Scam

I began on this journey of conserve energy about a year ago. I was guaranteed to save money on my electricity bill. I should have looked more into it. It is aggravating to see how I am paying twice the amount electricity that is supposed to help me save. I live in a 2 story house, and In The past year the average cost of saving is 20-35 dollars. I was guaranteed at least 70% of my electricity bill to be reduced. The representative that I spoke to work from the McAllen area. I have reached out to the customer service and representative in charge of the area, told me the same thing “just cut back on electricity being used”. I want the panels removed because it’s pointless, and been lied to about saving. I’m going to make others think twice before going solar.

I would love to write a wonderful review of ADT but as I’m sure you can guess that is not the case. It started out well enough. The sales person was wonderful and at first I thought Amanda, our advisor, was going to be very helpful, then the wheels fell off about a month ago. We failed our county inspection which we had been waiting a month to have. Why did we fail? Because the workman used the wrong gauge of wire. We thought no biggie, easy enough to fix. So I contacted Amanda right away. It’s now taking her more than her self prompted 24 hours to respond. And I keep getting the run around. I’ve been told we’re waiting on the power company to shut off the power so they can fix the wiring so then we can wait on another inspection. Meanwhile we’re now paying for BOTH our monthly electrical bill and our solar power loan. We still have no idea when we’re going to be up and running. I realize ADT solar is a big company and that mistakes happen to everyone but we are literally paying out of pocket for ADT’s mistake and to add insult to injury we can’t even get anyone to communicate with us. We are regretting going with this company and in good faith with not be able to recommend them to anyone until this problem has been fixed.

ADT Solar/SunPro is the Worst Company I ever hired!!!

I am a retired disabled senior citizen living on social security. I thought it was a good idea to go solar to save on my electricity bill and have it lowered. I wish I had found this website before and had read all of the negative comments before I decided to purchase the solar panels from ADT SOLAR. This whole experience has been one big nightmare! I should have known better then to listen to the sales pitch from the salesperson from SunPro Solar. I must admit that he was very good and believable and I fell for his lies. First lie was that I would receive a check from the federal government in the amount of $12,064.00 for my tax credit. I checked with my tax accountant and she advised that they would not be sending me a check but that I would only receive a tax credit if I owed taxes. Living on a fixed income you don't have any tax credits because I don't owe any money to the IRS. My system was installed on May 10, 2022. However it wasn't up and running until July 5, 2022. Since then I have been checking how many kWh my solar panels have been producing and each day since that date my system has been underproducing solar power. The salesperson advised me that my system would produce enough energy and that I would only be required to pay for my loan and the minimum customer service amount to Duke Energy. With my situation of underproducing his comments turned out to be another lie!!! I purchased this system to lower my bills and with this current situation I will be paying double for my electric bills. I will have to pay for my loan for the solar panels and for everything the panels are not producing to Duke Energy. So far no one from ADT SOLAR has offered any help to rectify the under production on solar energy!!! I feel like I have been taken advantage of by a ADT Solar/SunPRO sales guy for a solar power system that does not work and now I'm paying double!

Response from ADT Solar (formerly Sunpro Solar)

Greetings Idalberto, we understand your frustration and are reaching out to the management team in your area. We want to make sure your system is operating as it was sold and that you are excited about your purchase.

Not sure what they have sold and customer service is very bad

After reading the reviews in the last month, it does not look like I am alone. I already had EnPhase solar panels (installed by momentum solar) for the last 2 years (which generate about 50kwh) a day. I was a very happy customer till I added battery to that system Just like other reviewers I also had a lot of issues and delays during the installation. After all that, I still don't believe the system is working as promised. The batteries are on standby for the last 2 months as I think it is very inefficient (it takes more power to charge then what is being discharged) Even on standby is is using 1.5kwh of charge everyday I had a power outage once and the solar (while it was generating 6kwh before the outage, during the outage it was only generating 1.5 kWh). I am totally lost with the way I am getting kicked around by ADT and its staff. I have reached out to several people, including the sales person, installer, support and their supervisors. No réponse at all. I am hoping someone from ADT does take care of the issues and explain me what has been sold to me. If that does not happen, I am forced to find a way to log a more formal complain with government agencies and better business bureau and hope the new customers don't waste their money on a system which looks fancy but does nothing useful

Response from ADT Solar (formerly Sunpro Solar)

Hi Upendran, We are sorry to hear that you are having these issues with your battery. We have reached out to our field team to take a look at your equipment. We will be in contact soon.

