ADT closes solar business
ADT took over for Sunpro for a mire 8 months , now ADT is out of the solar business. No notice, no recommendations as to who will continue to cover any maintenance for my $80K worth of solar panel's. I have been digging into too who is responsible to help me get my power back on track to collect power. Do not install solar with any company. They are all n it to make money fast, then go bankrupt.

Incompetent and Rude
The first year was great, solar installation with SunPro and set up went perfect and my electric bill was lower. I was happy, until my roof started to leak. Now I'm dealing with ADT Solar customer service that does not care, does not do their job and laughs at me for asking for them to fix the damage done to my roof because of the solar panels when I am only 2 years into my supposed 25 year warranty. If you want to go solar, please look anywhere but here, it has been a nightmare for the past two months with no end in sight with more damage being done to my ceiling and roof.

Horrible customer service
System was installed in the early summer of 2022. After three months the system went active at the end of August 2022. Worked fine until August of 2023 when suddenly the system stopped reporting. I assumed this was a system error that would be fixed after I rebooted the WiFi router. In September I received a bill from my local electric provider of over $250 for using the grid electric which up until this point I had been producing more electric than I used. Contacted ADT only to be told I needed to reboot the system and if they sent a technician out I would be charged for the service. Was emailed a self how-to video with instructions on how to reboot the system and reconnect to WiFi. Opened the panel only to find that there was no power to panel. Contacted ADT again and was told a work order would be submitted and someone would contact me to schedule a service. A month later I had not heard anything from ADT so I called back and was told a work order was pending. This went on and on for two months. At the end of November I filed a complaint with the BBB. I also drove to the local office only to find the local office closed down at the beginning of November 2023 with no notice. I received an email from Nicole Read who claimed she would help resolve my issues and get me scheduled for service. It is now mid January 2024 and my system is still down with no scheduled date for service to fix the system. I have multiple emails with Nicole Read and every time it’s the same BS that they are working on getting a service scheduled with a provider and no date is provided of when this will be fixed. Calling customer service gets you the usual “it’s pending for service” and they will not let you speak with anyone else regarding the matter. Twice the customer service representative hung up on me after voicing my frustration with having to pay for the system and an electric bill. I DO NOT RECOMMEND SOLAR FOR ANYONE. ITS NOT WHAT THEY SAY IT IS AND YOU WILL JUST BE STUCK WITH A PIECE OF CRAP WORTHLESS SYSTEM. ADT has the worst customer service. I spent thousands of dollars on equipment I cannot even use.

All ADT said was sorry. So now I have a solar system at my home that doesn’t work unless you have power from power company DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON SOLAR ITS A RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Horrible; They Steal Your Money and Leave You Hanging
I paid cash for my solar panels, which went up in September 2023. It is now January 2024. They caused my project to fail the electrical inspection, claim they have no report of that inspection or the building inspection that I passed. People answer the phones who know nothing and say they will pass messages to those in charge of my project and I'll get a call. I never get called back. On January 3 I will report them to the BBB. I want my job finished ASAP (I was supposed to be up and running no later than the end of December) OR they can take their panels off, give me a new roof (so I have no holes in it) at their expense put on by my roofer of choice, and refund me my more than $28,000. It scares me if they finish my project because I will probably have to go to the BBB if I need service down the road. They don't sell anymore in Nebraska, and they didn't tell me this until the final day off installation; so they have apparently given up on those of us in the state. AVOID THIS SCAMMING COMPANY.

Still waiting to have panels taken off so roof can be replaced
We had to wait almost 8 months in order to get our system up and going. My electric bill has only gone down about $20 so all of the savings they promised was a lie. Due to hail damaged we received in July 2023, we need to have the panels removed so we can get a new roof. We opened a case at the end of August 2023 and on September 7th 2023 I had to send them a check for about $2,500 so they can get the permit process started. It is now almost December and we are being told they are pulling out of the Oklahoma market. We are trying to get a refund from them so that we can hire someone else to remove them so we can get the roof replaced but they are telling us if we do that, it will void our warranty. They're probably been 30 calls made to their customer service. No one ever calls us back and every time we get a project manager, the next time we call they no longer work there. Because it took so long to get them installed and inspected, it's too late to cancel the contract even though the system is not performing as promised. I really believed ADT to be an upstanding company but obviously I was mistaken. I'm unsure what's going to have to happen at this point because my homeowners insurance is questioning why the roof replacement has not been done.

