Worst experience ever.

If there was a option to give negative rating I would. Do not fall for this scam. The salesman lied me about what all I was getting. The panels have been installed for like 6 months now and they are not yet operational. After 6 months the inspector from county comes to inspect the instillation but the installers from ADT who was supposed to be here did not show up. The installer went without inspecting. ADT’s service is ridiculous. I would not recommend them to anyone.

8 months waiting for the instalation and don't have a final date

Sale and contracting process was fast. They came and installed the panels in 1 day, back in Dec 31,2021. ADT bought SunPro and no one ever return to my house to finish the instalation. We called several times, and no one has an anwer, they only passed the message to Ana Brice (Project Manager) . Every time the answer from her is "We greatly appreciate your patience during this process. I will continue to monitor your project and will reach back out to you next week". 8 months passed and we are still waiting. We don't know a thing about what they did or how they installed all the equiptment. What we know are we have a significant increment in our FPL bill since this instalation start.

Wish a 0 was an option.! HORRIBLE Company!!

It's been 13 months of a nightmare. Sunpro Solar company lied about installing and never got an average usage for the home we just purchased, was told by a rep later it was a best guess to usage(wrong by 17 panels on usage) installing was a nightmare due to no notice on installing after pulling off the job sue to their error and just showed up to install 3 months later without letting us know until they were at the door. Caused $65,000 in damages upon installing the solar and has been a complete disaster trying to get things repaired as well as getting reimbursement checks for what I paid up front even though I put $30k down on the system. It's been 13 months and ADT has since bought Sunpro Solar but they seem to care even less since I go months without communicating with them at least twice a week and what was told to me by the same employees that are still there with the company change act like it's all new information they are getting. RUN AWAY NOW!! Lots of companies out there that do better...

Feeling Cheated

We decided to get solar panels when it was still SunPro Solar. When the solar panels were installed they didn't have all the parts. They told us they would be back in about a week once the parts were in. Over a month later, the panels are all finally hooked up - but not working. It took another 2 weeks to get them working. SunPro did reimburse us for the months that were having to pay both an electric bill and a monthly payment for the panels. We have had to have people out to fix some of the panels one more time after they were finally all installed properly. We were told when we signed all the paperwork that we would get a tax credit for conserving energy, and that if we applied that tax credit to our balance for the solar panels our monthly payments would be lower. This is what truly angers me about our whole experience. We were NOT told that you only get that credit if you have to PAY taxes. If you get a return, you don't get the credit. Now our payments are going to go up substantially because we weren't told everything clearly at the time of signing. We will NOT be referring any friends or family to this company for installation of solar panels. There has GOT to be a better way.

Don't waste your TIME or money!

We signed our contract 3/1/22. Received HOA approval the last week of June. Solar Panels were installed July 1st. I am still waiting on our PTO and it is 8/29/22. Practically 6 MONTHS from when we signed our contract. We signed a tariff application on 3/22/22. This application is good for 90 days. When our solar was installed, this application was already expired. We were told on 7/15/22 that our final inspections had passed and we were waiting on PTO. I started calling every other day starting on 8/8/22. I have not received a call back and we are going on week 4. 8/17/22 I signed another tariff application, as ADT finally figured out their mistake. But I still have not received a call from my project manager, Jeremy Sasser, his supervisor Dusty Fisher or anyone to tell me that they made a mistake. Our solar loan starts next week. Why should we have to pay for that loan when ADT solar is at fault? We signed our contract with Sunpro who was acquired by ADT this year. ADT has been a huge disappointment. Unorganized, horrible customer service and communication. God forbid if I need anything warranty related in the future. Don't waste your time or money!!

ADT Solar, formerly know as Sunpro has been the worst experience I have ever had in doing business with any company. Our panels were installed in April and are still not up and running in August. REGRET!!!

We purchased solar panels back in 12/2020 from Sun Pro Solar before they were ADT Solar. The sales person assured my husband that our power bill with panels would be $10 - $20 a month. We are now in 08/2022 and we've only had a few bills in that range. During peak usage summer and winter months I now have a $156 loan payment for these panels in addition to $150 -$170 electric bills. It's costing me more than before we had solar panels!!! We've also had a recent issue with many of the micro-inverters being off due to a tripped breaker that's stuck in off and have been waiting a week for a call from someone to come out and fix this so bill will just keep going up. I regret purchasing this system more than I can express. We're located in GA and anyone that asks about our panels, I tell them about our awful experience and strongly encourage them not to go this route.