This feels more and more like a mistake every day

I signed up for a 9.6 KW system with no battery on May 7th of 2022, I was told that the system would be installed within 60 days but it may not be functional due to inspections until 90 days at the most. I am now 63 days out from the contract, I was told on June 3rd that they were just waiting on permits to go thru from my small town, and that my town was one of those towns that take forever to process them. I was ok with that until I get a call on June 30th from the project manager saying it was going to be another 4-6 weeks to get the permit approved!!! I called into the building manager and asked what the hold up was, I was pretty upset when I called but I figured something was up, building inspector had never even received a permit application! So i called back several times and finally got told that they are not allowed to even apply for permits in alot of places due to the recent name change to ADT and that they still have to apply for the license to work in the area, SO THE PERMIT THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SITTING WITH THE CITY INSPECTOR HASNT EVEN BEEN APPLIED FOR YET!!! I want nothing more then to cancel this contract with no liablity to myself, I am not happy I am not satisfied and I feel misled and lied to. IM PAYING 53,000$$ FOR A SYSTEM WITHOUT A BATTERY AND THIS IS HOW I GET TREATED. I wouldnt recommend this company if my life depended on it to anyone I like even the slightest bit.

Hung out to dry.

Just 12 months ago I got over two dozen panels installed on my house by SunPro Solar (now ADT Solar). I picked them as they were the #1 ranked in the nation and been in business for a decade. Well they are now apart of, or be ame, ADT Solar, and I just learned the extremely hard way that ADT has zero intentions of honoring any guarantees or warranties of Sun Pro. This is borderline fraud (imo) but once again a big company with deep pockets just screws the common man.

And it turns out that from day 1 the system does not have enough panels for the needs of the house, and now the only solution they give me, is to buy more panels! When the system was poorly designed from the beginning, and the seller would have told me that he really needed 18 panels and that the payment was going to make around 200 dollars, I would have said no because my energy invoice is far below that number. , but apparently to sell and collect commissions I designed a system with half the panels that I really needed and now I have a monthly payment for some panels and one for the electrical system. Sunpro ADT is making insane. This is month seven and I am still not hooked up. They installed right away on the roof did the electrical everything was going fine months and months and months ago then they called for the inspection and a failed inspection. They then made the corrections which now left two sections of hooks or whatever they attach the panels to the roof with open that they can’t remove until they fix that part of the roof because it would leak if they did. They moved two solar panels that were incorrectly installed and didn’t go with the plan that was approved to the garage. They redid the electrical then sent more electricians out who said they had to change a wire and a breaker they couldn’t find the breaker anywhere so they called all over and found a breaker for me they came back the next day they installed it. Once they got that done they called the inspector and the job failed because they had put them in the wrong place. They then fixed it supposedly and scheduled another inspection I took the four days off work actually if you add them all up and this day today they didn’t really have me on the schedule to get an inspection. I’ve been waiting to hear back from my project manager who is not calling. His supervisor is not calling. I called the main customer service desk they sent me back to you my project manager. So where I’m at now is everything is on the roof I am paying for Duke electric bill I am paying for the solar so my bill went from a regular bill to double they did reimburse me for two payments but still now on May 4 are two more. I am waiting for the project manager to call me back today because he is not in and his supervisor was notified to call me if they can’t get a hold of him and still no call. I have taken for annual days if you have them up for all these appointments with no resolution they are costing me money and I am absolutely furious at this point I don’t feel like they are making me any priority whatsoever this all started I believe in January it is now July. One other thing I’d like to mention is they change project managers because my first one left or quit or something and no one told me so I didn’t even know who my project manager was no one gave me a call no one checked on me and at when I tried to get a hold of her I found out that she had left the company and then found out that I had a new project manager ANDREW. At this point I don’t know what to do I am wondering if I need to lawyer up because quite frankly right now I feel like I just want them to remove everything re-roof my house get rid of the financial stuff that I’ve had to do to get solar and get it all off my property and go away. Today it failed electrical inspection so now the process continues. I swear you can not make this up. I’ve lost 7 days of vacation time and still don’t have solar. The company owes me a free back up battery for going through all this. It’s insane.