Don’t do it!!!
Beware of the empty promises. We put 100,000.00 into Solar to ensure no power bill. They promised we would have enough Solar to not have a power bill on top of the Solar payments. I up front told them I could not afford both. I now have a 500.00 per month Solar bill for 25 years and electric bill of 200.00 per month. Prior to Solar my largest bill was 420.00 per month. They said I’m using more power. No. We definitely are not. Air hasn’t changed and nothing else changed. I can’t seem to get response. My Tesla battery was installed but not connected for 5 months. To gain response to that I had to complain on better business bureaus. Sure enough it was never installed correctly. Now they fixed that and I swear panels disconnected. No one has been out to help me and I’m in a situation of needing another job to pay for this crappy system. Don’t go Solar!! You aren’t helping the planet. Trust me.

Has not worked as promised in nearly 2 years
I should've canceled when we first started having problems and delays during the initial install! Once the panels were installed it took months to get the system inspected, permitted, then approved so that the system could be turned on. I convinced my wife to wait until the system was active and to give it a chance and boy was I an idiot for doing so! By the time everything was up an running our 6 month cancelation period had passed. Not even 2 months later half the system went down and it wasn't producing any power. After we discovered the problem we contacted the company and were told that a team of technicians would come out to look at the system. That team of technicians didn't come out until nearly 3 months later. We were told that something was done incorrectly during the install that wasn't caught by the final inspection. By this time SunPro Solar had been bought up by ADT and became ADT Solar. The company paid $1000 to GA Power to compensate for this failure on their part and we thought we were finally good to go. We were sorely mistaken as we came to find out that our system was not giving us the returns we were promised for the investment. It was supposed to reduce our GA Power bill by at least $200 a month instead our power bills were still $260-$360 a month and we were now paying for the solar loan. Then came the next shock, our solar loan bill jumped by an extra $100 a month! The Sales rep neglected to mention that we needed to pay the finance company almost $25k by a certain date or our bill would go up! This was supposed to be explained during the initial contract discussion and it wasn't! We never received the "welcome call" from the finance company that was supposed to explain all this. Now I am stuck with 2 large bills that the solar "savings" was supposed to offset. No power company savings and another $368 bill for a useless Solar system. We have made numerous complaints to ADT Solar and either get a run around or promised a call back and no one ever calls back. We were promised a review back in March of this year and sent ADT Solar all of our power bills for the last year and got ZERO response. We followed up back in August and sent them the power bills from March to August and were again told our system was under review. Still no response from the company assigned rep! Now something happened to our system and half my home is without power. The half that is backed up by the solar does not work! The half of my home that is not "protected" by the solar backup and is just powered by GA POWER works just fine. When I called today I was given a ticket# and told that a technician would contact me. With my experience in how poor the customer service is I am not holding my breath for a quick response. I wish I could cancel my contract that I am now stuck with and I am far beyond dissatisfied with this company. I will tell anyone and everyone to run far far away from any dealings with ADT Solar!

Insurance Scam or worse
Contacted ADT Solar to have the solar panels removed and replaced because my roof needed to be replaced in an unincorporated county within 60 days. It had to be done in 60 days or the insurance would not pay out. This was discussed with the first person on the phone in early August. That was the best part of the experience with ADT Solar. From there it was AWFUL. I was passed from department to department. Had to have CAD drawings done that raised the estimate for the insurance (Yes, this was for a removal and replacement in the exact same location). Then they had to call for permits, which they had been told that I lived in an area that was unincorporated and didn't need them. I had to follow up on everything, because there was no communication. The absolute worst was Marcos Cocom. He was not able to complete any task or communicate anything. On re-install, he asked if he needed to get permits. Yes, I lost money to the insurance company on this, because of ADT Solar's lack of process and procedure. You should have the original CAD drawings from the original install. The house hasn't changed in 2 years. If it had, I would understand new drawings, but it hadn't. This was clearly to run up the bill. That was the scam part of the process. On the re-install, I replied to the text message that Marcos sent and SURPRISE, no reply. SO, I called the toll free number. No response from anyone. So, I emailed everyone that I had talked to over the previous time on the removal process. Here comes Marcos again. Marcos said, the toll free number doesn't work, but I talked to someone from ADT Solar??? Oh and he got my text message. After two more emails asking about when it would be re-installed, the installers finally contact me and it is re-installed in a week. This was an awful mess. Don't worry, you only cost me $9000

I bought this system 6 months ago and they still have not turned the system on, they have no commination to the customer after they get your money. Do not pay them before the panels are installed, as you will never see them again and they will not let you know the status of the system, instead you must call them and plead to get you system turned on. This was a lot of money and they refuse to communicate or turn the thing on.