Terrible experience

So anything after the sales pitch and financing has pretty much been a disaster. The salesman promised us that he was not one of these salesman that sells the product and then you never hear from again that he would be around and we could contact him. After a couple contacts with him to try to get problem solved, he disappeared, and he never came around like he said he would. The first problem we startled with was we were promised we would have a check to cover the first year payments on the solar panels and another one to cover our first year of electric bills. We had to make some payments on our own before we finally got those checks after a lot of complaining and very little help. But we finally got that ironed out, but things were going pretty good, kept waiting for the benefits of having solar panels so we wouldn't have to pay an electric bill. But our electric bill is routinely running over $100 in the summer months even with 26 panels on our roof with absolutely no time in the shade. We were told the 26 panels would be more than enough to power our house. Yet the most I have yet to see, even during full sun and late afternoon when our panels have been working all day, is a 50% energy independence. If they power grid flickers for whatever reason, we lose power in our house at least enough to make clocks blink. How does that happen when we should be running completely on solar at that point. So for the last 2 months, even though we're running close to 12 hour days of sunshine, our electric bill has been over $115 on top of solar panel payments. We were told that our local electric company would be soon starting to pay US dollar for dollar for the electricity we overproduce and put into the grid, that's not happening either. Now we have to get a roof put on a house because of hail damage, and it seemed like they were going to take real good care of us through this roofing process, their solar branch would come out and remove the solar panels, they're build pro roofing Branch would re-roof in a day and the solar panels would go back up the next day. Well almost 3 weeks ago I got a message asking if it was okay for them to drop roofing materials in our driveway. No warning. If they had let me know they were coming I could have moved our vehicles around so it would have been convenient and we still could have used at least one side of our garage. But instead, no warning, my truck was parked in the way, so we have been without the use of the side of the garage that we park in most often. Our appointment to get the solar panels removed before they start roofing is still over two weeks away. Why would they drop roofing materials that far out, especially when they did not have an install date yet? I tried to get them to come out and move those materials to the other side of the driveway so we could use our garage but no luck. This is not instilling confidence for the rest of the process. So in summary, most of what we were told from the beginning was not true. The solar panels are very expensive, the technology is simply not there for them to be cost-effective if you're going to have to make a payment every month and still pay a huge electric bill every month. The little we get back on our electric bill from what we produce over what we use during the day doesn't seem to be having much effect on our bill. So not only would I not recommend this company at all, I wouldn't recommend going solar right now. My brother put solar panels on using a different company, I know he had troubles as well, I don't know if his troubles were fixed, but it sounds to me like the whole industry is overhyped and underperforming.

Was promised most contracts up an running in three months. Contract stated under six months. It is now August and I still do not have a date as to when solar instillation will be complete. ADT solar has not kept a single appointment made to do work on the system, rescheduling at least once, causing me to use two weeks of vacation time. Would never have signed up with them had I known this was the process, now bound to the contract of an indefinite instillation process because work has been initiated on the home. Three complaints have been made in the last month and each time I have been told that the project manager or their supervisor would call me and they have yet to do so.

The worst part is they don’t return calls. They don’t show up on days they say they will be here and then arrive on other days forcing us to scramble to have someone provide access. Tore up the back yard even through on design phase we agreed on a different routing for lines. Roof looks crappy and their answer was “we guarantee no leaks for 10 years”. What good is that if they don’t return calls and I have to take to small claims court. Avoid this company. Ask you neighbors for referrals, don’t believe the sales guys because the ADT solar salesmen don’t have anything to do with you once you sign the contract and the operations team doesn’t even visit the site. They only look at pictures the contractors send, which of course are always from clever angles