After a successful installation a few weeks later, we thought everything was good to go and were just waiting for the final inspection by the county. As of June 27 2022, our system has failed county inspection 3 times and this company has yet to get the system to pass code. Our city inspector has recommended we file a complaint with the Georgia Electrical Licensing board because each of his inspections found multiple serious code violations. I will most likely be having a third party remove these panels from our home and then taking the company to binding arbitration and/or court. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!

My equipment hasn't been working properly

My equipment went online last July and I change electric provider to Rhythm Energy as they recommended. 16.9 cents for buying my solar energy and 16.9 cents for energy I use. The problem is my equipment hasn't been working properly. My microinverters were not working properly for a while and then my batteries malfunctioned. They said it was a warranty issue but that it may take months before they get a replacement and it did. Approximately 5 months. Meanwhile ontop of my monthly bill for the solar panels I'm now paying approx $200 a month for electricity. I've called multiple times to complain and request for help. I finally got in contact with my case manager so she could review my bills to determine if the problem is that I don't have enough panels to generate the energy that I need, thus the large electric bills. She informs me today, June 23rd, that since she doesn't have a full 12 months worth of usage that there is nothing she can do. But since she shows that my panels were not working for two weeks she can offer me $103 since according to my proposal that I received a year ago, the savings that I would approx. be seeing was $206 a month if I went to solar. Are you kidding me? I love the idea of having solar panels and being able to have power during any blackouts. But I think this company has to do a better job at owning their mistakes and making it right with their customers. I have been paying large electric bills because I was sold ($100,000) worth of panels and batteries and somehow that is not enough. Maybe if they were working properly or installed properly, I would not be complaining. I'm so disappointed in the customer service and I feel dismissed by them. I hate to say this but I am considering purchasing panels from their competitors just to resolve the issue. I've invested so much as it is and I just can't believe that I would be treated this way.

Terrible, terrible company

I feel like I've been lied to, manipulated, and taken advantage of and I am not at all happy about it. I was told from the beginning that it would take three months for our panels to be installed and operational, it took 10 months. We signed in July of 2021, they were operational May of this year, 2022. I was told we wouldn't have to pay for our loan for over a year because we would receive that rebate 6 weeks after permission to operate, now they are conveniently saying it'll be 16 weeks. I was told the system we were sold would cover the entirety of our usage and it only covers 25% so I am paying the solar loan on top of over $100 worth of an electric bill. We were also supposed to receive a credit to our electric account so if there was an overage, it would be covered by that but we haven’t received that either. So basically, we were promised multiple things which have not been held up on their end and are now suffering because of it. I feel like no one is taking this matter seriously or no one actually cares based off the responses I have been getting. Do yourself a favor and go with a different solar company, this one is terrible.

New Solar Panels - Damaged Roof

I am utterly disappointed with ADT Solar (formerly SunPro Solar). June 2021, I entered into contract with the then *SunPro Solar, and had my solar panels installed; twenty to be exact. Shortly after installation of my solar panels, our area experienced multiple days of heavy rainfall. When things finally calmed down with the weather, my wife and I noticed a water stain on our master bedroom ceiling, directly underneath the area where several of our solar panels were installed. We purchased our home in 2018 via a VA guaranteed loan. If you know anything about VA loans, their's is the strictest of home ownership inspections. Many sellers dread VA loans for that very reason. We were excited to learn from our seller and real estate agent that our roof was newly installed in 2018, so we knew we were in good shape for the next 30 years, providing nothing catastrophic happened to compromise the soundness of our roof. Prior to the installation of our solar panels in 2021, our roof had been inspected for structural soundness and passed. After the installation of our solar panels, a leak developed following heavy rainfall. When I reached out to the customer service department to voice my roof issue, my calls went unanswered for weeks. After several phone contact attempts, finally someone replied and assured me that I would be hearing from a technician. It took several weeks before I was contacted by a technician, and when we scheduled a date/time for them to come out an inspect my roof and ceiling, they didn't show up, nor did they call, though I took off work to make sure I would be there. I lost an entire's day of work and pay. After several phone calls to reschedule, I asked that I be notified when the technician was on the way to my home so I would not have to take off another whole day of work. I never received that phone call, and later that day my wife calls me and tells me the technician showed up and told her he didn't believe our leak issue was related to the solar panel installation. I called SunPro Solar back immediately and requested they have the technician call me so I could explain to them the history of our roof installation, the soundness of our roof following a stringent inspection, and the sudden development of a leak following the installation of our solar panels. I'm not the sharpest knife in the basket, but I'm certainly not the dullest one either. I can still add 1+1 to get 2 as the answer. Well, to this date since November 2021, no one from SunPro Solar has made good on their word to remedy my roof/ceiling situation. Neither have I heard back from anyone, though I've been promised my concern was being escalated for a speedy response. It has reached seven months, and I've not heard from anyone. Just today, my area experienced heavy rainfall, and my wife noticed our ceiling light fixture filling with dirty rain water, which is a clear indication that while SunPro Solar continues to delay remedying my roof issue, the damages have spread to the nearby light fixture. At this very moment, we cannot sleep in our bed because rain water is filling and overflowing from the ceiling light fixture which is directly over top our bed. Thank you SunPro Solar for our $41,000+ headache and discomfort. Sadly, I do not recommend this company to anyone seeking to convert to solar energy. For the categories On schedule, Installation quality, and After sales support, I give a rating of negative 5 stars!

