Wish I went with another company

Terrible communication. People are nice, good customer service isn't a real option it seems. They just send people to your home with zero communication, notice or scheduling. First crew that installed my panels didn't paint them, left brackets, nuts, bolts, zip ties and wires all over my roof. Several of those items fell and could of hit my child or pet on their head. They smoked weed on my property inside the Penske truck that transported my panels here. Panels were installed the day before the Superbowl and I didn't hear from anyone until a month later when a guy rang my doorbell. I would not recommend. My next home I will not use Sunpro for anything.

Oh no Kaisey! that doesn't sound good at all! We will have someone reach out to you from our customer success team to investigate into the matters you brought up today.

Great until the get their sale

Terrible experience with sunpro, all fluff all rainbows and unicorns until the sale is made, so obsessed with the damn sale they will steam roll your requests to slow down. Sunpro installed their panels in November after I asked them 9 different ways to postpone, they provided false reassurances to my concerns and then when I complained had the gall to act like they were doing me a favor… I’m the one saddled with almost 40k in debt for the next 25 yrs smh still waiting for invitations to leave reviews still waiting 3 months down the road for the panels to be hooked up still waiting for the “free home efficiency inspection with next thermostat” go with a smaller more accountable company that actually cares about their customers concerns.

Start to finish

When I first signed up with sunpro, they were very helpful and friendly. Everything was going well till the panels were installed. Little by little I heard less and less from them. I was told that everything would be done by October of 2021, here we are January 7th of 2022 and still can't get them to come and do the energypro part of the contract. I guess I paid for that and got screwed. As soon as I started making payments to the credit union all communication stopped. Watch out for them they start out nice til you start paying the they cut you off.

Not worth it

I am glad I waited several months before posting my review of SunPro because the initial interactions that we had with our sales representative, Kendal, is not at all the same quality that has been provided to us by the SunPro company. We had our initial consultation with Kendal in August of 2020 and our solar panels were installed in late October 2020 (first billing cycle Nov. 2020). Kendal was incredibly friendly and helpful in answering all of our solar questions. He explained how his team would take into account the angle of our roof and the amount of shade around the house when recommending how many panels to install. In the end he recommended that we install 17 panels so that our power produced would not exceed the power we used (resulting in a sell-back that is less lucrative). Our goal with our panels was to be as close to 100% energy independent as possible, and according to him, 17 panels should make our energy bills as close to $0 as possible. He also said we needed to take down a tree to make sure the panels could be effective, so that’s what we did. However, once the panels were installed the power produced seemed to be minimal compared to what we were promised during our consultation. While it is expected that the panels produce less during the winter months and on cloudy days, even during cloudy days typically panels will produce at least 0.3kWh. Overall the energy production from our panels has been less than expected. Part of what SunPro does when they install the panels is also to come into the home and make it more energy efficient by installing a Nest and replacing all light bulbs and extension cords with more energy efficient ones. They also make suggestions on what you could do to make other areas of your home more energy efficient. My husband and I found this very useful and took many of there recommendations. For example during the month of July our thermostat was set between 74 and 77 degrees and in June we even replaced a part on our AC unit to make it more energy efficient. However, since we installed our solar panels we have seen our energy consumption increase despite making the recommended adjustments and making no other changes to our lifestyle. In July 2021, our energy bill was $197, almost the same amount as our July bill last year WITHOUT solar panels. I called SunPro for help on July 13th, and they still have yet to get back to us with information despite several follow-up calls/emails. During our consultation we were informed that we would receive a 26% federal tax credit for $10,000 which we would then be able to put back towards the panels. The tax credit we actually received was less than $7,000. So in addition to still paying decent-sized energy bills (like $197 in July), we also have to find $3k that we weren’t expecting to have to pay out-of-pocket. Needless to say these panels have not been as cost effective as we originally believed based on our consultation.

Very Disappointing

First of all, we would not choose to install solar if we had it to do over again. If we had been informed, we would have avoided getting sucked into the sales pitch we were given about selling power back to the electric company. Sunpro sales failed to inform us of the paltry pay-back the utility would give us for the power we now generate on their behalf. Basically, the electric company charges thirty times more for power than they pay us for our meter "running backwards". Oh how the solar industry loves to use that term, but what it means at the end of the day is that we are paying on a large loan to generate power for them. Nor were we informed that the loan we took out for solar would be considered by most banks a 2nd mortgage on our property. We had endless problems with Sunpro and would NOT recommend this company to anyone. From the time we signed a contract it took TEN months to get hooked up to the grid! Along the way we had regular and innumerable problems with Sunpro dropping the ball on us, to the point of ridiculousness. We are thoroughly disgusted at this point, especially because the state inspector that finally showed up informed us that we had just that day appeared on the state docket — after being told by SunPro that they had submitted the inspection request weeks prior. We kept hearing things from the SunPro office that turned out to be false. There were multiple problems with the administrative offices of this company — while we feel that the ground crews did a good job when they were here for installation work. Here is the list of issues we've had with this company — 1 - The salesman did not convey the complexity of our installation — either to us (ahead of signing) or to the SunPro staff so that they could assess the installation ahead of time. This resulted in confusion and delays, and a less than optimal execution vis a vis protecting our trees. 2 - There were multiple miscommunications on SunPro's part that resulted in project delays. We often felt that it was only through our own diligence that information got conveyed between involved entities, to wit: SunPro's various teams, our electric company, and government offices. 3 - Our installation was supposedly scheduled, and we were ready and waiting at home for the crew... which never showed up. In following up, we learned that our "account manager" had spaced it out. This resulted in another two weeks' delay. 4 - On a regular basis we were told we would receive call-backs from SunPro staff to update us on status and in answer to our questions. Frequently we did not receive promised phone calls from the seven different "account managers" that were assigned to us (including at least one supervisor). We found it surprising and confusing that we kept hearing, "I'm your new account manager." This shuffling between staff members demonstrably contributed to delays and misinformation. We ultimately found out that we'd been lied to about inspection scheduling, resulting

