Poor communication and follow up, lost net metering 2

had an existing solar system on net metering 2. They said they would add solar panels and a couple batteries without having my net Metering status change. They also said it would include a $1500 Visa gift card as part of a promotion. When it was initially installed and when it was not hot, the AC was not being used a lot so the first bill was actually OK. Since it has been hot, the bills have shot up to higher than expected. That is when I started to investigate and figure out what was going on. . Upon looking at my bill, I realize that I was being charged on the solar billing plan, which is Net metering 3 plan. No one from the company had followed up to tell me that this had happened. The original sales rep aaron Was the one who had made these plans, acting as a middleman salesperson with Solartech. Aaron has gone radio silence and has ignored emails about my complaint of my net meeting status changing and also about the company not living up to their promise of the reimbursement with the $1500 Visa gift card. I have been emailing and calling, trying to understand if my old solar system works with the batteries or not and Where that power is going. I spoke to a rep and he told me that indeed my old solar system was not connected to the batteries, which I was not informed of, and makes absolutely no sense. If it is not connected to the batteries then where is this power going then now? I asked them that question and he promised that someone would follow up. He did send a follow up email CCing, the correct people, and so far no one has reached out. I am very disappointed with my experience with this company. . So far, it has been empty promises and I have lost net metering 2 which at this point causes me to pay more for my energy, Because I get way less for the energy that I generate to the grid.

Terrible experience with SolarTech. My panels were installed in April after 6 months of delays and many calls, and I’m still paying both my solar payment and a regular electric bill because they are not doing their job. After countless calls to SolarTech, Enfin, and Omnidian I still have no solution. Technicians have even left my home without electricity twice. Months of payments, calls, and frustration with no accountability. I’m now considering legal action. I would not recommend SolarTech.

My experience working with Solar Tech Energy Systems has been extremely disappointing. Meco Electric performed substantial solar installation work for Solar Tech, and despite completing the work, we have been dealing with a significant unpaid balance for months. What makes this situation even more frustrating is that instead of resolving the payment dispute directly and fairly, I have received attorney letters threatening legal action over my public reviews and statements. I am a small subcontractor. I have crews, employees, payroll, insurance, materials, and operating expenses. Small contractors cannot perform large amounts of work and then wait months to be paid while the company benefiting from that work continues operating. I stand behind the work my company performed, and I have documentation, invoices, project records, communications, and customers who can speak about the quality of our work. I am sharing MY experience because other subcontractors deserve to understand the importance of protecting themselves, documenting everything, and making sure payment terms are enforced before taking on substantial work. I would still prefer to resolve this professionally. I simply want Meco Electric to be paid what it is legitimately owed for work performed

Contract Misrepresentation/Price charged not quoted/agreed to

Please do not use Solar Tech. I had solar installed 3 months ago after starting the process in June 2025. It took them 3 months to install and another month to activate. After the panels were installed, I received a call to go over my contact with included a different loan amount and amended monthly charges which were higher then my average Edison bill without solar. I disputed the contact and advised that I did agree or sign an amended contract. I am now 2 month into paying the solar bill and only being told by the lender- Goodleap, that they are investigating fraud. As a customer, Solar Tech and Greenleap are unethical and clearly are not a company to trust. I do not recommend as I was not charged the priced that were quoted nor did I agree to amended contract.

New project

SolarTech Inc (based in El Cajon, CA) has a mixed reputation, with recent reviews highlighting significant issues with project delays, poor communication, and slow customer service, alongside some reports of professional installation, according to Yelp reviews and Better Business Bureau complaints. This is shitty company. Lag of communication and customer service. Their number never can be reached after you paid for it. Stay away from this company.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. Horrible customer service. Not only did they take 2 months longer than promised and show absolutely no urgency to finish our project, not only did they fail to show up when they said they would or communicate with us at every stage of the process, but their technician literally dropped a solar panel off our roof and caused $1K of damage in our courtyard, which they only repaid after we hounded them for months. Would NOT recommend.