Incomplete install

I signed up with sunpro who is now adt solar; after 3 months of waiting on install. I finally got my schedule date in June. Team came and started to work, did electrical work, took short cuts. Avoiding upgrading outdated panel, which they committed to replacing. They also installed mounts and then advised we have no panels in stock. Leaving an incomplete job, after several complaints the only response, i got was sorry we are working to resubmit permits. Because we have to give you different brand of solar panels and redo electrical box. I was so upset, i said cancel my order. What i later go as a response, was sorry after we start the job you can not cancel. So i realized what was done, they installed items in inventory, to lock in the contracts. To ensure customers dont cancel. Seems like a shady practice, happening to many people. I’ve looked at reviews all over and consensus, are most people experiencing the same services. Today is august 9th 2022 and i sent emails to customer care, managers etc. no one is responding, yet i received notice on my credit report. They are billing the equipment not yet installed. At this point i hope taking my review, to the internet will get this addressed. Because im hoping to avoid a legal and potentially costly route.

Go Solar! But with another company

I highly recommend getting solar, but do not do it with ADT Solar. We signed our contract with them November 2nd 2021 and did not have an operational system until June 28th 2022 (almost 8 months later). They are overpriced and have terrible project managing within their various teams as I will outline below. We were told when we signed that we would have a working system in either January or February (within 4 months, as the average is typically 3 months), ours took 8 almost solely due to the mismanagement of our project by various ADT Solar staff. As mentioned, we signed 10/2/21 and then the solar panels and most of the electrical system was installed on 1/10/22. We were very happy on this day and thought we were about to be close to the finish line, but boy were we wrong. The first red flag happened on this day when our electrical system failed to get completed in one day. I went out to talk to the electricians at 4:30 pm to see if they needed anything and they told me they were almost finished. I looked out the window a little after 5 pm and see them drive off. I thought it was odd they didn't say anything to me before leaving but just assumed everything went smoothly since they had told me shortly before they were almost complete. It was not until a few days later that my project manager told me that they in fact had not completed the electrical work and did not have availability to come out and finish it until the 21st (11 days later). I was annoyed by the lack of communication and management on their part for not scheduling better (if you know you can't complete it in one day why would you not schedule two days?) but I was still hopeful at that point that I was one step closer to getting solar on my home. This is where it really starts to go downhill. A new set of electricians came out on the morning of the 21st. They were there for less than 10 minutes before they came knocking on my door again. They take me to the electrical panel and tell me that our electrical panel needs to get updated because the solar circuit breaker does not fit. I was speechless. We had TWO set of electricians come out BEFORE our system was installed in order to make the permit drawings. Then we had another set of electricians install our electrical on install day and somehow all 3 set of electricians missed that our panel needed to be upgraded. HOW does that happen? So now ADT Solar needed to resubmit our permit drawings with the upgraded panel noted. After being told it was "expedited" they did not actually resubmit our drawings for 11 days after the day we were told we need an upgrade. (For reference, I'm an architect so I know it shouldn't take 11 days to update drawings especially if it's "expedited"). The drawings were resubmitted on 2/1/22 and approved by CPS on 3/15. Our local jurisdiction approved them on 3/23. ADT Solar did not come out to finish the electrical work and update the electrical panel until 4/15. (3 WEEKS after it was approved. That's their expedited time? It had been over 5 months since we signed by this point). It took them another two business days to request inspection by the local jurisdiction (4/19) which was scheduled and approved on 4/26. At this point we are FINALLY starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. But of course, completing the project in under 6 months would just be too good to be true. On 5/9, I am told by our project manager that our CPS (electrical utility supplier) agreement had expired on APRIL 17th (3 weeks prior). Again, I am speechless. All I could think was, again, HOW did this happen? I was told by my project manager in MARCH that my project was likely not going to be completed until June. So, that tells me that they knew (or should have known??) that our agreement was going to expire and they needed to ask for an extension. I was told in March but ADT Solar staff decided to wait until 4/11 (less than a week before it expired on 4/17) to request an extension to CPS, even though previously (twice) it had taken over a month for CPS to approve and my project manager had continuously told me that CPS was backed up and that's why our project was going so slow. But sure, giving them less than a week to approve an extension sounds like enough time, right? Besides ADT Solar mismanaging my project yet again, they failed to communicate it with me. They waited 3 WEEKS after it had expired to tell me. They said they were waiting to hear whether it was approved or denied, which they got denied on 5/4 (still 3 business days before telling me). This is when I escalated my concerns to the higher up manger (I believe regional manager, Leslie) of the San Antonio area. I voiced all of the concerns I have listed above and she took a day to gather information on my case. She was professional, and told me that my project would be expedited (not the first time I heard that) and said that it was not the first time some of these issues had been raised to her. I knew there was nothing ADT Solar could do to speed up my process at that point, but I was hoping my concerns would be addressed so that future customers would not have a horrible experience like me (I've read other reviews, doesn't seem like much has changed). I was pretty much done with dealing with ADT Solar at this point. My project manager would send me updates every so often and give me an estimation of when something would be complete, but it was always two to three more weeks more than their estimation. ADT Solar resubmitted our drawings on 5/4 (the day it was denied, very quick for them) and it was approved, again, on 6/8. Our system was finally operational when commissioning was done on 6/28 (about 8 months from the start of the process). Honestly, it's a real bummer for me to write this horrible review. I work in the architecture/construction industry and am a huge advocate for going solar. I could probably pay off my system in just a couple years with their referral system if I actually recommended them, but unfortunately I can't do that based on my awful experience. We'll be getting solar on another house and will be staying far away from ADT Solar, I recommend you do the same.

