Latest good review thumbs up

Satisfied Decatur Customer | Decatur, Georgia | 03/27/2021

delighted to be part of the solution

It took a while to get everything installed, the Tesla battery in particular, because of covid shut downs, so our panels were not up and running that first summer. But less than a month after work was completed, a storm knocked over an oak which popped two electric poles in half, leaving the whole street with no power. We had power because of the battery. In fact we encouraged neighbors to recharge their devices in our garage. Everything worked as promised. And now with spring, the output is better (house surrounded by trees). Not having to listen to a generator to keep both refrigerators going was great. Oh, and all the staff were super nice.

Latest bad review thumbs down

One P.Oed customer | Charlotte, North Carolina | 02/22/2019

Poor communication and promises

It has been over 3 months since we first had our solar panels installed, and they are still not activated. I was promised a month to 2 months maximum for activation. The lack of communication from the company to the client is non-existent. I was constantly promised the project manager (Jamie) would be in contact with me and I never heard from him/her the 3 times I was told they'd reach out to me. I have been paying for both duke energy and my large loan. Granted they are reimbursing me until the panels get turned on, but that's not the point. Apparently, the county inspector first signed off on the the inspection, and then retracted their approval. After a month, I still had not found out why my panels were active. I actually had to call and find out for myself 35 days after the inspection. Summit Solar failed to call and tell me what the hold up was. I have initiated every single conversation and update as to why my panels are still not activated. There is no communication, and this makes for an extremely bad experience.

great company

We had a positive experience from the moment we met Tony who sold us the system to all the contact we had from the company and the installers. We love watching the power flow from our phone apps. I can't wait to get all my friends to install solar with my friends at Summit.

Go Summit Solar | Montgomery, Illinois | 07/01/2019

Great Consultation & Install

I chose them for their communication and education of the system and the type of systrm that they were going to install. They were very informative and HONEST. I can't say that others were as clear and I questioned their transparency.

Top notch company!

Awesome experience from day one! Frank came into our home and presented us with our system. Very easy to talk to and not pressuring at all. Today, we had our install and again the crew was awesome. It had just finished snowing and an ice storm yesterday but that didn't stop this crew! They prepped the roof to remove the snow and ice and got to work. Very friendly and completed the job today (one day)! I would highly recommend Summit Solar to anyone! Thank you for making it so easy!

Tax info

Summit did an excellent job, but you should know that if you generally get a large refund every year when it is tax time, you probably will not get the 30% solar credit too. It will carry forward to your tax liability for the following year, but if you have a refund that year as well it still does not help you get the solar credit refund. I generally need the child tax credit refund for other bills and thought the solar credit would be a separate refund that I would put back into the solar loan, but it is not working out that way unfortunately.

Good Job

They came and went and everything went as they said. It all works. They provide ongoing support and tax information necessary for filing.I am very pleased.
