on as promised by sales at the pricing which was quoted due to end of federal solar subsidies. 2 months I tried to work in good faith with this company to find something which was agreeable to both myself and Yellowlite. Unfortunately, that did not come to pass. About 1 month ago prior to posting this review I was told this was to be handed over to their business unit for cancellation of the project. Since then Yellowlite has ignored any additional communication from us. I can assume for nothing else besides malice for expecting them to honor what their sales team has promised. I do not have solar from this company as we could not get this over the finishline in the final design phase. Communication from sales as top notch. Everything after that has been a disaster. And at this point this company has functionally robbed me of a $7000 deposit which they appear to have no intention of returning despite their sales team promising as much.

Terrible experience

I can't recommend YellowLite. They had to redraw the plans three separate times, and when the installation was initiated it still was not correct and they had to "wing it' as the installers put it. They did not stick to the original quote and stopped the job incompleted in order to demand more money. They never said when people were going to show up and I had installers randomly coming to my house. The installers left a mess both inside and outside of my house that I had to clean up. It has been two months and my panels are still not working correctly. No one at the company will respond to me. I'm putting 6kW as the size of my system because I don't know what it generates as it hasn't worked properly yet (its 40+ panels with microinverters).

We had a great experience working with YellowLite. They installed 36 panels and two Enphase batteries at our home. I appreciated the ease of communication with our solar consultant, Nick, and project manager, Allan. They were always readily available by email or phone. Greg also provided prompt technical support to ensure our system was fully operational after getting permission to operate. Our solar system started producing on October 3rd, and we were very happy to see a steep drop in our 09/23-10/22 electric bill. We are excited to see what our system will produce next summer!

I recently had 16 420W solar panels installed on my home by YellowLite, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! After doing my research to find a reputable solar installer, a couple of coworkers referred me to YellowLite. Their pricing was competitive and within industry standards, and I appreciated that they didn’t subcontract their work—it showed their commitment to quality. Gatsby was fantastic to work with, handling the design and staying easily accessible throughout the process. Justin also came out to inspect the site beforehand, ensuring everything was ready for the installation. The entire process, including approval from the local utility, was completed in about 2-3 months, which I found to be impressively quick. I had a vacation planned, and the team went out of their way to accommodate my schedule, getting the panels installed before I left. The professionalism, communication, and quality of work from YellowLite were top-notch. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient solar installation company!

Solar installation went exceptionally well

I had several estimates for my solar project and ended up with Yellowlite. They were very informative and prompt on answering any questions anytime. Also wanted to stay with a local business. So many other solar companies are not even based in my area. Yellowlite is the way to go and will be referred. Thank You Yellowlite for making this project carefree of any issues from day one to the finish line.

Loving my Yellow-Lite solar!

My system was installed 2 years ago and I am loving the credit balance on my electric bill! Last winter I had electric bills for 3 months, with the highest being about $30. I don't yet have the battery system to store power, but that is on my wish list! The folks at YellowLite were great to work with, and their projections on the performance of my system has been spot on. I highly recommend solar, and YellowLite is the place to go!

Very pleased

We had a 5kW rooftop system with Tesla Powerwall battery installed earlier this year. Very pleased with the process from beginning to end. Everyone we interacted with were extremely professional, knowledgeable, and prompt. System works flawlessly, and our electricity bill has been $0 since the system went live.

