Fantastic Company

After making an inquiry on adding solar to my home, I researched the options. The first company (company "A") visited my home and provided a great presentation. Further research on solar and what size i needed based on usage and how much i spent on energy, led me find that company "A" was selling me a system that was undersized system. I researched for more solar companies and found company "B" and Southern Exposure Solar. There were several things i found out i needed to consider, such as size, cost, warranty, and "who" the warranty is with. I had (have) a lifetime warranty on my kitchen cabinets, except the company no longer exist - so no warranty. I sent a few emails to several companies inquiring about solar, company “B” responded but never once attempted to make personal contact; either requesting to call or visit the home. Southern Exposure Solar, on the other hand, emailed and called, we worked around each other’s schedules to conduct a visit at the home. I dealt with Grayson and several others at Southern Exposure Solar from the beginning of the process and he still contacts me to see how I feel about the system. Grayson took the time to come out, look at the house and the layout, took measurements, and asked questions before providing an actual quote. Honest, Ethical and Meticulous Workmanship

I have talked to at least 10 solar companies trying to do my due diligence to make sure I end up with the right company for an investment like this big Many try to use sales incentives and oversell you with panels. They all sound great and appealing until I found Southern Exposure Solar. These guys are honest, ethical and super professional. They take pride with the quality of their work and are very meticulous with their planning and construction to make sure everything is perfect and your home is in good hands. They have 25 years warranty through CERTAINTEED which was a confirmation to me on their quality craftsmanship. Grayson is there to assist and answer all my questions and probably took more time than usual with me because of my myriad of questions - yet he remained patient and pleasant. He did not oversell me with more panels and stuck with the analytics of their program to make sure I get the best bang for the buck. Save yourself some time, Southern Exposure is the right people to set you up with solar panels. We are extremely happy with our unit. I have been curious about installing solar panels on my home since it was built 6 years ago, but it wasn’t until last year that I got motivated to educate myself on the process and make it happen. As I was doing my research I interviewed several companies and researched others on energysage.com. The larger companies I spoke with tried to sell hard on the Solar Federal Tax credit or ITC, asked me to ignore their higher price per watt estimates and often put an exaggerated emphasis on a brand of solar panel, instead of the overall design of the system. What I then found in Southern Exposure Solar was different, if not refreshing. The process was a lot like working with our custom builder for our home, where they walk you through the options of a full system design, each component part, exterior design esthetics and comprehensive warranties, and invite your input to meet your design goals and budget. They use the aurora solar design software which provides them with a satellite image of your roof and the ability to calculate expected production based upon the sun’s patterns on your roof. These guys love “geeking-out” about all things Solar and they want to bring you into its culture without allowing you to feel overwhelmed. In my first few months of production, I’ve been blown away by the quality of the CertainTeed Solstice Solar System they installed. During the recent ice storms here in Central Virginia these panels took a pounding and emerged in perfect working order! They also look really good up on the roof, which had a lot to do with the black IronRidge rail system that Southern Exposure Solar uses and how the panels were placed on the roof. The installation team was professional, thorough and provided a platinum level service that I expected for my custom-built home in Hallsley. Not only do I continue to be satisfied with the amazing productivity of the system in the first quarter of this year, but looking back on the entire process I found that I came to respect and trust this small company. Whether you’re looking to install a big system to fully offset your monthly electrical bill or a smaller system to give back to our environment, Southern Exposure Solar is the right choice!

These guys are the absolute best.

From start to finish, Southern Exposure Solar exceeded my expectations.  First, they were the only solar company willing to show up on-site for a consultation and take actual physical measurements.  Competitors only wanted to guess via inaccurate/outdated satellite data.  Second, the biggest differentiator is the Certainteed backed 25-year warranty cover parts/labor, everything with the install.  This is especially nice considering Certainteed also provided my roofing materials.  This is only available through Southern Exposure Solar.  When I had questions, ideas, concerns, etc., to ensure I was getting maximum value out of the project, they were always courteous and willing to ensure they did right by me first and foremost.  For example, when I needed to move two plumbing vents, they had an up to code solution, which didn't sacrifice solar production, and ensure the end result looked amazing.  Additionally, many companies give little leeway to customers for routing conduit from the roof.  However, Southern Exposure Solar ensured my end result preserved the architectural beauty of my home, despite the challenge it presented them.  Financing was smooth and easy, their customer care was top notch.  Finally, they showed up, finished the job on time, and ensured 100% of my requirements were satisfied.  I couldn't ask for anything more and wholeheartedly recommend them.

Trustworthy company in a "Shady" field

I do not normally leave reviews but feel it important to leave one for Grayson, Fred and their team. They are first class from cradle to grave. I signed a contract with these guys and they came back to me and showed me a way to save thousands, voided the original contract and resigned the new one. Moralistic Integrity at its finest. They will take care of you.

Outstanding team

Of all the solar companies I reached out to, Southern Exposure Solar were the only company that actually requested and showed up to my House to explain and go over the system with me. Grayson Goodstein and Dylan Kowal were very professional and knowledgeable. The warranty on their system was the best I was able to find, 25 years on everything!!. Fred Walker and his team were outstanding, I am glad I went with their recommendations for the conduit run . They definitely did not choose the easy route for the conduit run, which looks better than any other solar insulation I have seen. Got my system installed in 2 days and inspected by the city on day 3. Will recommend Southern Exposure Solar to anyone looking at installing solar, ask about their warranty.
