Purchase of solar system

I classify myself as a consumer who researches any large purchase item before I decide to buy from a particular business and in this case I spent over two months to research the residential solar panel business. I looked at both the advantages and disadvantages of installing such a system on my home. Several people that I work with had solar panel systems installed in their homes within the past year and I constantly asked them questions regarding the process they went through from their initial sells call, their installation, turning on their system, and after several months of use what they thought about the benefits in reducing their electrical reliance on our area electrical service provider. All of them went on lease plans and each had varying amounts of time from their initial sales call to turning on their system (this varied from three to five months). A couple of my friends even asked me if they could refer me to their sales people who worked for one the nation's most advertised solar panel companies. After finishing my research, I found two companies that I contacted for sales presentations and I went ahead and told my friends to refer my name to their solar company. The first company representative gave my wife and I a very thorough presentation of their services and very competitive pricing in both purchase and lease options. The second company that came to my home was SolarMax represented by Marvin and Jeran. Both of these gentlemen were professional, courteous, and knowledgeable about their company and product. They answered all of the questions I had prepared ahead of time in simple layman terms giving me complete answers rather than vague explanations open to assumptions. The most important points from the SolarMax product is this company makes their on panels and not a third-party installer, they offer their own financing if you decide to purchase at very competitive rates when compared to other finance companies or banks. All of the people that we dealt with from Marvin and Jeran, the engineers, the finance personnel, the two crews of installers to the customer service people were some of the most professional, helpful and attentive employees who sought to meeting/answering the needs or questions my wife or myself had. We had our sales presentation on a Sunday evening, officially signed our purchase contract two days later and from approving the engineer's plans for panel installation to completing the install the whole process only took less than 60 days, all we are waiting for now is for the electric company to give their official notification (PTO)to turn our solar panel system switch on (about two weeks or less at the most). This is by far a faster and much smoother process than any of my co-workers who dealt with another company. If you are considering installing a solar panel system to your home, please do your research, ask other people who have systems already and consider contacting the company that I am strongly recommending on this site...SolarMax. If you do decide to contact them, I know you will get the information you need to make your decision, you will be dealing with good and knowledgeable professionals who will always treat you with respect and courtesy because they really understand that you and I are the "customer". They do not in anyway attempt to pressure you into making any decision until you are satisfied and ready to make that decision. I am so pleased with my overall experience with this company and its employees I will gladly speak or email anyone with more detailed information (just contact SolarMax and they have my permission to give out my contact information as a reference source). They may not be the only company out there that can provide the same great service but they are the company I decided to deal with and I am one truly happy and satisfied customer! John Pablo

Excellent Service

We were extremely satisfied with our SolarMax system purchase. After dealing with several other solar companies that took a high-pressure approach, it was refreshing to finally find a no pressure company that had our best interest in mind. Keith Graves, our SolarMax representative, was very personable and helped us weigh the various solar options and determine the best solar solution. We ended up buying our system for less than what other solar companies were quoting for a lease option. SolarMax surpassed our expectations and was far superior in terms of customer service, value, and quality than all of the other solar companies that we previously consulted with. The installation was quick, the system looks great, and we are looking forward to saving thousands as a result. I would highly recommend SolarMax to anyone looking for solar solutions for their energy needs.

Davis residence

The scheduling and installation didn’t go very well…. The installing crew showed up on Saturday and one of them told me he was short some guys because they were hung over from the night before. (Not to mention this guy had no knowledge of what conduit that needed to be installed) With the short crew, they didn’t finish the installation on Saturday. At the end of the day the same guy told me that they would be returning on Monday to finish the job. That Monday morning I call Ron (My PM) to see where the installers were and he told me I was not on the schedule for Monday. So, he rescheduled me for Tuesday morning between 7-9am. I called Ron on Tuesday morning around 8ish to see if they were on their way. he told me something happened on the scheduling and the crew had another job that morning and they would be there between 12-1. They finally showed up about 1:30. And again!!! With the late scheduling, they didn’t finish on Tuesday either…. So, I had to schedule my mother in-law for a 3rd time on her Birthday to wait for the installers to show up and finish the job on the 4th day of scheduling…. All of this could have been avoided if a full crew would have showed up on Saturday with all the info about the job….