GREAT Installation ... HORRIBLE management

System was installed March 23. My "account manager" Amanda is very excited! about working with me. Next up is an inspection. April comes and goes. No inspection. Amanda is reaching out to the schedulers but they don't have enough schedulers or inspectors and so there is a delay. May comes and goes. Now I am paying on the loan and the system in not up and running. I manage to talk to someone in Tampa, not Amanda who can only communicate within "24 business hours" (which means 3 days if you are fortunate). This person actually gets Amanda to call me. Amanda tells me someone from scheduling will call me right away. And Austin from scheduling actually does call and sets up an inspection for the following week. June 7: The inspector, Keith, comes and everything checks out. The County inspector comes and the system fails because the footers for the rooftop panels are too far apart according to the plans. SunPro sends a team THE NEXT DAY to take care of the issue. GREAT! I think, I am actually going to be running on sunshine soon! A couple of weeks pass and nothing. Amanda tells me something vague about we are "pending a site visit." Now my second payment is due. Amanda tells me SunPro will reimburse me for payments made before the system is running. This is a good thing BUT now we are "pending a check issue date" and I "will be contacted by a scheduling coordinator to confirm a date" for another inspection. So I am still paying my regular FPL bill AND my loan for the system and still have no idea when I might actually be able to use my system. I have to say the people on the ground, installers and the inspector, have been really great. If I could just rate them, I would give 5 stars without hesitation. I don't know what the problem is on the management end but I am beginning to believe ADT does not want the solar part of this business. When they bought it from Marc Jones they bought BuildPro, EnergyPro and SunPro. It appears they are largely disinterested in the SunPro part of this. Perhaps they are hoping all the negative reviews will keep people from trying to purchase solar systems from them and they can just let the SunPro part die. SO frustrating!!!!

So my husband called ADT Solar to initiate the process and the first salesperson never even showed up and customer service was extremely unprofessional. I should have taken that as a sign and ended it there. However, we persisted and got Matthew, who was nice and personable. He sold us a system with 23 panels and 2 batteries, telling us that we only needed 2 batteries to power the home. The process to installation has dragged on and on, as we were sold the system on May 6th, 2022 and still have no installation. An energy professional came to the house and installed a Google Nest system and light bulbs and told us our AC was not working properly. I spent $160 and was told everything was fine by am AC professional. Another technician came to the house for a Tesla battery assessment and we were then told that we actually needed 3 batteries or Tesla wouldn't warranty them. That's not what we were told and that's $26K more! So now we cancelled and are being told we owe $3000...but why are we being charged if there is this $26K discrepancy? We were sold and told one thing and now being told another! Why would I want a system that Tesla now won't warranty...that's stupid! I refuse to pay this and I am highly disappointed by this whole process. Do NOT go with this company, ever. Stay far away.