Not impressed and unorganized

I had a great salesman to begin with, Derrick. I have a southern-facing roof in Ohio with no obstructions. Had everything installed in June (left nuts and bolts everywhere). After a terrible thunderstorm, the power went out. About 12 hours later, I noticed all my neighbor's power back on. So I checked my outside breaker (that has never tripped in 10 years) and it was tripped. I also discovered that they changed out my 200 amp breaker for a 175. So I told my salesman what was going on and that the breaker kept tripping every half hour or so. This caused my refrigerator and a tall freezer to get fried along with all the food. After a few more days of this (and talking to a head manager) they sent a crew out on a Sunday to put back a 200 amp. This was after I made them feel how hot my breaker was and it tripped while they were standing there luckily because they were telling me it would not do that. ADT stated on July 5th that they would send me a check for 800 dollars for compensation for the lost food and it would take 30 days to be issued out. I still have not received a check. So a few weeks ago they said I would need a whole panel upgrade on them to make my system sufficient. They said someone was coming out and he did, but he did not do anything major. I asked about what all he did and they stated he changed the breaker. He did not, it is still the 200 amp that was bought and put in in June. I was told last Tuesday, 7/2/2022, that they notified a foreman and were waiting for a response. I still have not heard back. I texted my salesman on Friday and still no word. In every encounter, I am usually not believed or there has not been communication between anyone involved in this organization. The gentlemen that were sent out on a Sunday were told my system was turned on and did not know what the problem was when sent. My system has never been turned on. I do not have PTO. At this point, it has just been a giant disappointment that has inconvenienced my family several times. It is weird to explain to my family that we did not have power after getting solar panels installed. I honestly have no faith my panel will be upgraded let alone my system getting to be used. Also, my first payment is due on the 21st. It is sad to ask for help for something that was promised and contractually owed. Reach out to me if someone knows how to help correct this before a ask my attorney about it. Bryan Cox usmcbryan@msn.com

Don't use ADT Solar!

Our panels were installed in November, right after we signed the contract. We were initially very pleased....but there they sat, and continue to sit. It's now August, and they are still only collecting dust, nothing more. We have been lied to repetitively. First the delay was with the city, until I called the city who had ZERO backlog and told us that ADT hadn't submitted complete paperwork several times over. That gets taken care of (finally,) and then they schedule us for the breaker work (that should have happened a long time ago.) I received assurance that it was on the schedule for 8/1 (only to be rescheduled to 8/3) and that the panels would be turned on within a few days of that work being done. And sure enough, an ADT employee was here but said our electric company was a no show and they would have to reschedule. Well, wouldn't you know it, another LIE. I called our electric company and they never had us on the schedule because our account is missing paperwork from ADT that they requested from them in MID-APRIL! If I wasn't chasing any of this down, I would be just be sitting here dumb to the fact that this should NEVER be taking this long. So much for not having pay crazy electric bills again during another AZ summer. I want these panels off my roof because we all know that if this is the kind of service I am getting now, I will never find a resolution is the system malfunctions. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT choose ADT Solar.

Buyer Beware!!!