Fantastic

Fantastic is an understatement. The SolarMax team has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Always on time, and the workmanship is above reproach. As a city manager I have had the opportunity to watch many contractors over the years and evaluate their workmanship. SolarMax is at the top of my list and I highly recommend them.

It took a while to get the project installed. So be ready for delays with county and Edison it can take a couple months to get started. Once that cleared they got right after it and install took a matter of days. The work was clean and as described at time of purchase. The system can be monitored online and it is easy to use and actually quite interesting to follow with tips and guides to further save $ on electricity. My rep was Jeff at Solarmax. He was easy to deal with and always available for questions. I was very nervous about this big purchase and was a big help and put me at ease. My first bill has come in and my savings are about $150.00 a month after I pay solar bill and electric bill. I am very pleased and look forward to owning the system and enjoying further savings. Don't wait do it now!!!

SolarMax Technology Installation, Customer service and Support

I was approached by many different solar companies telling me the same thing "they could save me 15% to 30% on my electric bill if I went with their company." I didn't think that it was worth it due to I would have 2 bills a Solar bill and a electric bill. I thought the purpose of solar was to save money!!! Then soon after I was approached by a guy named Bo from SolarMax Technology his presentation was different from all the others, he presented me with an option of replacing my electric company with Solar and reduce my overall cost by 30% over my electric company. Mom always told me if it's too good to be true then it's not true. But after listening to the representative "Bo" and seeing the savings on paper, everything started making sense. I agreed to get the Solar Panels installed and now after running for 30 days on solar, I've generated more electric then I've needed in those 30 days and according to the electric company I have a credit balance and on top of that the solar bill is about $100 cheaper than my last electric bill. Going with SolarMax Technology for my electric needs I believe was one of the best investments I could have ever made. I've enjoyed this organization so much I've order 8 additional panels. Best experience possible!!

My experience with SolarMax has been wonderful. I checked into several solar companies before deciding to go with SolarMax. The sales representatives with the other companies were really pushing the lease option when what I wanted to do was purchase. Dena Baldwin, the local sales representative, presented all the options to me, responded to all my questions within hours of my e-mails, and was very pro-active in making sure things were progressing as quickly as possible. When Dena found out the electrical panel would have to be replaced, which was not part of her original estimate, she arranged to split the cost! Dena continued to check in with me up through the approval to turn on the system - which happened today! All the planning and installation teams were wonderful - the person who came to inspect the roof and plan the installation site, the folks who installed the support structures, those who installed the solar panels and new electrical panel, Tony who installed the monitoring system and taught me how to review the function of the system, and Adrian who did the stucco repair. All teams arrived when they said they would, met the inspectors as planned, and explained exactly what they would be doing. This was the best possible sales and installation experience I could have hoped for! Wonderful customer service

Do what they say.

From sales rep. (Ralph Funk is extremely user friendly) to installation everyone has performed as promised. SolarMax communication and follow-up has been impressive, a rare commodity among contractors. We researched many (lots of solar companies out there) and interviewed four, very happy with our choice to date. As yet we are not operational until SDG&E gives a green light but given our experience to date we can only praise SolarMax service.

I was skeptical

After reading the reviews I was skeptical about going with SolarMax. We signed up in May with Jeff and the process did take a while. The lag time seemed to be with the city permits and was not SolarMax's fault. Install happened in August which took two days and was explained by the project manager Katrina. The first day was the roof and the second day was the solar. Upon inspection of the system the city inspector mentioned that we had some damaged tiles. We called customer service "Garrett" I believe his name was and they promptly fixed the tiles. Monitoring was installed about three weeks later in which they required use of our internet router. We had a problem three days later with our internet and again they sent a tech out to fix it. Turns out the problem was with AT&T and not SolarMax's equipment. Our system has been on since October again delays with Edison but this was explained by SolarMax. We can see our production everyday through our computer in which my husband is on the site everyday

Amendment to 8/22/2013 review

I previously reviewed SolarMax on 8/22 detailing our frustrating experience. Soon thereafter, SolarMax's customer service manager, Garrett Kramer, contacted us with an offer to compensate us for our poor experience. Garrett, as the representative of SolarMax, worked with my husband and I to come up with a fair compensation for our lost savings and time. Given this sincere effort on the company's part to make sure our end experience was a positive one, I would recommend SolarMax to future solar customers.