Very Frustrating

The salesman was the only positive experience in the whole process. Once I signed, the process went downhill from there. The panels took longer to install than originally discussed, then we waited way too long for them to get permission to operate. They were in charge of the process and kept telling me they were waiting on FPL to respond back. I finally called FPL and they said they were waiting on a a document from Sunpro, but wouldn't tell me since I wasn't the one submitting the app. I had to call Sunpro and ask them to please look into it since they are the only one able. They magically knew as soon as they went in to their system what FPL had been waiting on and I was able to move forward. The system went online and only half of my 48 panels would work. After many calls and no answer on when they would come out, I was finally able to get someone scheduled. I started the process in August and wasn't able to get my panels to function properly until the end of Feb. **When the tech came out to determine why only half of the panels would work, he asked me the question "who finished first, the electricians or the panel installers" I answered the electricians and he said, "don't say anymore, I'll go up and see what is wrong." I'm not sure how the panel installers are making those connections if they are not certified to do so, but what do I know. The tech also found that the plastic housing of one of the inverters was broke (even though it was functioning fine) and that it would need replaced. I have never heard back from them on scheduling a repair and just got off the phone to report it again. I communicated this before to my sales representative to be told that she doesn't handle that type of issue and couldn't look to see where they scheduled a repair since it happened after the system was turned on. Reimbursements that are promised, good luck with that. I'm still waiting. Seems they are taking on more work than they have the resources to accomplish.

Panels installed in February and they are still not turned on. Now I am paying for a solar loan and my electric bill. I also lost my pool solar panels in the exchange. No one will return my call, my account manager, his supervisor or customer service. I would give 0 stars if that were possible. Empty promises! Now I am in debt and can not afford my bills.

Horrible Experience

Nothing the SunPro representative turned out to be true. I signed the contract 2 months later they installed panels but never hooked of the electrical. They tell me it will be another 6 weeks. They told me that the first payment is due 60 days after the install. Install being they put panels on roof not a working system. Next I get a bill from Sunlight financial telling me I need to make my first payment within 12 days of the panels being installed. Customer service is awful and do not expect any help. Sad thing is I have been an ADT customer for over 20 years and trusted them. I signed the contract in April so I will have it to reduce my large electric bills. Now I am lucky if I have it in August . I would highly recommend you explore other Solar companies. Solar is the way to go just not with this company and lender

Turned to shit when bought by ADT

Used to be responsive when anything happened. All customer service is gone and takes months to get anything done. Run away from this company as fast as you can if you are looking for solar.

Worst customer service

Don't go with these ppl. When we did the paperwork we asked for more panels because we knew our usage wasn't going down. They wouldn't do it. Now 8 months later and I can't put in my window units because I will end up with $100 electric bill plus the $160 I am paying for the under powered system. The customer service is less than human. I was yelled at by 2 managers after telling them I am sick with covid. They made it my fault they yelled at me. They are refusing to uphold their end of the bargain. I have been dealing with there poor customer service since day one. I had to call 7 times before they would do the 'free' insulation and get the system inspected. Just stay away from these unempathetic, degrading, people that take no ownership in their horrible treatment of people when they need help. They just need to be taken out with the trash they are.

Run very fast away from this company

My husband and I agreed to solar panels in November of 21. We were told they would be installed in January of 22. So in February I started calling. I finally get an install date of April 14 and 15. I take time off work, ( costing me roughly 260 to 270 ) a day. April 14th no one shows up so I think ok they are coming tomorrow. Nope no one called or showed up. I message and call. Finally someone shows up on April 25th to install, they then start screaming about my dogs, who are in the house. Can I take them to the basement or they will leave. No you are working outside and they are in the house. As all of this is going on I am on the phone with our coordinator who is by the way doing great. I asked her about the electrician. She says we can't schedule that until they are installed. So the next day I call and they schedule the electrician for June 16 and 17. I'm excited. On June 15 I get a phone call because I'm reaching out to confirm electrician will be here. She hasn't heard anything but we are still on the schedule, she will reach out and call back. Another 2 days off work ( over 500$) . She calls back no they aren't coming the foreman hasn't done his reading. So here I sit waiting some more. This has cost me over $1000 so far with nothing to show except a payment due next week on an unusable solar roof. I have had enough and will be calling a lawyer as soon as I post this. Come get your panels and cancel the loan. I will also be posting this to every social media site and the BBB. As a business owner myself I may also contact the regular media.