The Stuff of Nightmares
ADT solar purchased Sunpro last year, and our solar project became the stuff of nightmares. They started that merger like every corporate monster - by firing everyone and refusing to honor agreements made by former reps. It took us the better part of a year to receive reimbursement we had agreed to in writing for a tree removal completed prior to installation. Permit requests were lost, staff were rude and unhelpful in getting those done, and local offices repeatedly made clerical errors leading to delays. Our original install date was supposed to be in may or June of 2022, and we finally received our panels on September of 2022. There’s where the real fun begins! All through the winter of ‘22 and ‘23 we had a persistent leak in our roof. We had ADT out 6 or 7 times to repair it, with the issue worsening each time. We have continued this process all summer of 2023 and have finally received confirmation our roof will be replaced. However, more scheduling and clerical issues have led to an upcoming rainy weekend - and NO roof replacement. Buy solar panels. The panels themselves are great! But stay faaaaar away from ADT Solar if you don’t want 15 months of clerical nightmares and a leaky roof.

SCAM, salesperson lied.
We were told that if we produced more energy via solar panels than we consumed in electercity, we would not pay anything in electric bill. LIES! According to our meter readings, our lifetime usage thus far has been 76.5 MWh produced thru solar panels, and 72.4 MWh consumed in electricity. Thats a net plus of +4.1 MWh. Clearly, we produce more than we consume, yet we are still paying on a light bill. How is that? Well, solar is a SCAM, thats how. Especially Sunpro.

Beware
I have had nothing but problems since installation. I did above ground installation and the quality of the material is cheap. Installation day the trench digger broke at the very beginning of the job. I called the guy that sold them to me and he contacted his manager so that a trench digger could be rented because the workers were not digging deep enough by shovel for the wiring that was going from house to the panels. I never heard back and they would not answer my call. I have had solar panels fly off in windy days because they were not screwed in tight enough, the holes were not deep enough to keep the mount in the ground. They knew that the installation needed to be redone and i have called multiple times to get this fixed and they just leave me on hold. More than half of my panels are broken and the mount is leaning and will eventually will fall. Do not do business with this company. I would give this business 0 stars if I could but it makes me give 1 star.

If I had to do it again, I would NOT choose ADT
I initially signed with SunPro to have our solar panel system installed. Shortly after entering into a contract with SunPro the company was sold to ADT. This is when the issues started. The panels were on my roof for 18 months before the system was active. After about a year FINALLY had our first inspection. The plans that were submitted to the county did not match the actual system that was installed, so we failed our first inspection. In each case, ADT assured me that the plans would be updated to match the work that was done and resubmitted to the county. Another 4 failed inspections for the same issue later, I opened a complaint with the BBB and ADT finally got things working. After the system was finally activated, I noticed a large discrepancy between the amount of power the system said it was sending pack to the grid versus what the power company claimed. It turns out ADT installed the CT sensor in the wrong place and it wasn't reporting the power that the air conditioner was using - not an insignificant amount of power here in Florida. It took nearly a month to get someone from ADT to resolve this issue. A few weeks later roughly half of the inverters in my system stopped reporting to the gateway. I called ADT to report the issue on May 15, 2023. I called ADT once a week but the number takes you to a call center where the representatives can only enter information and check the status. After 7 weeks of this, I created another complaint with the BBB and ADT responded. It took 5 visits to get the issue fixed. Each visit was a different technician with a different reason for the problems and the "fix" would last a day or two before roughly half of the inverters went offline again. I finally managed to get someone from ADT on the phone (not a call center) and she informed me that there should only be 13 panels/inverters on each breaker. It turns out ADT installed 20 panels on one breaker and that kept tripping the breaker. When the tech came out after I spoke with ADT, I had to communicate the problem to the tech - ADT apparently does not believe in internal communications. After 4 months, I have a fully operational system again. I truly hope it continues to work without issues because dealing with ADT is terrible. They are slow to respond, don't communicate internally and generally don't seem to know what they're doing. Had I known that ADT would be purchasing SunPro I would have picked a different installer/provider. We previously had ADT for our home alarm and customer service was just as bad for that, so we switched to another provider years ago. It's a shame that a company as large as ADT with the corresponding resources does such a a poor job. A coworker went with another provider and had a fully functional, trouble-free system installed in less than a month. Do yourself a favor and avoid ADT.