Solid all around

If you think about it. Adding solar has many obstacles from designing issues around the house to dealing with local zoning rules and regulations. From the salesman, Adam Jimenez to the customer service manager, Garrett ( I know I'm spelling his name wrong. Sorry.) I was really happy with the entire process. There was small delays and things that did not go as expected. I believe this will happen with any large project you take on. What made SolarMax stand out for me was the constant communication, honest answers and trustworthiness of each person I dealt with. They did a good job, the price was excellent ($10,000 less than the first bid I received.) and at the end of the day after everything was completed, I still feel I made the right decision.

SUN POWER PANEL INSTALLATION

Installed 12 Sun Power Solar Panels and a Sun Power Inverter to output a max 22 watts in peak sunlight. Performance humming with net meter to Southern California Edison. Family member had been using Solar Panels to start a community named "Solar One" in Arizona since the late 1970s. I bought a newly constructed house in California hoping to have a Solar Power option but had to wait 10 years to get all the player involved. Used WEBEX conferences with Sacramento Energy Commission to follow California process. Used my Boeing Discount with Sun Power to get retired employee discount, State and Federal discount to about 30%. Paid cash for the system and return on investment (ROI) will be approx 10 years when the warranty is at its max. I am grateful for this opportunity to use the Sun Power panels and inverter. It is exciting to be able to have one of four systems in our 255 home community in Moreno Valley, California. The system is part of the energy grid and outputing at max of 22 watts daily. Use online and inverter read to keep track of performance. Thouroughly impressed with the performance and thankful to not have electrical payment. Now looking to access a Thermal Energy System for heating water for residential use.

So far so good

Bo gave a great presentation and when the tires hit the road he sharpened his pencil combined with highly favorable financing terms got my business. So far so good. Within two weeks they are here to measure and inspect the roof and structure. Good be a little faster but in the big picture they're consistent with expectations.

Excellent....

My husband and I decided to opt for solar panels on our home about a year ago, and we are extremely glad we did! We chose Solar Max because they gave us a very competitive quote and some of our friends had been impressed with the first-rate work they did for them. We live in Nevada, and with the threat of increasing utility prices, we decided to safeguard ourselves and take the plunge. We got the SMX 230 series with the Enphase 215 monitoring system, and most months so far, our electricity bill has been $0. These solar panels are sure to pay for themselves in no time, and we regret nothing. The service and support of Solar Max combined with their excellent product makes us true believers!

We got a solar system installed by Solar Max Technology last year and have enjoyed lower energy bills ever since, and now we’ve also enjoyed their excellent customer service! We had some damage to our panels when a limb came down in a Santa Ana gust, and we called to schedule a repair, and they (I talked to a man named Chris Hansel, I believe) said they could send someone the very next day, which they did. So much faster than we expected, and now the system is already back to full capacity.

I can’t believe how long we lived in sunny southern CA and didn’t get solar panels on our roof! At least when we finally did we went with these guys. Such a great experience, so fast and well priced and now we’re already saving cash on energy!

Great System and Good Service

We had great service from Solar Max. Day 1 was the 'Roof Work'. They removed all of our pretty Spanish style roof tiles, inserted the pegs or posts, whatever they are called, replaced all the tiles exactly, then put the mounting rails on top. Day 2 was the 'Electrical work'. They installed all the solar panels, did the inter-connect to City of Riverside electricity supply, and tested the system. Day 3 The City of Riverside inspector came out, and the system passed first time. The installers were very professional, they took away all the cardboard boxes and fillers that the components came in, and even hosed the driveway where a small bottle of Gatorade had been spilled. All in all very excellent. Our main meter now runs backwards most of the time. If we are going to get America free of Middle East oil, this is one way we can do it. It also reduces greenhouse gases. Solar (or PV, as it is technically called) is the way forward, and I would highly recommend Solar Max to do it for you.

Excellent solar power decision

I am very pleased to have selected SolarMax from the sales rep to the final installation. The sales rep presented all the pros and cons of purchasing the system to leasing AND selecting the number of panels to meet my objectives and whether to select Chinese made panels or American panels in order to reduce the number of panels required to meet my needs of the home. The installation was flawless, from the engineers, roofers, electricians. They were all reall professionals that answered questions about every thing they were doing and I was pleased with the installation.

We installed a SunPower 327 Solar System in on February 22. SolarMAx did a great job and was always in communication with us the whole time. I would highly recommend SolarMax to anyone that is considering solar.