Bad install and no support from solar tech

We had solar tech come out for an installation. They never tighten the screw in the junction box that controls adding power to the home and back to the grid. Every day this solar box shorted out. We emailed and called for over 2 months to get someone out to troubleshoot. I had to fight with the tech to get them to come out and fix it. I was told there is no way it is a system issue. I escalated to sunpower and they finally came out. The first tech did not find the problem. I had to go through the calling and emailing again until they sent a better tech. He checked the box and found the screw was never tightened and causing a daily short. Our power bills were large due to summer rates and no solar. Also, they told us everything was fine when it was not. Now, they will do nothing to compensate us and ignore emails and calls. Don't use this company

Response from SolarTech Inc

Thank you for your review David. We did listen to your concerns and came out to investigate the problem. It was found to be an issue with your main panel, a loose screw, and after our investigation process we did pay you back by check for your loss of solar production. We take care of our customers when we find something that we did to cause an issue, in this case we made it right for you.

Poor technical knowledge, brut installers, and delayed service

1 because I have to leave a review. They are unprofessional, misguiding customers JUST to get business, poor work quality and ethics. Over a year to install Tesla Powerwall without any updates, stating their installers are construction workers and are not skilled to do clean work and so customers have to put up (see pictures). Designing critical loads w/o customer involvement as customers find half backed up critical load at power-outages. When reported to Solar Tech project manager Paul L, one finds him angry and mad that customers are reaching out to him post installation, asking for $500 a circuit. Gino S, is their sales rep, falsely assuring customers to lure contracts. After giving Gino business for first 2 powerwalls, I went with LA Solar for other 2 power walls, and no issues. In fact, they don't collect any funds and whole thing is funded by SGIP. Keep away from Paul and Gino at Solartech who bring shame to others at SolarTech

Response from SolarTech Inc

This is clearly taking advantage of a small business posting the same bad review on multiple sites when this was not what happened. We have tried to listen to your requests, but your constant profanity and belittling has hindered us from helping you. We communicated with you throughout every step in the process. Gino let you know this was a partial back up not a whole home back up, that is why you are now in the process of buying 2 more Tesla Powerwall’s for your home. The home has a 400 amp service panel, the (2) Powerwall’s are only able to put out 50 amps combine which is why it needed to be partial home backup. The length of time was due to COVID and delay in attaining the product which you were notified about. We communicated with you on the drywall cuts, we were told to leave them. We have crew ready to repair cuts like that, that is a normal part of the work we do daily. Paul is knowledgeable and helpful as a Service Manager. SolarTech has been in business for over 20 years helping Californian’s power their homes and businesses. We have tried to explain to you after multiple conversations, and site visits, that this was a partial back up of your 400-amp panel. An entire 200-amp sub-panel has been backed up for your critical loads and any additional circuits that you wanted re-located were never mentioned to us until recently-6 months after the installation has been completed. We don’t work in fear of bad reviews.

Warranty Issues

My wife and I have purchased panels through SolarTech twice now. Their customer service as far as sales and installation are top notch. Their customer service in regards to warranty issues though leaves much to be desired. They blame you, they blame SunPower, and don’t return calls. It got to the point where I had to file a formal complaint against them through SunPower. In the first 10 months our panels were installed we had 2 separate warranty issues. The first issue took 5 weeks for them to resolve. SolarTech has 2.33/5 stars on the Better Business Bureau website. Check out the reviews there, they are almost identical to ours.

Response from SolarTech Inc

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your repeat business. Education is upmost importance when installing solar. We recall your first solar system installation working well and continues to. As discussed with your new home, not having any electric bills to create a baseline was one speed bump we ran into. We strategized with you to create a system you liked and approved for install based on your usage at the time. When the monitoring went down, we were notified and were working with SunPower to work through updates. At the same time, we saw your energy consumption go up with the new pool and spa. Once the system was fixed and back on-line, we were then able to monitor and see your new consumption level, further with COVID, people home more and more consumption than expected. As previously discussed over phone conversation, SolarTech is not responsible for credits you may have accumulated while your monitoring is down. We do still advise you need to add more panels to your system to accommodate the new electric usage you are experiencing. We apologize for any misunderstanding and hope you understand the situation. Thank you for your business.