No support of projects post

UPDATE: Since posting my more negative review; Yellowlite has reassigned my account to another manager who seems sincerely committed to assisting me in resolving my concerns and addressing my needs. Brandon has reached out to me, explained current abilities to assist me in my endeavors and clarified what they would need from me (communication and time schedule from other contractors of other trades). I feel reassured at this point that Yellow-light would like to do the right thing and support me in maintaining their work as my needs are being addressed. Thank you! I contracted Yellow lite in 2020 to install a larger grid-tied commercial solar array on the roof of my single-story building after bidding the project to multiple contractors. Yellowlite was very responsive, provided good information and assurances of future support. During their initial site inspection, it was noted that the roof was dated and would need replacement/repair in the next 5 years; to which the team member (BILAL SAEED) informed me that this was no issue with the solar system, we would simply contact them and arrange to have the panels removed while work was completed and that they would then set them back up. This was in fact essential to maintain the labor and parts warrantees that were included with the initial installation. Fast-forward 3 years; It required 2 weeks to get a response back from Yellowlite to my service request to have the system moved for work and later installed. I contacted by phone (call center), email, and through the website. The reply back from JESSE VARNER was: “I apologize for the delay while I've been out of office helping in the field. We're currently focusing on helping folks get their systems installed before the end of the year, so the soonest we're scheduling system removals like this would be the spring. You are welcome to pursue other companies in the meantime, or you can reach us again in the spring for a quote if you're still interested in our assistance.” Through further communications, he confirmed that 1) this service is NOT included in any of the previous agreements, 2) anyone else doing the work would void Yellowlite’s warrantees. He has continued to refuse to quote a fee for his services (even in the spring) and then forwarded a generic link to alternative providers with a disclaimer that he is unfamiliar with these companies but that I should see if one of them can help me out. TRANALATION: We are only interested in NEW sales, we are NOT INTERSTED IN SUPPORTING our previous projects and if we can shift the warrantee of our product to someone else we’ll be happy to do that too! In the meantime, I still receive 2-3 emails from the company promoting referral incentives for recommending them, and additional products/services they wish to sell me! I can only RECOMMEND YOU AVOID this company if you wish to have the peace of mind that they will honor their warrantee and/or support their work. I will update this review with the information of who you SHOULD consider, once I locate a solar/electric contractor that knows how to support a solar array. If they offer to be able to get you work done this year note that they are LIARS: either they are lying to me, or they are lying to you and consider what that means when selecting who you contract to work with your home or business.

Residential 54 panels. Really impressed even when cloudy

Cody, Paul and their team were great to work with. We had 1 panel fail shortly after install but it was replaced in a timely manner. I'm surprised at the power it generates on cloudy days. Can't wait to see the output and savings after 1 entire year. We check the App frequently to see how things are going with the system. I was able to identify a reoccurring power pattern and resolved the reason for the periodic spikes in usage that the electric bill doesn't show. I waited to do this review until I had some time and experience with the product and people. I highly recommend YellowLite.

I suspect I'm picky about customer service, and know I'm picky about how things are done and how they look on my house. These guys were knowledgeable, and just great to work with. Did a very nice job. Professional, quality work. I'm very pleased.

EXCELLENT!

YellowLite installed my 11.5 kW solar system (36 panels, 91% of my energy requirements) in mid-Feb 2020. I have not paid a utility bill since then, and still have a $500 credit on my net metering. Not bad for an all-electric tri-level home, where I keep the AC set on 72F all summer..... I used the EnergySage website to gather quotes and do my research. Of the four quotes (one outside of EnergySage), YellowLite was the best system in terms of energy generation, as well as least expensive by a wide (about 20K) margin. The installation crew were very efficient and professional, as were all the folks who were involved in the project planning, surveys and service initiation. Communication was spotty before project installation, but things really took off from there and I honesty cannot recommend YellowLite highly enough. Installation took less than one day. The SolarEdge app lets you see exactly what your system is generating every hour of every day. It's so wonderful to wake up every day and know I did something wonderful for Mother Earth, and it's paying me personal dividends as well. Even on an overcast November day, my system is producing SOLAR ENERGY. And if you do your research, you will likely find that if you need financing to go solar, your monthly loan payments will be about the same as you are currently paying to your energy provider; the difference is when your loan payments are completed, you will have FREE ENERGY for years to come. If you are thinking of a solar system, DON'T WAIT!! Your free electricity and your solar energy tax credit (22% in 2021) are waiting!!

We had a 6.2kw system by Yellow Lite 5 months ago. Experience was truly a pleasure. Everyone we dealt with was top notch they made the process very easy. It was a high quality install from start to finish. We are happy we decided to use Yellow Lite.

Very friendly, easy to work with!

From start to finish yellow lite has stood by everything they said they would do for the exact cost I was quoted. They always checked to make sure I was ok with the placement of everything before the install and during. Going solar was one of the best choices iv ever made. It saves us so much money an is basically maintenance free. Yellow lite did a fantastic job on the install and customer service. Highly recommend to anyone looking to go solar!