Not a good value at this time

A large company that has a lot of experience and growing pains of fast expansion. The installers and electrician were excellent and performed a quality job. The communication from their office administration, schedulers and operations team was horrendous . Had to spend hours of my own time to contact the city inspectors and JEA (Utility company) to push project forward because quite simply Sun pro was not doing it. The value is just not there, realized too late. JEA sell rate of approximately .07 a KwH plus fees make it cost prohibitive for a solar system in North Florida. JEA only buys solar at .035 a KwH which means the system you will have to purchase will have to produce three times the power your house uses. When you you see the cost of that system you will come to the conclusion the value is not there.

Horrible Customer Service/Responsiveness

At the end of July, we entered into a contract with SunPro Solar to install a solar panel unit on our home. On Aug 27, we signed documents revising our plan 16 panels with two Tesla powerwall units instead of 29 panels (HOA wouldn't allow panels on front of home). We signed the design approval on September 9. We were informed that "we" the homeowner needed to contact the Electric company to schedule a temporary shut off. When I called our Electric company they stated the Solar company usually does this, but allowed us to schedule a time. The install was schedule for Oct.19 and was a complete disaster from the beginning. The electric company didn't show up to disconnect power on time and when they did, it was the wrong guy. (No fault of the Solar company, sort of). I feel like had they scheduled it, then the right guy would have been there for the job. Turns out the electric blueprints were not allowed by our Electric company (although, it appears it was signed off on) again, no big deal. So, the panels were put into place, but they aren't "connected". We were told new plans for the electric would need to be drawn and approved. The city inspector showed up and stated that he was sent the first plans and not the revised plans. We reached out to the company numerous times to get information on the progress being made and no one has reached out to us in a meaningful way. We were contacted by our project coordinate to let us know that a "post install" coordinator would be contacting us, but we aren't post project. We've emailed the post install coordinator, called her numerous times, and had customer service try to transfer us/ notate that we needed to be contacted. All to no avail as of the time of this review.

Referred by son

It’s been a few weeks no install , got a contractor waiting to build a pergola to put panels on. Problem is our sales guy can’t get the project coordinator to call and plan this and pull the permits req to build it. We keep getting told “he will call tomorrow “ but tomorrow never comes. Been waiting for a week now. At this point thinking maybe just cancel they obviously don’t want to go solar with us.

2 months and inspection not completed

My installation has been completed since 6/11/2020, however the inspection has not been completed. I have to put my time in to call the city to schedule an inspection. By now the Electric company should have been updating the meter. In 2 weeks, I will be obtaining a bill from the loan company and electric company, but yet my job has not been completed.

Hardware good, savings promised misleading

The salesman explained that the system designed for us would cover 100% of our power needs. If we had visitors, he would credit $1,000 to our electric utility account to cover that extra usage. Great! What he did not explain was that the power our panels produced in excess of our usage, was not purchased at the same rate as what we paid for power from the utility. He recommended against battery storage due to cost. The lack of storage is why we are paying for electricity from the utility still. During peak production time for our panels, if we don't use the power, it gets sold back to the utility at a cut rate. After dark we still buy from the grid. So the bottom line is we still have an electric bill after agreeing to buy $30K of panels. $60K w/interest! The installation was good and mostly professional, but wire trimmings left in the yard.

Enthusiastic to get in the door

I'll start this with , the two things I hate most in this world is a liar and a thief and while I won't out right point out any particular person yet , it sure seems like my wife and myself were dooped from the start . This sight asked for a detailed review so that's what I'll give. So I found this sites " solar calculator and filled out the form and quickly got called by SunPro to set up a meeting so we had an appt. at 12 noon on a Saturday , and the calls began . " I'm running behind , I'll be there at 2" , ok I say , call #2 , " man things are taking longer than I thought , looks like it'll be 5 , I apologize , the presentation won't take that long . If you want to reschedule I'll understand . " No I say we've , sat home all day waiting just get here . 6 pm he pulls up and the wonderful world of solar is laid out before us, please don't misunderstand , I wanted this and was excited to see how this might benefit us and help us financially in the future . We were GUARANTEED several times over that our monthly payments would be $150.00 a month for the next 25 years and how the electric company would be raising rates @ 5% annually and we would be "locked in" at $150 and all would be great in the universe . Welp , after a 3 hour tree hugging session and the fact that it was now 9pm and I'm ready for this guy to get out of my house we were signing and when we ( she ) started looking over the fine print the " oh , it basically says this and that and you can go over it later just sign here and there and I can leave you folks to rest or something to that effect . Welp , we got a letter from our electric company saying we had to up our homeowners ins. to $100,000 before we get the smart meter , then another saying they want to be added to our policy so if we make a claim the check we would recieve would also have they're name on it and that's where $*#! has hit the fan. we were told by SunPro that we will have to pay $13,000 or so if we want to back out and so now I'm going to seek council to see if we have an option to have these panels removed from our house and walk away free and clear. We were told they take care of ALL permits and contacting the utilities and all we had to do is sign the dotted line . So my question is , did they know we would have to give our claims away or that after 6 mos. our payments would be what our highest light bill has ever been in the last 13 yrs. ? oh and that if we backed out after all this , we are responsible for paying the difference when they sell our panels at used price when they've never been turned on ? I have never written a review like this before but man I feel like we have been slimed from the first meeting to the present . Good luck and be careful .