In the beginning it seemed legit but things didn’t start to add up. The salesman was the only helpful person. We were told the process would take sometime, but what we got was another thing. I’ve seen other solar set ups and ours doesn’t look like them. Its all over our back wall. Its an eye sore! The electric bill was down in the beginning but now we are paying a high power bill and a solar loan bill! They are not what they seem. As for the $1000 check we were suppose to get to do what we want with, that was a lie. The salesman said it would come to us. The office said it would come to us. The owner said it would come to us. When I called and asked why they had not sent it to us, they said it was a clerical error and they would send it to us right away, that’s what customer service said. Next thing we know the check was sent to the energy company and then told after we finally got someone to answer our questions that it was always suppose to go to the energy company. Stay away from ADT Solar you will be an after thought as soon as they get their money. They said our battery would last us 3 to 4 days after a power outage, try less then 4 hours with just fans on. Now we’re stuck with a system and a company that does not care about its customers!!!!

We were told initially of the savings to our electric bill, NOT. My husband realized shortly after installation that the system was not producing as promised. We figured with added insulation in attic, garage, walls and windows we would receive the same savings the panels produced. The horrible situation arose when we needed to replace our roof. It was determined that our system stopped reporting August of 2021. However, our electric bill ranged between $161.00 and $284.61 within that year. In April SunPro employees took the panels off, the roof was replaced SunPro came back and placed the panels back. No one checked to see if the panels were working, they simple placed them back on the roof and left. Before the new roof the panels produced between 2838 - 3276 kilowatts. After the new roof production of the panels in May was 85 kilowatts (down significantly) resulting in a bill of $406.00. We figured due to the removal the bill would be higher. The production of the panels in June was a meager 50 kilowatts resulting an electric bill of $507.00. After the panels were placed back on the roof my husband called several times to get someone to come out and check to make sure they were working properly and was constantly told "you are in the queue." When someone was finally sent out after several more complaints, he found 2 of the 22 panels were not working, some wire damage and we would have to wait 10 for our system to adjust itself to the non-reporting since August 2021. if only 2 panels are not working what about the other 20 panels. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Customer Service

Like many of the other reviews that I have seen on this page my wife’s and mine started out to be a good one. Once we meet with sales agent the following process went down hill really fast the first tech came to our home and checked out lights etc, he said we would hear something in a few days only after 2 weeks did we here from a agent of the company stating that we needed to sign another contract. Once we got thru that process it was weekly updates that they could not submit anything to our local utility by there legal department since ADT was in the process of purchasing Sun Pro. In last couple weeks I have talked to both our sales rep and his area manger yet here we are we started this process in late April now July is almost over and today we got notification that the contract we signed is now being terminated because our system has been unsatisfied. If you plan on going with ADT Solar I would think twice since the only thing I could get out of any there employees was excuses and not to much on solving issues.

John, we hate to hear that this has been your experience. Unfortunately as with any construction project somethings are our of our control. Our team is looking into your project to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else in the future.

Installation of Solar Panels & Battery

Installation of solar panels in August 2020 was quick and easy - great salesman and installation staff. Some issues with communications to get system up and running. Solar Battery was ordered in April 2021 & installed on September 30, 2021. Installation was quick and easy, but getting the battery & system running took close to a month. Our information was linked to an account in NW Austin and received little to no support from SUNPRO, We contacted Perganales and they troubleshooted for us and relayed the issues to SUNPRO. Salesman Chase Bradford gave us incorrect information on what the battery could and could not do. We were assured the HVAC would NOT run off the battery at night while running the entire house... the HVAC drained the battery in 1 hour. It took weeks of poor communications with ADT/SUNPRO - customer service was great in recording the information, but when it was passed on to the next level - no response. Mayra was instrumental in getting us answers and it was a learning experience for us all. Salesman and technicians need more training and support to give customers the correct information. Needless-to-say we were mislead by the salesman who sold us the battery and when we contacted him - we were passed off to customer support. Our battery does not support running the house at night because HVAC sucks it dry. We have to put the battery on 100% reserve in order for the battery not to be drained by HVAC, which is good for power outages as the battery kicks in to run the house. We were mislead and given poor information... I even question the number of solar panels installed - to few. Will NOT recommend ADT/SUNPRO to neighbors or friends. Have NOT heard from ADT/SUNPRO for any restitution in this matter...