Exceeded expectations

My April, 2019 electric bill was $1.05. I am amazed at the solar production of my YellowLite system in NE Ohio. We installed 20 solar panels (6.2 kW) in July, 2018 after learning that some friends used YellowLite and were happy with their installation. The company was helpful teaching us the ins and outs of solar power before we made our purchase. YellowLite handled all the permits and paperwork with our electric company so we didn't have to. The installation crew and electricians did a great job. The SolarEdge app is a great way to see how much power we're generating on any given day. We picked YellowLite because they have a long track record of solar installations. We're already planning to buy more panels sometime in the future as we've since bought an electric vehicle. Solar power is essential to a clean environment and we're happy to invest in a cleaner world for future generations. YellowLite did a great job for us.

The most satisfying consumer product purchase experience ever!

Yellowlite was brilliant from beginning to end. This is the most satisfying consumer product purchase I have ever made. Yellowlite manages the entire process. It was so easy from beginning to end - and they moved as quickly as possible. The staff are tremendous! I plan to install six more systems, and I would not even consider another service provider. Yellowlite also offers reasonable prices - no others I shopped were significantly less. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

OK, needs to be more responsive.

I had a 5 KW system installed on the roof of my home in January 2012. I also requested that a battery back up system be installed. Total cost was around $24000 or so, or $17.5K after tax credit. For the first few years, it was trouble free. We got Mage solar panels and they have been great. However, it has been pretty painful getting a response from the company whenever there are issues. Cody, the sales guy who initially worked with me on the system, is a nice guy- but there is only so much that he can do when there isn't tons of communication between the installation staff and the customer. The battery back up system is functionally dead about 4 years after installation. I may have used it 2x during that span. I don't know if it would have lasted longer if the system was built differently. I don't plan to replace them. There was a part of the system which failed and they were responsive in getting it replaced about 2 years ago. Other times it has been a challenge getting responses, after the sale is done. They are a small growing company, so I understand the hiccups. And when I make enough noise to enough people, things get done- I don't think it should have to come to that. I will change this review if my experience changes, but in hindsight, I don't think that I would have invested in a battery back up system if I could go back.

Solar Install

Yellowlite just recently installed our 7.83 kW solar panels (27 panels) onto our south facing roof (Dec. 2017). We were impressed with their professionalism, the knowledge of the staff, their courtesy, the quality of their work and the fact that we were barely inconvenienced for the installation. We were always updated both via phone and e-mail. All necessary inspections, permits, etc. were taken care of by the company. We would highly recommend Yellowlite. Jeff C. Gahanna, Ohio

After shopping around and researching extensively, I made the choice of YellowLite. Though there was an initial problem with layout, everything worked out satisfactorily. I was especially pleased with how YellowLite personnel took care of everything including permits and arranging for my energy credits. The online monitoring system is especially handy to know how much energy is being generated every day. I recommended YellowLite.

Love my new solar system. Tied in to Ohio Edison. It offsets some of my electric usage and if I am not consuming all of my electric at any given time it runs my meter backwards to sell electric back to Ohio Edison.

Fast, no nonsense service and install

Yellow lite came out quickly and helped me select the best site for the panels. Cody did a great job at explaining the system to us. The roofing specialists installing the panels were clean and courteous. The electrical team was a bit rough around the edges but they also came out and took care of the work, working with the power company when there were some logistical issues, etc. One of our inverters was running hot so they replaced it no problems. Some troubleshooting on the internet connection was needed, but all is working now.

Having considered solar energy for a little over a year, we were thrilled with Yellowlite's professionalism from start through finish. Ibrahim answered all of our questions from start to finish, and they always kept in touch, and in the loop. Our property was treated with the utmost respect, and we are thrilled with the production and service we are receiving. We are definitely recommending them to our family and friends.

Excellent Responsiveness

We made cost comparisons and selected YellowLite for our solar installation. We were very impressed with the quality of customer service (Cody) and the people who installed the PV system. It has worked without a hitch, and what was most impressive was the follow-up and service after the sale when we had some issues getting First Energy to install the meter and do what they needed to do on their end. YellowLite did all the heavy lifting to get that done, too!

The YL team did a great job. They came to my house for the quote, lestened to what I would like to have done, and did the system exactly the way I wanted. Everyting was done quickly and with no stress on me. I have a 9.92 KW system mounted low profile on the ground. I did, however have to re-seed the trench that was dug, my system was installed in december, so come april I had to take care of the grass myself.
